See subject. I personally would say it's either Midna's Desperate Hour or Sacred Grove from Twilight Princess. I also would say that the Legend of Zelda series has the best overall game music, and Twilight Princess or Wind Waker has the best music within the series. Twilight Princess has a few REALLY good songs, but Wind Waker has a LOT of pretty good songs. I would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Star Fox 64- The 'Beat the Game' song, don't know the title. That's about one of the only reasons I play the game frequently, to hear the song. It has a sweet ending.

Above and beyond winner in video game soundtracks is Final Fantasy Tactics and virtually every time anybody says otherwise, it's because they haven't heard this soundtrack. For me it is untouchable.

So more or less just picking my favorite track from that, I'd say "Ovelia's Worries" is easily a contender for the 'best video game song ever.'

TES III: Morrowind's score is absolutely beautiful, as is the Witcher's. That one is just beautiful, all of them (exempting battle songs), they're all marvelous, especially the ending track. Other ones can include:

the LotR soundtrack (well what, they were made and implemented into the games too !)

One Winged Angel by the Blackmages,

some of Halo's music,

I seem to remember that the Fire Emblem Theme and Together We Ride were my favorites from Fire Emblem...

Pokemon, ftw!

Ruby/Sapphire had some really good tracks, like Verdanturf or Evergrande.

Oh, and, if visual novels count... Narcissu's music is beautiful. It's up for download free online- those of you who haven't read it, check it out.

That song was epic, but after listenning to it for 3 weeks straight all day, it gets dull. Their is no such thing as the greatest song becuase OneWingedAngel is the greatest OF ITS KIND. Sorry bout caps.

As for other types, GreenBird from Cowboybebop (yea they made a game so it counts >=D) it best hands down..of its kind.
