Vincent didn't want to sleep, he wanted to just lay and feel her presence above him because for the first time in ages, he was not alone. Despite what he wanted, his eyes grew heavy and he realized that he hadn't slept in weeks. Not that he needed it, of course, but when one was laying down so comfortably, it was hard not to fall. Before he knew it, darkness had enshrouded him and his dreams took over.

"Vince! Honey, I think that baby's coming!" Katryna whined to her lover. Vincent barely looked up from his novel and replied, "You always think the baby is coming, my dear." Katryna glared at him and a frustrated grin came across her beautiful face. "Well, either the baby's coming or my water just decided to break on its on whim," she said. At this, Vincent jumped up and immediately grabbed her, helping her to her feet. This was the day he'd been waiting for, the day his love and himself could have a family.

A certain darkness surrounded the little house. Vincent thought nothing of it and continued to help Katryna to the car. Before she could get in, bony hands grabbed her by the shoulders and sharp nails pierced her wrists. To her horror, a group of rogue vampires had caught them, and three of them were holding her lover back as the other two proceeded to sink their fangs hungrily into her neck. "Vince! I love you!" she managed to call just before one of the vampires started to devour her enlarged belly, smiling up at him as he did so.

Vincent struggled and fought hard, but he was only human, after all. He watched as they destroyed his family, and surrendered, finally baring his neck for any of them to take.

Vincent woke with a start. He sighed heavily, realizing it was only a dream. Since the first night of his vampirism, the dreams had never stopped, often changing into new scenarios. This once was new, and possibly the worse. He sat up and vowed to stay awake for the night.

Tessra used to have dreams, nightmares, but anymore she managed to block them out. Of course, she would have some now and then, but they were very rarely memories anymore. They usually didn't make sense to her at all. Tonight, though, was a dreamless night for her, and she slept only for a few hours. Waking up around three in the morning, she soon got out of bed, knowing she wouldn't be able to get back to sleep even if she wanted to. So she may as well just get up. Honestly, she almost forgot that Vincent was in the house at all, walking downstairs in her pajamas and to the kitchen. She was just fixing herself some coffee, in the mood for it at the moment. Her pajamas, actually, was just a sleeveless and low-cut nightgown, going to about her mid-thigh and just tight enough to nicely show off her form. It was just comfortable for her, really, there was nothing special about it.

As Vincent sat, thinking back to the time when he was a human, he heard sounds in the house. He wasn't sure which room they were coming from, as he wasn't familiar with the strange house. He quickly stood and ventured out into the hall and glided down that stairs, making no sound at all. That was one of the perks about being a vampire --they're excellent in the area of stealth. He turned into the direction of the noise and found they were coming from the kitchen. As he entered, he expected to find a lowly vampire scouring the house for food, but what he saw was Tessra in a rather interesting choice of clothing. Needless to say, he couldn't take his eyes away.

"Oh my."

Tessra heard Vincent, and she looked over her shoulder, seeing him looking at her. After a moment, she realized what she was wearing, and immediately blushed. In an attempt to cover up that blush, she quickly turned her head back to look at the coffee she was making. "O-Oh...I'm sorry if I woke you. I was trying to be quiet."

Vincent attempted to look away, but his efforts were futile. "I, uhm, wasn't sleeping," he managed, trying not to gawk too noticeably. "I'm sorry. For just walking in, I mean," he said, tearing his gaze down to the floor. When he tried looking up again, he bit his lip with his fangs to keep himself in check. A few drops of blood trickled down his chin as he did so, but it was better than being a pervert.

Tessra shook her head some, not looking at him. She wasn't angry or anything, just a little embarrassed. Then again, the nightgown was just pajamas--was it really that big of a deal? To her it seemed like it, she supposed, considering she was still blushing. "You don't need to apologize. It's a kitchen, just walking in isn't a problem. Would you like some coffee?"

Vincent nodded until he realized that she wasn't looking at him. "Oh, sure, why not," he said as he approached her. He stood behind her, peering over her shoulder as she did her task. Being so close when she was dressed as she was seemed rather... odd, to say the least, but he wanted to watch her make the coffee. He never could make a good cup of coffee, so he decided to see just how it was done.

Tessra didn't mind him being behind her like that, she was just faintly worred that, with the angle and cut of her nightgown, he may be able to see down the front. But then again, with its tightness, he might not be able to, so she relaxed a little and just made the coffee. She had already put enough grounds in for four cups, now just waiting for the machine to finish up. Once it was done, she poured the coffee into two mugs. "Cream and sugar? I've got some flavored creamers as well, if you prefer."

Vincent's gaze wandered down to her chest, but he quickly looked away. "None, thanks," he replied politely as he backed off a bit. He licked the blood away from his chin and lips, almost forgetting it was there in the first place. He must've looked like a murderous animal, he figured. He looked around the kitchen to look at anything but her, and wondered why she was awake. "Why aren't you sleeping?"

Having glanced at him, Tessra had seen the blood, and wondered about it, but said nothing of it. She handed him his mug of coffee, then putting some cream and sugar into her own before taking a sip. "I can never sleep more than a few hours. Or, usually, at least. Last night was no exception." She paused, looking at Vincent now as she faced him. "What about you?"

Vincent accepted the mug gratefully and took a sip without bothering to blow on it. Bad idea. "Ohmygod, so hot!" he whined as he forced himself to swallow the coffee. He waited a long while before trying to take another sip. "Oh, because I was dreaming. I had to wake up because I don't like to dream anymore," he replied, staring into the coffee solemnly.

Tessra nodded in understanding. "I know what that's like." It took hundreds of years for her stop dreaming about what happened to her in her human life, though the memories were still there clear as day. She had just repressed them, and luckily no longer dreamed of it that often. "Well, I hope the coffee helps to make up for the lack of sleep."

"It is wonderful coffee, Tessra," he commented, edging a bit closer. He didn't like large gaps in between himself and another; it was too impersonal. As he looked at her, he wondered what horrible things must have happened to her that would scar her this badly. It was a shame, he thought, because she was such a lovely person inside and out.

Tessra grinned faintly, just leaning on the counter a little as she sipped at her own coffee. "Good, I'm glad you like it." She was silent for awhile, staring down at the liquid in her own mug. Then her gaze turned back to him. "Vincent, I--" She was cut off by the sound of the front door being kicked in. Quickly, she set her mug aside and went out of the kitchen, just to meet with a foot in her gut. It sent her flying, her back hitting the counter before she fell to the ground. Vampire invaders, that much was certain.

Vincent was obviously startled by the sound, and when she went to see who it was, he wondered what she was going to say to him. Suddenly, she came flying into view, and as Tessra fell to the ground before his very eyes, he felt something inside of him snap. Rather than checking on her, he faced the one who had hurt her, connecting his fist to his face. As the invader stumbled back, Vincent took his chance to go to Tessra. "Are you all right?" he asked her, helping her up carefully.

Tessra nodded a little. "Yes, yes, I'm fine." It wasn't that easy to harm a vampire. It may have hurt when it happened, but the pain went away almost instantly. The only things that could actually make a vampire bleed without healing up right away was another vampire's fangs, and of course the only way to actually kill a vampire was to burn them. Once she was standing, Tessra wasted no time in grabbing Vincent's hand and quickly running out of the house with him while the other vampire was recovering. They were soon being chased, though, as Tessra ran with Vincent through the forest.

Vincent preferred not to run from a fight, but since Tessra was virtually dragging him along, he had no choice. He could sense the vampire was closing in on them, and grabbed onto Tessra, taking her into a part of the woods he knew fairly well. He had been chased like this plenty of times, and he figured it was better to be in a familiar place. He stopped when the other vampire was a good distance away, and picked Tessra up, placing her on a rather high tree branch. "Sit here, okay? I don't want you to get hurt..." he said, looking up at her. He kept himself in the shadows, prepared for a fight if the vampire happened to spot them.

Tessra normally would have protested to being lifted and told to stay, suggesting that she was going to be protected. And...actually, this time was no different. "I'm not just going to sit here whikle you fight, Vincent. We can fight together." They didn't have much more time to discuss it, the other vampire getting closer. "He's almost here. With both of us, we should be able to kill him."

Vincent blinked, caught off guard. "But... ah, you are stubborn," he sighed, giving in. There was clearly no time for arguing, so he brought her to the ground beside him. He wasn't really used to fighting, he'd only had a handful of fights in his time as a vampire. He hated to admit he was good at it, though. As the predator vampire approached, he whispered to Tessra, "make sure you don't get hurt."

Tessra nodded some. "Don't worry, I won't be getting hurt." She mumbled back, then focusing on the other vampire. "Aren't there things that you should be doing right now other than annoying other vampires?"
The male vampire laughed, fangs flashing a little in the moonlight, considering the sun wasn't up yet. "I suppose, but this is so much more fun. You're much more beautiful than those human females." He smirked now, advancing some. "And another plus, you're wearing the perfect outfit."
Tessra just rolled her eyes. Talk was cheap, she already wanted to slaughter this guy. In a flash, the two were going at each other almost like animals, their vampire instincts taking over. Surprisingly, Tessra actually seemed to have the advantage, drawing more blood from him than he was getting from her. After about a minute, they broke apart, Tessra leaping back to be beside Vincent again as she wiped some blood from her cheek. The cut was already healed, though, since it had just been his nails that had gotten her.
