Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are always a magnificent site. All one hundred kids sat at the large mahogany dining table settled under an enormous chandelier at least fifty feet above them. The table was lined with elegant delicacies, and chatter filled the tabled headed by the ten caretakers. After dinner, the bedtime for every young one was eight, but older children had to be in bed by ten thirty. Most of the older children went to bed at the same time as the younger one in their room, not wishing to disturb the child or even sleeping in the same bed to calm down the child if he or she happened to have a bad dream. Most of the children were abandoned or taken from their families to come here. Some came as runaways, not wanting to bear the difficulties of their life at home. There were even some who came as orphans, parents dying away from reasons only known to the child. The caretakers wanted the child to feel safe in the home, so some of the children asked for group therapy sessions or even one-on-one. Everyone has a place, whether in a constant state of fear or a comfortable spot in the home. Where will you stand?

My Characters !
Name: Jason "Jace" Alexander Campbell

When Jace was younger and his parents were always around him, he developed a cuddly quality and after he learned to write would start to write on walls. Usually along the lines of small words put in no particular order, for example "Love Hate Need Regret Abuse Hurt Quality Truth Life". Most of the guests, if happening to come upon a sentence or two not yet cleaned off the wall, would often label the child as schizophrenic. Jace just liked to write words with so much meaning and figure out how he felt by the word. His parents, instead of getting him to a doctor, left him on the side of the road a few blocks away from the newly opened Daisy Orphanage. Delilah found him when she was bringing her stuff from her old house and took him to the orphanage. Her sister Sassy is often cleaning his arms, his new place to write the confusing sentences and punishing him for it even now at fifteen, but her husband Garrick is often with him and Delilah often scolds him by telling him "Jace is not their child".
Name: Narcissa Lolita "Narcy" Lovee

Narcy grew up as a rich child, often getting affection from her nannies and hardly ever seeing her parents. Her mother only saw her as a dress-up doll and her father barely noticed her at all. Once she got tired of being the dress-up doll and never seeing her parents, she started to act out for affection and ended with unwanted attention from paparazzi and the law. She dated many "bad boys" and ended up with make-up hiding every bruise from her parents just in case they came to yell at her again. She ran away from her house, ending up in front of the Daisy Orphanage at thirteen with an older boy staring at her sitting on the ledge of the window in front of the front door. He gave her a smile that melted her heart completely.

Jace's chocolate brown eyes bloomed open, revealing the ceiling three feet from his face. Penelope, the little girl that occupied the bottom bunk, woke him up with her cries. He slithered down from the top bunk, moving the girl from her pink-covered bed and into his arms. He grabbed her killer-whale stuffed animal, named Rose for her late mother, and laid it in his lap since she'd wrapped her arms around his slender neck. "It's okay now, Penny. Hush, it's okay." He cooed, listening as the sobs turned into little sniffles. The nine-year-old looked up at him with red-ringed eyes, kissing him on the cheek before hugging Rose tightly. "So, what do you want to wear today, Pen?" Jace asked, going over to her dresser.
"Pink!" She exclaimed, making him laugh. He pulled out a long-sleeve pink dress, a sleeveless white jacket, and her favorite white cat with pink cat ears. He let her change in the bathroom, changing quickly into a long-sleeve crewneck and some pinstripe skinny jeans before Penelope walked out. He pulled her golden locks into two pigtails with her bangs clipped to the right and placed the hat on her head
Penelope walked over to Jace's dresser, pulling out a raccoon hat and placing it crooked on his head with a smile.
"You ready to grace everyone with your appearance?" Jace teased, squatting so the girl could climb onto his back. He carried the girl down the grand staircase, greeted by Delilah and Garrick. Jace gave both of them a meaningful hug, pulling down his sleeves to reveal that he hadn't written on himself since the last time Sassy had to punish him for it. It was a test they took every morning.
"Can you go wake up Narcy? She won't get up for anyone but you." Delilah confessed, Jace grinning as she finally accepted defeat. She didn't like not being able to wake up a child on her own, but sometimes she was too close to being authority for the child to bear.
Jace walked back upstairs, looking for the room with Narcy's name sign on the door. Once he found it, he heard her screaming and knew he had to go in and help her. He opened the door, placing his hand gently over her mouth. It was her signal that he was waking her up. He grabbed her wrists, something that
made her very uncomfortable. "Let go, Jace." The older girl snarled, trying to yank her wrists from his grasp. "I mean it, Jason Alexander." She growled, the teenage boy not budging. "You need to wake up for Delilah, not me." He told her calmly, pulling her off of the bed so she couldn't go back to sleep. "Fine, tomorrow." Narcy grumbled, stomping into her bathroom.
Jace grinned triumphantly, stepping out of the room. He joined some of the older kids already in the dining hall, making sure Penelope wasn't by herself. She'd found a partner to play with, someone with a stuffed animal partner as well. Finally, he could relax and be a kid, if only for a little while.
