"4..5..6.." One by one, long poles were driven into the hard ground in the shape of a large circle. "&..8..9.." As the circle was completed, Koth stepped back to admire his handiwork, clearly pleased with himself, and started to thread rope through the circular end of the poles to create a ring.
"Not to shabby, not at all.." The ring was meant for the self-defense class Koth was to teach, in now what was going to be his second year at Arainia High School for the Gifted. The principal had graciously let him teach outside on good weather days, the absence of iron shoes on his horse-feet made the hard gym floors difficult to walk on comfortably.
He was quite proud of himself, Koth was. To be teaching younglings at the young age of 31 (21 in centaur years) was not often done in the centaur community. The youngest teacher he had ever heard of had been well into his human 70's, and was not totally qualified. Yes, he imagined himself quite the talk of the town if his herd ever got wind of him.
When the ring was finished, and cushions set down inside of it, Koth had nothing else to do but wait for the students to arrive, if he had any in the first period of the day.
Mr. Udaeus... It had a nice ring to it.

Kat walked into the gym, ears twitching at difrrent angles, following noises that caught thier attention, his tails behind him swaying back and forth, helping him keep his balance as he walked. A grin seemed plastered to his face. He was wearing a white long sleeve button up shirt, with thin vertical straipes and a black Fleur-de-lis on the back of his shirt, and a simple pair of black jeans on, he wasn't wearing any shoes, prefering to go bare footed. He whistled as he watched the centaur slam the poles into the ground, "I take it your the new selfdefence teacher," he said, appraising the centaur, "I geuss Mr. Habadasher got tired of my little mind games, literally, " He said his smirk growing larger as he thought back to his first year here. He extended his hand to new teacher, "I suppose you got lucky, I'm the first student here to meet you today, I'm..." he paused, putting on a puzzled look before looking down at his collar, "I'm Kat," he said smiling, "and just so you know, I think all the other students here are crazy, but don't tell them I let you in on their secret," he said before chuckling.

Aymery walked in timidly, her arms crossed and her vivid green eyes pacing the room, staring everything down. For the first time in the day, she glanced out at what she was wearing. She cringed a bit.
"It could be worse." Aymery muttered bitterly to herself, but let it go. Whatever. Whatever. She just needed to stop attacking herself for the useless things. She brushed her kind of white hair out of her face, searched for a rubber band, pulled it up, where it hung uselessly, and walked forth toward Mr Udaeus and Kat. She smiled weakly, knowing who they were, but knowing that she was a sucky people person.
"Hey." She spoke, glancing at each of them, in monotone. "Well this is pretty cool.." She then attempted to smile again. They just looked at her like she was going to say more, or something along those lines.
Aymery stared back uselessly. She fingered her million bracelets that sat upon her arm, the ones that were supposed to be giving her luck vibes.
"Ehh. Ok. I suck at introductions. But whatever. I'm Aymery. And..yeahh.." She stood around looking blankly at them. Other people were beginning to file in the room.

Haru walked in to her first class, She remembered this class very well from last year. She sighed as she walked in. 'Wha!'. She looked over at who she guessed to be the new teacher. 'I never thought they would ever replace that useless bag of bones' she thought quietly to herself. She was in all black that day, a black long sleeved shirt which sleeves hung over her hand, her black skinny jeans with a white skull on the leg and her converses. Her collar had her name on it with a small bell and a little black belt that hung off of it as if you could walk her. Her hair was pulled up into a pony tail so her ears were seen clearly and so was her tail. She bowed towards to teacher. "Hi, I'm Haru Saiko...you must be the new teacher everyone is talking about". She waved over at Kat, he was the only thing close to a neko here and they had been best friends since last year. She ran over to him. "Hey! how was your summer?"

Kat sighed, "Don't even remind me, first there were the parties, with rich idiots fooling themselves into thinking they care about others, then they found my hiding spot so I had to attend, and worst of all," He said, pausing for dramatic affect, "Everyone who didn't know it already thought it was lovely when they found out my name, despite my prior protest that my parents use my self chosen alias." he said, "So all in all it was a pretty good summer compared to last, my tails were only grabbed 3 times by ditzy girls this year," he said, grimacing theatricly, ears folding back as he held one of his tails protectively. It wasn't that it felt bad to have his tails grabbed other people, in fact that was part of the problem, it felt too good to be done publicly. " But what about you Koneko, I can only hope yours was better than mine." He said as he absentmindedly stroked the tail in his hand.

(the way I see it, its kind of like being tickled, you can't do it to yourself, someone els has to do it.)

Amy walked through the halls,on her first day in her new high school. Her hair was neat,since her mom did it today. Though her hair was neat,her outfit was messy. Not in the scense of style,but the way she wore it.
Alex walked through the halls on the first day of his new high school. He had his nose in a book as usual,and was paying no attention to where he was walking.
Amy was looking behind her.wondering where the heck all the people where when she crashed into someone. Some of the contents of her backpack spilled out.
"Ow,sorry. I should've watched where I was going,sorry." Amy apoligized,picking up some of her stuff,and accidently grabbing his book.
"No,it's okay. I was reading,I should have watched where i was going." He said,helping her. He stood up,and gave them to her,and then saw her. Woah...He thought.
"I'm sorry."She said,biting her lip,while putting her folders,and his book in her backpack. Wow.Amy thought. She couldn't believe she did that. "Well,I better get going. It's my first day here,ya know." Amy stated.
"Ha,mine to. Now that I think about it,I'm completly lost." Alex said.
"Well, I think the gym might be over there...That's where self-defence class is." She said pointing. "Do you have that class?" She asked,walking toward it.
"Yeah,"He said,not paying attention to his missing book. They walked into the gym,and saw four people. One was a teacher,obviously,and he was a centaur. One was a...cat,the other was an elf. And the last one was a neko. Amy had never seen any different kind of species,so was a little scared.
Alex had heard,and even meet some other species before so he wasn't scared. He started walking forward,and Amy stayed back,unsure of what to do next.
"Um,are you coming." Alex realized he didn't even have her name. "So,whats your name?" He asked,as they walked rowards the others.
"Amy,and your's?" She asked.
"Alexander. Call me Alex,though."
"Hello Alex."
"Hello,Amy." They said to each other,giggling. They walked up to the others.
"Hi,everyone!" Amy said,smiling. "I'm Amy,and this is Alex!" She said,pulling at her leggings,that were underneath her skirt. The sweater she wore on top was baggy,but she had a short sleeve shirt underneat. Her sweater covered half her skirt,and covered her hands. Amy wore the type of ballerina shoes,though they were blue to match with her outfit.
Alex watched,her,and then looked at his own outfit,which was an old green t-shirt,with some jeans,and converse.

Haru gasped "You went those parties omg I hate them...your better then me I would have told them to eff off and hadn't blinked once!". She had her own way of talking, if you didn't know her you'd probably think she was speaking a different language. "Stupid bimbos...always getting their hands on something". She shook her head and patted his ears. "It's ok". she giggled as she also patted the tail in his hand. "My summer was quite the summer, lots of traveling, went to japan, Australia...omg did you know that they have like...anime conventions like every weekend over there?! it was so awesome...tried to contact you but my phone went hay wire". She wiggled her fingers to further express what she was saying. She turned around to the new girl. "Hi! I'm Haru Saiko". She bowed slightly and smiled.

Kat shivered slightly when she patted both his ear and tail, though he certainly wlecomed Haru doing it rather than some pampered rich girl, if she did it much more he would a few problems to deal with. He shook his head, getting those thoughts out of his head. "Definetly had a better summer than me, your lucky your parent likes to travel," he said, before he turned to the other girl, Aymery she had said her name was, "Don't worry about it too much, I don't bite...well not usually," he said before grinning, droping his tail and holding out a hand to her, "I'm Kat, nice to meet you, freshmeat is always welcome here," he said, smiling wide enough to show off his enlarged canines.

Aymery narrowed her eyes sarcastically, cracking a smile.
"Nice to meet you Kat." She eyed the canines, taken aback by the size of them, and how they could pass as stiletto heels, not that she would wear those things. She'd trip and fall and then end up in jail because of an accidental stabbing.
"So how was your summer?"

Haru nodded. "Ah freshmen eh?...what are you..?". Her ears twitched slightly and her tail swished from side to side, almost touching the ground. "My parents love to travel...I'm sure your parents wouldn't mind if you tagged along next summer...were going to france". She clapped her hands a little giddy. She tugged on Kat's ears lightly. "You bite constantly". She then hopped ontop of one of the desks and sat with her legs swinging over the edge and pulled out a sucker popping it in her mouth.

"Hi,Haru,Kay,Aymery..."Amy greeted,then stopped and smiled. "If you dropped the 'ry' off of,Aymery,you would get Ayme. And if you dropped the 'e',and switched the 'y' with the 'm',then you'd get Amy!" She said,explaining her thinking. She had a way of doing that,and sometimes people took her thoughts the wrong way. She didn't think anybody would take that the wrong way...but they would think she was self-concided. She mentally sighed,she sucked at thinking before she spoke.
Alex had wondered away during the whole introductions. He didn't want to look to shy,but he was. He reached into his back pack,to pull out the book he was reading,and realized he didn't have it. Maybe Amy had it.
"Hey,Amy," Alex called to her. She walked over to him.
"Yeah?"
"When I ran into you, did you see my book,anywhere?" He asked
"Uhm... Maybe it's still out there in the hall."
"No..we picked up everything."
"Oh...hm." Amy said,slipping her hand into her backpack,to find her eraser that she chewed on. She felt a book,where her folders were. She pulled it out and examined it. "Is this it?" She asked,holding it out.
"Yeah,thanks!" Alex said,taking it back,and smiling at her.
"No problem." she said,looking away,embarresed.

Kat rubbed the ear she had pulled, though it didn't hurt too much , Kat had always been theatric,before grinning, tensing up slightly before leaping at her, falling off the desk he had been onand landing on the ground, making sure to land on the floor to avoid injuring her. He put a hand over her mouth lightly, the suckers stick poking out through his fingers"Shhhh, your not supposed to tell them that, it makes the freshman nervous." he said laughing, "besides I don't bite, I just pounce, its no my fault if I have my mouth open at the time." He told her before looking up at Aymery, "Don't worry, this actually happens quite often, though its usually the other way around, Haru here is secretly and madly in love with me." He stold her grin constantly growing in size, before hearing Amy and Alex, "Oh hi guys," he said, using one of his tails to wave at them.

Haru was in the middle of laughing was she was tackled. "Wah!" she fell backwards landing lightly on the ground with his hand over her mouth.
'Shhhhhhh your not supposed to tell them that, it makes the fisherman nervous.'
"oh yea right" she rolled her eyes sarcastically. She was about to turn and tackle him back when she said she was madly in love with him. She blushed almost three shades of red. "T-that's not t-true". She pulled on his collar remotely. She really did have a slight crush on him though...but know one had to know that. She smirked and decided to mess with him. * she slung her arms lossely around her neck from behind. "Oh really Kat-kun?"

Kat looked back up at Haru as he felt her weight change, the pose she was using giving him a good view of her...assets. Kat swallowed as it was his turn to blush, and rushed to his feet, lest anything begin to poke her. Thank God I wore loose jeans, he thought as stood up, quickly recovering, taking on a southern belle tone, "Well I do declah, that is a most vile trick young lady, tempting a young, and honest man such as me like that, and if you must act that way, please wait till we leave the company of such innocents." he said, looking over at the others in the gym.

Haru saw the look and the blush that spread across his face. She laughed slightly. She stood up and brushed herself off. " Vile...so mean...young...honest...Lie!...must act this way...nope don't worry I'll never do it again". She patted his head and we back to sitting on the desk. She stuck her tongue out and went back to looking out the window. "I'm bored I hope this class starts soon...I need things to do". She said shaking her head.

Kat took a seat next to her, "It wasn't all lies...I am young at least." he said, having calmed down from earlier. He had to admit, at least to himself, his feelings for Haru went farther then simple friendship, he didn't feel quite ready to try and make the leap from friend to boy friend, prehaps later even his mate, only to fall on his face rather than landing on his feet. His tails were tiwtching back and forth agitatedly as he thought more about it. "Thanks for inviting me to your next trip, I'll see if i can get them to let me go, and if they don't, you can just pack me in the suitcase with your clothes."

(I won't be posting for much longer, lightining is messing up our router for wireless, it got zapped and now my dad is trying to fix it.)

Haru laughed. "Yea i'll pack you with my clothes". She smiled as she gave him the piece sign. "Your young...that's about it". She always had a crush on Kat ever since they met and had science class last year. She knew him has someone a little more then a friend...but not established yet. She knew he wasn't ready yet, and neither was she but she'd wait for him...besides...feelings are feelings right.

((Oh so...guys...we're outside...not in a classroom))

Koth had stood still long enough, listening to the random chatter of what seemed to be his new students. He stomped his hoof against a particularly hard part of the earth, a loud boom echoing on the school building. "If it would be not so troublesome as to have your attention..." He said, stressing attention.
"I am your self-defense teacher this year. You may call me Mr. Udaeus." He stood up straight, and crossed his arms across his broad chest. "And you may think that you do not have the need to learn self-defense, with your 'amazing powers' and whatnot." At this his lips curled up into something of a snarl as he looked at the students. "But it is a major part of keeping yourself alive-" He interrupted himself, pointing out various scars on his body "-without loosing a body part. Hopefully." At this he turned and strode over to the ring.
"This will be our practice ring for the year. Outside of it you will learn about the skills neccesary to defend yourself, and inside it you will put them into practice. Either sparring with myself, or one of your classmates." He cleared his throat, trying to look stony and cold. "There will be written-yes written-and practical tests throughout the year, so keep on your toes and take notes."

Haru got rudely taken out of her daydream when the loud boom sound echoed though her ears. She was about to turn and tell him off when she actually saw her teacher full attention. She was speechless, this teacher was diffidently not like last years teacher. She instantly sat cross legged and full attention on her teacher. She'd had to get punished by him, his leg it's self was taller then her. A quiver of fear ran up her spine as she scooted a little behind Kat.
