Beyond the Lake (King Arthur) OOC ( )

Postby daughterofdon on Fri Sep 12, 2008 10:45 pm

Sir Lancelot du Lac, famed knight of the Round Table, began his adventures in the Lake, a fairy realm ruled by the Lady of the Lake—Vivienne. The summer of his seventeenth year, the Lake made host to a knight, a girl squire, a half-fey and an exiled woodsman. While these newcomers were friendly , the Lake was not without enemies. One such foe was Iweret the Black Knight, who wished to plunder the realm’s treasures—and not only that, but have his will with Lady Vivienne, who had once borne him a son named Mabuz. At the same time that the Lake welcomed its guests, Vivienne left to confront her former lover—and fell for his trap: imprisonment in an enchanted mirror.

Vivienne’s absence was taken advantage of by Iweret’s alluring fairy mistress, Lady Delvynn, who briefly claimed the title of the new Lady of the Lake. Iweret slew Delvynn, and then invaded the Lake. Lancelot, with the aid of his new friends, defended his home and defeated Iweret and his squires. After Iweret was slain, Lancelot and company embarked on a quest to rescue Vivienne. On their journey, they encountered mighty dragons—one of which showed himself to be a valuable ally, and provided them with a magic orb that would break the spell on the mirror.

New friends were made—as well as new enemies: Queen Mab, Vivienne’s sister, and Marrik, Mab’s son, who she trained as a formidable swordsman. Our heroes braved Mab’s perilous forest realm and fended themselves against her malicious wolves and crows. In a heated duel, Lancelot nearly defeated his rival Marrik, while Mab was slain by Mabuz. With both foes subdued, they finally gained possession of the mirror and freed Vivienne.

They all returned to the Lake—but all was not well. While Vivienne was away, Lancelot had fallen in love with a young woman who wielded her father’s sword: Alanna of Greensbury. Alanna returned his affections, and the two youths were adamant that they would spend their future together. Vivienne, who believed that Lancelot was meant only for the highest lady of the land (Queen Guinevere), would not deign to allow Alanna to be present at a banquet celebrating the successful quest and Lancelot’s eighteenth birthday. In a determined act of defiance, suggested by Lancelot and aided by a handful of fairies and even Merlin himself, Alanna duped Vivienne and the lot of the Lake by impersonating Guinevere, and ultimately tricking Vivienne into granting her blessing that she should be the woman to lay claim to Lancelot’s heart.

This is the summary of “Under the Lake,” of which this story is a continuation. The first game ended with virtually everyone but Lancelot banished from the Lake, but with hope for setting out on their separate ways. Our largest party, Lancelot, Alanna, a knight-hopeful named Kantus, and Lancelot’s cousins Bors and Lionel, have been continuing in their various adventures for two years. Lancelot has not yet been knighted, and our story will detail his early adventures and his first arrival to Camelot, and meeting with King Arthur and Guinevere, as well as other legendary characters, and perhaps even some original characters. About half of our characters have been legendary-based, and half of them original creations.

Not very many new players are needed. However, what we do need are players to fill these roles:

--Queen Guinevere
--Mordred
--Merlin (I had been playing him in Under the Lake, but I will offer someone else to take him on for this game)
--Isolde (Kohananinja may be interested?)

These legendary characters are already claimed:
--Arthur (by NewArthur)
--Lancelot (by daughterofdon)
--Lady of the Lake (by daughterofdon)
--Nimue (by daughterofdon)
--Morgan le Fay (by Applepoisoneer)
--Tristan (by Aikiwarrior)
--Bors (by Jadeling Hawkins)
--Lionel (by daughterofdon)
--Gawain (by Mozenrath?)

If there is a particular knight or character you would like to be, feel free to post a profile and I will consider their inclusion. Here’s the profile to fill out:

Full name and title:
Birthplace:
Gender:
Age:
Appearance:
Brief history:
Living blood relations:
Optional-- Blazon:
Optional—Name of Sword:
Optional—Name of Charger:

I do have expectations for the nature of Guinevere, Mordred and Merlin. If you wish to write for one of these characters, you should be familiar with their legendary roles. We are changing the legends somewhat, mostly in the fact that Lancelot will not have an affair with Guinevere (although he will most likely be framed or accused of one). Instead, we plan to have Guinevere commit adultery with Mordred, as is usually the case in the earlier legends, before Lancelot was written about. This does not mean that Mordred and Guinevere need to be villains. In fact, I would prefer it that they were treated in a human light, and not villainized for their treacherous love.

As for time period, I am basing the story off of a peculiarity often found in Arthurian literature. That is, it is assumed that Arthur is a king that lived during the sixth century, soon after the Romans left Britain, and when the Saxons began to invade. However, since the literature was first written in the 12th century, that it is the time period reflected in dress and period customs. Thus, our knights do not wear full-plate armor. It is largely mail armor, worn under surcoats, like the knights of the Crusades. Ladies wear bliauts and veils.

Full name and title: Lancelot du Lac
Birthplace: Benoic (Brittany)
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Appearance: Dark hair, now grown out enough to cover his ears and part of his neck (he had shorter hair in his boyhood). His eyes are as dark as his hair, and he has handsomely thick brows. As can be expected of a knight of his talent, he is strong and tall. He is not the most handsome knight, but his disposition may aid in his appeal.
Brief history: When he was an infant, his father King Ban was slain by King Claudas, and the kingdom of Benoic was set to flames. His mother went mad with grief, and the Lady of the Lake took that opportunity to whisk away the babe, whose future was prophesied to be the greatest knight in the world. She raised him under the Lake, and loved him more than her natural son, gifting him with the finest training available to a knight.
Living blood relations: Queen Helaine (mother), Hector de Maris (half-brother), Bors the Younger (cousin), Lionel (cousin)
Optional-- Blazon: Azure, three passant guardian lions or (Blue, with three crouching gold lions).
Optional—Name of Sword: Arondight
Optional—Name of Charger: Clarric

Name: Lionel de Ganis
Birthplace: Gannes (Gaul)
Current age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Dark hair in a Prince Valiant-esque haircut. His black eyes are big and buggy with droopy eyelids. He is a rather ugly lad, on the small side for a knight. He has a strange birthmark on his chest that resembles the shape of a lion, as well as an unappealing mole on his chin.
History: Born the younger son of King Bors of Gannes (in Brittany) and Queen Evaine. His father was killed by King Claudas, who usurped the kingdom, and the young Bors and Lionel were kept as captives in Claudas’s court, under the guardianship of Sir Pharian, a friend of their father’s. Like his other relatives, he has been training as a knight. When he was sixteen, he was rescued from Claudas’s court, disguised as a greyhound, and took to the Lake to meet his long-lost cousin Lancelot.
Blazon: Argent on a semy of etoiles sable three bends gules. (White background, black stars and three red bands). These were his father’s arms as well. But there are differentiated from Bors the Younger (Ermine three bends gules).
Living blood relatives: Queen Evaine (mother), Bors (brother), Lancelot (cousin), Hector de Maris (cousin)

Other things to mention... You need not read the entirety of the first story to join this sequel. Also, while there are some risque themes, we've already determined that it is not to be rated mature. I appreciate posts of substance and some length. Please also be mindful of grammar and spelling and the rules of roleplaying. I take the time to double check my posts--so should you. If you are going to be absent for more than week, let the rest of us know. I won't have as much time to devote to the story now that school has started, but I will make the effort to post at least every other day.

Those who were in the first story, go ahead and post your profiles. I believe we'll start pretty soon, with an episode from one of Lancelot's adventures before he is knighted. I'm thinking I want to start with them entering Greensbury, and meeting Alanna's sister. Then they might encounter something perilous. Anyone have any thoughts??

HUZZAH!!!

I am so pumped for this thread! And what a lovely summary, DoD! I can't wait to see all that unfolds in THIS game...woo!

Here are my characters, ready for inspections.

Full name and title: Alanna of Greensbury
Birthplace: Greensbury, England
Gender: Female
Age: 20(? She is unsure of her true age, and so merely borrows Lancelot's.)
Appearance: Once able to disguise herself as a boy, Alanna would surely struggle to do so now. For two years she has worn her now cared for and nearly golden hair nearly past her waist, and she had matured physically into an attractive and curve-defined woman. She still leads an active lifestyle, of course, and as such has well toned muscles throughout her body. Her time in the sun has tanned her skin in a most un-ladylike manner, but her heavy-lidded brown eyes remain gentle despite her willingness to draw a blade.
Brief history: Alanna was the third child of a humble Lord and his wife. When her father and elder brothers perished (and her mother shortly thereafter, supposedly of grief) Alanna was to be sent away to learn to be a proper wife for the new Lord of Greensbury. Instead, she slipped away and disguised herself as a boy in order to learn to be a knight...feeling that this was necessary to bring her worthy father's name honor. Once she achieved a position as a squire, she began to roam as her father once had in order to assist those who could not assist themselves...still disguised as 'Alan.' It was not until she stumbled upon an enchanted lake and its champion, and assisted in a life-changing quest, that the humble woman revealed herself and began life anew as a woman...who wielded a blade.
Living blood relations: Adaline, younger sister.
Optional-- Blazon: A simple red cross over white.
Optional—Name of Sword: Justice

Full name and title: Armand the Bold
Birthplace: Unbeknown to most, Armand was actually born in Saxon land as his mother traveled to grieve her passed father. But he was raised in and is the current Lord of a small but rich estate which includes Rozeshire.
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Appearance: Thick brown hair cut short enough that his head is kept cool while in a helm. A square jaw and piercing blue eyes, along with a seemingly constant amount of scruff in place of a beard. With broad shoulders and a well muscled physique, the tall knight is considered ruggedly handsome. But he also carries with him--and usually conceals by wearing some sort of wrap--a large scar upon his throat. Once frequently seen with haughtiness in his eyes, Armand is now more often seen with a mere sternness about him, though his aggressive and challenging nature remain in tact.
Brief history: Armand is the only son of a rich Lord with a long family line filled with noble knights. When he was old enough, he was sent to another Lord's estate to work his way toward knight hood. Here, he became somewhat of a bully, with the encouragement for competition between the boys from the instructors. But his talent could not be denied by even his fiercest rivals, and he soon rose to brilliance under careful tutelage. Soon, he was out of the estate and on the battlefield, where he quickly earned his own shield and was appropriately labeled for his eager ways: Armand the Bold. After fighting briefly in the crusades, the young knight was set loose as a roving knight until it was time for him to return to court--where he had sworn allegiance to the High King--and take up his responsibilities as a new Lord.
Living blood relations: Seven sisters, many more cousins, mother.
Optional-- Blazon: Half black, half red, with a golden bear in the center.
Optional—Name of Sword: Grindinsvea
Optional—Name of Charger: Addane

Well, that's two of them. I'll get to the others later ^^

Hey, I noticed DOD did her blazon properly, so I figured I would too, and provide a link for anyone who doesnt know how to do a proper blazon but wants to do it properly:
http://igitur-archive.library.uu.nl/stu ... thesis.pdf
Also, here is a site with many of the round table knight blazons:
http://landoflegends.us/01library/05res ... rthur.html

Full name and title: Sir Tristan de Lyonesse
Birthplace: Lyonesse
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Appearance:
Tristan is a very tall man compared to most, standing at 6'1 with a strong and solid build, the build of a great knight among common standards, with strong, built muscles, broad shoulders, and finely toned body. He has long, strong legs, and a and In terms of looks, Tristan is the catch of the era, most considering his looks to be the peak of nobility and a definite prince charming. He has "Tom Cruise Last Samurai" red hair with a slight brown tinge. He has thick eyebrows, but not bushy in appearance, and has soft, friendly green eyes.

He wears chainmail armour and chain gloves, in terms of boots he wears leather boots over his feet. On top of his chainmail he wears a gambeson that matches his blazon, green with a gryphon Rampant in gold. The bottom of his gambeson goes down to just above his knees, and is fretted like an upside-down castle wall. In battle he wears a Great Helm (otherwise known as a "Barrel Helm") upon his head, and on his leather belt he carries a knightly sword on his left hip (yes thats a real kind of sword) and a skin of water, and on his right hip is a long dagger. He carries into battle also a heater shield (triangular crusader style shield). If mounted he is likely to carry a lance as well, and being of noble birth he is able to afford a chain outfit for his warhorse as well as an overtunic that matches his blazon for his horse.

Brief history:
Tristan earned his name in blood. More specifically the blood of his mother, Queen Elizibeth, for she died upon giving birth to him. King Meliodas was kidnapped at the time of her pregnancy, and she concieved Tristan in a forest, with no medical attention, and because of this, she died. His mothers last will was for him to be named Tristan, and so he was named Tristan, which translates into "Sorrow".

When Tristan was but 7 years old, his father remarried to a most spiteful woman, the daughter of King Howel. This woman was spiteful of Tristan, for she had a son, and wished that son to rule after King Meliodas' death, and so she made an attempt to poison Tristan by setting water out for Tristan as he played sport. The queen's unknowing son took the water and drank it before Tristan was finished playing, and soon after died, forging anew the Queen's resentment for Tristan. At the age of 13, the Queen tried once more to poison Tristan, by bringing him a goblet of poisoned wine. By the fortune of god, King Meliodas was thirsty at that very time, and insisted he take the first sip. The queen loved her husband despite her gridge on Tristan, and so she would not allow him to drink, and she was then caught for attempting to poison the prince, and sentenced to death by burning. Upon the excecution, Tristan was overcome by grief, and tricked his father to vow to release the queen of her fate. Because of this, his father was forced to exile Tristan against his will, but by the will of the law.

Under the care of Gouvernail, Tristan was brought to aroyal family in France ware he persued his education. Here Tristan learned the French language, learned how to weild weapons, learned how to hunt, and learned how to play the harp. During this time Tristan was said to become the best hunter in all the world, and many books of hunting were named after his practices. It was also here that he developed such mastery of the harp and such a singing voice that often times when he played and sang, people would think they were at the gates of heaven and they were hearing an angel.

Upon his 18th birthday, Tristan returned to Lyonesse disguised as a harper. His father forgave him, and his step mother loved him therafter. He resided here for some time, growing in strength and developing in masculinity, refusing to be knighted until he could depart on a quest to earn his name.

Then the time arose for Tristan's quest, for his uncle, King Mark, was challenged for an island he owned that was under truage with Ireland, but he could find no champion to fight for him, as Cornish knights were the butt of knightly jokes at the time, so much so that being called a Cornish knight was an insult. Tristan, with his fathers permission, rode to Cornwall, ware King Mark knighted him, for the sole purpose of fighting the Irish champion, Sir Marhaus, a highly esteemed knight of the round table considered to be one of the strongest knights in the world. The duel would take place on the island under truage, ware Sir Tristan took up arms against Sir Marhaud as a Cornish knight. Upon the first pass, both broke their lances upon eachother, but so fierce a blow was that Sir Marhaus layed upon Sir Tristan that his lance ran through his shield and into his chest. This wound would be a defining moment for Tristan, and the battle lasted half a day before Tristan finally scored the final blow, cleaving his sword into Marhaus' head so cleanly it took three pulls to retrieve the blade, and a great chip broke off the sword and remain in the head of Sir Marhaus. This was Tristan's claim to fame.

(Im leaving out any relations with Isolde as of now until I have a chance to talk to the player of Isolde about stuff.)

Living blood relations: King Meliodas (Father), King Mark (Uncle)
Optional-- Blazon: Vert; a lion Rampant Or.
Optional—Name of Sword: Isolde
Optional—Name of Charger: Coraine

Full name and title: Kantus Griffale
Birthplace:
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Appearance:
Kantus Is a man of a strong, lean build, and average height, reaching 5'7. His blond, unkempt hair falls down to about his armpits all around, and his blue eyes seem to pierce everything they touch, the eyes of a warrior. He is of average looks, and does not keep himself particularly well groomed, save a relatively clean shaven face, speckled with light stubble. He is laced with chainmail armour, a chain shirt, and chain leggings. He wears leather boots and leather gloves, with a leather belt holstering a longsword on the left hip. Inside of his right leather boot he has placed a shiethed dagger, the shieth laced into the rear end of the boot. The dagger long enough to barely graze the soul of the boot. Upon his left arm he carries a triangular shield, large enough to cover the body and some of the upper legs if held in front in a combat ready position; with the bottom left and bottom right sides of the shield slightly rounded. The shield, and the over tunic that he wears, are both emblazioned with his coat of arms, a griffon, wings outstretched, flying out of the shield, directed towardany opponent it might face, claws ready to ensnare its prey. Upon hs head he wears a chain hood, and a Gjermundbu Helm.

http://images.google.com/images?um=1&hl ... undbu+Helm (pictures of the helm incase your curious)

Brief history:
Kantus was peasant born, born to a poor family of little wealth, in a far off, poor town in Brittany. He took up arms as a bandit at 14 in retaliation to hefty taxes and unfair treatment from the government. Eventually a knight and his escort came questing to defeat the bandit group, and Kantus slew the knight in a duel. Then he left his village, traveling the lands imposing a knight, challenging other knights to duels, and never once was he defeated, though he never ended up fighting any reputable knights. Eventually during his travels he ran into and dueled Lancelot du Lac, and was defeated soundly. Impressed by Lancelots skill and compassion, he took up arms with him and his party on their quest to free Vivienne, and succeeded in the quest. Kantus left with Lancelot when he ran from the claustrophobic clutches of the lake, training with him and adventuring with him, admiring Lancelot and using him as a role model, seeking to become more like him. In the two years passed he changed the background of his blazon to blue, in order to match that of his idol's. It is his dream to be a knight, and if not a knight, then to serve under Lancelot.

Living blood relations: His father, His brother

Postby Kohananinja on Sat Sep 13, 2008 8:43 am

Full name and title: Lady Mennah of Rozeshire
Birthplace: She was actually born outside the lake so she would receive fey blessings from her mother’s family. After her mother’s death giving birth to her, her father mourned, and brought her home to Rozeshire where she was raised.
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Appearance: Mennah’s deep amber brown hair has grown longer as it now reaches to the middle of her back. She has soft green eyes that, accompanied with her complexion have made her quite beautiful, though she wouldn’t believe you if you told her that. She too has matured physically into a mature woman with attractive curves and such things. She also likes to where male clothes when working in Rozeshire, but isn’t as apprehensive about wearing dresses anymore. She does however make sure they all cover her upper arms, for n her left upper arm is a burned in scar of the cross from when she was kidnapped and nearly killed by a deranged monk for being half fey.
Brief history: Mennah hails from Rozeshire a small estate that belonged collectively to the diseased Sir Ollrick and his small, but rich and powerful lands. He was then succeeded by his Nephew Sir Armand the bold, whom is the new Liege Lord. She was the only child of Sir Ronald of Rozeshire, and Alaina du lac whom were join in a very controversial marriage as it angered fey and men of the cloth alike. (Halflings were quite common in the lake, but marriage between a fey and human was nearly unheard of.) After her adventures in the lake she learned to accept her natural magical powers of premonition and empathy. She also discovered she was quite a prodigy at magic, though she doesn’t like to use it unless necessary.
Living blood relations: Ralcia du lac (cousin) Ralayn du lac (aunt) she also has cousins she’s never met in the highlands of Scotland where her father hails from. He was sent away from there during the clan war as a wee lad, and grew up in Brittany and rose to be a knight in Ollrick’s court after saving his life in battle. Ronald had a sister and four brothers, all of which he thought dead, though his sister and two of his brothers survived the clan war and are the Lairds of the Clans MacAlister and MacBlain.

(There's Mennah, i'll add Ralcia and Ian later)

The profiles look great!!

I may be adding other profiles later on. Here's Maraud:

Full name and title: Maraud le Fay or Maraud du Lac or just plain Maraud
Birthplace: Isle of Man (called Sorelais at the time)
Gender: Female
Age: 565
Appearance: As a full-blooded fey of the Celtic variety, Maraud is very old, but gifted with everlasting youth, and looks to be at the very peak of adult feminine beauty. She has lustrous brown hair, which she twists, plaits and wraps quite elaborately. Her eyes are a lovely blue-green, and her skin is of a porcelain pallor. Straight-nosed, high-cheekboned, rose-petal lips—her face is of the very ideal of fey vanity. She used to have the ideal physique, as well, until she had a child more than a year ago, and has still been unable to shed the few pounds that now cushion her once-trim figure.
Brief history: Maraud has been around, and has lived in a multitude of fairy hotspots: Ireland, Scotland, Cornwall, Brittany, Northumberland, Wales. Wherever she has gone, though, she has always been by water. Late in her life, she made her home in the Lake, and garnered a name for herself as a fey of notable elegance, magic and artistry… but also of undesirable connections, particularly regarding her friendship with Morgan le Fay. Maraud cared for Lancelot while he was young (although she did not always enjoy the task), and continued to hold her unpopular opinions about what was best for him, which in fact resulted in her brief imprisonment.
After centuries of casual dalliance and short-lived affairs, Maraud finally found a man that she loved enough to settle down with: Roryn the woodsman. Two years ago, she conceived his child, and in the fair spring of that year, gave birth to a daughter.
Living blood relations: Aurora (daughter)

Let's see... I read that Lancelot was knighted on St. John's Day--which would be the midsummer festival in late June (if we assume that it is St. John the Baptist). I imagined that Under the Lake took place during the summer, and Lancelot's birthday is in June, so let's say that our current story starts a month before Lance is knighted (it is just shy of two years having passed). Thus it is late May, and Lancelot is not yet twenty. That also means that Aurora is a about 14 months old. I'll go ahead and write for her actions--I'll have to research what youngsters are like at that age.

A month should be good, because that allows them to make their way to Camelot--which is about 250 miles south of Greensbury--based on my map, and assuming that they'll be taking the King's Road, which is not a straight path.

In the mean time, I think we should check up on Rozeshire. If Jadeling and Kohananinja will agree to it, I think a wedding between Armand and Mennah would be an excellent way to get everyone together again. I'm imagining that Mennah sends Lance and company a magic invitation (you know... medieval snail mail just wouldn't be convenient). And then, since Rozeshire is fairly close to Camelot, Lance could meet Arthur just in time to be knighted around St. John's Day.

But is not a wedding just a super exciting way to start out our story??? And then the newlyweds could get started on all those kids Mennah is gonna have. :) I know--it kind of rushes the courtship stage, but that can be detailed in flashbacks if you want.

In the mean time, I will start out the IC thread, and post with Lancelot doin' some adverturin', going to Greensbury. So make sure you get Adaline's profile up sometime, Jadeling. I'm glad to hear you're pumped! So am I! Huzzah!

I figured from my map that Greensbury would now be part of present-day North Yorkshire, and so I described the scenery thusly. Feel free to describe the actual village, Jadeling. I based Alanna's new horse on the horse in your "Possibilities" picture. :) Is the background photo you used of England?

Kohananinja, go ahead and make a post to start out Mennah in Rozeshire if you want...

HUZZAH!!!

I'm so excited! And I LOVE the idea of starting with a wedding for Mennah and Armand ^-^ It makes sense to me...they've not only been together for two years, but have known each other their whole lives. After all, people were marrying and having children at much younger ages back in the day. And Armand, as a Lord, would be expected to have a wife and children right quick.

YAY!

OH my gosh-- your parenthetical notation next to Morgan's gender threw me a loop, and made me think of all the creative possibilities of having a cross-dressing Morgan le Fay! And it just so happens that she has an androgynous name. Woah... Of course, that is solely up to you, Apple.

And to help you fill out your profile: Morgan's birthplace is Tintagel, in Cornwall. Her other relations are: Igraine (mother), Morgause (sister), Mordred (nephew), Gawain (nephew), Gareth (nephew), Agravaine (nephew), Gaheris (nephew), Ywain (son).

Yay!! A wedding!! How wonderful! :) Oh, this is going to be so special! Feel free to post for Armand as well, Jadeling. I'll leave it up to you and Koh to decide if he has already made his proposal and what not...

It think it would be fun to see the proposal, perhaps in the Rose Garden. The wedding really does sound like fun, but the existent of my Medieval knowledge about weddings pertains to Scottish traditions, so I don’t think It would be the same. I’ll have to look it up and see. The proposal would also give us more time to read up upon what the wedding traditions of the time were.

Oh, I completely forgot about Ywain! I'm also sorry that the picture is sooo huge, I seem to have no grasp on pixle size or something. Anyway, thank you and I can't wait to get back into this.

Yes, I was wondering about medieval weddings as well. Here’s a description I read of Arthur and Guinevere’s wedding:

“Then, in all haste, the king commanded to prepare the marriage and the coronation with the stateliest and most honourable pomp that could be made. And when the day was come, the archbishops led the king to the cathedral, whereto he walked, clad in his royal robes, and having four kings, bearing four golden swords, before him; a choir of passing sweet music going also with him.

“In another part, was the queen dressed in her richest ornaments, and led by archbishops and bishops to the Chapel of Virgins, the four queens also of the four kings last mentioned walked before her, bearing four white doves, according to ancient custom; and after her there followed many damsels, singing and making every sign of joy.

“And when the two processions were come to the churches, so wondrous was the music and the singing, that all the knights and barons who were there pressed on each other, as in the crowd of battle, to hear and see what they might.”

Of course, that’s a royal wedding, so I imagine Mennah and Armand’s would be much smaller, with less pomp. I like the custom of carrying the swords and doves. You should probably do more research, though.

Mozenrath--I'm still writing for Mabuz.

Hey DoD, have you ever seen the movie Quest for Camelot? If not, that might be something to look into for Lionel, because in the story Sir Lionel still dies a tragic death, but a noble one saving Arthur’s life. He was also married to a noble lady named Juliana and they had a daughter named Kayley, whom the story revolves around. It’s one of my favourite movies, and I recently found out it’s based on a book called the King’s Damsel, which I’m desperately trying to find.

Get used to scenes like that "fight" against the adder, because that's how Semya acts in all the fighting he has to partake in. He doesn't even really fight, just kinda pranks the enemy to death for the sake of being funny.

I like how you used that adder, Mozenrath. I put him out there, hoping you could have Semya react somehow. Perhaps we have been in need of a character who is purely comical. Maybe Semya can get a job as King Arthur's jester. :)

You can make a post about Roryn if you want. Or do you want me to post about Mabuz first?

Kohananinja--Yes, I have seen Quest for Camelot, but that was before I was knowledgable about the legends. Perhaps I should watch it again! I just remember being annoyed by the two dragons, though. That's cool that Lionel is part of the backstory. I remember Kayley and that blind guy... :)

Garret, yeah they were always one of my fav cartoon couples. I like Lionel, and I don't want him to go without a lady, so I'd jump at the chance to put Juliana in there ^-^.
