Disney Villains: Who's the King of the Castle? ( )

"BEEEEE PREPAAAA-AAARED!

Right, well, I think the title of this topic makes what I want to talk about pretty clear. Most of us are at least halfway familiar with Disney's colorful array of characters .. sidekicks, princesses, princes, heroes, and .. the villains!

Which one do you think is the best? Which do you think is the worst? Who do you think would fit in most comfortable with our 21st century times?

Really explore the issue, guys! I wanna hear what you have to say!

Personally, I think Scar is the most badass. Just, straight up. Hence, the title up there at the top of the post. xD Aside from actually killing his brother in one of the most horrific childhood moments of my life (I couldn't watch that part in the movie!) he's just nasty, yet cool, clam and collected.

Close second would be Ursula, the Sea Witch. Anyone who can grow a million feet and wave tentacles around in the air and teach me the word "insignificant" just before getting owned by a ship is a hero of mine. That, and she's sort of just nasty.

Alright, so I'm opening the floor to the rest of you.

Thoughts?

Cruella Deville.

She literally skins what are essentially people in the movie. If the little animated puppies can talk and be the main character, we can only assume that the other hundreds of animals she wears were also equally sapient. Chilling stuff.

Personally, I find someone chasing after the main characters with the intent to cut their skin off and wear it as a coat a little creepy. I'm just glad my young child's brain did not comprehend the sinister, sick nature of this at the time.

I have to agree with the above post - Cruella gave me nightmares as a child and, actually, probably still would...

Also, the dog's owner in the Fox and the Hound - the one who wants to kill the little fox. Come to think of it, Disney have quite a few movies about animal abuse, eh?

Hmm. Best? Probably Yzma. Not for her evilness, but her comedic genius. "Pull the lever, Kronk!" She is fairly scheming, though. I mean, assassination plan on the emperor! Sure, it back-fired horribly, but it's the awful thought that counts.

Pure evil-wise, I'd definitely side with Scar. Sorry, Cruella, but that sick, sick lion murdered his brother then ordered for his nephew to be slain. He even went the extra mile - making Simba believe his father's death was his fault. Was it necessary? No. Was it absolutely EVIL? YES.

Although... Hopper from "A Bug's Life" gave me serious nightmares. O.O

Worst - Kaa, the snake from the Jungle Book. That serpent just fails at evil. Hilarious to watch, however. Another favorite sidekick - Ed, from the Lion King.

Who would be the most comfortable in the 21st Century? Cruella would win in this category. However, the funniest villain to see running around modern society would be Captain Hook. Nothing beats pirates... Especially pirates who can't even take care of a bunch of kids.
If I was wittier, you'd be laughing right now.

For sheer terror, I'd say chef Louis. He's a mass murderer who sings like it ain't no thing. Ursula is all bluster. She doesn't even kill most of her "victims".

But Gaston is the best villain, by far. He's looking kind of bummed out in a bar and everyone starts singing his theme song. CHA 18, chaotic neutral, who even cares about the rest of the character sheet. Did I mention he has a theme song?

The worst villain is whoever the villain in pinnochio was. They were so nonmemorable that I don't even remember if pinnochio had a villain.

Wait. Wasn't it the whale? O.o That was my impression the entire time. Or what's it... wasn't there a fox or something? And a creepy carnival?

There was. Like. A guy who owned Pleasure Island, or something. A bratty kid, too. Pinnochio was weird. Go back and watch it, once. No, really. And then don't look away.

Fair point on Chef Louis, by the way. xD That's, like, the best song by the way. I'm gonna go YouTube it thanks to you.

And Cruella DeVille .. fair point that she skins puppies. But I'm still sticking with Scar. Scar had that added element of psychological torture with what he did. That, and he's a lion.

"He's a lion... who can talk." Sorry, I couldn't resist. The inner Starkid in me needed to come out. If you don't know the quote, go watch A Very Potter Musical RIGHT NOW.

As for villains... I still think Hopper from A Bug's Life is terrifying. Just look at 'im!

I don't care what you say, but that is FRIGHTENING. Bugs are scary enough as they are. Plus, Hopper was an effective dictator. And he's only a grasshopper. Disney also went all the way for a gory ending- he was torn apart by baby birds. That movie scarred me.

Alright, alright. Let's keep it off the Pixar stuff. You could argue semantics all day (but I agree, he's a great Pixar villain!)

Let's stick with the traditional 2D animated features!

The character that sent me pulling my feet away from the edge of the bed as a child was Mad Madam Mim!

But ironically enough, Sleeping Beauty was my favorite film... because Malificent was my favorite character!
I felt that any blonde 16 year old dumb enough to ignore parental advice, fall in love with a stranger, and have a sick obsession with stabbing herself on spinning wheels - doesn't deserve to have a movie made about her! Or... possibly I've always had an affinity for Dragon-women. :P

Woops... I thought Pixar was Disney. Brain momentarily shut off. I was preoccupied by the extreme scariness of grasshoppers.

Here are two of my favorite Disney Henchmen:

Ah, Panic and Fear. I love these two. While the movie is totally incorrect in portraying Hercules, it did a wonderful job with the villains. I got to say, Hades was fairly good too. Of course, when I say "good" I mean bad.
Image

Not only does his face freak you out if you keep staring at him, but he's skilled in the art of manipulation. That, and his hilarious disrespect for the dead make him funny to watch. Plus, his head's on fire. What more could you ask for?

Uh.

I liked the Sultan.

All suave and that. A bit like our own Dashmiel really. You know, minus the rampant backstabbing and plotting.

Well, to my knowledge.

The Huns! They were pretty nasty-ass, I must say. I forgot the name of the lead guy, too. And I'm too lazy to do a simple Google search.

I have to say that while he is not especially more vile or cruel than any other villain, I found Hunchback of Notre Dame's Frollo to be wonderfully "full" for a Disney character. Plus he has a wonderful singing voice.

Alright. Let's look at it this way.

What's an unredeemable Disney villain? There are villains where you go -- "oh! He's totally a dick, but hey! _____ is sort of cool!"

Jafar is a good example because he's evil as heck, but Iago the parrot is awesome.

I still think Scar is pretty much the most unredeemable guy. There's nothing good that can be said about him, besides the fact that he has an epic theme song.

I believe Scar would have to be the one of the top villains in my list. None of the villains really scared me when I watched them for the first time, well except for Lady Tremaine a.k.a. "The evil Step-mother" from Cinderella (I was 4 when I watched it, so you can't judge me. :P). The reason for this was because I had an unforgettable nightmare about her two years later, which made me wake up in a cold sweat and shaking. 12 years later, and I still remember it clearly to this day. >_>

Aside from that, Frollo was quite the villain. He was pretty much a pervert, and un-dignified murderer. Another straight up evil villain is the "Horned King" from the Black Cauldron. I mean c'mon what kid isn't afraid of a zombie/borderline demon who kills little children?

The last one I would say, and also portrays some of our own modern criminals, is Madame Medusa from the Rescuers. She kidnapped a little girl, and took away her teddy bear, while forcing her to jump in a well, and almost drown. Evil lady.
