Many thoughts were running through Corey’s head as they raced down the road in a shiny black Suburban. Where were they taken them? There were a few other college students in the vehicle as well, but they seemed to be as clueless as them. They had said something about community service, but they had never said what kind. Corey wasn’t completely sure this was some sort of “community service.” She guessed she would just have to find out.
As soon as they parked and got out, they were greeted by two men who got out of a limousine.
‘Yeah, this definitely has to do with the government…..’ Corey thought, as they walked over to the two men.
Well…. At least one of them had to do with the government. The only was dressed like someone that they had picked up off the street like them. Corey looked down at herself and remembered why she had felt underdressed when compared to the men driving the Suburban. She was still wearing her slightly Speedo swim from her morning swim workout. She had this all covered by stretchy dance pants and a loose t-shirt. Corey had been on her way back to her dorm room to change when they had approached her about this project.
She then stood and listened as the government man talked and reveal that the other guy was an Andalite. Corey almost had to stop herself from gasping. She had always thought they were pretty, but seeing one in person was just too much. It was just like her seeing a gorgeous horse on TV, and then seeing it in one of her Pentathlon competitions.
Corey tried to process the information as fast as it was getting thrown at them. So they wanted them to help fight off a possible threat of more Yeerks. Sounded like a blast. Besides, she had always been one for a bit of adventure, and this was certain to cause some. She just hoped it didn't interfer with her schooling, competing, or dancing.
“I’m in,” Corey said, reaching out towards the cube. She didn’t figure she would be able to back out now anyway. They had obviously chosen her and these other people for certain reasons. Why deny them someone they thought would do a good job.
“Is there anything we should know before we agree to this though? I’m in, but I want to know if there’s a catch,” Corey asked, her hand inches from the blue cube. She just wanted a little bit more information before she got herself involved in this.
