Blood Hallow Tournament (sign ups) ( )

Postby iowa90 on Mon Nov 22, 2010 6:53 pm

WANTED!!!!

You!!!

We need capable fighters!

All elegible persons MUST enter themselves in the Blood Hallow Tournament!!! We are a nation at war and require the assistance of all fighters. Failure to comply will result in the destruction of Heptomus Prime and extend to surrounding locations.

The long lost tradition of the Blood Hallow Tournament has been reactivated and the victor will be given the Heptomus Pride Amulet. For the sake of your world, respond immediately! Tryouts will be held two weeks from today!

Blood Hallow

Let me explain the situation...

In the dead of night, things tend to be obscure and often mistaken. However, tonight everyone will know what events take place. It was a parking lot of all places. A parking lot where things generally seem empty, especially so late in the darkness. A rift appeared, a small cloud of florescent magenta and then a ripple of energy that caused a car alarm to sound. From the rift, two men shot out like bullets, one on top of the other. They smashed into the ground creating a crater from the force of the landing. The bottom man was large, his expression hidden by his bearded face. A grunt of pain bellowed from his mouth and he quickly sent his arms upward and thrusted the other man away from his position, a strength unseen from most men with the amount of force he put into his push. The opposing man was slim, maybe just above six foot and dressed in a rag torn tunic and stitched pants. Certainly misplaced when standing beside the beastly man who carried furs and well fashioned armor. But it was evident appearances are deceiving because the slimmer man landed with the grace of a cat and contorted his arms in a wild dance, flipping about his body to end in a forward thrust that unleashed a column of fire. The mountain man stood slowly and held his ground as the enveloping flame neared. Just before he was consumed, he stomped upon the ground to release of shockwave and before him rose a thick slate of rock that deflected the fire and absorbed it eagerly. Once the attack subsided, the rock shattered towards the opposing end of the parking lot where the raggedy looking and rather boyish character shifted his feet and let out a battle shout. Who knew where he accommodated such power, but the rock shards froze and began to circle him. Other bits of trash and then rocks began to swarm about the boy as if magnetized. The bearded man looked worried and took a step back. His opponent began to slowly levitate off the ground and the substances around him melted into a plasma substance that ate away at anything it touched. A burst of energy unleashed and sent the massive man sprawling backwards. He grunted in anger and turned towards the rift. With a final sigh as he glanced back at the unholy being that now hovered over the ground, the man left that world and returned to his own.

What you have just read was the final encounter anyone has had with the criminal known as Hector "Hell Raiser". General Grall, a nobel protector of Heptomus was sent to eliminate the threat and failed. After his return home, Councilor Duran, the current head of the Senate for Heptomus Prime, declared "Hell Raiser" to be the nations greatest threat. Unsure of why, it became evident when two weeks latter Hector returned to Heptomus to unleashed a devastating rain that seemed to melt away the entire city of Framely. An emergency council was gathered to discuss the options of handling this newfound threat. The conclusion... to reinstate the Blood Hallow Tournament. A spiritual competition that swapped the minds of its competitor to determine who is best suited to use the Heptomus Pride Amulet and finally eliminate the threat of Hector "Hell Raiser".

...............................................................................................................................................................................

Welcome to the Blood Hallow Tournament!!!!

This tournament has been especially designed by me to be one of a kind! While this competition will be different then most, it is important to note that it will be a standard T-1, mid tier, single elimination tournament. There will be two weeks for sign ups which will range from 8 to 16 participants.

::What is different about this tournament?::
The major difference between this tournament and others is the fact that no one will be using there own characters.

Yep, you heard me! Everyone who enters will not enter with their own standard characters but will submit a new one that adheres to the flavor of this tournament. All of the accepted profiles will be placed in a pool of players distributed randomly to the participants. Interested? Then shoot me a PM based on these following guidelines and post in this thread that you will be entering. Once a character is accepted, I will post the character in the pool below this post.

::Guidelines for Characters::
These characters should be original and designed to be used for this tournament. You can not simply edit a past character! Beside, do you really want people to play with your own characters that you use?

Power- Characters should be mid tier. Powers not allowed include: Time manipulation, Healing (including reconstruction if not human), Space Editing, or Super Forms.

Races- Only race playable is Human.

Time Period- Middle Ages meaning no guns however old fashion explosives are allowed.

Character Description- Be as detailed as possible! You wouldn't want a character that just said, "He is tall and pretty mean."

Flavor- Should be characters with some sort of backstory that goes with this planet and helps explain their motivation and personality.

Planet Details- Name: Heptomus Prime (Hep-toh-mus), Year: middle age, Government: Senate rules by the Councilor Duran, Land: Diverse with little actual bodies of water, Royalty: *none*, Races: Human, Primary Cities: Hemstaff, Trill, Igillan, Verkoffen, and Oyempit

History- As stated with flavor, it is important that you be detailed no matter how vague the introduction of the world is. You are more then welcome to create entire cities for your character to be from.

::Judgment::
Part of the judgement of your fights will be based on how well you portray the character you are given so make sure to get in depth in your fights. The rest is based on results of fight and strategy. An official detailed list of points will be given before matches begin and once judges are found. If you are interested in judging, please let me know!

Character Pool:

Hedeon, the Keeper of the Nagaoise- Created by Tormentro

Wallace of the Mountains- Created by Skallagrim

Please note that this is just the pool that participants will be receiving their character from. Not all characters will be used and not all creators are entered. Full roles will be revealed first to the player then open to public once the tournament starts.

I am bumping this because I think this is a great idea and I think a lot of the newer people or those looking to improve their skills should try this on. You have to learn to manipulate a character not of your own creation. The opportunity to role-play and develop your skill are here, don't be afraid to try something new.
The writer who cares more about words than about characters, action, setting, atmosphere is unlikely to create a vivid and continuous dream; he gets in his own way too much; in his poetic drunkenness, he can't tell the cart- and its cargo- from the horse.

Thanks Skall. Sign ups are still up and will remain open for another nine days or so. I have been contacted by some people showing interest, they just stated that it takes time to get a character up and going.

This is relevent to my interests. I will have a look through my characters and offer one through PM's if you like.

If this is still open, then I'd like to try my hand, I have a few characters that go unused and having them used by someone else won't be entirely bad. I'll PM you one, if I find/make one for the occassion.

Looking forward to seeing how everyone riffs on someone else's character and intercepting the powers in a meaningful and imaginative way. Hope to see it going soon and I wish everyone the best of luck in this setting.

If you want, Iowa, I can write up a profile for someone else to use. I probably won't be entering this tournament myself, as my record is kind of...intimidating for some people. < EYED SKALLAGRIM ACCUSINGLY >, but I don't mind making a character for someone else to have a go around with.

Whaaa? I am not in this either I just made a character to help Iowa out since he had no takers at first. I never said your record precluded you from this event, that's Iowa's call.

Records dont nessasarily matter as it is a different style of tournament. Most of the judging will be based on how well the participant uses a character not of his design. If you still would rather just enter a character instead of participating, then I wont object. I am getting plenty of characters just not so many users for them.

@Skall- is there a way I can edit my second post to include new characters?
