The family has three children, one of whom is adopted. Their father is often gone, and when he comes home he tends to drink more than he should. The children all know that their father isn’t great to their mother, but they don’t know the full extent of the problem.
The couple is still fairly young, both in their thirties. The mother is devoted to her children, and even though her husband beats her and yells at her, she says nothing and always acts as though everything is just fine. She seems to be the perfect wife, but her husband is never fully happy with her when they’re behind closed doors.
On top of that, the teens have plenty of other things to deal with, especially the adopted one. She has always been a little strange, but people just believed it was some psychological disorder or something of the sort. She has grown to believe this as well, as she doesn’t know what it is. She just sees things sometimes, images, scenes, it could be anything. Sometimes it isn’t even something she sees, but rather a sound, a feeling. It can get quite stressful, and she’s teased for it very often at school, just adding to the overall problem.
The truth is, this girl is one of the Immortals. They are humans gifted with certain abilities along with the fact that they cannot die. Even if they cannot die, however, they can still feel pain, and sometimes the pain can be worse than the death of the body. There are multiple Immortals out there, but all of them have just recently appeared in the last twenty years. These Immortals all have one common ability besides living forever—they can choose to appear whatever age they please, though not how they want to look exactly.
The Immortals are all here around the same time for a reason, though no one knows what that reason is. In truth, the world is doomed to destruction by the very people inhabiting it, and the Immortals are here to stop all of the selfishness and destructive ways of humans. It’s no easy task, and it may just be impossible. But someone has to try.

Alright, here are the special abilities you can have IF you are an Immortal. You can combine them so long as the character doesn’t become too powerful, and you may also alter the abilities as you please. These are just some ideas. If I see any problems in the ability area, I will let you know. Oh, and try not to have the same exact powers as someone else. Let’s keep it spread out.

-light wave reconstruction and refraction [creating illusions of your environment]

-Keep romance according to the rules. I personally don't mind romance, but if you have to do anything too far, either just imply it in the text or take it to PM's.
-Violence must be sensible, no killing without permission, etc. If you have given permission for your character to be killed please PM me so I know that.
-Cursing must be reasonable. Some is fine, but don't be vulgar, please. It's not enjoyable to read.

She used to love her husband, but after a few years he started drinking, and that’s when the yelling began. It wasn’t long before his drinking got worse, and with that came the hitting and the continued yelling. She has done her best to keep all of this away from her children, hoping they still don’t know about it. She always hides her bruises from them and everyone else.
