Vincent laughed nervously. "Ah, you caught me," he said, putting his hands up in mock-surrender. He shifted his gaze to the floor, studying it like there was some kind of encrypted message he must decipher. In actuality, he was just avoiding eye contact; one of his few talents. "I certainly don't want you to not trust me, that's for sure." He could feel the uncertainty that hung in the air between them, separating them; he wanted desperately to break that barrier. "All I can say is," he looked up to meet her eyes, even if she wasn't looking back, "I wouldn't hurt you."

Tessra had been staring at her wine, but when he looked into her eyes, she actually did look back into his. He said he wouldn't hurt her, and she wanted to believe him. So badly she wanted to believe him. "Vincent...do you think you can really hold yourself to that? And...are you certain that you are even willing to trust me? You don't...seem to have anyone either. Why is that?"

Vincent smiled, but it wasn't out of happiness, it was out of sincerity. "I know I can hold myself to it." He made a crossing motion over the spot where his heart used to be. "Indeed, I don't have anyone," he sighed, remembering. "I haven't been with anyone since I was mortal, because most of the female vampires I know only want me for protection, and that is all," he explained, a tinge of hurt in his voice. "But I do believe that you are different, and trustworthy at that."

"Different..." Tessra almost chuckled, but didn't quite. "Yes, I suppose I would be different than that. But do you think you could handle me? I can be quite stubborn." She was half-attempting to lighten the mood at the moment, not liking to see Vincent solemn, or to have an awkward air between them. "If you do think that you can put up with me, then I suppose trust has been established already."

"I like stubbornness," Vincent said with a smile, "I'd say it's cute but I'm afraid you'd attack me." He laughed a bit, taking a big gulp of the wine. The glass was almost finished, and he could feel the effects of the rather strong liquor streaming through him, making his body feel lighter. It took a lot for a vampire to become drunk, so he supposed that the fault went to the way Tessra let a smile slip while she stifled the chuckle.

Tessra actually let another small smile slip, it seeming a little shy. "I wouldn't attack you, Vincent. Not just because you called it cute. At least, I wouldn't do it in my own home. Blood doesn't easily come out." She shrugged a little, that being a joke, of course. After a moment of silence, she drank some more of her wine, enjoying it as she usually did on the occassions that she drank it.

Vincent felt a small shiver run down his spine at the thought of his name on her tongue. "Oh, so if we weren't in your home, I suppose I'd be on the ground by now, eh?" he joked, a little laugh escaping his throat. He finished off what was left of his wine and admired her smile for a moment. He realized he had only known Tessra for several hours, but he felt it necessary to break through her icy exterior; that's just something he did.

"Probably." Tessra actually laughed a little as well, the wine helping a little bit to loosen her up. The wine wasn't the main cause, though. If she had to say what really made her feel more comfortable, she would have to say that it was Vincent and just his personality. Somehow, she felt that she had known him a lot longer than she really had, and she wanted to get to know him even better. "Vincent, tell me more about yourself, then. I told you about me, now it's your turn."

Vincent turned his gaze to study the floor again. He hadn't expected her to ask that of him. He thought for a moment, weeding out the things he needn't tell her, and the things that might scare her off. "Well," he sighed, "I'm quite the opposite of you, really," he said, searching for the words to explain himself. "I have a need to get as close as I can to someone; I'm rather clingy." He smirked a bit, thinking how silly he must sound. "It can get quite annoying."

Tessra looked at Vincent as he explained, and at the end she grinned faintly. "Clingy, hm? And annoying? I can never imagine you would be annoying, though the clingy part is a little easier to see. But, you know, I don't think it would be any less annoying than my stubbornness. Do you still think we would make a good pair?"

"I don't believe we have anything to worry about," Vincent said with a reassuring smile. He felt the ache in his bones, that familiar feeling when it was getting very late. He could feel the tiredness in his body, not that it bothered him much. "My dear," he started, stretching a bit, "I do believe it is getting rather late. Do you think I should go?" he asked, half hoping to stay, and half thinking it would be best if he did indeed leave.

Tessra grinned faintly, nodding. "Yes, it probably is getting late." Vampires had no need to sleep, but some chose to, just so they could feel better and be rested. "You probably should go. But, you are welcome to stay. There's plenty of room here, and the house can get a little lonely." That was certainly true, the house did get lonely when she had to be here alone.

Vincent raised an eyebrow at Tessra. "Well, that would be up to you, now wouldn't it?" He considered everything, and he certainly didn't want her to be lonely; he was just worried he was overstaying his welcome. He had a tendency to do that quite a bit, not realizing it until it was too late. He ran his fingertips along the edge of his empty wine glass nervously, awaiting her inevitable decision.

"I suppose it is." Tessra paused, finishing off her wine and then lowering the now empty glass. "Well, if you don't mind, would you stay for the night? I could really use the company." He wasn't overstaying his welcome, at least not to her. She enjoyed having Vincent around, it was far better than drinking wine and sitting there all by herself.

Vincent remained silent for a few moments. "I'm afraid I'll have to decline that offer," he said quietly. He waited a long time before adding, "just kidding, of course I wouldn't mind." A sound outside of the house caused his attention to wander from Tessra, and he kept sure to be alert. Even though she said no one knew where this place was, that didn't mean they couldn't find it. Perhaps he was too paranoid, but living in this city would do that to someone.

Tessra was a little afraid when he said he would decline the offer, but then relaxed once he said he had been kidding. She heard the same noise he had, and couldn't help but wonder if some vampires were searching. She knew there were plenty that would want to try and get at her, for one reason or another. "We should probably retire to our rooms. If something comes toward the house, I'll know."

Vincent nodded, agreeing, and stood to stretch. He ran his tongue along the tips of his fangs, a small reminder to himself. Sometimes he forgot what he was; sometimes he has to remind himself. He looked down at Tessra. "You'll have to show me, as I don't know where to go," he said this with a small smile. The thought of sleeping in the same house as her blew his mind. He felt a little odd about it, having just met her, but it didn't really bother him.

"Oh, yes, of course." Tessra stood up as well, taking care of their empty glasses and then leading Vincent up the stairs. She went to one of the bedrooms, motioning to it. "Everything you need should be in there. The bathroom is right across the hall, and my room is up those stairs right there if you need me." She pointed to the stairs down the hall, then smiled a little at Vincent before walking away to her own room.

((OOC: Do vampires even go to the bathroom? X3))

Vincent followed her swiftly and silently. He stepped into the bedroom she offered to him, looking around. "I'll try not to need you so as not to disturb you," he joked as she walked away. He lingered in the doorway a little longer until she was out of sight before returning into the room, closing the door behind him. In the bedroom, there were a few empty picture frames, and Vincent wondered what used to be in them. He sighed, flopping back onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Tessra was probably right above him, he mused.

((OOC: Hah, I'm not sure. I don't think so, though, unless they've eaten or taken a drink of something human.))

Once to her room, Tessra changed out of her regular clothes and into some pajamas. Honestly, she was feeling pretty tired right now, not having slept in a few days. Laying down in her bed, she faced the wall and stared at it. She was indeed above Vincent, so it would be easier to hear if anything was happening around him. Not that she mistrusted him, or thought he couldn't defend himself, it was just a precaution.
