"I do? Well.... I don't. I just say things like these when I can't think of anything else to say. Well... you got 3 basemen, a pitcher, catcher, center, left, and right fielder, short stop, and whatever else I forgot. It's simple, really. I can't stand to play it. Watching it is not so bad, but yeah. I suck at explaining things. I just have this retarded friend who gloats about how well the Devil Rays are doing."

"Oh," she replied intellegently. She didn't like the way things turned awkward. "I have this one friend
who never shuts up. Ever. He will find something to talk about, no matter where we are. It drives me insane, though I think that is the main reason why he does it."

Suddenly, a loud bang was heard as the door to the coffee shop was flung open. "So this is where you've been! God, I thought you ran off and left me to look after Jaks AGAIN! You know the little guy gets upset when you're gone for too long." Nweris put her face in her hands and just shook them back and forth. A woman of average height with dirt blonde hair walked up to the table. She had grease stains on her clothing and a smugde on her cheek. She stopped as she noticed the woman wasn't alone. "I see. You met a guy. Well it's about damn time! All work and no play makes for one frustrated woman, if you get my drift. So you gonna introduce me or what?"

Nweris sighed and looked up, her face flushed. 'I am sorry,' she mouthed to Jakob before turning to the woman. "Kali, this is Jakob. Jakob, Kali. We just met and were having coffee together. Kali is my... roommate." Kali smiled, "Best one I ever had. Pays the rent and barely ever around, though I guess you're planning on sticking around now, huh?" she asked as she pulled up a chair. Nweris merely sighed and flung her head down on the table again.

"Uh. Hi?" Jakob asked, looking to Nweris with a pleading look in his eyes. "Me? Sticking around? Uhm..." He blushed a dark red and his eyes fell to the table. He had no idea what to say now. "Uhm. Hi. I just met her....? I mean, I wasn't trying anything, honest."

Tell me she isn't jumping to conclusions already!

Kali smirked at the guy as he fumbled over his words. "O come on now. Don't even try telling me you don't think she's hot." Nweris flushed a deep red. "Kali! I do not think that is appropriate conversation material. Please, we only just met..." The woman rolled her eyes, "Ya, ya and you're just having coffee. I get it. And you," she said pointing to Jakob, "don't be too timid with this one. She's more likely to not notice than to make a move."

The warrior rose from her seat and gave Kali a look. "I am going to the wash room. Kali, please go. I will meet you at home. Simply give Jaks some treats to keep him quiet." She walked off and through a door. "God, I thought she'd never leave. So tell me kid, what's up with you two for real?" the mechanic asked eagerly. "Don't dance over it either. I don't like trying to play the guessing game. I'm no good at it."

"Uhm. I was drinking coffee and she sat down at my table." Jakob said, his face rather serious. "If that denotes as some sort of marriage ritual from where you come from, I have no want in it... I was just having coffee with a nice girl, even if she was cute." He smiled wanly at Kali. "I imagined she'd be one of those attractive, nice people you meet that you talk to for a day, and then never see again in your life. Situations like these happen everyday to everybody and I don't see why you're making a big deal out of it."

It was the most outgoing he'd been all day. But the women's demeanor made Jakob uncomfortable. Could he seriously not have coffee and flirt with a girl and not have to play 20 questions about it?

Kali frowned. "Damn and I thought you'd be the reason. Guess there's something else going on with her. And hey, no need to get pissy with me. That girl doesn't talk... to anyone, so excuse me for making this 'huge' deal about it. She must be sick today or something." the girl mused. She looked around the room and was going to make a rude comment when she saw Nweris approaching from the corner of her eye. The woman stood and placed her hand on the warrior's head and thought for a moment. "Feel's normal. Anyway, I'll see you around, I got better things to do than mess around here." That said, she stormed out of the door and back out on the street.

Nweris blinked at her a bit before resuming her seat. "I am sorry about her. Kali is... well, very opinionated. She can be difficult to deal with a times, but she is a good person at heart. Though I have never seen her leave so quickly. Whatever it was you had said to her, you must teach me." She laughed a little at her small joke.

"Eh, I think if she knew me better she would of kicked me in the teeth. And I don't need dental work that bad." Jakob said meekly, a little embarrassed. That's what he got for speaking his mind. "But it's fine. Everyone has the over-protective somebody. Well, most people."

"The fact that she did not take a swing at you speaks volumes," she muttered. The fact that she came looking for her in this coffee shop unnerved Nweris. Had she been following her? What was she trying to figure out? She shook herself from her musings and looked at Jakob. "So what did you two talk about? No wait, let me guess. It either had something to do with engines and mechanics or the latest gossip."

"Neither." Jakob said, looking at the table. "She still persisted in asking whether or not we had some sort of relationship." He smiled weakly, looking up. "She obviously cares a lot about you." He paused for a moment. "She was rather tough about it... have you been in some sort of disaster in relationships before?"

"She is a good friend, if a bit brash at times. I am sorry about that, I did not know she would look for me." Nweris paused for a moment before continuing. "She only knows of one relationship. Sadly, it ended poorly. But that was a long time ago. I've actually been keeping myself busy since then, what with my constant travels and all. I have not been able to have a relationship since then." She sat for a moment, contemplating why she had told a person she met what felt like an hour ago her personal life. She looked back up and smiled. "And yourself? Any disasters in your history of relationships? I find it only fair to ask the same. Of course, if you are uncomfortable speaking of it, you do not have to."

"Uhm. I got left for some other guy." Jakob said, smiling. "And then I got left for some other guy again. Oh, one time I got left for another guy." He laughed. "Obviously you get my point. Apparently I am a stepping stone of sorts." He looked away for a second. "I apologize for asking... I guess curiosity will make me ask personal things."

"I have the same problem when I am nervous and curious. I once asked a blind girl why she had bandages around her eyes instead of the usual glasses. Not one of my most shining moments," Nweris said, smiling at him. "And I am sure you learned something from each relationship," she tried reasoning. "Such as what type of person you feel more compatible with versus another. Or what to look for in another person."

"I learned not to date," Jakob said. "If that counts." He grinned recklessly. "I look for someone I won't be attracted to.... so that I don't end up dating them and ruining everything." Jakob self consciously fixed his hair.

Od sits outside the coffee shop wondering if he would be welcomed there. He smiled and strided away but soon turned around and looked again. "A cup of coffee would be great, but..." he strayed away looking around again.

The girl looked like a prude in a way, her wine colored jacket, pulled tight with a high collar and larger cuffs I made her look sharp and smart, accented by her slightly horn-rimmed glasses. Her posture was rigid, and proper as she walked up to the counter, and bought a tripple shot espresso. To be honest, she was worn out after a hard day of work.

Nweris frowned slightly but hid it well, sipping at her drink. "I suppose that would count," she said as she put down her cup and pulled her hair out of its confines. She ran a hand through the black locks that feel to about mid-chest before putting it back up. It was a habit of hers when she was trying to keep her mind occupied.
