Complex, Sophisticated, Collaborative, High School Roleplay?

Yeah that's right, I said it.

Honestly, high school roleplays are a guilty pleasure of mine. And I say guilty for a reason. They end quickly, have little to no plot, and some of the characters...

*shudder*

Anyways, I propose a roleplay that has none of these issues.

I'd like to center it around a group of skilled roleplayers. People who are dedicated and want to contribute to making a story. If you think you could take on such a task, please continue. If not, look no further.

I'm open to the time period/type of school, but this is what I was thinking.

Our story takes place in To be Named (TBN?) Academy. TBN is an elite, private school for rich kids. As we craft out characters (I'm thinking 6-10?), we'll discuss OOC about the relationships they have with each other. The character interactions, plot twists involving their affluent families, and underlying social codes.

Interested? PLease post. This is a very bare-bones idea and I'd love to have people to develop it with me :)

I'm interested in doing this. Your right about high school rps dying to fast the majority of the ones I joined don't make it pass the first day of school and the others just for some reason die. So hopefully with a real plot this rp with be able to last.

What sort of ideas are we looking for? highly dramatic, everyday...?

Regardless of when it may happen, I, too, might very well be interested. C: I'm always up for a high school roleplay, but as has been mentioned the quality is often... lacking. T_T

Thorough plotting, character relations, and overall brainstorming is in my opinion literally half the fun of a roleplay. I would love to hear if or when you get the time to go through with this. <3

I would love to join in on this roleplay, I've been looking for a group roleplay for a while that will perk my interest and if this could get a plot going, I would be very interested. I also like the idea of the gay romance that Everscale brought up, I wouldn't mind to have my character to be part of it.

Hm, now this... this sounds interesting. I personaly both love and hate high school roleplays. I mean, you should write what you know, yet writing it well is just as important. Sooo... I want to do this. However, when would it start? I'm not available to start RPing until next month.

Unless someone else steps up to take the reigns. Nothing specific has been suggested except having a more sophisticated version of the HS RP. I am not and have never been a high school RP guy, I just like good stories with good characters. So while I don't do high school stuff, I would definitely be down for one with people who are really interested and would stick around.

You don't need someone to be a straight up GM as (Gryazi even has collaborative in the title) to have interest and keep something going, many RPs here are not so much RPs as I always played (having stats that the GM can use for your actions) as being collaborative writing.

So, if enough of you guys are interested, we could just get our own shit together and try to start something. Every RP that I have joined so far dies after about a month, other than one that I joined where I just didn't really enjoy the other people's writing styles. That game is still ongoing.

I would be down for a mature, sophisticated, collaborative RP here with people who actually stick around. Since Gryazi is busy, are you guys still down for this or no? Gryazi could always come along when they have time. I myself would be down for a cyberpunk sci fi setting with a high school, so it isn't a simple modern drama, but has more intriguing elements to it. I'd be open to whatever as well.

I'll pitch my idea real quick (just the backdrop nothing specific on the school other than what type). Keep in mind that I, as G said, propose collaborative.

Decades in the future mankind has made tremendous leaps and bounds in technological advancement, much of which the government tried to keep from public knowledge. They found it impossible to stop the outflow of ideas from the innovators of the world. With more tech has come more corporate power, and more governments infringing on citizen's rights. Most major cities have cameras on every street corner, with the police growing more powerful by the minute. The excuse for this exercise of authority? The rampant drug use and crime rise that skyrocketed along with technology; the number of teens using drugs in the U.S. is at its highest rate ever and murder rates haven't stopped climbing with a nearly overpopulated planet of people breathing down each others necks.

Robots and AI are becoming part of society, sending people raging into the streets into debate about what makes humans human and if machines deserve rights. All this happens while the problems of abortion and gay rights are still undecided. Plenty of people remain ignorant of all this, continuing on their rampant consumerism, absent minded to any reality, proposed or true. Then you have others locking themselves away in their room, addicted to virtual simulation games that make the old classic World of Warcraft look like checkers. With all these problems in the world children face a more difficult progression than ever before. No one remains untouched, and that includes the students of ___( Insert School Name Here )___.

I'll stop it there. That is just a world backdrop, and pretty rough. Instead of a rich kid private school I would propose a public school, with less fortunate families. Perhaps there would still be some wealthier families, but not everyone would be well off.

So is that setting in the least something people would be interested in or no? Further setting suggestions or additions/changes? As I said, I just want to be in a good RP with people who are interested and invested in at least completing a story arc to a satisfying conclusion. RPs don't have to be never-ending, conclusions are nice.

Personally, I do enjoy high school roleplays very much! But unfortunately, skilled and dedicated rp'ers are hard to come by in this field. I'm fortunate to be in such an rp right now on this site! ^^ but will always be more than eager to jump in another one that has a clear set goal, plot and good quality characters. It's what makes it fun! So, my hat is in the ring for interest.

I had a perfectly average high school plot in mind, but that idea doesn't sound bad either~! Gives characters something to think about, I suppose, haha - and things to do outside of school.
