I can't wait to get in there. Farin's going to be a fun character~
Name: Farin
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Gang: No-Man's Land (Freelancer)
Appearance:Farin is an Afrikaaner, descended from the Dutch. She's pale, with dirty blond hair and a compact frame, being 5'3. Her eyes are a striking blue, and she carries herself around with a sense of purpose. Farin is naturally fairly curvy, but a lifetime of constant training and tough situations has slimmed her down to an athlete's stature. Her hair, normally shoulder length, is tied back out of convenience. A smoking habit has made her voice huskier, but when she speaks, it's clear, dry and imminently recognizable, like most South Africans. Farin gives an appearance of being much older than her seventeen years.
On a given day Farin will be wearing well-worn leather and canvas boots, drab, fitted cargoes with a wide leather belt, and a thermal, short sleeved shirt. The climate mandates coats and long jackets, but Farin generally despises covering up. On some days, she might be wearing the green jacket of her old unit. Armor is the only thing she'll put up with, out of habit. Armor comes in the form of older, torso vests which reduce protection but offer increased mobility. When necessary, she'll use local outfits to blend in better.
Personality: Farin's name is rarely mentioned in the wasteland, not because of reputation or fear, but because the girl who had orchestrated some of the biggest arms deals of the decade had no public face or identity. There were some myths that she wasn't an actual person, but a myth made by several merchants, or that she was actually an agent of the underground. The reality of things was that Farin was simply a person who got things done. She was a frigid, unmoving
force more than a person, who got things done no matter what and repaid in double when crossed. She survived and endured no matter what the conditions. Farin doesn't take permanent sides, and work doesn't affect her on an emotional level. That in itself both makes her endearing and fearsome to those who believe they know Farin.
To those who know the girl from other walks of life, the reality seems a bit different. Farin is quiet, but not hostile or imposing. She shoots the shit, drinks, sometimes even parties when given enough of a reason to. A career of poker faces and tense, back-alley deals have made her difficult to read. By nature, Farin isn't exactly frosty or anti-social, but she doesn't understand people well enough to easily befriend them. She's got no lack of self esteem, considering her line of work, but the belief and conviction isn't there - Farin has more or less accepted she's part of the evil in the area. Despite this... she doesn't do certain things. She doesn't beg, she doesn't torture. Farin often states that her odd habits are because she's "Doing enough bad to the world to begin with" but some suspect she's not as heartless and cynical as most may believe.
Biography: Farin was born in one of the numerous temporary settlements of the wasteland. Her slightly better-off family was caught in an attack by raider that razed the entire camp, and she was forced into service as a child soldier for several years. Memories of happy campfires and falling asleep in warm sheets were replaced by drug-blurred visions of blood and squalor. It was a despairing existence, and Farin wasn't sure she wanted to hold on. Things changed eventually, during a period of time where many merc groups were growing in the region. The band of raiders got taken out, and Farin switched hands once more. In Viktor's Freelancers, she found a real home and a family that gave a damn. She would spend the most treasured years of her life with them. Farin showed promise as a skilled scout and a formidable marksman, ideally suited to scouting out the "No Man's Land" for long periods of time.
But every job had its risks, and one day she was captured. Gavin Company, a competing group, had been taking down mercs to torture for information. After many endless days of pain and confinement, Farin cracked. Her friends were cut to pieces in an elaborate ambush. What was left of the company scattered into the wastes. Farin's friends were slaughtered for the sake of business. Her existence dragged on in captivity until the fateful day where escape presented itself. Farin broke out and took matters into her own hands. The then sixteen year old mercenary set up a flurry of back-alley deals and gang mergers. In that furious few months, Farin would track down and kill every member of Gavin Company. Her comrades didn't blame her for the incident. But the damage was done. She sunk into the darker business of the wastes.
The girl became an embodiment of power and death in the wastes, controlling weapons and supplies that made the difference of life and death in the wastes. Various factions tried to pin down her elusive identity, people close to her, even bargain for exclusive deals. It never worked. Farin remained independent of any of the wasteland powers. As months ebbed and factions swayed from desperate need of her to plain distain, Farin worked steadily behind the scenes. Outcasts, wanderers in the No Man's Land cast away by the major gangs, Farin helped. She nurtured the society from where she came, helped them clean up, pull through worsening times.
Not that anybody knew. As far as the denizens of the waste cared, Farin was just a heartless power that everyone was grudgingly dependent on.
Equipment:Farin is never without her pistol and knife, even in light clothing. On most occasions, she'll don a soft vest. When a battle is known, Farin will opt for a disliked but practical ceramic scale vest with a camouflage smock outer layer. The vest, while heavy hugs her body well, and gives significant multiple hit protection around the torso. Other staples of her kit are a variety of grenades, a well-stocked medical kit and a small backpack with enough supplies for three days on the move.
*
Knife - Essentially a slab of metal formed into a brutish blade with grips bolted on, Farin made this knife while working for the company. It was basic training in how to make weapons with simple tools. While refined with a workable edge, rubber grips and a non-reflective finish, Farin could easily replace the blade if ever necessary.

M1911 - One of a kind, and Farin's only truly prized possession. A relic of the old world, this M1911 has been immaculately cared for over the years, despite intense use.
*
Galil ARM - A customized Israeli rifle based upon the AK-47 design. Accurized, ergonomically enhanced and chambered in a bigger round, this particular rifle has been modified to use very common FAL magazines. It is Farin's typical weapon of choice and ideally suited a number of situations. On occasion, it's outfitted with a folding holographic sight, flashlight and suppressor.

Mk2 Grenades*
WLA Custom Cycle - A total redesign of an ancient, pre-war concept, this heavy bike incorporates armor over critical components, weapon carriage and a unique hydrogen engine. Low maintenance, Farin knows how to work the vehicle inside and out. A number of weapons are typically carried on the bike.

PDR-COther: Farin has a habit of geocaching. Numerous locations, known only to her are stashed with an assortment of supplies. Generally, this means a CB radio, AKM, Glock, ammo, rations and medical supplies. On rare occasions, she has given out locations of caches to individuals in dire need.
Farin finds deals and abandoned stockpiles herself, putting them out for sale at lower prices than any possible competitor. She has a tendency to do things herself, though it isn't uncommon for her to use agents in touchy scenarios. The goods can range from vital medicine to small vehicles, but it's generally high quality old-world weapons. Lasers, electrical weapons and home-made weapons are uncommon in comparison to most merchants.
