Sir Lancelot du Lac, famed knight of the Round Table, began his adventures in the Lake, a fairy realm ruled by the Lady of the Lake—Vivienne. The summer of his seventeenth year, the Lake made host to a knight, a girl squire, a half-fey and an exiled woodsman. While these newcomers were friendly , the Lake was not without enemies. One such foe was Iweret the Black Knight, who wished to plunder the realm’s treasures—and not only that, but have his will with Lady Vivienne, who had once borne him a son named Mabuz. At the same time that the Lake welcomed its guests, Vivienne left to confront her former lover—and fell for his trap: imprisonment in an enchanted mirror.
Vivienne’s absence was taken advantage of by Iweret’s alluring fairy mistress, Lady Delvynn, who briefly claimed the title of the new Lady of the Lake. Iweret slew Delvynn, and then invaded the Lake. Lancelot, with the aid of his new friends, defended his home and defeated Iweret and his squires. After Iweret was slain, Lancelot and company embarked on a quest to rescue Vivienne. On their journey, they encountered mighty dragons—one of which showed himself to be a valuable ally, and provided them with a magic orb that would break the spell on the mirror.
New friends were made—as well as new enemies: Queen Mab, Vivienne’s sister, and Marrik, Mab’s son, who she trained as a formidable swordsman. Our heroes braved Mab’s perilous forest realm and fended themselves against her malicious wolves and crows. In a heated duel, Lancelot nearly defeated his rival Marrik, while Mab was slain by Mabuz. With both foes subdued, they finally gained possession of the mirror and freed Vivienne.
They all returned to the Lake—but all was not well. While Vivienne was away, Lancelot had fallen in love with a young woman who wielded her father’s sword: Alanna of Greensbury. Alanna returned his affections, and the two youths were adamant that they would spend their future together. Vivienne, who believed that Lancelot was meant only for the highest lady of the land (Queen Guinevere), would not deign to allow Alanna to be present at a banquet celebrating the successful quest and Lancelot’s eighteenth birthday. In a determined act of defiance, suggested by Lancelot and aided by a handful of fairies and even Merlin himself, Alanna duped Vivienne and the lot of the Lake by impersonating Guinevere, and ultimately tricking Vivienne into granting her blessing that she should be the woman to lay claim to Lancelot’s heart.
This is the summary of “Under the Lake,” of which this story is a continuation. The first game ended with virtually everyone but Lancelot banished from the Lake, but with hope for setting out on their separate ways. Our largest party, Lancelot, Alanna, a knight-hopeful named Kantus, and Lancelot’s cousins Bors and Lionel, have been continuing in their various adventures for two years. Lancelot has not yet been knighted, and our story will detail his early adventures and his first arrival to Camelot, and meeting with King Arthur and Guinevere, as well as other legendary characters, and perhaps even some original characters. About half of our characters have been legendary-based, and half of them original creations.
Not very many new players are needed. However, what we do need are players to fill these roles:
--Queen Guinevere
--Mordred
--Merlin (I had been playing him in Under the Lake, but I will offer someone else to take him on for this game)
--Isolde (Kohananinja may be interested?)
These legendary characters are already claimed:
--Arthur (by NewArthur)
--Lancelot (by daughterofdon)
--Lady of the Lake (by daughterofdon)
--Nimue (by daughterofdon)
--Morgan le Fay (by Applepoisoneer)
--Tristan (by Aikiwarrior)
--Bors (by Jadeling Hawkins)
--Lionel (by daughterofdon)
--Gawain (by Mozenrath?)
If there is a particular knight or character you would like to be, feel free to post a profile and I will consider their inclusion. Here’s the profile to fill out:

I do have expectations for the nature of Guinevere, Mordred and Merlin. If you wish to write for one of these characters, you should be familiar with their legendary roles. We are changing the legends somewhat, mostly in the fact that Lancelot will not have an affair with Guinevere (although he will most likely be framed or accused of one). Instead, we plan to have Guinevere commit adultery with Mordred, as is usually the case in the earlier legends, before Lancelot was written about. This does not mean that Mordred and Guinevere need to be villains. In fact, I would prefer it that they were treated in a human light, and not villainized for their treacherous love.
As for time period, I am basing the story off of a peculiarity often found in Arthurian literature. That is, it is assumed that Arthur is a king that lived during the sixth century, soon after the Romans left Britain, and when the Saxons began to invade. However, since the literature was first written in the 12th century, that it is the time period reflected in dress and period customs. Thus, our knights do not wear full-plate armor. It is largely mail armor, worn under surcoats, like the knights of the Crusades. Ladies wear bliauts and veils.
Full name and title: Lancelot du Lac
Birthplace: Benoic (Brittany)
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Appearance: Dark hair, now grown out enough to cover his ears and part of his neck (he had shorter hair in his boyhood). His eyes are as dark as his hair, and he has handsomely thick brows. As can be expected of a knight of his talent, he is strong and tall. He is not the most handsome knight, but his disposition may aid in his appeal.
Brief history: When he was an infant, his father King Ban was slain by King Claudas, and the kingdom of Benoic was set to flames. His mother went mad with grief, and the Lady of the Lake took that opportunity to whisk away the babe, whose future was prophesied to be the greatest knight in the world. She raised him under the Lake, and loved him more than her natural son, gifting him with the finest training available to a knight.
Living blood relations: Queen Helaine (mother), Hector de Maris (half-brother), Bors the Younger (cousin), Lionel (cousin)
Optional-- Blazon:
Azure, three passant guardian lions or (Blue, with three crouching gold lions).
Optional—Name of Sword: Arondight
Optional—Name of Charger: Clarric
Name: Lionel de Ganis
Birthplace: Gannes (Gaul)
Current age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Dark hair in a Prince Valiant-esque haircut. His black eyes are big and buggy with droopy eyelids. He is a rather ugly lad, on the small side for a knight. He has a strange birthmark on his chest that resembles the shape of a lion, as well as an unappealing mole on his chin.
History: Born the younger son of King Bors of Gannes (in Brittany) and Queen Evaine. His father was killed by King Claudas, who usurped the kingdom, and the young Bors and Lionel were kept as captives in Claudas’s court, under the guardianship of Sir Pharian, a friend of their father’s. Like his other relatives, he has been training as a knight. When he was sixteen, he was rescued from Claudas’s court, disguised as a greyhound, and took to the Lake to meet his long-lost cousin Lancelot.
Blazon:
Argent on a semy of etoiles sable three bends gules. (White background, black stars and three red bands). These were his father’s arms as well. But there are differentiated from Bors the Younger (
Ermine three bends gules).
Living blood relatives: Queen Evaine (mother), Bors (brother), Lancelot (cousin), Hector de Maris (cousin)
Other things to mention... You need not read the entirety of the first story to join this sequel. Also, while there are some risque themes, we've already determined that it is
not to be rated mature. I appreciate posts of substance and some length. Please also be mindful of grammar and spelling and the rules of roleplaying. I take the time to double check my posts--so should you. If you are going to be absent for more than week, let the rest of us know. I won't have as much time to devote to the story now that school has started, but I will make the effort to post at least every other day.

I believe we'll start pretty soon, with an episode from one of Lancelot's adventures before he is knighted. I'm thinking I want to start with them entering Greensbury, and meeting Alanna's sister. Then they might encounter something perilous. Anyone have any thoughts??
