Long marble pillars rose on either side of the handsome granite building, adorned with a plethora of bass reliefs which depicted land and sea animals alike. From elegant impressions of water birds to sinister carvings of sharks, the pillars were reminders that Atlantis had not always lived in fear of the turmoil which existed in the outside world. Born a utopia, Atlantians had sunk the might city so that it might remain so, but at what price? The pillars supported this majestic domed building, but were not its only marvel. Down the halls to the Western Wing, inlaid into the walls, was a mighty benitoite Kraken complete with yellow charlesite eyes. And down the Eastern hallway was a similar ruby Sea Dragon, eternally bearing it's fangs of white sapphire. It was probably the grandest library in the world.
Elle Sarn paced the halls of this Atlantian library, which contained water-proofed, ancient documents, along with the records of modern and ancient Atlantis. She ran one hand tenderly across the delicately carved tentacles of the Kraken, while the other hand played absent-mindedly with the lacy gills at her neck. The West Wing was only available to the royal family, and Elle herself, because she was the royal advisor. Stored in the West Wing were exclusive documents, including important above-sea reports, records of royal decision, and other papers which were withdrawn from the eyes of the public.
Elle strolled down the length of the great blue squid, her silver-white hair floating behind her in an iridescent cascade that made the sunless-pale of her skin even more eerie. She was adorned with only a white fish scale gown; after all, wearing shoes in a place where swimming was as common as walking was impractical. The only color that Elle had was contained within her pale green eyes. Letting out a long sigh, in the form of bubbles of air; she tapped her foot impatiently on the pearly tile floors. Not even royalty should get away with being this late. Scanning the marble pillars Elle expected, even hoped, that either the prince or princess would jump out and say "Gottcha!", but they didn't. They were supposed to meet her a half hour ago to discuss some important reports.
