A masquerade ball hosted by the Divine family.
Located in their mansion it can run as long as they want it too.
Open to anyone as long as they are masked.
James Divine came down the stairs, wearing his favourite, tailored, top hat and tails. An extra addition to the hat had recently been made in the form of a velvet mask to cover the top half of his face. On his arm was his wife Robyn Divine, in a flowing blue dress and a mask that covered the left side of her face, adorned with peacock feathers.
Behind them came Halo and Klaus Divine, Klaus wearing all black with a white mask that covered his eyes, bright blue hair falling over it, and Halo was wearing a tight corset dress that came out like a tutu from the hips, her mask was like a strip of black material with two eye holes cut into it.
James went to the double doors and pulled it open, leaflets about their ball had been dotted around the town and there were already some people waiting outside. The whole house had been decorated and music flowed through every room.

A masquerade ball hosted by the Divine family.
Located in their mansion it can run as long as they want it too.

Oh. I was masked alright.
I wore a black mask that covered half of my face, glittering like a moonles starry sky, a few raven feathers adorning it also. Behind the mask, dark hair was scraped back into a wavy ponytail, and my emerald-green eyes saw everything from the pointed oval holes in my mask. Coupled with that, a black, skin-tight leotard with long sleeves and pantlegs decorated my body, also glittering like the night itself. In a futile attempt at appearing more feminine, there was a short, flat black skirt attached to the waist of the leotard. Leather heeled boots. The Midnight Wanderer was here-- a good sign or a bad one, depending on who you were.... or if you had something I wanted.
I handsprang and round-offed from my location of appearance to the front doors of the huge manor, looking thoughtfully up at the huge construction as I stood, hands on hips. The crowd moved a little away from me, and started to whisper. Normally, I would've just busted in. But this was a formal gathering, and the Divines were a powerful family, so I waited impatiently for the doors to open.
This was just a way to entertain myself for the night. If I saw something interesting, maybe I would break out the blades and take it. There was no way of knowing for me-- I was a free spirit, a fleety soul. I went wherever my fancy took me. I didn't worry about the destruction always left in my wake. Life was too short to care about consequences.
.;A picture's worth a thousand words;.
.;But when those words are worthless;.
.;So is the picture;.

Nalee walked up to the mansion, the wind blowing the skirt of her dress around. She looked nothing less than stunning tonight. Her pure black, off the shoulder dress was accented by a black mask with a few crimson sequence. Her black hair hung delicately as it draped past her shoulders, looking as if it was enjoying the little time it had to be free from her usually bun. Her bare feet hit each stair with care, not that anyone could see them.
A faint smile appeared on her face as she awaited for the doors to open. She has known the Divine family for quite some time but never have they seen her like this. She doubted they would even realize who she was, less she tell them.
Once inside she looked around the gorgeous house, taking in everything about it. It was decorated wonderfully tonight. She stood close to the wall, merely watching the people that were attending.

Klaus wasn't sure he liked the feel of not recognising anyone, sure there were a few people he could see who were easily distinguishable because of various features but most of them were a mystery to him, especially the people he had never seen before. He didn't like the idea of his father having opened the house to anyone and everyone. It seemed that this could end in disaster. He watched as a girl in a very skimpy dress walked past, or, he thought, it could be fun.

Finally all the guests-- including myself-- were let in.
I looked around. I didn't recognize anyone, duh, because I wasn't too highly revered in the upper circles of society. The Midnight Walker, my preferred alias, was not usually looked upon as a friend-- unless, of course, I agreed to do a job for them. Then I was the most important thing on two legs. It was disgusting.
I was probably the only woman here not wearing a dress-- but that suited me just fine. Those prissy gals could go play princess all they wanted-- I was my own role model. Long ago I had lived up to my expectations.
Maybe this would be boringly disappointing. I saw many people, including a bunch of not-bad-looking guys, and all the expensive decorations in the house. I saw nothing that caught my fancy. Yet. Maybe I'd get a job.
Everything was so dull, with these lords and ladies just chatting about unimportant matters. Maybe a little entertainment would do them some good. I pulled some acrobatic stunts, flips and handsprings, sometimes an aerial now and then. People stared, some awed, some appalled. A ballroom was no place for these childish stunts! But I didn't care. I liked the attention.
Finally I came to a stop, and readjusted my mask so that it wasn't out of place. Some dark hair was coming loose, but I took a break as the music came on and went over to the refreshment table and grabbed some exotic fruit, munching on it as I watched the dull waltzers. Not even I could spice up waltz music-- it was made to be mellow, made to be dull. Mellow wasn't my style. So I hung out at the buffet table for a while-- most people kept away from me, but some whispered among themselves and started to point. I didn't care.

It had been a while since Nym had last met the Divine family, and was glad to have the chance to encounter them again - even if there was a high chance of them not recognising her due to the mask she wore.
A white mask covered her eyes and the top of her nose, wrapping round the side of her head, the shape of angel wings sitting comfortably against her head, feathers of doves adorning it to make it look that little more realistic and a gentle sprinkle of silver glitter for that extra sparkle. Scarlet hair fell over the top of the mask, the side fringe covering a little of her sapphire eyes, the rest of her hair only reaching just below her chin.
She gazed around the room that the ball was being held in, a small smile playing on her pink lips as she saw the many people inside, amazed by some of the gowns and masks that were being worn. Nym glanced down at her own dress, checking that she wasn't under or over dressed.
It was a simple white dress without straps, sitting tightly around her torso until it reached her waist, where layers of silk and silver glittered netting fell halfway down her thigh, allowing the rest of her leg to be shown. Around her waist was a red ribbon, adding some colour to the outfit along with a little more decoration as it was tied into a bow to one side of her waist, allowing the rest of the material to fall down to where her dress finished.
She gazed round, slowly moving around the ballroom to see all which there was to see, before picking a place to stand and just watch. She didn't go round talking to people, as there were not many that she recognised, and so she stood there watching, enjoying the atmosphere in the place.
Thinking of you, wherever you are.
We pray for our sorrows to end, and hope that our hearts will blend.

Klaus looked up from the skimpy dressed girl, seeing someone else, dressed entirely in white. He recognized her, due to the colour of her hair, but he could be wrong. He headed over to her, knowing that his hair would definatly give him away, but he hadn't seen her for so long, if it was her, he wanted to talk with her.
"Erm hello?" he said to the girl in white with the ribbon at her waist.

Hearing an uncertain greeting, Nym's gaze wandered to Klaus, instantly recognising him due to the voice and bright blue hair. Her small smile grew slightly, a giggle escaping her as she guessed that he wasn't sure if it was her or not.
"Good Evening, Klaus." She replied, giving Klaus a little curtsey, "What a lovely event your family is holding." She commented, her gaze wandering across the room once again before looking back at Klaus, wondering if she would be recognised now.

He smiled, still slightly unsure he heard the next song start up, "Can i have this dance?" no matter how stupid this ball was he could still have fun right? And dancing with this girl, Nym or not, seemed like fun.

Nym's eyes lit up with the request for a dance with her. She held her smile, simply nodding once in reply.
"I would love to." She replied quietly, her gaze wandering to the dancefloor.

He reached out and took her hand, if only he didn;t look so much like himself, he knew he should have dyed his hair. He led her onto the dance floor and took her waist with one hand, pulling her close, and kept hold of her other hand "Remember when we used to pretend to dance when we were kids?"

As she was led to the dancefloor, she noticed the looks that she received for having been picked by Klaus to dance with. She gulped quietly, hoping that none of the girls would get too jealous for being the first to be picked. She couldn't help being an old friend of Klaus.
She gently rested her free hand on Klaus's shoulder, locking her gaze with Klaus's as they danced along with the music.
"I remember it well, you weren't much of a gentleman then though..." She said with a giggle, "I guess that's changed quite a bit now," She added.

He smiled "I'm still no gentlemen." he watched as the dance floor seemed to clear, feeling stupid when it was only them. "I didn't offer you a drink."

"You know I would've asked for one if I wanted one..." Nym said quietly in reply, watching as the dancefloor seemed to empty, just leaving them there. She felt a red tinge hinting her cheeks as she saw that they were on their own on the floor. "Why did they go? The song's not finished yet..." She said quietly, unable to understand why they had gone, her gaze lingering on Klaus again.

He smiled, pulling her around in a wide circle "I wanted them to." he said, "It's nice when i can lead a partner around the dance floor without being interrupted." He spun her again. "At a ball there is a certain code to go by, the host often dances his first alone, in my house anyway."

Nym smiled weakly as Klaus spoke of how he wanted to have the first dance alone. The red tinge on her cheeks became a little brighter, but not enough yet to match her hair.
"It's been a while since I last attended a ball," She said quietly as she was able to face Klaus again, a small smile on her face, "So, shouldn't the rest of your family be on this dancefloor too - as hosts of this ball too?" She asked, still curious and forever asking questions, just like when they were younger.

"If they wanted to, but Halo hasn't found anyone to dance with yet. And my parents are off entertaining their guests, so it is just you and me." he spun her again as the music came to a stop, Klaus held her close during the last few seconds of tinkling music, he then stepped back, bowed to her and walked away to the sound of gentle clapping. A new song started and people filtered back onto the floor.

Nym was quiet as Klaus held her close, eyes sparkling like the glitter of her mask. As Klaus bowed to her, Nym returned with a curtsey, watching as others filtered onto the floor as Klaus walked off, leaving her to weave her way through the couples to follow after him.
"I guess you haven't become much of a gentleman over the years," Nym said once she was close enough for him to hear her words, adding another giggled for playful effect. "So how has everything been, it's been a while since we've last spoken?" She asked, holding her small smile as she spoke.

He turned, smiling as he backed through the crowd "You were insisting that i was earlier." he pretended to be insulted.

"Well, that was before you said that you hadn't, and then left me on the dancefloor." She said, seeing through his act of being insulted, reaching out to poke his chest "and don't think I'll fall for your acts like I used to." She added with a light chuckle.
