A word so unfamiliar on your tongue, ne?
Maybe you would be more familiar with the term, ‘witch’, or maybe, ‘wizard‘.

History and Lands:

(The word cut off on the right is Teroin Sea. Sorry, the cruddy-assed map is too wide for the screen. I made it myself, not that it's really something to be proud of...)
Witches and wizards, amongst themselves known as Core Beings, reside mainly in the large clearing of Moonflower Grove, located in the center of the Adalei Forests. The Adalei Forests occupy the center of the continent of Srinne, which is the sole (known) continent in the flat world of Frimnul.
There is another continent, an island, really, spoken of only in myths. Chiduline. It is said that this island is where the witches and wizards originated from. Of course, this is entirely true – the Core Beings that now reside in Moonflower Grove are just a small part of the Core population. The mainland Cores are commonly referred to among the originals as ‘wiccans’, a term used in scorn as a wiccan is someone who is mistaken for a witch or wizard (Core Being), while the mainland Cores refer to the originals as ‘Blacks‘, and sometimes ’darkies’ by younger mainlanders. The reason for the separation between the groups would be major disagreements in the uses of ‘Black Magyck’, an art which Cores on the mainland today speak little about, as little is known.
Black Magyck had been proven to cause difficulties with Cores, ranging from hideous and permanent disfiguration (THAT is where the humans get the silly illusion that all witches/wizards are ugly) to killing them, to even worse – losing their Magyck. The disagreement involved fighting over whether to continue in experimenting with Black Magyck, which eventually led to the separation of the original Core population into two groups, the smaller of which moved to Srinne and now reside in the depths of the Adalei Forests.
But anyways.
It is well-known throughout the Core Being population – though maybe not in the human world – that each Being is gifted with a Core Magyck (hence the name ‘Core’ Being), which is a certain element or specialty that a Being has unlimited and effortless access to, despite other spells or elements that would take time and energy to utilize. For example, a Core Being with a Core Magyck of Fire would be able to instantly create a massive amount of flames, while to a Core Being with another Magyck could take hours to cast or create the same effect.
For every Being that has a Core Magyck, they also have a Core Weakness, which is a certain element or specialty that is like an Achilles Heel to a Core Being. For instance, a Core Being with the Core Magyck of Fire would stand no chance against a Core Being with the Core Magyck of Water or Ice. Water or ice spells, even if they were not a Core Magyck, would also greatly weaken such a Being.
Core Beings can indeed cast spells, though it takes a toll on them. A young Being could get exhausted after only one spell cast. It takes time to perfect the casting ability, and then some more time to memorize spells and chants, not to mention the materials needed for more complicated spells.
Differences in power are referred to as titles among the Beings, from Youngling (a Being who has yet to cast one spell) to Apprentice (Being in training) to Core Being (full-powered Being) to Elder (an older or more powerful Being). With these titles come different levels of respect. Example: An Elder is highly revered, while a Youngling is looked down upon or sympathized with.
The Elders Council is the main Core Being brand of government, whether it be mainlanders or originals. Those who do not use the Council are usually small bands of renegade Beings, who are led by a sole leader. The Elders Council is made up of up to six Elder-ranked Core Beings, They decide what is best for the “village” of Beings in Moonflower Grove – and in Chiduline, as the case may be – and their decision is final.
Core Beings are notoriously hard to kill, sometimes immortal since once they reach a certain level of physical maturity, they cease to physically age. They do not die of age at all; the only way to kill a Being is to use its Core Weakness against it, which could involve using renegade Beings or even wiccans and lesser Beings.
Wiccans and lesser Beings fall into one category, the category that is for extremely weak Cores, or partial-bloods. Humans can go through life holding Magyckal power and yet not discover it for their whole lifetime. It is then that they are referred to as wiccans.
Interaction with humans is strictly forbidden and unheard of. Humans tend to shy away from Beings, naturally sensing their inner Core, and the power it holds. They also are quick to hate, as Cores are stronger and more powerful than any true human could hope to be. Humans are easy prank and slave targets for Core Beings, as they are weak and easily submissive when faced with a great threat. But if provoked too far, humans can get notoriously angry – and that’s when they bring in the Renegades.
Renegade Beings are Beings that refuse to follow the code, which would be that they do not attack humans unnecessarily, and also interact with them, also practitioners of Black Magyck. They are governed by one leader, and bands can range from three or four to nearly fifty in one group. Renegades are commonly hunted among Beings, unless they agree to return to the ‘better’ way of life.
Mainland Core Beings in general tend to act aloof and rather arrogant towards mainly humans; if a Core is compassionate enough to tolerate a human’s presence, they will treat them in a manner as they would a nasty little bug: insignificant enough to not concern them, but repulsive and weak enough to inspire disgust. However amongst themselves Cores are rather friendly and hospitable, acting much like a small, prosperous community of humans would.
Chiduline Cores, however, will often kill or torture humans upon detection of one if he or she serves no better purpose. They tend to be cruel and sadistic and rather selfish and greedy, using each other freely for their own means. It seems that by the use of Black Magyck, the Chiduline Cores have not only warped their bodies but their personalities as a whole. Usually these Beings are power-hungry, and are very arrogant, liking to think of themselves as supreme to all peoples in every way.
Humans on Srinne are a different story, however. They act much like the humans we know; with a full set of emotions and a uniqueness from each other. All Cores are different in this way, since they tend to think alike and adopt similar attitudes towards different issues. This could easily be a result of the tight-knit community of the Mainland Cores, while Chiduline Cores have been mostly warped by their Black Magyck. As we all know, humans have different opinions and adopt different views. However, humans for the most part take on an attribute in that they are terminally suspicious of all Magyck users and tend to shy away from or all-out hate Core Beings.
Humans are just like those we know, they age the same, heal the same, and die the same. They are currently ruled via monarchy, considered primitive by the Cores though it is working out well for the humans since their leaders tend to be well-educated and kind and truly good.
The humans are separated into four divisions; the North, West, South, and East Kingdoms, all of which meet in the center to border on the Adalei Forests and in turn Moonflower Grove. Though countless wars and disagreements between these four provinces have been born and died since the creation of the human race thousands of years ago, recently there have been no arguments between the four respective rulers.
Partial bloods are mostly as one would think. They do have a Core Magyck, but for example, if a full-blood Being with a Core Magyck of Fire were to cast a spell, say, make a bonfire, it would take basically no effort. For a half-blood to do so, it would take double the effort, and so on. But, any smaller portion than one tenth Core would have little to no Magyck, their Core Magyck wouldn't matter. They might live an extended life, or heal a bit quickly, but other than that, they would be regular humans in essence.
A partial-blood's Core Weakness would still affect them greatly, more-so because they have human genetics.
As for genetics themselves, a half-blood would be more capable of Magyck than a quarter-blood, obviously, though half-bloods in general tend to be unpredictable since there are many of them, and the Core genes and the human genes could either clash, merge, or do something in between the two to make an interesting combination.
Plot:
In a medieval setting, (think knights and princesses) it seems that all is in peace within Moonflower Grove. The Elders are content, the humans keep to themselves, Renegade bands cease to be seen in the immediate area, the Blacks stay on the island of Chiduline, and peacetime is about.
But a new age is stirring, and as the world of Frimnul approaches its 3,000th year (in historic times; Frimnul is actually, like Earth, billions of years old though humanity has only counted for a few thousand), trouble stirs and awakens within Srinne. A new race of Core Beings has appeared, and they masquerade as humans and live among them to ‘study the species’, as they explain to the Elders Council. The Council lets this new race be; until they start to involve the Blacks, feeding them secret human information. The Blacks, believing that the humans, as an inferior race, have no right to inhabit Srinne, start to make organized and devastating attacks against them.
Now the humans are angry, and they unite all four of their kingdoms in a peace treaty to strike back – at the only known Core habitation, which is the Beings of Moonflower. But the mainland Cores have done nothing, and the Elders, peaceful as they may be, are planning to fight back on the humans. Meanwhile, the relentless attacks from the Blacks continue.
The mainland Cores are, because of their small numbers versus the humans, forced to join themselves with the Renegades – a shaky alliance, at best. The Blacks side with the new race, Core Humans, as they call themselves; a common goal makes a strong bond.
Now, just a few Core Beings, humans, half-bloods and even Renegades stand in the way of a full-out war. Can they make peace between the humans and the Cores of Moonflower Grove, and reveal the truth of the treachery of the Blacks? Or will it escalate into a war, seeming to never end?
Made it this far? Interested?
~To start, we need:
- at least one Original/Chiduline Core (aka Black - by no means has to be 'evil')
- at least one Renegade (again, does not have to be 'evil')
- preferably (not necessary) a Core Human or two (does not have to be 'evil')
- preferably (not necessary) an even gender ratio (girls, get over here! The rare too-many-boys situation has occurred so grab a female spot before we're overwhelmed!)
Rules:
- No GMing, no Mary Sues, etc. We know the drill.
- You may have up to two characters, either a type of Core Being or a human, or even a half-blood.
- I want literacy. There must be AT THE VERY LEAST 75 words to a post, or until the little red ‘x’ at the bottom of the reply box turns green. Also please try to keep correct grammar; I have a harsh reputation as a grammar Nazi and though everyone makes mistakes, if I can’t read it, it never happened.
- This kinda goes with the above rule; no chatspeak, stickycaps, and any other molestation of the keyboard, please.
- Romance is allowed and encouraged, just keep it PG-13 please.
- Cursing is also allowed, though I advise it to be kept within dialogue.
- Keep an even gender ratio, I don't want twenty girls and two guys.
- I as GM reserve the right to kick you out or reject your character if I see fit. (I'll tell the reason why and give a chance to fix it, don't worry.)
- Have fun!!
And please, please, PLEASE feel free to ask questions. I encourage asking questions because I'd much rather answer them than have anyone make a silly mistake IC. I realize that I may not have provided you with all the information you may need and am happy to correct that.

My Character(s)
Diary-chan
Name;;
Tarikina Bleu, also known as Rikki (the Renegade, as she is mocked by the less mature of the Moonflower Grove population)
Race;;
Mainland Core Being
Age;;
Appears as a late teenager or young adult; really 123 years old
Gender;;
Female
Appearance;;

Rikki's true form is a short, curvy Core standing at 5'5" with mid-back-length, dark brown hair that is kept up in a ponytail with a band of lucky four-leaf clover, and large, dark blue-gray, fathomless eyes. Her face is heart-shaped and her skintone is tan from days in the sun. Jagged scars run down her arms and legs. She has a cross-shaped brand on her arm, since the cross is a representation of the religion most humans practice, which she hides. Rikki, like most Core Beings, usually wears a robe-like garment (in the picture), light green and soft, coming to her knees with slits up the sides to allow for easy movement, yet it ceases to seem too revealing. Made of a silk-like material, it fits just right: not too loose, not too tight, vaguely reminiscent of today's traditional Chinese wrap dress with its high collar and lack of one sleeve, while the other is long, wide and loose, like a sleeve on a Japanese kimono. She goes barefoot most of the time. Of, course, she can plant an illusion in someone's mind and make her own appearance look entirely different.
Core Magyck;;
Illusion. Rikki's powers deal with illusion, whether it be from making herself appear different to creating the fake reality of floating. The important thing to remember around her is that anything you see probably isn't real.
Core Weakness;;
True Sight. The ability to see past what lies before the naked eye. True sight practitioners can read auras, minds, see through any illusion, and even sometimes practice clairvoyance.
Rank;;
Core Being
Skills or Attributes;;
Rikki is adept at climbing - especially trees, which are her favorite place to be. However, she relies completely on her Core Magyck, and so while her illusions are extremely realistic, she possesses no real physical prowess in the form of stamina or strength or speed. Otherwise, her singing voice isn't quite hard on the ears, she is also an amazing liar (a part of her Core Magyck that extends beyond simple spells) and has a good judge of character.
Personality;;
The illusion she puts up is fairly convincing, like the forms she can take or the illusions she can cast. Rikki pretends to be sardonic and sarcastic, witty and high in self-esteem to the point of arrogance. While she does act calculating, she is rarely cool like the stereotypes may say, instead prone to blow up at people for the littlest offense since her temper, like her sense of humor, is fairly unpredictable. She shows no visible compassion and is often gruff and rather mean, though her mercy is apparent in the fact of the company she keeps.
The real Rikki, however, the one you come to know only if she is too exhausted to put up a charade or trusts you enough to let you see, has little confidence, convinced that she, like her Core Magyck, is an illusion – a sham, hurt by the nasty remarks of her fellow Mainland Cores though she doesn’t show it. She believes that she is a coward, and that the mistakes she has made can never be repented. Haunted and suspicious because of her experiences in the human kingdom, she is very introverted and trusts no one except perhaps the half-human prince who visits her often, despite whose visits she still feels lonely. Rikki is also convinced, though she would never tell anyone, that she should spend the rest of her life locked away for her previous actions but even she knows that it’s just an excuse because she’s afraid of ever setting foot outside of Moonflower Grove again.
Bio;;
Rikki was born into the coven of Beings that resided in Moonflower Grove, and there she was raised to be a good little Core Being. It was just too bad that she had a curious side, and a stubborn streak too. She didn't heed the warnings that the older Beings gave, Rikki made ventures into the human world.
Well, she paid for those mistakes, paid very dearly. At age 65, about 12 in human years, Rikki was taken prisoner by a Renegade gang on one of her ventures and turned in to the humans, with a Renegade to guard the then-apprentice Core. What went on in those dungeons, no one will ever know – except perhaps those who heard the screeches as they echoed up through the palace floors.
Finally, the Renegades had a heart – when they saw Rikki again, broken and dispirited, they broke her out of the castle and took her with them. For a while, Rikki became a Renegade herself – finishing her Magyck education and proving a valuable asset to the band. But then the Core Beings of Moonflower started to hunt the Renegades, who fought to the end – all except her, who acted as a coward and surrendered, agreeing to the ‘better’ way of life, the boring way.
And for the last several decades, Rikki has resided in Moonflower Grove, longing for adventure, and yet terrified to leave the safety of the Adalei Forests. Until she met a half-blood boy, at least – the boy was a prince of the human world – the Northern Kingdom to be exact. The boy has slowly brought Rikki out of her shell. She has, since the conversion back to regularity, always felt like an outcast from her world and the prince helped her in that respect. In him, was someone she could talk to, someone who was in the same boat. Rikki feels no need to create illusions when the prince is around; she stopped that long ago when he finally gained some of her trust. Of course, Rikki has never really trusted anyone since the castle dungeons, but the prince is the closest thing she has to a friend.
And now, with only their shaky trust in each other, they may just be two of the only people who stand in the way of a war.
Other;;
Rikki likes to sing, but only does so when no one is looking. If someone managed to sneak up on her, they might hear a haunting melody that speaks no words but communicates the darkest of thoughts, the loneliest of peoples, and the memories of a past best forgotten.
In regards to the spot of the half-blood prince: the spot is filled.
