Daisy Orphanage ( )

Postby RPGLoVeR213 on Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:14 pm

Settling on the edge of snowy Denver like bird settling into its nest, New Airfield is a small town with only five thousand people and the world-renowned Daisy Orphanage. The orphanage was a palace passed down generations and finally ending in hands that would create it into a large home for kids of all ages. Once owned by a noble American family, the yellow palace with white pillars and beautifully-made windows holds more than a hundred kids. Many hopeful parents would come upon an elegant place filled with an endless amount of rooms, some with inhabitants and some without, many youthful servants scuttling around the large palace in simple black dresses or suits, and the children running past them for flailing balls or tucked into every nook and cranny reading or playing with small electronics given as Christmas gifts. Toys scattered many rooms and many a person, in awe of the beautiful place, would trip over a small toy car or a stuffed animal haphazardly put in the middle of the hallway. Even a few animals would find their way inside the house if it was approved by the caretakers. Most of the older children would cautiously watch the parents, stepping over toys semi-consciously. Each room, occupied by an older child and a younger child, had two dressers, a bunk bed, and the belongings of the two children. These children grew close, the older feeling the need to protect the younger as a sibling. They were allowed to decorate it with non-permanent things, such as a poster on the wall or a clock on the beside table. All of this was run by the main owner, Delilah James. She also runs it with her sister Sassy James, their cousin Andrew James, Delilah's friend Vincent Whiting, his brother Daniel Whiting, Sassy's friend Beatrice Dane, her wife Clarice Hallow, Clarice's sister Natasha Hallow, and Delilah's husband Garrick and his twin Ricky. All ran different parts of the estate, and all treated the children differently. Once Delilah was in control of the two acre estate, she set aside one acre of the property for plains and forest already there. Then, she hired servants and added in an in-ground pool where children often learned to swim along with a hot tub for the older children, a climbing tree with a tire swing and a rope that swung into the deep end of the pool, a large garden hidden by a small labyrinth, and a playground for the younger kids. If you lived in this palace, not matter how long your stay was or who you met, it was a home you always wanted to come back to.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are always a magnificent site. All one hundred kids sat at the large mahogany dining table settled under an enormous chandelier at least fifty feet above them. The table was lined with elegant delicacies, and chatter filled the tabled headed by the ten caretakers. After dinner, the bedtime for every young one was eight, but older children had to be in bed by ten thirty. Most of the older children went to bed at the same time as the younger one in their room, not wishing to disturb the child or even sleeping in the same bed to calm down the child if he or she happened to have a bad dream. Most of the children were abandoned or taken from their families to come here. Some came as runaways, not wanting to bear the difficulties of their life at home. There were even some who came as orphans, parents dying away from reasons only known to the child. The caretakers wanted the child to feel safe in the home, so some of the children asked for group therapy sessions or even one-on-one. Everyone has a place, whether in a constant state of fear or a comfortable spot in the home. Where will you stand?

My Characters !
Name: Jason "Jace" Alexander Campbell
Image
When Jace was younger and his parents were always around him, he developed a cuddly quality and after he learned to write would start to write on walls. Usually along the lines of small words put in no particular order, for example "Love Hate Need Regret Abuse Hurt Quality Truth Life". Most of the guests, if happening to come upon a sentence or two not yet cleaned off the wall, would often label the child as schizophrenic. Jace just liked to write words with so much meaning and figure out how he felt by the word. His parents, instead of getting him to a doctor, left him on the side of the road a few blocks away from the newly opened Daisy Orphanage. Delilah found him when she was bringing her stuff from her old house and took him to the orphanage. Her sister Sassy is often cleaning his arms, his new place to write the confusing sentences and punishing him for it even now at fifteen, but her husband Garrick is often with him and Delilah often scolds him by telling him "Jace is not their child".

Name: Narcissa Lolita "Narcy" Lovee
Image
Narcy grew up as a rich child, often getting affection from her nannies and hardly ever seeing her parents. Her mother only saw her as a dress-up doll and her father barely noticed her at all. Once she got tired of being the dress-up doll and never seeing her parents, she started to act out for affection and ended with unwanted attention from paparazzi and the law. She dated many "bad boys" and ended up with make-up hiding every bruise from her parents just in case they came to yell at her again. She ran away from her house, ending up in front of the Daisy Orphanage at thirteen with an older boy staring at her sitting on the ledge of the window in front of the front door. He gave her a smile that melted her heart completely.

Jace's chocolate brown eyes bloomed open, revealing the ceiling three feet from his face. Penelope, the little girl that occupied the bottom bunk, woke him up with her cries. He slithered down from the top bunk, moving the girl from her pink-covered bed and into his arms. He grabbed her killer-whale stuffed animal, named Rose for her late mother, and laid it in his lap since she'd wrapped her arms around his slender neck. "It's okay now, Penny. Hush, it's okay." He cooed, listening as the sobs turned into little sniffles. The nine-year-old looked up at him with red-ringed eyes, kissing him on the cheek before hugging Rose tightly. "So, what do you want to wear today, Pen?" Jace asked, going over to her dresser.

"Pink!" She exclaimed, making him laugh. He pulled out a long-sleeve pink dress, a sleeveless white jacket, and her favorite white cat with pink cat ears. He let her change in the bathroom, changing quickly into a long-sleeve crewneck and some pinstripe skinny jeans before Penelope walked out. He pulled her golden locks into two pigtails with her bangs clipped to the right and placed the hat on her head

Penelope walked over to Jace's dresser, pulling out a raccoon hat and placing it crooked on his head with a smile.

"You ready to grace everyone with your appearance?" Jace teased, squatting so the girl could climb onto his back. He carried the girl down the grand staircase, greeted by Delilah and Garrick. Jace gave both of them a meaningful hug, pulling down his sleeves to reveal that he hadn't written on himself since the last time Sassy had to punish him for it. It was a test they took every morning.

"Can you go wake up Narcy? She won't get up for anyone but you." Delilah confessed, Jace grinning as she finally accepted defeat. She didn't like not being able to wake up a child on her own, but sometimes she was too close to being authority for the child to bear.

Jace walked back upstairs, looking for the room with Narcy's name sign on the door. Once he found it, he heard her screaming and knew he had to go in and help her. He opened the door, placing his hand gently over her mouth. It was her signal that he was waking her up. He grabbed her wrists, something that
made her very uncomfortable. "Let go, Jace." The older girl snarled, trying to yank her wrists from his grasp. "I mean it, Jason Alexander." She growled, the teenage boy not budging. "You need to wake up for Delilah, not me." He told her calmly, pulling her off of the bed so she couldn't go back to sleep. "Fine, tomorrow." Narcy grumbled, stomping into her bathroom.

Jace grinned triumphantly, stepping out of the room. He joined some of the older kids already in the dining hall, making sure Penelope wasn't by herself. She'd found a partner to play with, someone with a stuffed animal partner as well. Finally, he could relax and be a kid, if only for a little while.

How stubborn are those scars when they won't fade away?
Or are they a gentle reminder that these are better days?

I've been sleeping on stones, and they've formed to my spine.

Our once straight backs now just crooked lines.

Name(s): Hillary |Hilly| Anne Hale (left) and Hannah Rose Hale (right)

The twins never met or knew their father, and only lived with their mother until they were about four..so they don't quite remember her either. The person they do remember most is their aunt, who took them from her mother who was an actress and wanted to "Give them up for their own good." they were told. And also probably for the woman's own Hannah assumed. They lived happily with their aunt until they were about thirteen, and Hannah was caught kissing another girl..in her aunt's house. The woman called the older twin the devil and promptly vowed to send her away (phoning the other girl's parents about the incident shortly after). It wasn't a day later that both girls were taken to Daisy (because she couldn't separate the twins), to hopefully get out of their aunts life, and into someone else's. And Hillary and Hannah have been here for three years since then, making them both sixteen now.

Hilly was only up after her cat, who she called Kitty-cow that she'd been allowed, had woken her up. It wasn't any different than normal though. The little boy that shared a room with her liked to let her get her beauty sleep apparently. And after he went down to get breakfast and see his other friends, it was Kitty-cow's job to get her up. He would purr, and meow, and lick, and paw as much as it took to wake his girl up. And after succeeding, he was granted one treat.

Of course he loved that part the most.

The five minute younger twin would then get down from bed and put on her favorite black and white converse and purple outfit. After going into the bathroom to finish cleaning herself up, Hilly would feed Kitty his daily rations and head out of the room, down the all only two doors to where her sister resided. The younger twin was then let in by the little girl who shared Hannah's room, "Thank you Mariah." the girl would chirp before closing the door behind her. "Where's my sister?" Hilly would ask after sitting down on the bottom bunk.

"In the bathroom..I hope she comes out soon. She's supposed to take me to breakfast!" Mariah replied, still standing by the door, one hand on the handle. "Just hold your horses little girl." Hilly teased before the bathroom door opened and Hannah emerged in her little green outfit. "Oh Hilly..you're here. As usual." the girl said in an almost surprised tone. "Yep. Because Mariah and I are hungry, and you have to take us to breakfast. As usual." Hilly teased back before standing and heading towards the door. "Well, let's get going. As usual." Hannah added before the three girls headed out.

They were in the dining room in no time, and the twins were soon by themselves..by themselves meaning Mariah had run off. Both girls then made their way over to sit down with the other people who happened to be there now. They stayed together of course, but separate conversations found them as they so often did, and Hillary found herself talking to a boy, while Hannah waited for another girl to talk to.
