I have realized that I have been role-playing since I was a small girl, when I would play with Barbies and stuffed animals with my sisters. We got really into it--our dolls had real issues (poverty, war, drug abuse, crime, infectious disease, stereotyping and racism, etc.), and each were like characters, and we had our favorites and kept them 'alive' for years. I have only recently discovered online roleplaying, but it has occurred to be that it is not all that different--only digitally mediated with people that I have never met, and text-based. It's wondrous--these people are my type of people--the kids who write stories for fun!
