Is anyone else craving a Doctor Who based roleplay? I sure as hell know I am...
I was thinking of creating, or helping to create, a roleplay based somewhere in the Whoniverse that is most likely, but not necessarily, revolving around The Doctor. Of course it doesn't have to do this, it could be about other Time Lords or Humans or Zygons... I've really got no major ideas on this as of yet but I'd be very interested to hear all of yours.
So, anyone interested in the slightest?

I'm a major fan of Doctor Who, been reading whatever books I could get my hands on and been watching the show (Both old and new, old through various youtube or other clips), though I haven't seen the newest Doctor at work yet. I'm more than interested in seeing a good Doctor Who based rp get off the ground and started.

I'm glad to see somebody's interested! Sadly I have only seen bits and pieces of the original series due to Australian television being somewhat lacking in the quality of its programing to say the least. I have seen the newest Doctor's first series I think he's doing a pretty good job considering who he has to follow. :P Anywho! Is there anything in particular you are craving for a Doctor Who rp? Any stray ideas?

Though I admit, I haven't seen the newest doctor either, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get my hands on the last episodes of Tennant's last season either. They don't send the show at all in my country, and my computer hates me so I'm not allowed to download large files.
Though as for the RP itself, except for the DW-theme.. Well. There are many things we could do, I suppose, but I don't have any good suggestions at this very moment. The first thing that pops into mind is to make ourselves a small group similar to Torchwood. Someone that hunts/researches aliens or something. :P

Sorry it took as long as it did to reply, but I don't have a lot of ideas, nothing specific at any rate. I like Raijn's idea of a small group sort of deal, perhaps merge the two hunt research thing, research a species or group as it arrives, or they encounter it, and figure how to deal with it from there? Oh, and random comment, but Raijn, your sig made me chuckle.

That's an interesting idea... I was never a big fan of Torchwood but that was mainly because there was a gratuitous amount of snogging every five minutes for no apparent reason. However, being some kind of group that stumbles onto aliens sounds somewhat promising.
Hmm... I just had another idea, and it is fairly unrelated to yours; What if we were Time Lords in a period before or during the Last Great Time War? We could be trying to prevent/stop the Time War... Or trying to instigate it depending on what floats your boat. It could be potentially combined with your idea, Raijn. Opinions? It's fairly early in the morning here so I apologise if it sucks. I'm not a morning person...

Hm. Well I'm in. I support the idea of a group, though it needs a boss. If we're Time Lords then one has the tardis and such stuff... But how can you say the snogging in Torchwood was without reason? After all, Captain Jack Harkness was in that show:P

@Eisenhorn, an acual comment from a roleplay. Curiously enough, everyone in the RP died, but not because of the seven-sided sharp thing.
Though I like your idea, BadgerGob, I'm not too keen on playing a Time Lord. But then again, I could easily play a different race, and we could still go along with your idea - I imagine that there are several other races in the universe that would benefit from the Time War being prevented. If you'll allow me to, that is. Not sure what I want to play yet, though I'll admit that I've been playing with the idea of an Eternal looking for a way to get a hold of an imagination..
So, yeah. What does the last interested member of our group think?

Point taken, Jack is after all possibly the biggest man-slut in the universe... The Doctor sure as hell can give him a run for his money at times though. :P Glad to hear you're om board, though!
If you don't want to play a Time Lord you don't have to nor do we have to go along with my idea. In fact I'm not even sure if I'll be GMing whatever rp that results from this brainstorming session... I'm glad you like my idea, though. We could do a sort of combination of our ideas and have a group of beings, including Time Lords and Eternals (though they could be a little over powered...), dedicated to trying to avert a Time War. Once again, early morning posting probably isn't a good idea so feel free to shoot my half-brained schemes out of the sky. :D

I can agree with the early morning posting thing. Hello, 07.36 AM.. You exist? So, yeah, apologies for the bad English.
Anyway, I know Eternals are pretty overpowered, and I was worried about that too, which is why I was mostly playing with the idea. According to the Doctor Who Wiki, though, there actually are limits to their powers. And if I decide to play one, I'm sure we can make up a reason for that particular character to have lost some of its power - a punishment from the higher ups or something. Either way, I wont decide on that point completely until we know what we're gonna do.
As for the boss, Eruantalon, I agree with you. In order for the group thing to work, we would probably need a "drive", or whatever you'd like to call it. Though we might not need a GM, we'll need that. Anyone up for the job? :)

We also need to figure out what the drive is... Like a 'Big Bad' of some variety in need of our meddlesome ways or perhaps something more abstract... I'm strapped for ideas right now as I'm in the middle of writing a short story for English. :P

I suggest that we think of internal conflicts, as well as a Big Bad, or villains. We don't necessarily need to make characters that always bicker and argue, but I think that a lot of good RPing can come out of discussing. Though I suppose that all of this will be taken care of with fleshed-out characters, so we probably don't need to worry about it.
Should the Big Bad be an NPC, or should we make several characters each - one bad and one good? Or perhaps some of us would rather be part of the bad guys, and not be a good guy at all.. The options are ENDLESS D:

We're in need of: Big bad, a boss of our little team of misfits.
We also need to decide location, and most likely timeline.
And lastly, a plot. Which, I guess, will be mostly decided from the Big Bad.
(A plot is only as smart as the villain, after all.)

well i am always up for doctor who but would like to have an RP more loyal to the classic doctor who.
I think its first of all RP friendly, its very easy to simply have a reapeting adventure, a doctor who plays in a few adventures and companions who may carry on or get replaced.
the new doctor who (while i loved the series with the first two doctors) simply isn't RP friendly, its plots are rushed and there is little story development.
on personal note i do not like the entire time war idea and think it should be ignored in an RP and i prefer the original TARDIS to the new one (hey people i grew up with it from the age of 6!)
also i am personaly against Dalek overpower, the classic had the daleks as major enemies but not so powerfull that they can truly challange the time lords. PC (the time lords actualy move from neutral to enemies of the doctor in the original series)
simply put i suggest that any one intrested in making such an RP should reserch the original doctor who
