Charlie and the Chocolate Factory RP (need two kids)

Topic Tags:

If you need roleplayers for your roleplay, this is the forum to post your "Seeking Players" topic.
By "small," I mean a minimum of five (aside from me) and a maximum of ten, so it could actually turn into a large group RP if we have enough people willing to play parents. Since CCF was made into two (count 'em, two) movies, starring the likes of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp, I figure most everyone has either read the book or seen either movie at some point in their lives.

Some Plot, for those of you who haven't read the book/seen the movie:

The Wonka chocolate company is the largest producer of chocolate and candy in the world. It's like Hershey, Nestle, and Kraft all merged together and all they sell is candy. It's not a monopoly, but it's by far the best candy out there.

Their factory (their one factory) is in a medium-sized city in England. They used to hire the people who lived in the town, but now nobody ever goes in or out. All that goes in is ingredients, and all that comes out is candy, which is loaded onto trucks by machine and the truckers.

Willie Wonka recently came out with a worldwide contest, the prize of which is a day-long tour of the factory for the winners, of which there will be five. There are five golden tickets hidden randomly in five Wonka candy bars, and those who find them are the winners.

In the book and movies, one ticket is found by the hero, Charlie Bucket, who is a nice, pleasant boy with a dirt poor family. The other four winners are quite bratty, obnoxious kids who each have one sort of flaw or another; Augustus Gloop is a glutton, Veruca Salt is a spoiled brat, Violet Beauregarde is addicted to gum-chewing (and is also portrayed as over-competitive in the Depp movie), and Mike Teevee (lol, pun names ftw) is addicted to television (especially shoot-'em-ups).

They tour the factory's many marvelous rooms, in which crazy insane candy-making things happen. All the children except Charlie eventually get removed from the group---they somehow get trapped in the workings of the factory. (Augustus is sucked up a pipe bearing chocolate, Veruca is deemed a "bad nut" and sent to the furnace, Violet is inflated with blueberry juice and has to be ushered out to be returned to her normal size, and Mike is shrunk to the size of a mouse, and leaves to be stretched to normal via taffy puller.) Don't worry, none of them die---but they're not to happy after it's all over.

I'd like to use OCs in this, other than Willy Wonka (who will be me). One kid, four bad kids, and person to accompany them (most likely a parent, but not necessarily---Charlie was accompanied by his Grandfather). The parents can be NPCs if nobody takes them.

Characters so far:

Good kid - DeeviousDemon - Laura - 11 - England
Parent - Open

Bad kid 1 - Paramorex - Joleigh - 9 - France
Parent - Open

Bad kid 2 - Open
Parent - Open

Bad kid 3 - Open
Parent - Open

Bad kid 4 - Open
Parent - Open

Sorry, but you can't play as an Oompa Loompa.

Guidelines:
Each bad kid should be well off, they should NOT have any hardships in their past. The good kid, however, ought to have some trouble in his life. Staples in this character could be selflessness, despite never getting what they want; and respect for others, despite not always being respected. I'd prefer for this character not to have a really dark background (girl who gets raped and beaten by her father and three older brothers every night = BAD), but the character's upbringing doesn't necessarily have to be as wholesome and loving as Charlie's.
Keep cursing to a minimum unless it's part of your character's flaw.
Flaws can be as specific or as broad as you like. Augustus's was broad---he was a glutton. He ate a lot. Violet's, however, was rather specific; she liked to chew gum too much.

Character Sheet:
Name:
Age: (between nine and thirteen, for ticket holders)
Flaw: (if a bad kid)
Personality:
Country: (it's a worldwide contest (the factory is in England, make sure you can get there))
Bio: (Explain how you got your ticket, if you're a ticket holder. Can be as long or as short as you want.)
Appearance: (pictures are fine)

OMG!!! Jumps *** I am sooooooo in.... I love the story! I'd like to reserve the good kid role!

Character Sheet:

Name: Laura Tinsilton

Age: 11 1/2

Flaw: I don't have any!! I am a very, very good girl! *blinks innocently*

Personality: Charming and sweet, despite the life she lives she tries to see the good in the bad. She always says her 'Our father' before going to bed, to sum her up in three words - gentle, kind and caring. She has a weak spot for kittens - infact they have six plus the momma cat - even though their lives aren't that of the rich, they feed them all and give them a warm and loving home. Nevertheless her innocence isn't a deficit, what she lacks in years she makes up with a very bright mind. Compassionate, even the smallest of animals have a place in her heart. She's a vegetarian and if you haven't guessed it yet - she loves animals to bits.

Country: Margate, Kent, England - is that specific enough?

Bio: Growing up in a small town and in a very religiously orientated family, she's known nothing but kindness in her life. The economy going downhill, thus leaving many people jobless or redundant was taking it's toll on the young girl. Her parents both out of work, living in a small house out of town, they were only barely making ends meet. Cutting down on food, going to bed hungry - was now all part of the pretty girls life. With all these things happening she never let her grades at school down. She would always try her best in what she did, with the materials given to her - and she'd hardly disappoint anyone. A very intelligent girl, naive but that just couldn't be helped. She was pretty sure that anybody could change the world, if only they were wanting it enough. Her goal was to study hard enough to get a scholarship to a wonderful University and study medicine. She would help those in need by flying over to countries where competent doctors were needed. She had seen and read reports about 'doctors without borders' and she wanted to be like those men and women when she was old enough.

One day she was walking home from school, the candy shop just around the corner - the one which she would stare at from outside, since she hadn't had a penny to spare - the older lady inside noticed her and called her in. A little scared, Laura made her way through the group of kids her age who were starting to tease her for her scruffy clothing. Through the years she had learned to ignore it, though it always did make her very sad. Her face must have shown what she had felt deep inside, the Lady reached across the counter and handed the little girl a Willy Wonka Chocolate bar. Blinking confused at the Lady she refused the bar, telling her she hadn't had any money to pay for it. The old Lady just shook her head and insisted upon Laura taking that candy bar.

After countless tries of refusing it, she accepted the bar with a wide smile on her face. The soft features of her tiny being, lightened up even more when she opened up the bar to find one of the Golden tickets inside of it. Not knowing whether to cry or laugh she stood there in a daze. The old Lady laughing loud, hugged her tightly - letting go of her briefly she shouted out onto the streets that one of the golden tickets was found here in their small town. Within minutes people rushed to see her and the ticket, the local newspapers and later news channels broadcasting the little girls face worldwide as the 5th and last ticket holder to the famous Willy Wonka factory.

Character Sheet:
Name: Joleigh DeBoir
Age: 9
Flaw: She's a complainer, someone who is never satisfied and relies on everyone else to do things for her.
Personality: Joleigh is a girl who knows what she wants, and plans on doing anything to get it. She is selfish, and really doesn't care about anyone other than herself. Everything is for her, no matter if it was intended that way or not. She is completely obsessed with her looks, no matter where she is or who she's around. Being around Joleigh is never exactly pleasent, and you can expect a lot of screaming, crying or complaining from her.
Country: France
Bio: Joleigh is an only child to the very wealthy parents of Dianna and Pierre DeBoir. Growing up, in exchange for her parents time and care she was given material items. Toys, clothes and really anything a kid could ask for, Joleigh got. She never really spent time with her work-aholic parents and grew up knowing that she deserved anything she wanted. Once the Chocolate Factory opportunity came around, Joleigh was quick to beg and cry for one of the winning tickets. Her father bought over 20,000 of the chocolate bars and hired people to unravel the chocolates. After opening only 1,721 bars, a ticket was found and Joleigh was on her way to England.

She seems awfully similar to Veruca Salt, but hey, I like Veruca Salt. She's in.

Yeah, I apologize for the similarity. My creavity level is at an extremely low point right now, but thanks for accepting me.

Deevious is in, also. It'll be interesting to have a religious "Charlie" as opposed to a secular one.

We could use some boys, though. I won't require even gender ratios, because really, it's random who gets the tickets.

I'm excited for this roleplay. I hope more people join so we it starts soon =D.

Thanks for the bump. Have you got any ideas as to how to draw attention to this thread? We do kinda need all five kids to start the RP... I suppose I could allow you and Deevious to have second characters or take on one myself, if we can't get enough people interested.

Do you care if I make two characters? I really want to be a girl, but I want it to be even with the gender ratios. If I can't, I'll just edit my guy character out.

Name: Caroline Harrison

Age: 13

Flaw: She's a pathelogical liar; There hardly ever is a time when she hasn't lied. She's also a bully, nobody has stood in her way before, why would they now?

Personality: Caroline is very cynical and manipulative. She looks at people on how they could be useful to her, not the actual person. She's a social climber. If she wants something, she makes sure she gets it, and no one will stop her. Not even her parents, as she's walked all over them all her life. They give her anything she asks them, and they believe anything she says. She has a group of friends that protect her and do things for her, without getting anything in return. They're puppets, she's the puppet master.

Country: America

Bio: On May 12th, Caroline walked into a candy store with her "friends", and waited in line for the legendary Wonka bars. She knew that with everyone in her group, totaled up to six people, and they all bought a Wonka bar, one of them must get one. And of course, they would give it up to their leader, and Caroline would have a one-way ticket to England.

But something unexpected happened. The little nerd, Tommy Brack, who did the group's homework and never squeeled to his parents, seem to be pleased in his Wonka bar. A little too pleased. She walked out of line, the rest following her, and stalked Tommy. He was holding the legendary Golden ticket. She caught up to him, and threw him against the wall.

"Hi Tommy."
"He-he-hello, Caroline. I-I-I got your homework d-d-done, I'll give it to you at, um, school t-t-tomorrow."
"Oh, but you have something I need, Tommy."
"W-W-What d-d'you mean, C-C-Caroline?"
"You wouldn't be stuttering if you didn't know, now would you?"
"Caroline, please. This might get my-my-my mother better. She has to get surgery-"
"If I cared about your mother, I would've asked her for the Golden Ticket. Hand it over, you thin-skinned, little twerp."
"Please-"
"HAND IT OVER!"

In tears, he handed the ticket over, immediately getting knocked out by one of the jocks from the football team that had an obvious crush on her. She ran home in delight, explaining to her parents that while waiting in line, using her own money, she bought a Wonka bar and amazingly got a Golden Ticket. She got a new computer the day after.

Appearance: Image
She's 4'11", pale, and has green eyes.

Two characters is OK, I suppose. It's not like the spots are going fast.

Name: Erin Canni Dixon
Age: 9
Flaw: Erin has a very quick temper. She hates sharing things. She is greedy and selfish, and can sometimes be a spoiled brat. She also likes to steal.
Personality: She is very harsh a cruel. She absolutely hates contractions, and will snap at anyone who uses one. She may sound like a complete demon, but she has her up-sides. She is hyper and energetic, and a little shy. The only person she won't bully is her baby brother, Erik. She is very smart and pretty. She takes insults as compliments, and she loves video games. Her entire family (excluding Erik) are theives. She goes to school and acts likes a normal School-girl. She is very adorable, but that is only her disguise.
Country: Paris, France
Bio: Erin was on with her older brother, Raoul, on a theiving lesson. Yes, her brother taught her how to steal, and he decided to finally go on a 'feild-trip' out into the city to see what she could do. They were in a large crowd, consisting of at least thirty people, trying their best to get to a less crowded part.
"Alright," Raoul whispered to her, handing her a sack when they were in a small clearing. "Get as much stuff as you can grab, but, remeber-" "Don't get caught," she finished for him, grabbing the sack and opening it slightly. "I know, I know." Raoul smiled at her and nodded for her to go on. She walked off, careful not to get lost in the sea of customers surrounding the local stands. She may be nine, but she was short for age. She glanced around at the stands. There were all sorts. 'Where should I start?' she wondered.
Not paying attention to where she was going, she wandered over to a stand selling candy. But not just any candy. Wonka candy. Erin didn't really like candy, but she snuck one anyway, just for the thrill of getting away. She quickly shoved the chocolate bar into her bag, not really caring to stop to see which one she picked up. She made her way to some other stands, and in no time, her bag was about full.
She jogged back over to where Raoul was standing, waiting for her. " 'Bout time you should up. I was about to go lokkin' for ya!" Raoul chuckled. Erin rolled her eyes and opened the bag a tad bit more to show him the contents inside. Raoul glanced over it, nodded, then motioned for them to leave.
Later that night, Erin was going through her stuff. She had dumped everything onto the floor of her bedroom. Well, sort of her's. She and Erik shared a room. Erin picked up a small teddy bear that she had taken from a sleeping baby, and, giggling to herslef, handed it to her little brother. He squealed with delight, and hugged the bear tightly. Erin smiles and continued back to her sorting. She had sorted everything by now, except for the Wonka bar. She stared at it. She had heard about the Golden Tickets but didn't care too much about it. She thought that the kids getting so over whelmed and buying about twenty bars a day a a loose screw.
But, it wouldn't hurt to just check, right? She slowly opened the bar, doing one side a tiny bit at a time. She closed her eyes and ripped the paper right off. In her hands was...just a Wonka bar. She couldn't help but let her heart sink a little. But then she noticed something. She been holding it upside down! She turned it right-side up and, sure enough, there laid a Golden Ticket. She stared at it. Diddn't move. Didn't breathe. Then, without saying a word, she ran down into the kitchen, where her mother and father was. "I found one!" she exclaimed to them. "Found what, darling?" he father questioned. "I found a Golden Ticket!"
Appearance: Shoet red hair that goes to her shoulders. Usually wears a small black beret. She has deep brown eyes and the prettisest smile. She is slightly tan. She usually wears a shrot sleved pink shirt with puffy sleeves and a matchin pink skirt that goes half-way to her knees. She wears pink and white tennis shoes. She has the basic appearence of a normal School-girl. She always wears a small black messenger bag accross her chest.
