Death Amongst all Creatures-IC ( )

((Check out the OOC if you want to join. If you can't find it PM me.))

The shadow almost flew across the land, searching for a good kill. Most of the population had been wiped out by him, and he still smelled of blood and rotting bodies. As he glided over the forest floor, he let his toes drag the ground, killing the small animals he came into contact with. Extending his arms, he let his fingertips touch the trunks of trees, and laughed as they withered away and the branches, not able to hold much weight, cracked under the pressure of bird nests. Stopping, he let himself stand in the forest flatfooted on a hill. Staring out into the distance, his cold, red eyes could be seen clearly in the darkness of the forest. He tilted his head as he watched the chaos below him. The bodies rotted, the living screamed, the buildings burned, and he did it. All across the land, utter destruction has occured, and it was all thanks to him. His long black hair brushed against his chin, and he smiled at the scent of the innocent blood being spilled. His long, bony, white fingers, lay at his side, and his fingernails dripped with blood, sweat, and tears. This was the most vile creature imaginable, and he had been unleashed upon the world. Powerful, strong, agile, and lethal. Yet all it would take, would be one group of unlikely persons. That's all it would take, and not even he was aware of this.

----------

Solstice advanced through the forest. He had made it to the edge, and was glad to see civilation of some sort. Along the way, he had picked up a large stick that he used as a walking stick, but dropped it here. It would be of no use to him any more. The sticks and leaves crunched under the weight of his boots, and pushed branches away from him as he made his way forward. Stepping past the last tree of the forest, he stood on a hill. He felt a cold chill run down his back, and could see his breath. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw something. Amongst all the natural beauty of the forest, there were two, ice cold, blood red eyes, and they were watching him. Scared to the point that he couldn't move, Solstice just watched the creature, whatever it was, in the trees. A loud, high-pitched screech, and hiss, and the eyes grew. Solstice soon found out that they weren't growing, but they were getting closer. Covering his face, Solstice awaited for an impact.

Solstice awoke in a sweat in the room he had rented for the night at a local inn. Swinging his legs over the bed, he rested his head in his palms, placing his elbows on his knees. He was shaking, and he was scared. He had been having dreams like this a lot lately. Very vivd dreams in fact. Opening his eyes, Solstice watched a drop of sweat fall from a strand of his hair, and sighed. Getting to his feet, he left a tip of one silver coin on the bedside table, picked up his belongings, and walked out the door.

Stepping out of the inn, it was very different than his dream. Instead of a bright sun, and the world full of life and joy, the sun was hidden, and the world wasn't quite alive. The cold air was still there, and it hurt his chest to breath. Pulling his cloak tight around his chest, he stepped forward, this time the leaves and sticks were frozen as they cracked under his boots, and he could feel the cold no matter how hard he tried to bunlde up and keep warm. If only had stayed at his village.

((Sorry for the length. They won't all be this long.))

Draco sat in his small Carriage, staring out, the Horse moving quickly in the middle of the small dirt covered road, and dust blew gently behind him. He stared at the Driver, with a grin. "Stop here, I won't need to be driven any longer, I can walk form here..." Smiling, it stopped, and the door was opened for him, he walked out, keeping his hat on, he looked around, some giving him an unusual look. Being known was always something he saw, though for what he truly was, that was something bigger. Scowling he walked down the street in a very silent manner, no one else dared to give him a look of satisfaction, and finally he looked over at someone, a man, walking from a small in, he couldn't help but grin.

Solstice looked up as the carriage stopped and the vampire stepped out. The vampire was well known, but Solstice didn't quite remember his name. Pulling his cloak even closer, Solstice kept walking. Looking down, he ignored the vampire as he walked past. It might have been his imagination, but he could've sworn he felt the tempature drop as he walked by. Giving him a slight nod, Solstice greeted him.

"Good morning sir."

He grinned. "Solstice, a strong name...." He smiled. "Goodmorning to you too..." He said softly, but assuringly.

OOC: It winter time? And if I need to edit tell me:) And if by some odd reason I'm not accepted, lol, tell me.]

The hunt was today. I could be no more excited.
My village had released the captive beasts out, and now they stormed into my territory. Four legged creatures with black hides and a dark nature. My village was brave, not having killed the beasts but instead capturing them for my yearly hunt. When I got to test my strength.

A sparrow flew down to my open hand, a note tied to it's little foot.
Opening it, I read:

Good Morning Akasha of the Earth!
We the peoples of Maylin Village have sent you the greating of 4 beasts. Each is strong and powerful, be ready.
And another problem has risen. Guardian, our beast count was 12. 8 have fled to the village on the other end of the forest. We ask that you track them after the first 4 have been slighted. Thank you Akasha.
Praise be the Earth.

I sat along the chilly branch, my legs dwindling over the limb, as I stretched a bit.
I was in a thick fur coat, made of last-year's beasts.

The sparrow had resettled along the hybernating branches as I pulled the fur coat off and settled into my Guardian attire. Long white pants, fitting perfect and allowing flexibility. The green front leading up, tieing over the back which I had on a black corset underneath. Then the sleeves, unattached but tied atop my biceps. I pulled my black hair into a high ponytail, sticking a piece of cedar -with the tale of my life burned into it- into the ponytail.
I reached onto the branch above me and grabbed the ring, sliding it onto my left middle finger. A beautiful white band with an emerald in the shape of a leaf surrounded by onyx stones.

I leapt down from the high tree, landing agile on my feet. As soon as my feet hit, crunching on the icy bottom, I could hear the rumble of the beasts. All 4. They were much like wolves, only evolved. And they traveled in packs.
I felt at the whip on my side, reassuring myself that it was indeed there. Then, I fondled the long dagger at my other side.
Knowing they were both there, I grabbed the whip. It was long and slender, and at it's end ly a small but long leaf-shaped blade.

I saw one, dark against the cool background.
I cracked the whip down, letting it unravel in it's presence. It stepped forward, and I launched the whip out, in instants letting the end slash over it's back, leaving it in a whimper.
Another leapt, and my whip was faster. I came forward, close range, and let the whip wrap around it's chest several times. The beast still in the air coming down, I stepped aside, and swung it hard into the barren earth.
Another. I repeated the same thing, only my whip took to it's hind legs, slamming it into a tree.
The last fled.

I picked my feet up and was instantly in a graceful sprint, jumping and bounding over the large tree roots that rose from the ground. The beast was in my far sight, too far to be struck. So I looked to another plan. I reached at my other side while running. Grabbing the dagger, long and slender, also like a leaf, I jumped onto a nearby branch that set close to the ground. From there I leapt higher into the trees, before coming down, closer to the beast. I held the dagger behind me, landing close as the beast ran on. But I was still, throwing the dagger. It hit perfectly where the spine ended within it's head. Instant death perhaps.
I walked past it, taking my blade and placing it in it's place, along with the whip. The hunt was partially over.

But now I had to be off to the village on the other side of the forest. To find the escape beasts.

I walked on, at peace again with all around me. My hair twisted in it's length behind me as the chilled winds carried. I took in everything, and noticed how odd the forest was. Not just slumbering in the cold, but dying. This sacred forest could only be killed by the darkness of a thousand empty souls. Was there something amuck now? Was there something coming?
My pace had quickened, long elegant strides carrying me to the edge of the forest, and beyond.

Perhaps an hour had passed, and I had seen none of these beasts around. I could see the village in the distance.

My sparrow landed back in my open hand, a new note on it's leg. I opened the new note, and looked carefully.
The handwriting was not that of the Maylin Council. It was ragged:

The beasts are dead.

I tossed the foolishly written piece of paper aside and went on to the village. Who knew about my carrier sparrow but the village? They were the only ones who even knew of my existance. Those and the elves who heard the tales of me and the ones before me. The elves and I had worked together once to protect another forest in Elven Territory. We had made great peace there. I was happy to have helped.
But no elf wrote this? The elves I knew all had elegant handwriting, and were sophisticates of the arts of many.

I let it fade from my mind, as I walked into town, looking strange to the eyes that had never laid on me til now. But it did not bother me. I had to find the beasts which I refused to believe didn't exist.

((I'm thinking maybe end of winter? Haven't decided yet.))

Solstice stopped dead in his tracks. How? When? Why? Turning, he looked at the man. They were almost an equal height, the man standing a mere two inches taller than Solstice. Despite it was only two inches, he seemed to tower over Solstice. Still feeling sweat from his dream, Solstice wiped his brow. If he wanted to, the man could easily strike down Solstice with one blow, but Solstice didn't let this intimidate him.

"Sorry sir, but how do you know my name?"

He smiled. "See all, Know all?" He snickered. "I know a lot actually.." He moved closer, and words rang in Solstice mind. "I can read your mind..!" He smiled turning. "Well, nice seeing you, I'll see you again though...." Smiling he began walking down the street.

I had come some way into the village, and saw someone. A vampire. On instant I recognized his breed. I'd had a few pass through the forest either in escape or in search. They seemed a vicious breed to me, from what I had seen of them. But this man was fairly dressed, and handsome. He was a vampire in his eyes.
My long graceful strides had slowed sometime ago to a peaceful pace, enjoying the society and sight of people. Though I was oddly dressed, a Guardian of the Forest, I didn't mind the awkward stares. Everyone had natural-born curiosity. The light the sky gave off gave my hair the tiny green tint that lay deep in it. My earthen brown eyes had pupils shaped like the a sun. I was human enough though. Just endowed the gift of being a legend to many. Just like a vampire was a legend to many. I was a less frequently told story.

I let my eyes lull on him and I kept on, passing the vampire.
Interesting character he is.- I thought.

He stopped, smiling he turned. "You should learn to keep your mind to yourself around a Vampire, if not, everything goes wrong..." He grinned. He turned back for a moment. "And by the way your dressed, in this town, well some may find a little odd, but I guess I know too much of odd.." He shook his head, talking to a stranger. "Well if it counts, you look beautiful in what your wearing, wherever your from, I say bring the tide with you, be who you are and no more..." He did a small bow.

I heard him, and walked on forward, a smile creeping upon my lips.

"Well I am glad to hear your opinion. You are surely the most interesting Vampire I've met." I said slowing my walk. I stopped for a moment, letting him catch the new drift of my thoughts.

And by the way, just because you have a sword and fangs, doesn't make you more dangerous than I Vampire.- My words were playfully taunting. I loved people who challenged me. I enjoyed a good besting of skills, with someone of fair strength and strategy. It was a good time off from sitting amongst tree branches and keeping life astilled in the forest. As long as we both knew where to stop, I would be highly entertained. But the center of a village was far from the place for a playful duel with a Vampire.

My name is Akasha, pleasure meeting you.- I thought, letting my long legs stretch out again in the graceful walk I had, carrying me onward down the streets.

Solstice didn't break eye contact with the vampire until he turned to leave. His voice echoed in his head, but Solstice didn't remember him speaking them. "I can read your mind! Shaking his head, Solstice kept walking. Already this day was becoming strange. He was awaken by a dream where he encountered something evil, and now he was meeting vampires. Pulling his cloak closer a third time, he kept moving. Making his way into the forest, Solstice hopped onto a tree branch, climbing up the tree to watch the sun rise. Letting his legs kick back and forth, the branch started cracking, and snapped before Solstice had time to react. Falling down, he almost enjoyed the feeling of the wind brush past his face. Within an instant, he grabbed onto a branch, and dangled about ten feet above the ground. Letting go, he landed almost silently on another branch, and leapt to the ground. Brushing his hands off, he shook his head.

"I sure do hope that dream wasn't an omen of some sort."

Making his way back to the forest, he saw a gorgeous woman being spoken to by the vampire. Ignoring them, he made his way behind a few buildings, and headed for a bar to get some breakfast. Sitting down, he ordered some bread, cheese, and ale. There was a dwarf and a human arguing, another elf sitting down the bar from him, and a second dwarf in the dark corner in the back of the bar. Just another day.

He smiled. "Nice to meet you too.." He said through his mind. "I'm going to have to see her again..." He thought to himself, grinning. He grinned at his sword. "Well you know, if your so good as you think you are, I think I would like to test you myself." Smirking he pulled up his blade and quickly dodged her back and skidded in front of her, sword at her neck.

"Hahaha." I smiled. I was at a tranquil stroll until the Vampire took me up on my self-thought offer.

"Vampire, did you not hear me? This is no place. Do not make me use force to move you." I smiled. I was always kind, smiling if I could. But he would be one that would not want to arouse my serious side. The relentless fighter. And not in town. People watching. I didn't mind their eyes, but I hated the pety gossip that easily started with people in their public places.
I slid my hand over the dagger at my side, and let the grin widen. My eyes drifted from the vampire to the ground, when I spun quickly, using my blade to knock away his, and spinning again to be with my back against his. I had not the superhuman speed, but I was far faster than most. My reactions planned and timed, like instincts burned into my mind.
I tilted my head with the happiness coming from the challenge he could be.

"What is your name Vampire?" I asked, my back still against his.

He smirked. "Well I had no intention of fighting right here, my reputation is much higher than that, I'm not the one to kill someone. Especially as helpless, and beautiful as you.." He said, kissing her hand gently, only once, in a friendly way, not meaning anything but respect by it. "My name is Draco Zethoran, but most just call be Drake..." He smiled softly. Walking over, he lifted up his blade, removing the dirt on it. "This is a good blade, I wouldn't be trying that again Ma'lady..." He smiled again, it being just a small gesture, between a joke. "What brings you here anyway, Elven folk, don't you stick to the trees?" He smiled. "I should know, I've been through a few of your villages, and tree domes and such, beautiful places...quiet and peaceful.."

It wasn't often that Aelita strayed into the village. She didn't like other people, usually, they made her feel claustrophobic for some strange reason. And in fact, she had no idea why she had come here, apart from the fact that she felt like a drink. Her human blood craved after something alcoholic, and for once the vampire in her didn't resist.

And so Aelita found herself in a bar, fidgeting nervously with the ends of her sleeves and looking around at others sitting there. Ack... people...
Aelita quickly ordered a small glass of wine, nothing else, and found an empty table in which she could sit down. Through her hair, Aelita surveyed her surroundings once more.

"I am no elf Draco." I spat in amusement.
"I work alongside them. I am Akasha of the Earth, I help elves, protect the beautiful lands we live on, but no elf here." I shook my head with a little laugh. "And don't let the beauty of I heighten your ego. I am far more powerful than meets the eye." I nodded with that, folding my arms. He was truly more interesting a vampire. But me, an elf? I was more of... a gifted human. A sacrificed human, given fair power to do her job. And though my figure was lean and curved to most a gentleman's liking, I was still a warrior at heart. A guardian, and a merciless one at that.

I stepped closer to him.
"I'm no ordinary human, remember that Draco." I took another elegant stride, and stood before him, looking up the good few inches that separated us. "You should not underestimate me." I gave a smile and turned my head. A flash of black. The beast!

"I must be gone, twas a pleasure, Draco." I courtsied, and turned, leaning into another quick-paced stride. Sliding my dagger back, I grabbed my long whip. I cracked it against the earth, and looked at the beast as it slowed to a stop and faced me.

I crept closer, cracking the whip back before twisting my wrist, settling my feet, and lashing it forward, wrapping and cutting around the wolf-beast's ankle. I ripped the whip back again, yanking the wolf forward with amazing speed. It crashed at my feet, and before it could fully whimper, I had my dagger drawn and in it's chest.

I dried my dagger on it's fur and put my weapons in their places. I turned back to the vampire and winked, before turning to leave, to find something or somewhere to get some nourishment.
