We are the Rulers of the Night.
We, alone, stand between mankind and those who would see mankind destroyed. We are the Guardians.
The Soulless Keepers.
Our souls were cast out so that we would not forewarn the Daimons we pursue. By the time they see us coming, it's too late.
The Daimons and Apollites know us. They fear us. We are death to all those who prey upon the humans.
Neither Human, nor Apollite, we exist beyond the realm of the Living, beyond the realm of the Dead.
We are the Dark-Hunters.
And we are eternal.
Yeah, yeah. Enough of the doom and gloom because, baby, that ain't us. You want to know what a Dark-Hunter is? We are what the intro says. We're Mad, Bad and Immortal. We're ancient warriors with attitudes who fight rough, and play hard.
We are the scary things that go bump in the night. And we love every minute of it. So when you think you're being watched. You just might be. The question is...is it something evil or is it one of us?
In the world of the Dark-Hunters nothing is ever as it seems. Life and death both take on a whole knew meaning as this immortal cadre of warriors fight to protect mankind from those creatures and demons who would prey on us.
1.Dark-Hunter: An ancient warrior who sold his/her soul to the Greek goddess Artemis for a single act of vengeance. Now they protect mankind from the Daimons who want to claim our souls.
2.Apollite: A member of a race cursed by the god Apollo. They cannot be out in daylight and they must live on the blood of each other. At age 27, they die a slow and painful death unless they decide to turn Daimon and prey on human souls.
3.Daimon: An Apollite who refuses to docilely die over a curse s/he had no part in creating. They feed on human souls and fight the Dark-Hunters.
4.Were-Hunter: Originally part of the Apollite race, their DNA was magically spliced with animals. Now they are shape-shifters who are embroiled in a war against each other.
5.Dream-Hunter: They are the gods of sleep who were cursed by the Greek gods to feel no emotion whatsoever. But they carry within them a dark secret that could completely shake the world in which they live. The Oneroi branch are often helpers to the Dark-Hunters.
6.Charonte: A race of demons who are extremely violent and amoral. They have a very interesting code of ethics.
7.Squire: A human who is employed by a Dark-Hunter or a human who has skills that make a Dark-Hunter's life a bit easier. They have an entire organization set up and are willing to die or kill to protect the secret of the DH world.
8.Oracle: One who speaks with the gods. They tend to be really crusty/cranky people.
9.Chthonian: A race of... well that would be the question. There are only a handful of them left and they are a CRANKY bunch.
10.Savitar: Yeah... in a class by himself

Dark-Hunter
When a person is killed their soul cries out. if it cries out loud enough for vengence the goddes Artemis will come to them. If they decide to join her army of dark hunters they are allowed 24 hours to enact revenge on whoever did them wrong (i.e. whoever killed them or helped) after that they are sent to train with Ash (acheron). When ash feels they have learned well and they have been taught to use their powers and kill daimons then the new dark hunter is assigned to a city. from there on in they must protect over that city. But Artemis (the spiteful bitch that she is) was afraid that the D-H army would rise against and rebel. So except for Ash no dark hunter can be around another dark hunter without their powers draining. (so dont stay together to long, if your powers drain you will be weak and can easily be killed by a daimon, even though the only way for you to be killed is decapitation, it happens to the best of us unfortunately.) Also you have no soul. artemis holds it. and the only way to get it back....... well we wont go there, way to risky. moving on. oh yeah another way to die is being in the sunlight. yeah i know its so cliche but since artemis is the goddess of the moon and daimons can only be outside at night there isnt any point for you to be outside. so you die if you go into sunlight. hehehe. sorry. (idk what else to put, you are immortal kick ass better than buffy Dark-hunters. you goal is to defeat the daimons that feed on human souls. oh and no killing appolites, that will have ash on your tail, literally if your Ravyn hehehehe.) Also one thing i forgot to mention, when artemis touches you to become a dark hunter you get a tatoo. but it is wherever she touches you so dont let her slap you or you will have some really awkward tatoo on your face hehehehe the tatoo is a double bow and arrow mark
more into the were hunters because they are frikken awesome lol.
there are different types ya know and the breeds dont always get along
Arcadians
Humans that can turn into animals
We are born as humans and during the daylight hours, we walk in human forms. Because we hold human hearts, we are capable of higher reasoning and have a greater control over our animal half.
Still, the animal inside us is ever present and like a snarling beast, it makes demands on the human half. Sometimes it tries to seduce the human part, to make it yield to the animal impulses. When this happens, the two halves are at war inside us and take a tremendous toll on our strength and our control. The human half doesn't always win.
We are seductive, graceful, beguiling. A true predator, we stand out in the crowds of normal, average humans who aren't sure of what we are. They merely know we are different somehow. We look like them. We speak like them. But deep down, humans can feel us as a breed apart.
Out of the Arcadian patrias are born the Sentinels--the Guardians of man and were-kind. Only a select few are born to each patria. They are the strongest of us and they help to protect our people from those who would prey upon or betray us. It is they who pursue and execute the Slayers.
Katagaria
Animals that can turn into humans
We are born as animals and in the daylight hours we stalk as animals. Because we hold animal hearts, we are subject to our darker sides. We live for the primal. For the wild fulfillment of our desires.
Our animal half rules the human. Squelches it. We take our pleasures when and where we find them and aren't bothered by things such as conscience and morals.
However, we are fiercely loyal to ourselves, our kind. Throughout the centuries, we have been hunted by the Arcadian Sentinels and others who have no tolerance or understanding of our laws.
Our soldiers and protectors are called the Slayers. Woe to any who cross their paths for we tolerate no spies, no betrayal. Disloyalty is punished by the strictest of means.
Daimon's And appollite (history and more)
Too many of our children are orphaned and forced to live in small groups or sometimes even alone among the humans. But take heart. There are entire cities and communes of us thriving in this world, living out our short lives even though we have multiple enemies.
You don't have to be alone.
For those of you whose parents died before they could pass on our legacy, here is the history of our race:
We began before time, the children of the god Apollo. For centuries he protected and nurtured us until we were cast out by his wretched father Zeus who was jealous of the fact that we were superior in every way to the race of man Zeus had created.
Our divine father Apollo led is to the isle of Atlantis where we were welcomed warmly by the native inhabitants. We lived there in harmony with them for centuries, mixing our blood with theirs until we truly became a chosen race. Our powers were unmatched by any who have come before or since. We lived in peace with our Atlantean brothers.
But the evil race of man could not leave us alone. Jealous of our tranquil posterity, they started warring against us. Year after year, century after century, they hounded our ancestors. We could have destroyed them, but Apollo told us to leave them alone. He claimed they were not worth the trouble and so we listened.
In 9527 BC, we found out why he didn't want us to fight back. Our father had betrayed us. He forgot us, his children, in favor of the humans. All who bear our blood were brutally cursed by him to have a lifespan of only 27 years. On our 27th birthday, we slowly, painfully decay into dust during a twenty-four hour period.
While we live our lives, we are damned to walk only in darkness, forever banned from the sunlight he controls, and are forced to live only on the blood of our kindred. We have the fangs and vision of animals and the power of gods.
Many of us Apollites prefer to kill ourselves the day before our 27th birthday to escape the grueling horror of our prescribed deaths. Some such as the Cult of Pollux choose to suffer through that day as Apollo intended--they believe so is the will of Apollo, so we should abide. Others possess the temerity to defy Apollo's curse. Instead of becoming victims, they leave behind their Apollite world and turn toward the humans for salvation.
They kill the worthless human animals and take their souls into their own bodies thereby becoming Daimons. So long as the human soul lives inside them, so does the Daimon body. Unfortunately, humans are weak and their souls die, so our Daimons are forced to replenish them every few weeks. Not that it matters. Like all filthy vermin, the humans procreate wildly and we have an endless source of food....
If you're brave enough
Well lets see here. if you read above you should know that since apollo hates you you cant step foot into daylight, this goes to appolites as well. anyways the only way to live after 27 is to feed off human souls. thus turning daimon. it means your evil, and yes daimons are haertless and cruel. (bastards). anyways (if you have any more questions ask, idk what else to say about them)
We have many legends amongst our people.
As mentioned earlier, the greatest is the belief in the Day-Slayer who will one day come and liberate us.
Another great legend of our people, is the Daimon Stryker. His age is unknown, but he is said to be one who preys on Dark-Hunters. He is believed to command a Daimon army.
His son Urian is his second in command. Urian is a legend even among our legends. Many of us have seen him. He is fearless. He has killed untold numbers of Dark-Hunters and it is believed even the gods themselves quake in Urian's presence.
Draco pictured to the right is another. Some believe he is the oldest Daimon alive. He doesn't travel with our people, but is said to command his own Katagaria pack. He is cold and cunning. A true predator, he alone doesn't shirk at fighting the great evil that is Acheron Parthenopaeus. Some stories say he's not really one of us at all, but is in fact the missing heir of Atlantis, Apostolos. No one knows for sure, but he, like Acheron, travels with a demon that he commands.
Desiderius--A true hero, he has stalked and killed Dark-Hunters for at least 200 years. One of his more admirable qualities is he doesn't just execute the Dark-Hunters, he tortures them. (but he died )
Acheron--The leader of the Dark-Hunters, Acheron is automatic death to all of us. Remember, Dark-Hunters have no souls. They are killing machines incapable of feeling mercy or compassion. None of them are most callous than Acheron. It is said he can control our thoughts and make us kill each other. Should you see him, run. Only the above mentioned Daimons have ever fought him and lived.
Callabrax--A Dorean warrior, Callabrax has hunted our people for more than 9000 years. He is evil. Relentless and heartless, he doesn't shirk at killing anyone, even women and children to get to the ones he pursues.
There is only one rule:
Dont die!
However we have put together a few reminders for you
Don't fall onto pointy objects.
Don't drink the blood of the dead.
Sunblock doesn't work, nor do umbrellas or anything else. If sunlight touches you, you violate the only real rule.
All humans are evil.
Dark-Hunters are vermin in need of extermination.
Don't dance in public. We have no sense of rhythm and you will immediately out yourself. Looking good doesn't mean you look good on the dance floor.
Squires are extra yummy when eaten.
Avoid taking the life of an Arcadian or Katagari unless they are offered to you as a sacrifice. They tend to have very large families that will hunt you down and kill you. On that note, remember, they can travel in daylight.
In fact, avoid angering anything that walks in daylight. They tend to break into our crypts and expose us to light. So don't play with your food. Kill them, eat them and move on.
Dark-Hunters can't go into cemeteries or any haunted places. For a great show, drag them inside and watch what happens.
Dark-Hunter blood is poisonous to us.
Don't try to kill a Dark-Hunter to steal his soul. They don't have one. It's a waste of your time and it just pisses off the Dark-Hunter.
You can only kill a Dark-Hunter by exposing him to daylight or by decapitation. Anything else just pisses them off.
If you see someone with a bow and arrow tattoo, walk on by. DO NOT ENGAGE. Not unless you're a true Spathi and in that case Bon Apetite
Hang with the Goth crowd, we tend to blend and they think our fangs are kewl. Not to mention Goth chicks will gladly ask you to bite them. Goth clubs = supermarket/fast food.
Avoid polyester and plaid. No real reason other than you just look stupid in it. No one should be caught dead in either one and since we're dead...
Avoid the Dark-Hunter called Acheron. There is no such thing as escaping or defeating him. He is referred to as the Angel of Death and the Grim Reaper.
Avoid biker bars. 1. they tend to have Dark-Hunters in them. 2. we don't blend in there.
Once you go Daimon, do not share this knowledge with any non-Daimon. If anyone should ask, you're still Apollite. Who's going to know? And if they do, kill them.
Never take an Apollite soul. It's just bad form and we will hunt you down for it.
If a bolt-hole opens, go into it.
...
So-called bolt-holes these are doorways that open when Daimons are in trouble. We have no control over them. And they appear only when a Daimon is worthy of one.
There are many beliefs as to who controls them and where they lead, but that knowledge is kept strictly secret by those who are lucky enough to know. We hope to one day be privy to such information. In the meantime, the rest of us aren't left out.
There are many sanctuaries in the human world for us. In a pinch, you can always run to a club or home of the Arcadian and Katagaria packs. So long as you keep your fangs in your mouth, they will tolerate you in their havens.
These are the cities that house large Apollite communes where Daimons are welcome:
Las Vegas
New Orleans
New York
Miami
San Francisco
Paris
Rome
Athens
London
Helsinki
Rio
Buenos Aires
Port of Spain
Los Angeles
Honk Kong
Tokyo
Montreal
DC not kewl. Too many blood-sucking lawyers, IRS, and politicians. They have no souls to prey on and the poor pitiful people who do are quickly bled dry by them. You'll starve if you try to live there.
Squires.
ok pretty quick. so squires human helpers of dark hunters. some of you are assigned to a dark hunter and some of you free lance. there are special groups of you like the blood rites who are excellent fighters but some of you are regular. its simple really. you help protect them when they sleep in the day and get whatever they need. its sometimes is a pain in the ass.
Best described as "taking care of business" this is an elite group that belongs in the deep background of the DH world. No one is sure who the members are or when, where or how The Council started. However, all the Squires fall beneath its shadowy control.
The Dark-Hunters themselves are beyond their reach (or so it's believed).
Who are they? We'd all like to know. The only advice I can give you as one Squire to another--when their email shows up in your inbox or you hear that distorted voice on the phone, pay as close attention to it as you would Artemis.
Never cross the Council.
But what is a Squire?
Squires are either the children of other Squires or they are recruited by Squires and Dark-Hunters.
Squires have an elaborate set-up that can quickly get anything a Dark-Hunter or other Squire needs. They have lawyers, doctors, bankers, pilots, etc., as well as establishments such as hospitals, restaurants, libraries that appear to serve humans as a front, but in reality were established solely to serve the Dark-Hunters and their helpers.
The Squire Council is a select group of Squires who oversee the activities of the other Squires. They make payroll and give out money to any Squire who wishes to set up a business front for the Dark-Hunters.
Main branches/designation of Squires:
Blood-Rites: Squires who are called out to perform blood hunts to terminate any Squire who breaches his/her oath and endangers the Dark-Hunters or their world. They are also called in to execute a "rogue" Dark-Hunter who has turned against humans. Blood-Rites Squires are marked by a spider web-like tattoo on the hand.
Blue-Bloods: Squires who are descended from other Squires.
Dorean/Free Agents: Squires who don't serve a specific DH, but who provide a service that helps all of them. Doctors, pilots, police officers, judges, etc. fall into this category.
Echo/Barnacles: They are assigned to a specific DH and they maintain the DH's home. They often fetch for them as well. They are aids and personal assistants. They live with the Dark-Hunter and help to create an illusion that there's nothing unusual going on with the occupants of a house.
Initiates/Chips: Squires who are recruited.
Oracles: Squires who confer with the gods, especially the Fates to gather information that is helpful to the Dark-Hunters. The most prominent Oracles are the Lekti who keep the Book of Prophecy where all important events in human history are predicted. It is said even the End of the World is chronicled within its pages. They fall outside the control of the Squire Council and are led by the Delphinian (Oracle of Delphi).
Tech: Squires who are involved in research and technological fields. They are the ones who conceive and create special toys and who enable Dark-Hunters to communicate with each other.
Theto/Theti: They function like a police force within the realm of the Squires. They are also the ones sent out to deal with any civilian who finds out about the Dark-Hunters. Unlike the Blood-Rite Squires, they cannot kill anyone. They are sent in first to clean up the situation. If they are ineffective, then the Blood-Rites are called in.
TO remind you that when you make your character they can be however old you want them, but when you make them from an ancient civ.(Ancient greek, roman, norse, celt.......) plz do a tad bit of background researh on that civ. so you dont look stupid. and rememeber all dark hunters were murdered, in a bad way and they wanted revenge that is why they are dark hunters. and be crative like add some umph to this. plus you dont have to interact with other characters all the time, this can easily have individual hunts as well. if you have any questions feel free to ask plz. and remember if you are a daimon most of you arent hundreds of years old. its actually highly uncommon for thta. most of you are one like 40 at most. cause dark hunters kill the newbies hehehe. oh and to all dark hunters. wherever artemis touches you to take your soul as part of the contract you get a tattoo. it is the double bow and arrow as seen at top of page with dark hunters logo
