But It’s Better If You Do; \-/ OOC Thread This Way :3

Welcome to the Gentleman’s Club, a private club which you need a certain token to get into. This club is essentially a dance club, but it isn’t the men who dance. The men are entertained, by the best singers and dancers found. Slip them some extra money, and you own them for the night, and you can do whatever you like with them. Beat them, however, and you’ll be in jail for assault before you can say ‘daiquiri’. But this mask hides a secret – the owners, and the men who regularly pay large sums of money for their girls, are running an underground drug importing company. They’ve done very well with it, and made their fortunes, but one has taken it into his head to seize the other four’s fortunes and tip off the police, so he can take the money for himself. Welcome to the club. And keep your mouth shut about this place – it’s better if you do

The club owners don’t all have to be guys, by the way – some are women, who recruit the ladies for the club and organise the shows. The person who wants to steal the money can be any gender, but remember, they’re basically a gold-digger, so please include that in their personality if you take them. Also, the token to get into the club is a certain mask given to every member, which they aren’t allowed to take off, and the people who work there also have them, and they aren’t allowed to reveal their faces.

A quick reminder of the rules :3

\-/Rules\-/
-I am God in this RP – what I say goes
-Break one of my rules, and I am within my right to kick you out of the RP.
-Romance is allowed, but please, nothing explicit. Keep it PG-13, and if you’ve bought a girl, please don’t tell us what’s happened. Just say they’ve gone to one of the rooms at the back of the club. I'll be watching for this, and enforcing this strictly.
-Let’s have a variety of different personalities here – some girls are here for the fun, some for the money and some because it’s the only place they could get a job. Same for the customers – some come willingly, and some are reluctantly dragged by their friends to be shown a good time.
-There are only FIVE places for the club owners. If they’re all taken, and you post a profile, I will reject it, and make you change your character to a member, or a dancer. Don’t throw a hissy fit, I’m not going to change my mind.
-Write at least three lines, please
-Wait until your character is accepted before posting in the IC thread - if you don't do this, you've just destroyed your chance of being in the RP
-No Mary-Sues/Gary-Stus. Your girl does not want every man in the club begging her for a dance, and your guy does not have every girl in the club begging to dance for him.
-When writing your character sheet, some detail will be nice. I’d like at least four lines, please, it shouldn’t be hard to meet now, should it?
-Different personalities please. Not everyone is unwilling to come here, and not everyone is excited to work here. Your character can also be having a fling with another if you want :3
-Swearing is permitted, but please, try not to have twelve F-Bombs in a row.
- Just overall have fun, and enjoy this RP

Jade sat in one of the dressing rooms at the back of the club, applying her make-up. Sitting back, she looked at herself in the mirror. She was dressed in her usual - a short black velvet dress, which reached just above her knee, strapless and low-cut. It dipped down at the back as well. Jade always felt uncomfortable wearing it, but she had to - her brother told her, because if she didn't, she'd be fired and unable to pay her rent, eventually becoming homless again. Sighing, she picked up the veil she always wore going onto the stage, the veil which covered her face, and when she took it off, the people watching her would be allowed to see the parts of her face the mask didn't cover. Her was a small black mask, covering only her eyes and the bridge of her nose, with black diamonds at the edges, and trimmed with silver thread.

Slipping the mask on, she pulled the veil over her face. She could see, but most people couldn't see past the dark material. She wouldn't be playing any instruments tonight, just singing. Standing, she balanced carefully on her stilettos, before leaving the dressing room, and walking out to behind the stage she'd be performing on. Customers were already filing in, and being entertained, every last one of them masked for privacy. Sighing, she let go of the red velvet curtain, and took a seat behind it, waiting for enough people to gather around her stage so she could perform.

Katrina had worked at the club for a month now, but she hadn't made any friends and she knew that the others thought she was odd and stuck-up. That wasn't the reason at all. She was just painfully shy. It was hard to believe of a girl who went out and flaunted herself every night in front of raucous young men, but it was true. When she was onstage, she was Miss Scarlett, and Miss Scarlett wasn't horrendously shy.

Katrina was.

She pulled on the unsteady stilettos and walked out to backstage. Her outfit was an extremely low-cut black dress with a lacy red trim, and there were red ribbons forming bunches in her hair. One of the club owners had decided to use her innocent expression to give her an almost school-girl look with the bunches and it had worked. Her mask covered the upper part of her face - again, it was red and black - but it showed her wide eyes clearly.

Meanwhile, Sam was just coming in, wearing a simple black and white mask. He took a seat with his brother and his brother's friends and waited for the show to start.

Danniella walked along the corridor that lead to the back stage area. It was small and easily crowded. Jade was already waiting to sing. Tonight she was wearing her blue and black strapy dress which the skirt of only just reacher her knees. She adjusted the mask that covered he face it was the same blue as parts of her dress with black detailing. Although it only covered her eyes and nose, Danniella knew that no one would recognise her, which was good, as she didn't want anyone to know what she did for a living. It wasn't the dancing of course. It was everything else. Danniella waited back stage for Jade to start singing.

"Madame Rouge" pulled her brunette curls up into a high ponytail and tightened the sash around her waist. She wore a floor-length black gown, and the sash was thick, and blood red. Smiling, she put on her red, glittering mask and went out into the main part of the club. Tonight, she was positioned behind the bar, serving drinks, but she would have to rush backstage between performances to help with some of the more theatrical costumes.

Katrina glanced over at Danniella. Often she wished she could just find the courage to talk to these people. After all, they were in the exact same boat as her and it wasn't like they were going to look down their noses at her. But Katrina was afraid to.

Another thing that scared her was the thought of the back rooms. Everyone knew what happened there, but she'd never been "bought" yet and didn't like to think what would happen if she was. Could she even go through with it?

She gulped and waited for Jade to start singing.

Jade was nudged, and told she had to go on. Standing, she walked towards the microphone, but decided to dispense with the veil that night. Pulling it off, she handed it to a stage hand, before continuing her walk towards the microphone. The curtain was still down, but she heard the instruments start to play, and started into her first song, 'Miracle' by Paramore. The curtain rose as she sang, and she was greeted by a cheering crowd. She smiled, to let them know she'd seen them, but didn't stop her song, she knew how to do this now. She was just glad she wasn't filling for the dancers, and knew after she'd finished her songs, someone would slip her some money, to 'buy' her, and she'd take it without a word, in case her brother's wrath came down on her again.

Katrina went out as she heard Jade start singing. The dancing was risque enough onstage; tonight she had to move around and dance right in front of the men. She moved around the room, closing herself off in a shell. Katrina wasn't doing this. Miss Scarlett was.

Sam watched in awe as all the pretty girls danced around the room. His eye was drawn to the one on the stage, and a specific few who were dancing in front of people. He wondered if he should buy tonight.

"You'll get used to it." Danniella told her. "You're not you when it happens. You'll be Miss Scarlet. Like it's never me doing it. It's always Black Diamond. And no one ever has to know. It's the point of the masks." She smiled at the girl. "I could tell by the look on your face. The fear in your eyes. You'll get used to it. You'll have to. We're all the same."
Danniella's eyes strayed from the girl to her boots. The stilleto heel made it uncomfortable to walk at first, but after nearly four years, she was used to it.

Katrina thought back to Danniella's words. "Thank you," she'd replied in a small voice, and then there'd been no time for anything else. But she wished she'd been able to say more. Perhaps now was her chance to make a friend.

God knows, she needed one.

Lori smiled to herself as she served the customers with their drinks, humming happily along to the song. She had only been baught twice before, and that had been when she was on stage, filling in. Barmaids almost never got 'bought', after all, everyone's eyes were on the singers and dancers, not the people handing out drinks. She poured herself a glass of wine and sat on one of the barstools, watching with a smile. "Miss Murder" had an amazing voice, and she never failed to impress the crowds.

As Danniella danced on the stage she prayed that tonight she wouldn't be' bought'. She was envious of Lori who most nights worked the bar. She could sit back and watch the show if she wanted to, serve the customers when they wanted drinks and not be on edge that she'd be 'bought'. The barmaids hardly ever got 'bought'. Everyone's attention was always on the show. Which was why it had to be perfect. The dancing had to be step by step perfect and the girls had to look flawless. It was that that caused the attraction that made the girls be bought. The inhuman flawlessness.

'Miss Murder' finished her first song, winking teasingly at her crowd. It's what she was payed for, right? She introduced herself, in case anyone new was watching her, and told the boys she was still 'for sale' if anyone was intrested. She needed to extra money, she'd fallen behind on her rent a little because her brother had forgotten to pay her. Nodding to the musicians, they struck up the tune to Rhianna's 'Umbrella', they had to do it once every night because her brother said that it got the crowds going. Jade had no idea where his logic had come from, but she had to obey him. She'd been tought that since she was three years old, and it was hard to grow out of the habit of obeying every male she came into contact with.

Lori saw Danniella looking at her, and smiled warmly at the other girl, sipping her wine thoughtfully. In a way, she felt bad for the dancers. They had to be perfect all the time, and had to feel the eyes of about a hundred pervy men on their bodies. Still, their outfits were beautiful, and Lori would love to be able to dress up and dance around every night like they did.

- - -
Madelaine Rousseau sat in her office, one of the back-rooms of the club, with a drink in one hand and a pen in the other. Paperwork was a tedious job, and one that she always found herself stuck doing. With a sight, she drained her glass and let her hair down from the tight bun on the back of her head, blonde waves cascading down the back of her surprisingly youthful body.

A few minutes later, the woman walked into the main room, wearing a floor-length scarlet gown and a silvery mask. Smiling, she moved over to where her daughter stood, whispering in her ear.
"Astrid, darling, tonight's solo-dancer has taken ill. Apparently she took something that didn't agree with her. You're going to be filling in for her."
"Yes, Madame." She replied, grinning happily at her mother. This was exactly what she wanted. One of the main spots in the night's entertainment. She would walk on in a simplistic black tutu and leotard, and perform a sweet-sorrowful routine that she'd actually helped choreograph, and then the skirt would come off and the music would cut to an upbeat dance-track while she pirouetted and sashayed her way around the stage. Unable to contain the excitement, Madame Rouge rushed off to change, leaving her mother to tend the bar.

Sam gawked around the room as the girls in their tiny dresses danced past him, some of them focussing directly on a particular guy. He really wanted to buy one. After all, he'd been raised to believe that women weren't important. Katrina noticed his perverted gaze and felt uncomfortable as she went by him.

While Jade was singing her set, Lori was hurriedly changing into her costume backstage. One she'd tugged on the sticky-out black tutu, she let her hair down and put it into a long braid, which hung down her back, looking almost like a tail as it swayed with her every movement toward the edged of the stage. She watched from the wings, growing nervous now. This was going to be her first time out on the stage by herself, and she was dreading it. She didn't know how Jade could stand to be the focus of every single man in the room, it must be terrifying.

Across the room, she could see her mother flirting with a young man at the bar. This took away some of her panic. It was always so funny to watch as "Madame" played with the heads of the men in the club, and they were always so unsuspecting.

Jade decided to cut her set short that night, quickly racing through two songs, and the finishing up with 'But It's Better If You Do', before leaving the stage. She made her way to the bar, and ordered herself a peach and lime daquiri. Turning around in her seat, she sipped her drink, wondering if she'd be bought that night, and hoping she would. It was for the money, and she was quickly running out of hers, and she didn't know why, because she rarely spent things. She'd come to the conclusion that someone was leeching money from her bank account, and now kept her money hidden safely in her apartment.

When Jade finished singing, the curtains came down and Lori got into position, trembling a little. When the curtain lifted again, a single spotlight lit the stage, and the music started. Launching into her routine, Lori tried to block out the audience, convincing herself that everything would be fine. This was what she'd wanted after all.

Once the fast music cut in, she ripped off the frilly tutu and danced faster, already starting to enjoy herself as her heart raced in her chest. The routine was short, but tiring, and she was already getting out of breath.

Finally, it was over. Lori smiled and curtseyed a little before leaving the stage to put on her more 'normal' dress from earlier.

Miss Murder certainly had looks and a voice that could kill, Blake noticed as he nonchalantly pressed his back up against the red velvet cushioned booth. With a bit of a smirk to his lips, the man to his right nudged at him to get his attention. The night had only begun and Blake already knew what he wanted.

The strip joint veteran sits two away.

"Sir, a moment of your time please," a stern voice came from the old man two seats away. The old guy already had his second lap dance for the evening and he didn't seem moved or phased by them at all. With a sigh, Blake uncomfortably shifted as he rolled back his broad shoulders in his custom tailored black suit. A white tie hung loosely around his neck as his dark brown hair brushed the edges of the mask that concealed his face. Whispering to the man next to him he said,"Remind me again why we always do business here? Am I the only one that thinks taking that girl up on stage to the back room is more fun than doing business with this old fart?"

To his luck the music drowned out his whispers but even so, Blake figured the man was old enough to be slightly deaf. His friend nudged at him again with a slight laugh to get him to focus. Looking up on stage he tried to catch Miss Murder's eyes as he watched her made her way over to the bar and winked at her. Turning his attention back to the old man he spoke directly to him,"What have you got for me?"

The old man was quick to reply as he seemed to be somewhat distraught,"I regret to inform you sir but tonight's shipment has been delayed." The old man could see that Blake was not happy about the news that was just relayed to him. And to think he was being cock-blocked by the old nut, for him to tell him that his shipment has yet to arrive! Standing up he towered over the old man and spoke to him gravely,"See to it that it gets here by tomorrow evening." The old man quickly nodded as Blake excused himself from the table to stalk his prey.

Sam had made his mind up. He was going to buy someone tonight. It all depended on who. There was that innocent-looking girl who was wearing bunches, and the girl who'd been singing on stage before. Miss Murder, was it? Then there was Madame Rouge, who was onstage now. He turned to his brother Paul, older than him by three years. Sam himself was twenty.

"Are you buying tonight?" he asked.

His brother nodded. "Yeah." He already had his eye on Miss Murder and Madame Rouge. Sam decided on the one with bunches.

"Me too."

His brother looked round, surprised. Sam had never bought yet. Paul's friends laughed and clapped him on the back. Sam got up and approached the girl with bunches.

"What's your name?"

"Ka ... I mean M-miss Scarlett." The reply was faltering and made the risque name seem all the more ridiculous.

Sam slipped over his money. "Let's go." Her face a frozen mask of fear, Katrina allowed herself to be led to the back rooms. Meanwhile, Paul continued leering at the other girls.
