Bella sighed softly, taking her place at the very back of the Common Room, leaning against the wall. She'd heard Steinburg's speech plenty enough to be able to quote him perfectly, and his words did nothing for her. Shamefully, and surprisingly, Bella had been drawn to Steinburg's appearance and voice, like so many others. However, she soon learnt that, when no one was looking, Steinburg was a perverted prick who wanted what every man wanted. Sex.
Allowing her eyes to drift closed, Bella turned up the volume of her disc-man, allowing the lyrics to envelope her and block out Steinburg's words.
There's a long black train, Comin' down the line, Feedin' off the souls that are lost and cryin', Rails of sin, only evil remains, Watch out brother for that Long Black Train
Look to the heavens, You can look to the skies, You can find redemption, Staring back into your eyes, There is protection and there's, Peace the same, burnin' your ticket for that, Long Black Train
'Cause there's vict'ry in the Lord I say, Vict'ry in the lord, Cling to the Father and His holy name, And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train
There's an engineer on that Long Black Train, Makin' you wonder if the ride is worth the pain, He's just a waiting on your heart to say, Let me ride on that Long Black Train,
But you know there's vict'ry in the Lord I say, Vict'ry in the Lord, Cling to the Father and His holy name, And dont go ridin' on that Long Black Train
Well, I can hear the whistle from a mile away, It sounds so good, But I must stay away, That train is a beauty, makin' everybody stare, But its only destination is the middle of nowhere,
But you know theres vict'ry in the Lord I say, Vict'ry in the Lord, Cling to the Father and His holy name, And don't go ridin' on that Long Black Train
I said cling to the Father and His holy name, And dont go ridin' on that long black train, Yeah, watch out brother for that long black train, The Devil's a drivin' that long black train.
Bella timed things perfectly. Her eyes opened as Josh Turners voice finished melting her heart with that final note, and Steinburg began packing up his notes. Chairs were shifted, screeching on the floor, and new arrivals began moving to the list to see where their rooms were.
Pushing away from the wall, the lone shape shifter made her way to the list, pushing past the group as if they didn't exist. Breathing a sigh of relief to discover that she wouldn't have to move rooms, Bella rolled her shoulders and turned away, making her way to the staircase. In the process, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a cigarette and lighter. Flicking it open, Bella was about to bring the flame up to light the cigarette a voice cut through her music, leaving her to pause for a moment.
One of the doctors glared at her, his mouth moving as he spoke, and Bella paused her music in time to hear him finish his sentence.
"....many times do we have to tell you not to smoke indoors. No wonder your mother abandoned you with your Aunt, you're much too rebellious for your own good."
Bella narrowed her eyes at Dr Hankley, contemplating for a few seconds before bringing the light to cigarette and lightning the cancer stick. Dr.Hankley began to approach her, and as he did Bella took a long drag, waiting till Hankley was standing in front of her, reaching for the smoke. Tapping the stick gently, Bella allowed the ash to drop from the end and fall onto Hankley's shining shoes. If there was anything Hankley hated more then being disobeyed - it was being disobeyed with cheek
Bella smirked, her eyes cold as she blew a mock kiss at Hankley, and for a moment her face rippled and contorted before taking on the appearance of a heavily hooded-eyed woman, with dark brown [almost black] hair and a pockmarked face. It was the face of Hankley's ex - Bella had seen the photo in his office.
Hankley almost growled, and was about to grab when Bella turned and sprinted up the stairs, propelling herself into the music room. Slamming the door shut, she leaned against it heavily, cursing softly.
"Why the fuck don't they have locks on these damn rooms?!"
