CherryRed is back, and her artwork has improved! ( )

Postby CherryRed on Fri Aug 05, 2011 3:05 pm

Hey there RPG! Went through a bit of a bumpy road in life, I don't much want to talk about it, but now i'm back! And I look back at my posts and pictures and just about want to die. I can't believe I did some of that. But now I have improved, and I am ready once more to post art and roleplay! (Except I now have dial up. Darn. That shouldn't be too bad, though!)

This is April, a good friend of mine's character! I drew her to his specifications. :3

Those are practice drawings, so I could get used to the program that i'm now using. (Easy Paint tool SAI, now. : D)

Aaaaaaand.. there was more... but they're on my DA account.. so if you want to browse there, go ahead. :3 I'll post more pictures here when I make them, though!

I have to say...I'm quite envious of your ability to paint/draw animals. =3 Very nice work, love! Keep up the good work.

Been a while since I've posted!

Basically, this is my 'ghostie' Pat.. only... he's in clothes for a role play with a friend I have going based in the future when he's not a ghost and he's really a captain of a space ship. What. Haha anyway yeah. He is very much alive in this picture, but this is basically what he looks like;
Another thing.
The background is only the background because he is back on earth for a little bit, because his ship just got the hull beaten out of it.

PS. I know the background is blurry, and smudged in obvious places. That's... just because i'm too lazy to do a good job on it right now.

You've got a good thing going but have you ever tried shading on that colored portrait? And also you might try adjusting your proportions alittle just experiment with them that's what erasers are for right? :)

Hehe, Shading.. I haven't been doing that lately. Shoot, I haven't been doing much drawing at all. And thanks for the tips, I'm definitely going to be trying to get back into it, with better proportions etc etc. I'm actually probably going to switch out of 'cartoon' all together for a bit; not sure if i'm going to post any of THAT here, though! ; ) One thing, though; I hate erasers. ._. I'm really quite horrible; I sketch in pen! But that's not the point; we need not look into my sketchbook. I'm pretty sure all that is going in this is from my tablet, sooo.... I guess erasing.. SHOULDN'T be a problem. : )

Experiment a lot with in life portraits, get some friends to be models for your drawings or if you're too shy, find some great start images with a lot of different values to draw from. Especially with the texture and flow of clothing over the body, human anatomy, and coloring. Your proportions aren't bad at all, I think the posing and the lines so far though need work from real life and practical study. Are you currently in an art class? Don't limit yourself at all in art if you plan to grow in the craft. Try all types of mediums and quit the bad habits of saying "I don't like that. I don't to try the new." And think with practice you can be an accomplished artist. Just remember it's a daily marathon. ;]

Woah! I love stuff with colors. I second Mid's opinion that you do animals really well.

I'm trying to find a way to describe the style that you have. It almost has an old-school comic book feel to it, but for children. Younger people. Less about the breasts and muscles and more about just capturing the essence of how a human is designed.

Did that makes sense? I don't know. Just know you have an audience member out of me. (:

Thanks for your guys' support! One thing I should let you guys know of though: I lost my tablet pen. Again. And I have no idea where it walked off to... so I probably won't be able to post anything else up for some time except maybe track-pad stick-figures. D: Again, thanks loves, you're all amazing. Thanks for the compliments and the great advice. I will keep both close to my heart <3 : )

It's not impossible for draw with a mouse if you have the time and patience to learn to overcome the obstacle. I've seen a lot of artists make great digital work who couldn't afford a tablet for about a year or two. So I hope you find the pen or find a way to make some more work. We are eager to watch you grow. =)

I FOUND MY PEN. Mwahaha. After hours of searching, I have finally found it.. in my pocket that went through the wash.

So In celebration, I drew this quick picture (it took like, an hour and 10 minutes) .. .Uhm.. Adam. I decided to draw him after a long period of not drawing most of my older characters... Ah.. It's not exactly the best shadowing job, But I decided to do it just for the heck of it. Not too bad, ne? Lol the moon is not a circle. That makes me both happy and sad all at the same time. Anyway, Yeah, thought I'd post this.

Cool picture! I'm just imagining if this were to happen in real life -- someone going all the way up in the middle of the night to a barren cliff to pose for a painting. xD
