Disney Villains: Who's the King of the Castle?

The best Disney Villain was the Iceland Hockey team from the mighty ducks two. They were rude and pretty much summed up the whole idea of a villain with each of their personalities. Plus, it was a live action movie, meaning they would really work in modern times.

I'd have to say the worst villain is probably...Captain hook! (Though Peter Pan is definitely my favorite Disney character and movie) He was created more for pure entertainment, really.

And the best...well, my favorite is Maleficent. She doesn't really do much that's evil, it's just...she can change into a dragon. And I have to give her credit for a good imagination - who would randomly think to wait until a girl is fifteen (or sixteen, I forget) and then kill her with a spinning needle thing?

I don't blame her, though. If I was the only uninvited fairy out of a mere thirteen, I would get pretty annoyed, too.

Probably Jafar.

Setting aside that Hades is my favorite villain... I think the most evil/sinister would probably be Frollo from Notre Dame. Reason being the fact he was very willing to lock a family inside of their straw roofed house and burn them alive for not knowing enough information. He then creeps on some girl and makes her either choose death or losing her virginity (which, since she is clearly religious would have probably damned her, considering it was before marriage). Oh and he tried drown a baby.

I think what makes Frollo so sinister is the fact there is literally nothing comedic about him. He does this all with stone cold malice.

Yikes! What more can be said? Well, I have to say that there is a definite battle between Scar and Jafar. Especially Jafar from the second movie as he had ULTIMATE COSMIC POWER... despite the itty, bitty living space. Ha!

Maleficent also has to be a favorite but I think I am biased on that as I am obsessed with dragons. John Smith from Pocahontas was pretty scary too (if you look at him correctly, I have to say).

To fit in to modern times, though I would have to say that there is a deinite toss-up between Cruella DeVille and Claude Frollo. I think any villain who hides behind religion is pretty despicable.

Still, my favorite in terms of absolutely evil and cool is still Jafar! Something about the mad sorcerer seeking power just sends chills down my spine. Scar would definitely be my next pic, though.

I recently watched Lion King again after having not seen it in years, and I was surprised by just how evil Scar actually was. He killed his own brother by using Simba and then told Simba, his own nephew, that it was totally his fault, and trying to have him killed several times. He is just sooooo evil!

Ursula from the Little Mermaid for sure. When she grew to the size of a huge whale (no sea pun intended) while she had King Triton's Triton, that scared me as a kid. However, she is still my favorite. : )

I'm take off my hat to the Sher Khan. "tremble at his name" (Like Voldemort!) I watched The Jungle Book a lot as a kid, it was intense o.o. The monkey king was an interesting sub-villain as well... (the danger of falling for flattery...) I like that there was more than one 'issue' in that movie, there was the 'big' baddie, but the jungle was full of other unrelated dangers.

The Hunchback movie is interesting to me... I remember really hating it as a kid, I saw it once, and never wanted to see it again. I didn't specifically remember why I didn't like it, or even the plot really, it didn't scare me, or bore me, I just remember being really... put off by it. Now that I am reading this thread MAYBE it was because I was so disgusted/putt off by the story themes and nasty stuff Frollo was doing!

Jafar. Because just imagine what would happen if somebody in the middle east would find him, and change the world with his infinite power.
That'd sure make CNN fun to watch. Fox would still remain for the mentally retarded, mind you.

Easily, to me, the answer is Malificent.

Now, I think there are a lot of people in this thread that are siding with a few of the villains simply because they killed someone, but if you remember correctly Malificent's spell was intentioned and cast to kill Aurora before her 16th birthday, I mean, as a child! It was only because the fairies were able to weaken her spell that Aurora is destined to live.

Malificent's name alone means Evil-Doer. She appears in the castle for the christening via a shot of green lightning, people! She kidnaps Prince Philip and taunts him saying she's going to keep him for 100 years and then release him to wake the beautiful and ageless Aurora while he is crippled and nearly dead. She casts lightning, creates the forest of thorns and turns into a dragon the size of a castle to summon "All the powers of Hell!". As she falls to her death she still lashes out to take Philip with her.

Additionally, if you take into consideration this was released in 1959 and play that against the 90s and 00s the movie makers can get away with a lot more evil doing. Should this be re-made right now? She would literally own the souls of all living beings. I'm just saying.

She is to her dying breath the very embodiment of menacing, evil power, and even in the extended Disney universe she continues to be a recurring villain that often leads the others in the charge against good. She'll always be my favorite at heart. :)

(And to top it off she wears "Horns of the Devil"; I mean seriously- how can you compete with that?)
