Character Theme Songs ( )

Postby Saarai on Wed May 19, 2010 8:57 am

Probably a thread like this somewhere, but what the hell? Tell me, and the rest of the site, what would your character(s) theme song be? Be it for certain occasions, a victory, a loss, whatever. Or, whatever song or songs sum up them and their life. You can tell us why you chose the song(s), why it best fits them, why that song out of maybe millions of others, etc.

For my character, Izumi, this song...

King Of Darkness, by Tech N9ne

I chose that song because it represents where he'll (possibly) be going in the future. Plus, the dark theme of the song matches the dark themes I usually portray with the character.

Lazarus Grey, the insane vampire, has this for theme music.

Muse - Hysteria

Naturally, it carries a lot of meaning for him.

For Anodyne, I chose the song The Ripper by Judas Priest. It has this feel to it that reminds me of the Underworld movies and the lyrics relate so much to the character.

*Cracks knuckles*

Okay, this was hard...

Actually, I kinda lie... halfway. For certain characters, the decision was easy. For others, not so much. Not so much at all.

Perhaps the difficulty I had was due to the fact that I believe my characters to have pretty fluid soundtracks... they're constantly switching genres, tone, volume or whatever depending on what they're going through at the time... And, as people change, so do characters. My personal theme song from yesterday would not at all fit me today.

So... That being said... These songs apply to my characters recent events or extreme personality traits as of right now... or, in the case of Eva, from a short time ago.

In order of their creation:
EvaLazaro - Blue October - "Let It Go"
(Eva's been having a hard time in life... Most recently, heartbreak... and she's been wondering recently why things hurt so badly, why things have happened the way they have, etc. The question of "How could I let it go?/Why do I feel?/Why do I feel?/Why?" is something that has been in her mind a lot recently.)

Sophia Voth - Ani Difranco - "Not a Pretty Girl"
("I am not a pretty girl/That's not what I do./I ain't no damsel in distress/and I don't need to be rescued/ so put me down punk/wouldn't you prefer a maiden fair?/Isn't there a kitten stuck up a tree somewhere?" Sorry... just fits her too well....)

Gayle Rue - REM - "Night Swimming"
(Gayle, having committed suicide before ending up in Wing City as her purgatory, equates death with 'floating in the black.' As such, as often as she is able, she finds a body of water and floats, staring up at the moon and stars, wondering why she was brought here, why couldn't she die...)

Ilse Klein Gauner - Eisbrecher - "Adrenalin"
(Ilse is a bomb tech, loves explosions, guns, driving fast, causing a distraction... She's pretty bad ass for a kindergarten teacher who might just be an adrenaline junkie... The translation of the German lyrics fits her as well, especially: "I am dynamite/ready to explode./I'll carry you all away/I have nothing to lose/I feel invulnerable...deep in me adrenaline burns... I force you to your knees/I am addicted.")

The decision for all of these is mostly lyrics based... although the feel of the music is important too.

Edit #1 - Forgot to include why each song fits each character.
Edit #2 - Ilse's song to Kazen on 'dancing'

I claim you as my lifemate.
I belong to you.
I offer my life for you.
I give to you my protection, my allegiance, my heart, my soul, and my body.
I take into my keeping the same that is yours.
Your life, happiness, and welfare will be cherished and placed above my own for all time.
You are my lifemate, bound to me for all eternity and always in my care.

Well, Since Savvie pointed me in the right direction here, I was thick and didn't know it however. Haha, anyway.

This was quite easy, Kel'thoros is depressing and still emotionless somewhat
David is an upbeat, yet creepy character

Kel'thoros: When he first arrived, he happened to be rather depressing character. So when he was lurking about, this suited him
System of a down- Lonely day

David.F.Morgenstern: When he was with sophia, they happen to have a so called "Brotherly" relationship, where she happens to attempt to kill him, under the pretense of she can't. I just recon she fails at killing people. At this point, He was reliving what he had done to the world by a 'friend' of his.

What I've done- Linkin park

I haven't actually roleplayed my other characters enough to warrant a theme song. Lulz.
Anyway.

For Nadja, it would have to be:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4ajJipyy3w

Massive Attack - "The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game"

She came to the multiverse to try to find something to solve her problem. Her Sisterhood made it so that she had to have a baby by the age of 25. If she didn't, she would be sacrificed for the good of the sisterhood. The child, if born male, was sacrificed. If female, it was given to the Sisters to raise. Since she came seeking one thing and one thing only, to use men in a way to get what she needed, she was surprised to note that she actually fell in love.

For Isabella, I'd go with Handlebars by Flobots. In my original story as well as in the roleplay I've based loosely around it, her dreams of conquest start out as innocent, even justified, but as she amasses power and support, she grows steadily more corrupt. At the point in the story I'm working on right now, I don't doubt she would "end the planet in a holocaust" if that's what it took to keep her power.

Well... My absolute favorite theme is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnG5X7iU4B0 It just takes 0 imagination to see someone just slowly trodding off into the sunset on the back of a horse... A camera sweep allows you to see the ravaged or saved town as one man lay dead in the street, a single gunshot wound to his heart.

I chose this next song, Slug From A .45 by Esham, for my character Kazen because it best fits his insane, violent, uncaring nature when it comes to his own life. It doesn't matter, if he catches a bullet, who cares? He doesn't. It happens. And he knows that.

I also chose this song for Kazen,I Murder by Boondox and Esham, because it's exactly what he is. A murderer. He kills. Be it for fun, or for his work. He'll kill you. And, he will enjoy it, he will take his time. This song represents the character the best.

And for Lolita Cruz... finally. I hardly knew this existed, I think... can't remember it at least. But! What matters is that I found it...

Here is a song for Lolita, that I think describes her sexiness, the way she can dance, her voice, her sexiness... wait, I said that already didn't I? Ladies and Gentlemen I give you... Shakira- La Totura

For Phinx, I chose 10 3 Day (Ten Tray Day) by members of the Grape Street Crips. The song is because of the character's gang affiliations to Grape Street Crips and it can best describe her mentality in the lyrics. Especially in the chorus where the gang and neighborhood are referred to as bullies.

Phinx is a bully.

The only character that I have found a suitable theme song for is Zerel Akara. And that theme song is 'It's my Life' by Bon Jovi.

For any that know (or know of) the character, it kinda makes a lot of sense.

So, I've been listening to this one song because of someone else linking it to me. It's so damn great and it reminded me of the Invictus, a mercenary organization I created. Even though the organization isn't just made up of my own characters, I think this song fits them all as a collective.

Sleep- Poets of the Fall.

I chose this song for Saken because it really does match her, and her personality, on the more deeper levels of her Psyche. A lot of the time that Saken is stalkin' and hunting people she's not in her right mind- channeling someone else, but also enjoying the physical ques that her body is giving her whilst despising it.

For my character, Shade Crosskarma, it'd have to be: My Wonderful House from Mother 3.

Shade's pretty carefree and cheerful, much like the song.

Another song I've chosen for Izumi is Inertia Creeps by Massive Attack. This song sums up how Izumi tends to feel when it comes to the women in his life. What goes through his mind.
