Red is a fascinating color. It's associated with blood, with rage, with love - with passion. It's a dangerous color, a color that attracts the eye. We all remember what happened to the little girl who left home wearing a red hood. Some might recall the fate of the girl who had to have those beautiful red shoes. Others still know the trouble vivid red lips and a sweet crimson fruit caused for a pale princess. Sometimes they had a happy ending, and sometimes they didn't. Either way, they didn't know what they were getting into.
These boys and girls are different. They know exactly what red means and embrace it wholeheartedly. They are the passionate. They are the hotblooded. They are the boys and girls in red.

1. Plot & Setting
This roleplay centers on a band of fighters known as Apple. Many of them have supernatural tricks up their sleeve, though it isn't required of members. What is required is that they be expert in their field. Their goals are too lofty for an amateur to survive. While none could call them evil, they are ambitious, and they're willing to push the limits of honor and decorum to get what they want. Not many people mind, considering that Apple goes up against things that often don't have "honor" or "decorum" in their dictionaries.
Apple's headquarters are located in the mouth of the Grimloch Forest. Go too far beyond their base and things begin to get nasty. The deep forest is populated with all manner of menace from bandits to beasts. The terrain is not particularly forgiving, either. In short, if an ordinary person wants to get through it alive, they had best get some help. This is where Apple comes in. They are not the only such group, but they are widely known as one of the best. Apple will escort anyone into the forest for any reason - for the right price. Theirs isn't a cheap service, and on top of that, they require a share of any treasure that may be found. This is, however, issued with a near guarantee: the party survives. They're also willing to accompany groups at a slightly discounted rate, allowing the group to pool their funds.
One might think people would do their best to stay away from Grimloch, but it's the fastest way to get from the nearby settlement of Keyn to the larger city of Erlein. If one values speed, it can be worth it. In addition, Grimloch holds many secrets and, most believe, much wealth. Artifacts of times long past, treasure troves of bandits, and the hoards of vicious creatures may be there to discover. The creatures themselves can be valuable in terms of hides, teeth, and so forth. Many of the forest's plants have magical properties, but some may only be found in its very bowels.
When not escorting parties or adventuring on their own, Apple members are often found in their headquarters. The base is a well-fortified multistory structure of stone and wood. The inside is elegant and comfortable; business has treated them well. Sometimes they may also visit the village of Keyn, haunting such locations as the Lock and Key Tavern or the village marketplace.
The structure of Apple consists of a “council tier” and a “crew tier”. The council tier consists of Apple’s leaders, and is significantly smaller than the crew tier, or the general members. Council are always permanent members. Crew are often permanent, but may also be part-time. In addition, Apple sometimes works with people deemed “outsiders.” These are not actually members of Apple, but have friendly ties with the organization and may occasionally join up on a mission-by-mission basis.
2. Rules
1. This is an alternate universe roleplay. It can be thought of as a blend of medieval, renaissance, and fantasy flavors. Please keep this in mind regarding your characters. I'm not incredibly picky and do not expect historical accuracy. Again, this is an alternate universe, and it is not our Earth; it has its own unique countries and cities. However, anything shockingly modern will be denied.
2. This is a literate roleplay. By personal definition, that means I require good grammar and spelling. I don't expect perfection, but things should be proper overall. Additionally, type RP posts in third person, past tense (ex. She went to the store. She bought some eggs.).There is no minimum post length. I don't care if you post one paragraph or ten as long as your post does what it needs to do. I want quality over quantity, and if your posts are filled with needless fluff, I will not be impressed.
3. You may play more than one character as long as you can handle them.
4. Several types of character would be well-suited to this RP: a member of Apple (crew or council), a customer of Apple, a competitor of Apple, or a forest-dwelling nasty. That's not to say you can't possibly be anything else, but those are the directions you'll probably want to go it.
5. It should go without saying, but there is to be no godmoding (playing a perfect character who always wins, is never hurt, etc.) or controlling another's character without the player's permission.
6. You must be accepted before you begin posting! You may either apply with the profile skeleton provided or with a Roleplay Gateway system profile (or any other profile you have handy). However, if you use a different profile, you still need a RP sample, and I will still ask you to do this RP's profile skeleton after you're accepted. You'll be allowed to copy/paste any relevant information (appearance, personality, etc.) from your previous profile to the profile skeleton. Feel free to begin posting once you are accepted.
7. Post your application in the OOC thread. If applying with a skeleton, just post your filled out skeleton. If applying with a RP Gateway profile or something linked from somewhere else, just post something like, "I'd like to join. My profile is [insert link]. My sample is [insert quote or link]."
8. Any OOC chat in this thread is to be posted in brackets/parentheses/etc. to distinguish it from IC speech. Please keep your OOC to the OOC thread as much as possible.
9. Please don't let all the rules scare you away. I may be a little picky, but I'm really a very nice person and I'm always happy to help. The worst I can do is say, "Sorry, I can't accept you." Anytime I can, I'll offer suggestions to make the character more appropriate for the RP before I say no. Unfortunately, there are some cases that I just have to decline.
3. Skeleton
Remember, post this (or a link to your profile and sample if using a different one) in the OOC thread!

4. Example Profile
Application
Username: Marionette
Name: Reid Corvain
Age: 25
Race: Human
Role: Apple member (council tier)
Physical Description: Reid is a tall young man with light olive skin and forest green eyes. The color of his long hair is that of rich dark chocolate. His elegant clothing is tailored to his slim but well-muscled figure. When doing business (and often even when he’s not) he wears a wide-skirted red frock coat with silver and black accents and a floppy red mage’s hat to match.
Personality: A smirk usually rests on Reid’s lips. He’s a soft-spoken, playful, easygoing man. As personable as he is, he takes his job seriously. It’s difficult to wear out his patience, but if one does, it’s hard to predict his reaction. He might respond with silent, cold fury or else he might explode.
Powers and Special Skills: Reid is a mage. He primarily manipulates wood, though he has lesser proficiencies in ice and flame. His magic is chiefly physical and offensive; his skill with support spells is pitiful at best. In addition, he can handle a dagger, and if the chips are really down he’s strong enough to grapple, but these are not his forte and are never his first choice.
Equipment: He carries a dagger enchanted with flame so that it can inflict a burn.
Bio: For now, leaving this empty.
Any Other Info: Reid is disgusted by and somewhat frightened of rats. When he sees a rat, his first reaction is usually to incinerate it. Otherwise, it will probably distract him. He tries to keep this under cover as best he can. Mentioning it is one of the few quick ways to get on his bad side.
One way to get on Reid’s good side, on the other hand, is to give him black coffee, dark chocolate, or grapefruit. He adores bitter food.
Like any other council member, he has somewhat more clout within the group, though this comes with more responsibility as well. In addition to normal administrative responsibilities, some of Reid’s specific duties include providing guidance to new members and making sure any altercations within Apple are dealt with (although Reid is not the only one who does these things).
