Here's the OOC: child-left-behind-twilight-spoilers-ooc-sign-ups-t14352.html

Emilia sat out on the back porch of her parent's large island home. Okay, so they weren't really her parents. In fact, Emilia hadn't been with her real parents since she was an infant, she couldn't remember them at all but she knew they weren't capable of taking proper care of her. So here she was, on Guati Isle with her foster parents, Cataline and Joseph. Oh yeah, one more thing, they're vampires. You'd think Emilia would be afraid, terrified even, but she wasn't.. she trusted them too much. In all her years here, being the eldest child, her parents had never once harmed her. In fact, she was probably a lot safer here than with her real parents. She remembered the day she figured them out like it was yesterday.. she was seven years young, and very curious. She had merely followed them into the woods, she had always been curious what they did out there.. Now she knew. And because she knew, she was in grave danger. Today she would ask them, ask for the only way she knew her family had a chance of being spared. Today she thought with a sigh, grabbing for her crutch and standing up from where she sat.
"A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is brave five minutes longer."

Cataline Moore was feeling exceptionally content. She was wrapped (rather unnecessarily) in a thick, wool blanket and snuggled up comfortably with her husband on the couch. Their television was humming along on its lowest setting across the room, but she was not paying it any attention. She sighed and wiggled, somehow managed to fit herself closer around Joseph. She could almost sleep she was so relaxed.

Joseph glanced down at her and smiled. "You like the cartoons that much, Cata?" he snickered. Cataline rolled her eyes back at him and was about to respond when she heard Emilia shift out on the porch.

Emilia stepped inside through the back doors, smiling and turning slightly red when she saw her "parents" acting all lovey dovey. "Is.. this a bad time?" She asked, laughter in her voice. She wondered how Cataline and Joseph could still be so deeply in love, even after nearly a hundred years together. It made her smile, it gave her hope. Maybe she would find love one day too, but could it possibly be as strong as theirs? If she was going to go through with what she knew had to be done, then she would have more than a lifetime to look.

Karra crept down the shining wooden steps silently. She could hear the television at a low level and heard her older sister and parents talking. She walked across the cold floor and sat down on the floor quietly, outside of the room where they all were.

She smiled, hoping that soon they would talk about something interesting that she would get to listen in on but she also hoped that it wouldn't take too long considering she was hungry and wanted Cataline to make her something.

Evan ran along the beach, the ocean spray soaking the bottom part of his jeans. He laughed and did a flip. Why was he so hyper? He ran into the woods and gave a huge jump into his favorite tree, his feet hanging off the branch. Then he saw a snake below him cunningly sneeking up on an unexpecting mouse. He smiled slyly and silently turned around, now crouched on the gigantic branch. The snake sat for a moment and he jumped from the tree landing on the snake. He pinched a place between the neck and head, the snake would still be able to breathe but he wouldn't be able to bite Evan. "I'll call you Monty." he smirked. He grabbed a part of the snake towards the end and guessed its length. "About five feet." he assumed, it wasn't the biggest but it would do. He started walking towards home, his muddy and scratched up feet sank into the earth. He will have to wash his feet before he entered the house. "Emilia will get a kick out of this!" he exclaimed happily. He loved his life.
And God Created Woman.
And She was Good.
And she had two arms, two legs and three breasts.
And God asked woman what she would like to have changed about herself.
And she asked for her middle breast to be removed.
And it was good.
And she stood with her third breast in her hand
And asked God what should be done with the useless boob.
And God created man.

Cataline and Joseph looked up and smiled at thier eldest daughter. Cataline noticed Emilia's blush and sat up, tucking her feet under her. Joseph began to pout.

"I was warm," he whined. Cataline smacked his leg good-naturedly.

"Don't whine in front of the children. It sets a bad example," she answered primly. "You will not freeze. Now," she hooked her hair behind her ear, turning back to Emilia. "It is never a bad time for you, mi amor. What's up?"

Emilia smiled for a moment but the smile faded quickly as she began to talk. "Mother, a man named Carlisle Cullen called today. He said we are in danger." She whispered the last part, just in case the others were listening in. Carlisle had told her everything, about the Volturi and about how she and her family were in danger, for revealing the ancient vampire secret to humans. She knew but one way to get the Volturi off their back, and it wasn't going to be an easy one to ask of her parents.

Danger

The word itself had an extreme and instantaneous effect on both vampires. Cataline felt Joseph tense and then, in that moment, his prescence was gone from beside her. He reappeared at the window, ears and eyes vigilant upon the sourrounding forrest. Cataline was wracking her brain for the name, Carlisle. It sounded... not familiar but vaugely correct, as if Cullen would naturally follow. Her own eyes narrowed and she leaned forward, intense.

"What kind of danger?" she asked in a whisper, very aware of Karra listening in the other room. "Did he threaten you? Us?" The old her, the human her, would have been terrified.

Instead she was angry. She could almost feel that Joseph was too and his tension reverberated and added to her own.

"N..no mom!" Emilia could feel her hands shaking at her sides now, she hadn't expected her parents to react this way. "Carlisle didn't threaten anyone, he warned us.. about the Volturi." She whispered. She still didn't know much about the Volturi, only that they were cruel vampires living in Italy who lived to keep order amongest the other vampires of the world. She was instantly at her mother's side, clinging to her arm as if she was a young child again, she always felt safe here, warm in a way which was not physically possible for a vampire. "I'm scared.." She cried quietly.

Karra's eyes narrowed when the sudden voices became blurred whispers. She could no longer make out what her sister and parents were saying. "Something exciting must be going on," She thought. She rubbed her eyes once more, still tired and slowly walked over to the doorway. She moved next to Emilia and looked at her and then to her mother who was sitting on the couch to her father who had moved over to a large window. The thing that surprised her though was the look on all three of their faces. They all seemed very aware and surprised or frightened. She couldn't tell exactly but she had a feeling it wasn't too good.

"What are we going to do today?" She asked quietly as she slid past her sister and sat down on the couch next to her mother.

Nathan had been up in his bedroom reading the entire Harry Potter Series since six o'clock last night. He loved reading. It was something that he was very good and advanced at and he believed that it made up for his lack of strengths in physical activiy.

He smiled to himself as he tucked the last book back into his large book shelf. He pulled off the T-shirt that he had been wearing and slid on a new red collared one. He slid the socks off his feet and pushed his glasses up closer to his face. Walking down the stairs he noticed an unusual quietness that filled the house. He peered into a few rooms until he noticed most of the family in one of the more family roomish rooms. He crept in and felt an unwelcomed feeling, not a bad one just one that felt like he shouldn't be in there so he turned and walked back to the doorway. "Did you make breakfast?" He asked as he turned to his mother.

Joseph hissed under his breath and stared hard at his wife. Her arms were encircled around Emilia in a way that was much more than just comforting. It was protective. They both knew well what the word Volturi meant. The Great Wars of the South had come by Venezuela long before any of their children had come along. They both remembered well the deadly and absolute power that came with the name.

"¿Qué haremos?" Cataline whispered at him. Joseph darted to her side and kissed her forehead quickly.

"We'll do whatever we have to," he answered in a whisper, his hand falling gently on Emilia's hair. "There's nothing to be afraid of." He was, of course, very thankful of his ability to control his tone so thouroughly. Both Nathan and Karra had already stumbled upon them and he needed to keep them both calm. "The children are hungry, Cata," he urged, taking hold of his daughter. Cataline nodded and moved gracefully into the kitchen, beckoning for Karra to follow. It was unlike her to forget to make food for them... she was usually clamoring for them to eat more than they ever needed.

"What would you like to do? Have you finished your work for online school? And you too, Nathan?"

Joseph sat down and pulled Emilia into his embrace. He almost chuckled... almost. He seemed just as reluctant to have the children out of reach. "Emilia, what did this Carlisle tell you, exactly? Will he be calling back?"

Karra looked around the room at her tense father and mother, her crying sister and how Nathan had quickly left the room. She followed her mother into the kitchen and sat down on one of the stools as she watched her mother set up.

"What's wrong?" She questioned quietly.

Nathan quickly walked into the kitchen and sat down next to Karra. "I'll have pancakes, please," He replied to his mother's question, "And yeah. I've finished my homework for the week."

He pulled his glasses off of his head and shook out his red hair. He had always felt like the unusual one in the family because of it. He wiped off his glasses' lens and gently put them back on as he waited for his mother's response to Karra's question.

Evan leapt of the deck stairs that led to the back door. He washed his feet off and placed the writhing snake in a tub. He placed the lid with poked holes on it and made his way inside. An awkward feeling swirled around him and he traveled to the main room and saw Emilia curled up with Joseph and Cataline making food, as usual. "Hey guys!" he said enthusiastically, he brushed his head, sand spilled onto the floor. He did too many rolls along the beach. "Watcha makin?" he asked Cataline.

Emilia pushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear and sighed. She was the only one of the children who knew of her family's secret right now, but that obviously wasn't going to last long. It was a hard thing to keep from her brothers and sister. Even if they weren't related to her by blood, they were family and she hated keeping things from them, even if she knew it was for their own good. "He said not to call back because he would not be home, he said it was urgent and he and his family were coming here as soon as they could.." She whispered this, resting her head on her father's shoulder for comfort and shaking only slightly. Why hadn't she told her family earlier? Why had she waited until now to tell them that Carlisle called even thought it had been several hours. She only had one answer to this question, fear. She knew too well the only way her family would be safe. "Dad..." She whispered so quietly that only Cataline in the other room would be able to hear, with her vampire senses and all. "This is my fault, because I know about you both.. they are after us, and it's my job to end it." She hoped she would able to guess at what she was saying, she hoped he would see she was ready to become what they were.

Alice stood at the front steps of the Cullen household, waiting impatiently for Bella, Edward and Renesmee to arrive. Where are they already? Can't they tell we're in a hurry? What was the reason behind her family's rush? Well, of course it all began with a vision. Usually Alice's visions were about familiar places and people, but since the small town of Forks, Washington had been almost eerily quiet lately, she was starting to see things happening in other parts of the world. An earlier vision showed a young teenaged girl, very obviously human, standing protected behind a vampire couple. Amongest them were several other human children. What had this vision meant? The next vision was similar, but this time Alice saw what the children were being protected from, their old "friends" the Volturi. Knowing this family would have stood up for Renesmee and the others in their time of need had they known them, Alice was quick to inform Carlisle of this vision. Esme seemed to have connects with the family in her vision so here they were, heading out to a small island just east of South America. This would be interesting.

Esme made her way out of the large white Cullen home. She carried down one small backpack which held a pair of pajama pants and a new outfit. Esme was sure that her family would be staying on the island for more than one night but she did not want to be a heavy packer and decided that she could borrow clothes once they reached the island. Although she did not need to sleep, Esme had been informed that Joseph and Cataline had adopted children since the last time that her and Carlisle had heard of them and she Alice had informed them that the children were human so Esme knew she would have to fit in.

Her face was pale as she walked out of the Cullen household and outside. She turned to Alice and smiled although she was still tense. "See anything about Edward and Bella coming anytime soon?" She questioned as she set her backpack on the sidewalk and looked up at the sky. The Cullen's had been lucky enough too many times and she had a bad feeling about this one ; especially because the Volturi was involved. Though she did not doubt the strengths of her family and two other vampires along with Renesme although Esme would hate to see her grand daughter have to fight.

Esme caught herself from thinking about only the negatives. There were positives to this situation. She had always wanted to have children and although she oculd never physically have them she would now get to spend time with human children. It would be a new experience although a dangerous one.

Joseph almost felt as if someone had hit him in the stomach, forcing the air from his lungs. Quickly, he hugged Emilia tighter to his chest. She had been his first daughter, the first to learn to walk and talk. She was a miracle. "Don't even, think that way, Emilia Moore," he instructed firmly. "It is not your job to do anything. We are a family and we are responsible for each other. You aren't alone in this, understand. And for the love of God, don't talk like that in front of your mother," he chuckled. "The woman is very willing to give up hunting and post herself permanently in front of your and your siblings' bedrooms. Please don't give her a rational reason."

A muted hiss, only loud enough from him to hear floated from the kitchen and Joseph laughed again.

Cataline managed a genuine smile. "Nathan's having pancakes, so we're having that unless anyone wants anything else." She doubted they would... Nathan and Karra were too intent on knowing what was wrong. Sharp children, those two. They often made it the hardest when keeping the secret...

"And... nothing is specifically wrong. We're just going to have some company that we may not be quite ready for." She quickly set the gridle on the stove and started it heating while she found the ingredients for pancakes. She mixed it all quickly, just a touch quicker than she should have. The stress was making her careless. "Um, Emilia, could you cook the pancakes for me, they're all mixed up and everything. I just need to start on something. Joseph, ayudeme, por favor."

She slipped out of the back door, frowning distractedly at the sound of something slithering in one of the tubs, and out to the side of the house where there were no windows. She turned and Joseph was there, his arms out and waiting for her. He held her patiently while she clutched at him, her face tucked into the crook of her neck.

"You listened?" Cataline nodded. "We could run." Cataline shook her head.

"They wouldn't understand and the Volturi would find us anyway. It never helped any of the others when they ran."

"We could fight."

Cataline shivered from the raw want in Joseph's voice. He was a man-- vampire-- who was fiercely protective of his family. He would enjoy defending them.

"I hope the Cullens arrive soon..." she sighed and breathed his scent, trying to convince herself that they would all make it through this.

Karra's face brightened when her mother mentioned company. It was rare to have people visit and Karra hope that the company would have kids. "Okay," She replied to her mother, completely content with the answer she had recieved.

Nathan on the other hand knew that his mothers quick answer wasn't true. He could feel the tension in the air as he pondered upon the thought of why hid mother believed he was ignorant enough to believe that lie and he planned on questioning his older sister.

Emilia's face hardened at her father's words. She knew he was right, that she wasn't in this alone, but oh how she wished she could be. How she wished it was so simple, that she had but one small sacrifice to make, one she was honestly willing to make for her family. But she knew instantly that both Cataline and Joseph would instantly disapprove, it wouldn't be this simple.

Life moves quickly around you during the worst moments, there were things to do, many things. And right now Cataline needed Emilia. It seemed like a simple thing, pasting on a fake smile and wiping tears from her swollen eyes as she made her way into the kitchen to finish the mess of pancakes her mother had started, but honestly it felt like the hardest thing in the world. She stirred the pancake mix slowly, refusing to even look at her siblings, knowing the questions would come soon and knowing that lying to them would be another difficult task.

--

Alice sighed calmly at Esme's worried questions. She closed her eyes and focused on Edward and Bella, to hopefully see where they were but things were always hard to see with Renesmee around. She opened her eyes to realize her efforts were unneeded, the small family of three was sprinting towards them at unhuman speed at that exact moment. "That answer your questions Esme?" She chuckled affectionately towards her mother-like figure. "You need to calm down Esme, I mean I'm the one who saw the visions and I'm calmer than you. It's going to be fine if we get there in time, and we will. I can see it." She said, so sure of herself.

--

Renesmee was grinning widely as she flew across the forest on her mother's back. Even at that instant, when she was sure her mother could see the scene just as well as she could, if not better, she had her hand on her cheek, flashing images from only seconds before through her mind. This probably confused the hell out of mom, and this amused Renesmee. She giggled cutely at the fun she was having, still slightly unaware of the situation.

"Emilia!" Karra shouted happily once Emilia had hurried into the kitchen. "Company is coming! Do you know if they have any kids? Are they going to bring presents? When are they coming?" She asked, the words more swiftly like usual when Karra was excited.

She pushed the strands of blonde hair out of her face and waited for Emilia's response.

Nathan knew something was not right though. He crossed his arms as he stared at Emilia's back. "Who's coming, Emilia?" He asked. "And why?" He was sure that he would get some fake answer so he began to think of followup questions until he would be able to get the truth out of her.

Emilia sighed, let the lying begin. She turned and smiled at her little sister, Karra. "I don't really know much about them, I only spoke with the father, Carlisle. He seems like a very nice man and from what I heard his family is very nice as well. They will be arriving shortly, I think." She said with an innocent, confused look on her face. She turned her back to them to dump the pancakes onto a large plate and then turned back to place the plate down on the table in front of the kids. "I think their last name is Cullen.." She answered her brother truthfully. "And.. um.. I don't know why they are coming, maybe they have something important to tell mom and dad." Well, it wasn't completely a lie.
