“May you never forget what is worth remembering, nor ever remember what is best forgotten.”
She got involved in a traffic accident. A speeding car slammed into her side and skidded off into another car. Her car was smashed, yes. She and her unborn child were lucky enough to survive, with her escaping with several scrapes, bruises and a broken arm. She was immediately sent to the hospital when someone, a kind doctor, was kind enough to help her get out, take her to the hospital where he worked in and even stalled work time just to see if she was okay. They eventually became good friends. Peter happened to visit her when she gained consciousness again, but when he did, she asked him who he was. Unable to bear the loss of his girlfriend's memories of him, he tried in vain to get her to remember, but each time he did, she would say that she didn't really remember. At his wit's end, he grabbed all the prescription medication he had, bought a heck load of beer and mouthed it all down.
Soon after, Rowena was able to go back on her feet, despite the difficulty of being able to do so because of her being pregnant. A day or three later, she goes into labor and gives birth to a healthy baby boy. As the baby boy is handed to her, he opens his eyes and for the first time, she is struck. She is reminded of the man who visited her so often in the hospital after the accident. She then remembers. Everything. She names him Damon Peter Blaisdell after the father that he could've lived to see and the boyfriend whose death was caused by her amnesia.
But that was three years ago.
Her son is now at the vibrant age of three, a happy, healthy little boy who had inherited his father's eyes and looks. He lives with his mother in a loft apartment, where he is free to roam around and do as he pleases. Everything's been child-proofed, of course. He may be happy, but his mother isn't. She lives life miserably, works with a low morale and feels like she has nothing left. She still feels responsible for bringing about the death of her beloved boyfriend and she can't seem to have closure because of it. Upon the insistence of her mother, Rowena goes to see a psychiatrist, Dr. Addison Koertig. He turns out to be a simple young man, handsome too, about her age, and is quite understanding and mild-mannered, even outside of his profession. He helps her a lot, especially with coping with Peter's death and her guilt. She knows she is falling for him, but she's afraid of insulting Peter's memory. Addison also feels the same way, but he feels like this would simply impair the professional relationship they have together. Would their sessions bring them closer together or make them fall apart?
