"Well," announced Alún, "I think we'd best be off before any even more absurd compatriots show up."

He turned to a trio of crewmen and commanded, "Raise anchor! We're off!"

As ropes were untied and sails were drawn, Alún turned to the mercenaries. "I cannot make any garuntee of success," he explained calmly, "but as long as we do not kill each other, I believe we stand to make a great profit on this venture. I'll assume everyone here is familar with the legend of the Lost Empire of Jihalnidad?"

At the Captain's words Phoenix's eyes and wings snapped open and she easily lifted herself up and on deck landing gracefully. Some of the crewmen scurring to get out of the way of her wings and sickle she was holding out to keep her balance. Glancing around Phoenix took in the ship and then sneared at the water. "Let the fun begin," she mumbled to herself and slowly made her way across the ship.

Nweris nodded the Captain's way and found herself a spot by the bow of the ship, out of the way of the crew. Jaks scrambled behind her, remaining by her side as he looked at everyone milling about. She took a deep breath and exhaled, relaxing for the first time since making her way to the ship. The sea calmed her and she stared out to the open waters, eager for the adventure to begin.

Perturbbed by the captianing fogetting her, Rierjah shoved the contract in his chest giveing him a sharp jab. She kept staring at the man as she said:

This ship will go nowhere until you have decided about this contract or not. I have answered my name and I already know what that we are going to this lost empire as hired hand. Now tell me what you want from me and sign and I'll do the same. And I certainly don't think you cannot afford to have not a user in the dark artson this journey, for I know of Jihalnidad, one of the many homes of dark art users.

Her voice had raised to an annoyed tone and she made sure everyone knew what she was saying without yelling. As one could tell already the mime did not like to be forgotten.

Alún took a deep breath. "I hope you will understand, my lady," he explained with the slightest tinge of patronization, "If I do not trust a contract forged by black magic. Are you certain that you and I cannot enter a contract without sorcerous bonds?"

The merchant was trying not to be rude about the matter. He had delt with witchcraft before, however, and had found it to hurt as often as it helped.

After a brief silence, he conceded, "I have no doubt that your skills are considerable, Miss Rierjah, and I would be happy to have you along--with less strings attached."

The mime stands there and thinks for a while.

Fine then, we do not have to sign this contract, I will treat with great sespect just like my other employers. You had just better pray that the resluts are worth this adventure, for you certainly don't want to cross a mime, it can only mean 10 generations of bad luck for your family and friends.

She took a step back from the captain, tossed him a small bell teied to a pink ribbon and made an elegent bow.

When you need me just ring the bell, no one elese will but me.

She flipped backwards and jumped up to the mast, to keep a watch on everyone. She had no intentions of making any friends with her fellow employees, just like she did with the rest of jobs.

I can only hope the rumors are true about this place, for taking such a great risk. I won't die yet ... not until I find him.

Alún caught the bell deftly and turned it over in his hands, examining it. There seemed nothing too out-of-the-ordinary. He nodded silently, then muttered under his breath. "I've been praying that for fourteen years."

With some creaking, the Good Intent left the port of Aboad Komano.

"Ah, finally ..." stated Keleth at Alùn's words. Shortly afterwards, the ship slowly started moving, making its way out of the bay. Not wishing to talk to anyone, or make friends, the assassin started climbing the rigging and netting up to the top of the mast, to the crow's nest. He glared at the mime as he passed her, and once on top, settled into the small cubicle, pulling out his pipe and lighting it. From his vantage point, the port-city of Aboad Komano could be almost entirely seen, the inhabitants looking like ants walking the streets. Keleth starred out at the ocean, taking in the scenic view and hoping the trip turned out fruiful. If not, heads would roll, he would make sure of that ...

Phoenix looked around the ships and smiled at the horizon. Walking over to a bench against the main hall and put down her sickle. She turned around and snapped her wings open, "Time to take a better look," she said to herself and took to the air. Gently beating her wings Phoenix flew alongside the ship for a couple of seconds then shot up to the height of the mask then went up highter still, her bright wings looking like they were glowing from the sun shining down on them, her shadow on the ships deck as she kept pace with the slow moving ship.

After initial outburst of tempers has been dealt with Argo went to talk to the captain once again, but this time with his undivided attention. Captain if you may, I have a few questions and a suggestion. Well for one I control the wind as you have already had a chance to witness. They can be mild or extremely strong, bu I am not able to manipulate extreme winds for long so if you are in need of the wind at any point of our travel please tell me. Now for the questions, have you ever meat an Air elemental? I have been looking for my kind for a long time but have not been able to find them yet. If you have I would be in your debt if you would want to share that information. And also my magic is effective against demons, demigods and spirits, but not against the living. I have only a few spells for them and one of them is healing, but is not very effective. I am mostly defensive mage and I dislike violence so I will try to deal with ever situation in a peaceful matter, if that outcome is possible. I hope you will not hinder my attempts. I thought I would tell you of my abilities so you know what can you expect from me. Also I am solid with my staff, but not that great to be someones bodyguard. Now that I have told you this may I ask why exactly are we going to that specific location? Is it for the map?

"Woah, woah!" exclaimed Alún, "Slow down, my friend! Air elementals? I have heard some wild tales, but so has everybody. I do not know that I have ever met one before, though, I am sorry.

As for our goal--I'm seeking the Jihalnidad Map, yes. You know of it, apparently."

He shrugged. "I am rather suprised that the others seem so uninterested in our prize."

At the word "prize," Aboad Komano was gone over the horizon. The Good Intent was officially out-to-sea. "So," the captain continued at length, "what is a priest's interest in treasure-hunting? You strike me as the type to be pouring through old scrolls, not out at sea, if you take no offense sir."

None what so ever. Indeed my captain, I have been doing that for a long time. But my village has other excellent priest beside me, and I have longed for the knowledge of my ancestors, so when you mentioned the journey to the land of Jihalnidad I was extremely pleased. I have some knowledge of that land but they are not extensive. Still that map is the answer to my prayers, for ti can show me the land of my ancestors, the very thing I have been searching for so long. As for the reword in gold, I am really not all that interested in it. After all it was my destiny to be on this ship.
So you to have not meat any... Oh well once the map is in your possession I Will make a copy of the rode to where I want to go and once our adventure is finished I will be on my way. As for remark about the rest are not interested, they all have different goals and needs. Seems like most of them is here for the good, material values, not spiritual... Shame but to each his heart desire.
When you say prize I am rather interested how you intend to share a map? I know it show you what you want to see, well its location to be exact. I am sure you have thought of this. One thing though, how much obstacles do you expect to find on our journey? And have you ever sailed there before?

Jaks, the fox on board the ship, backed up behind his human's legs while Asphir was talking to the Xienian, forgetting her frustration with the assassin. Ash smiled at her and nodded her head before noticing that the anchor had been raised and the ship was slowly sailing away from Aboad Komano, and towards the mystery destination that she didn't recall being told about.

She noticed that Argo, one of the men that she had talked to earlier, was talking to Alún, the captain of the ship. Slowly she took a few steps towards them so that she could hear the conversation that was taking place, while pretending to look out at sea, taking in the new landscapes passing the boat. She heard some talk about something called the Jihalnidad Map, and soon heard that it would show whoever was using it the way to the thing they need to find. Her ears picked up at the thought of this- she could use the map to find her mother, who she had never even met. All that she knew of her was that shortly after giving birth to her, she had run off on her baby daughter and husband to live in one of the larger cities in Litawja.

After listening to a small snippet the conversation, she decided to withdraw from eavesdropping and to sit down for a little while and recap the day. A lot had happened since boarding the ship, and she had met quite a few people, but she could tell that not all of them liked her.

The assassin seems to have it out for me, starting a fight with me in such a cocky manner almost as soon as I stepped on board. Phoenix is rather quick witted but would certainly be a good ally in battle due to her amazing use of fire. Argo is very wise, from what I have seen, and I could probably count on him to make some good decisions. The mime seems rather reserved, but I suppose that she would be very useful as she seemed rather intimidating as well as skilled. The mysterious man that was playing the flute seemed to be in the same boat as the mime- Asphir chuckled at her non-intended pun, and continued to think, reserved, but I barely have even seen his face, so I doubt that I can pass any judgment on him. Alún seems to have certainly obtained a varied range of mercenaries for this expedition- I just hope I can do my part.

After thinking for quite awhile, Asphir could feel her tiredness come over her, as she hadn't been able to sleep the night before, as she stayed up in almost excitement. She closed her eyes. Just for a few minutes, she thought.

Netormat stood there silent, unmoving, observing those around him.He cracked his neck and pulled off his mask to show the bright reptile within in,in a blur he leot down deck and followed the scent of food if the cold took over here Netormat shuddered to think of what would happen.stopping he ran into the kitchen opening the pots and pans he tasted the food and smiled he was at home here.In a lightening quick motion he flew arounf the room and and his arms turned to knives he began to chop and eat before he snaggged a raw steak and walked out tearing atr it as he went the sailors all looked at him in fear to which he responded with a snarl. he reached the deck and started to shiver climbing up the mast he dug his claws into the wood before slipping he plumeted down raising his arm it shot off and grabbed the mast connected to him by only a silver thread he drooped onto the ground and his arm reatatched to him.

Phoenix took in a deep breath of salt air and smiled, "Wonderful," she breathed and then angled her wings and flew back to the deck gracefully landing with her wings open. Looking around she took in the goings ons. Her red eyes shifted around and her nose curled when she saw the new mysterman eatting a raw steak. When the breeze carried from him over to her she froze and made her way over to him, her head cocked to the side. "You, you're the one who came up behinde me in the plaza," she stated instead of asked. "You are not what you seem are you... lizard?" Phoenix rose a thin brow and smirked at him, kindly but knowingly.

Below him, th ship was buzing with activity: the priest, Argo, was chatting with the captain, Asphir and the girl with the fox were both talking, and the latest arrival had quickly charged into the ship's mess only to come back out a minute later with a raw leg of meat, eating it ferociously.

Letting his gaze drift back to the horizon, he sighed: Gah, arrogance. It has invaded my personnality, my words are dripping with it. I deserve my rank, my repute, but I shouldn't let that cloud my thoughts; overconfidence kills, and Phoenix could've killed me. Fried my, turned me into a pile of ash. He sighed again, louder this time: I've also been foolish in another way, I've signed on this trip without knowing what the hell we're crossing the ocean for ! I trusted Pat, that sucks ... The expedition better pay off, otherwise Pat'll have a very, very hard time. Hmmm, I need a good sparring session, get my mind off of my thoughts, thinking too much is unhealthy, hehe. Alùn's sword is beautiful, might mean he's a good fighter, let's try.

Keleth ended his interior monologue, and started down the mast, climbing down the rigging. A few feet off the ground, the assassin jumped into the air, arms spread out, his cloak billowing behind him. He landed in a graceful roll, only a short way from Alùn and the wind-mage, who had just finished talking. Nearing him, he stated, deliberately interrupting the end of their conversation: "Excuse me captain, could I talk to you for a bit, I have a few questions and a request." He tried to sound polite, showing respect to his employer was good professional manners, and this was just another job, he kept that in mind.

Rierjah sitting on top of the mast saw the captain talking with the elf. She narrowed her eyes and started to lip read what they were saying. She only caught a few words, but they were the ones that reassured her what group was searching for.

Sigh... We've certianly got a varied people here. I don't know if I can keep an eye on them all. I don't like any of them. Hot headed, shy, quiet, annoying, goody-too-shoes, and most of all stubborn. Oh how I hate stubborn people, they are sooo hard to persuade. How in the world am I going to ever get that map for myself and even then escape this them. That bird woman would be flyinh right after me in a heart beat and the assasian would surely find me in the shadows. Sigh... I pretty sure I need that map more than they do. Most of them will probly use it for their own selfish needs. Greedy people. Urgh... how will I ever find him if I don't have the map to myself, he's always traveling so fast, and I can't wait for the other people to be done using it, he'll most likely be dead by then. What am to do?

The mime looked over the horizon to see it there was anything but water. Something big and luminescent caught her eye. Fear went through her like an arrow of ice.

OFF THE PORT BOW! HEADING RIGHT AT US!

Dear god, I hope we have more than just fire power on this ship for what's coming at us.

At Rierjah's shout, a crewman ran up to her. He whipped out a telescope from his belt and looked through it at the anomoly she had pointed out. A worried look marred his face as he turned towards Alún.

"Cap'n! Jellytitan coming up the rear!"

Immediately Alún shouted up to Alecks, the first mate, who was at the ship's wheel. "Alecks! Jellytitan! Pull port!"

The first mate turned the wheel left, and the Good Intent turned accordingly. The crewman with the telescope looked to Rierjah. "It's okay, Miss. We have lots of Jellytitans 'round here--you know, sort uh like jellyfish, but really big. They got no brains at all, though, so they just swim in a straight line 'till they hit something. We're safe now. Thanks fer spotting it."

Meanwhile, Captain Alún turned towards the assassin curiously. "Yes, what is it?" he asked blank-faced.
