Isaac
He was in the clearing, reading a book carefully. Although he was a purebred elf, he still enjoyed reading human novels. Many of them ended in "happily-ever-after." And the ones that didn't? They were the ones he liked to read. They outlined human life so well! Heartbreak, death, more death, more heartbreak. It seemed that those two things were the most horrible thing that could happen to someone. Isaac was amused by them.
He sat under a tree, whose leaves were the shade of orange, with a tint of red. He could pick up the slightest of sounds with his elven ears. The sound of nature was all he had heard for hours. When he heard a giggle, he realized there were people in the clearing. He didn't have to look up to know that one of royalty had come. How did he know? The sounds of her entourage was enough.
Why must they interrupt my afternoon? he grumbled in his thoughts as he got up lightly.
Manuela
As only Manuela could do, she ran around Central Park unnoticed during the day. Many could see her, though they did not pay attention. Her favorite thing to do was enchant the kids. She would hide in a tree, and giggle oh-so slightly. Her laugh was like a bell, it was beautiful. The kids would catch a glimpse of her, and then dream of elves that night.
She knew. She knew her parents would crush their dreams soon enough. It was just sad, she thought. Humming, she ran up a tree, and sat down on one of its branches. Surely know one she was acquainted with would find her. If they did, though, she would be in trouble. The girl was young and immature. She was only a teenager in human years, anyway. Why not have a little fun?
But now, she rested, listening to the kids' laughter, the shouting parents. She enjoyed it. Never had she experienced something like that in her world.
