Enough To Wake The Dead ;; { OOC }

written by OhMyGeeABumbleBee & DyingHere & St.Jimmy

17th August 1990

Holmsfield General Hospital

8:17pm

42 year old Todd Johansson staggered, bleeding, into the A&E department of the hospital, aided by his wife and 14 year old son. Examinations soon ascertained that the Johanssons had been on a bike ride together when Mr. Johansson had apparently lost control of his bike and fallen, resulting in the deep gash in his leg. Mr. Johansson was given 7 stitches and, despite his insisting that he was just very sensitive around blood, was advised to spend the night on the ward after losing consciousness twice during treatment.

Not long after his family left, medical student Kathy Saunders, 23, noticed Mr. Johansson appeared to be suffering with severe flu-like symptoms; a few hours later and Mr. Johansson was vomiting blood. Eventually Kathy suggested the possibility that the patient was suffering from Ebola virus - the test results came back positive, and by then it was too late. The virus had already worked its way through his system.

20th August 1990

Three days later, the town's authorities announced that the outbreak caused by inexperienced doctors, poor hygiene and a single sick patient had reached epidemic status, and gave the go-ahead for the hospital and all the patients and staff inside to be sealed in and abandoned, in a ludicrous but effective attempt to keep the virus from spreading further.

Holmsfield stood with its doors locked and bolted, those inside sealed off forever from the outside world.

31st December 2008

Kathy Saunders had not been inside the hospital when it was sealed and New Year’s Eve eighteen years later saw her 16-year-old daughter, Anne, hosting a New Year's Eve party. Anne was a very kind-hearted girl who made friends easily, and from her first day in high school surprised everyone by becoming acquaintances with a number of people in each clique. In some cases, these acquaintances became close friendships, but just as she was never associated with one group, she was always welcome in each.

It was because of this that Anne decided to invite a few people from each clique, with the full knowledge that they all hated each other and had never spoken, to her New Year's Eve party, which was to be held in her house, having thrown out her parents for the night. Surprisingly enough, everyone who had been invited turned up, and after about half an hour of uncomfortable coughs and hostile glances, people started to mingle. Things seemed to be going fairly well, until someone said the wrong thing, and an ugly argument followed. Anne had just forced herself into the middle of her bickering friends when a punch was thrown, and then the real fighting started.

Afterwards, no one could say what had happened: no one knew who had started the argument; what had been said; who had struck out first; how long the fighting had gone on for. All they knew was that the sound of shattering glass and an ear-piercing scream that would stay with them forever silenced them immediately, and slowly all eyes turned toward a broken window. Time seemed to stand still for a moment as each of the teenagers took in the sight of the crumpled body lying sprawled on the lawn below - and then someone screamed, and time caught up with itself. In an unspoken agreement, everyone headed for the stairs and assembled around the girl covered in glass and blood. One of the boys reached out with his foot to kick her onto her back, and there was not a single person present who didn't cringe or wince or turn away. Anne's face was badly cut, with jagged shards of glass piercing her cheeks and her eye. It wasn't really necessary, but the same boy knelt beside her, felt her pulse, and announced to the silent crowd that she was dead.

A panicked frenzy ensued. Some people wanted to go to the police, to either confess everything or to claim it was suicide; others suggested getting rid of the body and carrying on as if they'd never been to any New Year's Eve party. The stronger people in the group persuaded and, in some cases, bullied the others into believing that the latter option made more sense; after a long deliberation, they moved the body to a nearby wood, buried it, and swore to each other that they would never bring the evening up again.

When the police got involved, the teenagers simply insisted that they’d never accepted Anne’s invitation, and no one could prove otherwise. The disappearance was initially put down to her running away, but as the days drew on Anne’s parents had to begin to come to terms with the fact that it seemed unlikely they would ever see their daughter again. As Anne's face made less and less frequent appearances in the newspapers, and people began to find other things to talk about, the group of students who had more or less murdered her began to relax.

Even though they never dared to talk about what they had been doing while the rest of the town was bringing in 2009, each and every one of them found reassurance in the unspoken assumption that no one would ever find out, that it was all behind them, and that they would never have to face the events of 31st December 2008 again.

31st December 2009

New Year's Eve, exactly one year after The Incident. Everyone who had attended the party, who had contributed to Anne Saunders' death, received a letter yesterday, written in an oddly familiar hand, telling them to turn up at the abandoned Holmsfield General Hospital for "A night you'll never forget." What none of them realise is, the letters ask them to arrive at the same time as the previous year's get together.

Unaware of the identity of the other people invited, each teenager shows up outside the old hospital at the allocated time, and gets a big surprise when they realise who has also been asked to show. Someone immediately suggests one of them set it up to mess with them, and they bicker for a few minutes before realising that the previously boarded up doors of the hospital have opened, and both intrigued and scared, they enter.

What they encounter is this; the body of the girl they killed exactly one year ago today, lying mangled and broken on the floor a little way down the corridor, surrounded by glass and covered in blood. Everyone's attention is drawn to her hand, which twitches slightly, and then to her eyes, which open and roll in their sockets to stare at each of them in turn. And a small, deliriously twisted smile stretches across her slashed face.

"It was your fault."

With this, the fainter hearted of the group turn and run for the doors, but they slam shut in their faces as they reach them.

"And you will pay."

The rest of the group wheel around to stare at the others as they wrestle with the doors, but they appear to have boarded themselves back up again, leaving them trapped. Slowly, they turn as one back to face the body - ghost? - of Anne Saunders once more, but she's gone, leaving nothing but a haunting trail of blood leading down the darkest of corridors.

"Well shit."

- PROFILE -

JOE ANDREW ARMSTRONG

Image

Name;;
Joseph "Joe" Andrew Armstrong.

Age;;
Seventeen.

Role;;
Stoner friend.

Personality;;
'Apathy' could be Joe's middle name. It's certainly the one word that hangs around him like a cloud of his own cigarette smoke, detailing every second of his life. It's more than just he can't be bothered - he doesn't want to be bothered. As far as he's concerned, life hasn't given him enough reason to be. It's never been particularly bad or particularly good, and Joe's personality somewhat reflects that. He doesn't have a lot of time for anybody else, and his attitude towards other people is borderline contemptuous - not because he thinks he's better than them, but just because he simply doesn't like talking to other people. At the same time, however, he has a sympathetic side that comes into play whenever he sees anybody who's quiet or afraid, and he can be very protective of the few people he gets truly close to. Most of the time, however, he's too busy being antisocial to make friends.

Joe is opinionated, but seldom cares enough to try and get his point across. Instead, he'll just be cynically dismissive inside his own head of what everyone else has to say on a topic, but he'll rarely voice his thoughts. Sarcasm comes very easily to him, but he'll be more likely to show that with a contemptuous expression than voice whatever comment came to mind. The only time he'll ever really speak out is if he's wound up over something - more often than not, this will be over someone's treatment of somebody else than because of his own thoughts on something. Even this is rare, however; Joe just prefers his own company and doesn't like to get involved in other people's business. He never really bothers to get involved in lessons in school, either, preferring to zone out at the back of the classroom, if he even shows up at all. Whether or not he's clever is questionable, since he honestly doesn't care about his results and so he puts no effort in whatsoever.

If 'apathetic' is a defining word for Joe, then so is 'cynical'. He's never prepared to believe that anyone's doing anything for a reason other than self-gain, and that's part of the reason he's so distant from most people - he tends to see the worst in everyone, and only hangs around with his friends because they share the same drugs and some of the same experiences as him. Most of the time, however, he just sees other people as stupid and selfish, and he knows he's no better, but the fact that he sees the rest of the world like that doesn't exactly encourage him to be selfless and giving. He's a closed book for much of the time, cynically amused by people around him but detached from them by his own scorn and contempt. He's also highly disbelieving of anything out of the ordinary - years of LSD hallucinations have taught him that he's better off being sceptical than believing what he sees at first sight, and for that reason he's much more likely to consider something a hoax than actually believe it. Joe isn't exactly a very nice person unless he really makes the effort to get to know someone, and then a better side of him is revealed, but for the most part people don't really like him very much.

Bio;;
Joseph Armstrong didn't cry when he was born. Even as a newborn baby, he couldn't be bothered to scream when it hurt. Maybe his life was spelled out from the word go, because although he was a planned baby, his young and recently married parents started their arguments a month before he was born, and they only ended when his dad walked out when he was six. Joe suffered his formative years watching his parents scream at each other, and although neither were abusive in any way, it wasn't a comfortable childhood, and it was a childhood in which he was more or less ignored. His sister, Brianne, was born when he was five, and she became the catalyst that hurried the catastrophic marriage into divorce. Watching his dad walk out the door with a suitcase, the six year old Joe knew nothing except confusion - but then, his mother never explained it to him properly, because she had his one year old sister to deal with.

Life carried on in a very similar way for the next few years. His days consisted of going to school and coming home from school with not much in between. He saw his dad on weekends, but that was usually just sitting and watching a DVD together in silence, eating his dad's disastrous cooking and then going home again on Sunday morning. His mum was juggling raising two young children with her job, and it meant she was often snappy and expected Joe to help out a lot around the house, and when Brianne had gone to bed she liked to be left alone and snatch a few moments of peace, so as Joe got older he began staying in his room all night. This wasn't too far removed from other teenagers, but as the years went by his reclusiveness grew more and more refined. He'd get in from school, (on the days he actually went), sit in his room and not come out again until it was time to leave for school the next day. Even on weekends, he refused to go and see his dad - what was the point? Joe was thirteen now, and he saw his father as a useless, boring man who seldom spoke and had no job; who sat around all day watching T.V and waiting for the evening, when he could start drinking without feeling like an alcoholic who had to drink all day.

Apathy became grounded in his life. It clung to his dad, whenever he saw him - jobless and single and friendless and bored - and it hovered around his mother, because for all her rushing around at work and brisk attitude with he and his sister, she didn't like her life and he got the impression that she didn't really care what happened in it. He'd had friends at school, despite the fact he was known to be laced with sarcasm and had been accused of some bullying when he was younger, but now he drifted away and closed himself off. Other kids recognized the hostility coming off him in waves, and he gravitated towards the others who emanated similar feelings. It wasn't long before he tried weed - finally, something that tasted and smelt exactly how he felt every single day. Apathy in a roll-up. Marijuana led to LSD, and LSD to the occasional line of cocaine, but generally he sticks with less dangerous drugs. He doesn't want to die; he just likes the way the drugs make him feel what no one else can.

Despite the fact that Joe had been ignored his whole life, he wasn't ever bitter. He decided that he quite liked being left alone, finding everyone else amusing - but only through his own derision. The contempt he felt for everyone else he also felt for himself, but at least, he felt, he could see the selfishness in everyone around him, including himself. Everyone else seemed to be deluding themselves that they were actually good people. That was why he chose the friends he did - because none of them ever talked much, and drugs were their shared hobby. However, when Joe received the invitation from Anne Saunders to go to the New Year's Eve party, he decided to go. He didn't know exactly why, but maybe it was just because he was sick of just talking to the inside of his own head when he was spaced out on drugs. It wasn't long after his late arrival, however, that his own cynical suspicions about other people were proven true - there was a huge fight, and the next thing Joe knew, a girl was dead in the garden. He was the one who turned her onto her back with his foot, and he didn't say anything while the others argued over what to do with the body, but once it was decided that they'd bury it, he was one of the ones who dug the grave. He'd barely spoken a word to anyone all night, and here he was burying a dead girl in the woods.

A year passed, and Joe's only link to the incident is the fact that he's become even more reclusive than before, barely ever shows up at college, and he sometimes gets visions of Anne's body in his drug-induced hallucinations. However, the old sense of apathy has settled back on him and he really doesn't believe that anything much will ever come of what happened. When he received another invitation, he decided to go over to the old hospital just to see who had sent him it, because Joe's not exactly the sort of person who people fall over themselves to invite to their party, but since arriving and seeing the crowd of people who are here, he's decided it's all just some sick hoax. And he's determined to keep thinking that, no matter what.

Appearance;;
Joe stands at around 5'8"; not particularly tall, but not short either. He weighs around 58kg, his natural thin frame worsened by the drugs he takes and the fact that he's not too bothered about eating regular meals. Joe used to keep his hair, naturally a reddy-brown shade, cut short, but more recently he's let it grow down to around chin-length and doesn't bother about washing it too much. His dark brown eyes stand out in his face, which is very pale through a combination of drug-taking and staying inside all the time. He's actually very good looking, but on days where his hair's greasy, his clothes are dirty and his eyes are wide and hazed over from drugs, he can look borderline scary. When he actually makes an effort, though, Joe is very nice looking. It's just that most days, he can't be bothered to make that effort.

ooc;; sorry for the length guys, got carried away :'] .

Alicia Jaime Witterick-Danes

Image

Name;;
Alicia Jaime Witterick-Danes

Age;;
Seventeen

Role;;
Punk

Personality;;
Alicia thinks life is just one big joke, and you can tell from the way she acts. She finds humour in any situation, and doesn't take anything seriously. She's a loud person who loves to be the centre of attention, hardly caring if the reasons are good or bad. She's blunt and honest, and since she never takes any insults towards herself seriously, expects others to do the same, often hurting the feelings of those who are more sensitive than she. She has a boyish mind, and is often hanging out with guys rather than girls. Alicia is bold and courageous, never one to turn down a dare. She's extremely stubborn and will go very far to prove a point. She is the kind of person who will continue to argue even when she's lost, and hates to admit defeat. She's got a bit of an inflated ego, and tends to think she's better then everyone else because she's different, and isn't a conformist. Alicia is constantly striving to be unique, not wanting to be like anyone else, despite the fact that she really is like any other teenage girl at the end of the day.

Bio;;
The middle of three children, with two brothers currently aged twenty-two and eleven, Alicia lives with her father and younger brother. Alicia's parents were divorced shortly after her younger brother, Danny's, birth. Her father was awarded custody of the children, since her mother had a business job that required her to travel a lot. In a household of all boys, Alicia didn't have anyone to play dress up or dolls with. Instead, she took part in the same activities that her siblings did, raised as if she were a boy. Alicia's father was extremely laid back, and she never had the stricter rules and curfews that most girls did. Her idol was older brother Virgil, who is currently away at school. He was always there for Alicia, and they were extremely close-- he was the one who introduced her to punk music. The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Generation X, The Ramones-- Virgil was the one who showed them all to her, and spawned her interest in punk music and style. He even taught her the basics of guitar, which eventually lead to Alicia pursuing bass guitar. After he left for school, Alicia continued to play and enjoy music, though now she became more of her own person, developing a musical taste that was more her own. She's certainly become more independant since her brother left, though she still misses him and eagerly awaits his visits over the holidays.

Appearance;;
Alicia stands at 5'2", weighing around 120 pounds, with a boyish build and virtually no bust. Her hair is naturally brown, but is currently dyed blonde, and cropped into a bob. She doesn't care about her appearance much, and her clothing is rarely flattering or stylish. She wears band t-shirts often, some of which are her brother's and are way too large for her small frame. Alicia likes baggy, oversized clothes, and chunky footwear and accessories. She doesn't usually wear any makeup apart from heavily lining her eyes with black khol liner.

Katrina Skylar Evans

Image

Name;;
Katrina Skylar Evans.

Age;;
Seventeen.

Role;;
Average.

Personality;;
Katrina is a sweet, easy-going girl. She doesn't really like to be in serious relationships and she's afraid of commitment, mainly because of how her parents ended up. She doesn't fall in love easily...anymore. From the years 15-16, she used to fall in love with guys like crazy and would have her heart broken many times. She has grown stronger since the end of her last relationship. She likes who she is. She's not super popular and beautiful, but not completely alone and isolated. She's what some call "average" and despite what people say, she likes being that way. She loves adventures and traveling and hopes that, when she gets out of school, to take a year or two break and travel the world. She is more close to her parents then anyone and hates keeping secrets from them. Only one she managed to keep hidden-and that's what happened a year ago. She is semi-shy, you'd have to approach her before she came up to you. The first time you meet her, Katrina doesn't talk much, but the more you get to know her, she'll open up some. She can be violent when it comes down to it, but that's rare. She's protective over her parents, little brother, and most of her friends.

Bio;;
Katrina Skylar Evans was born on November 19, 1992 to Marisol and Lupe Evans. Her mother is 100% Latin and her father is 50% American and 50% Asian. Four years of Katrina was born, on June 6, 1996, she welcomed her little brother, Marcus Devon Evans, to the family. The little four-year-old girl loved her infant brother and would ask if her parents needed help with him. While they were busy, she'd watch and play with him. Like most little brothers and little sisters, they fought some. But it'd be over small, stupid things and nothing major. The arguments would usually last 5-1 minutes, and then they'll be lovey dovey. At eleven, Katrina's little brother was diagonsed with diabetes. The small seven-year-old would cry every night, and on most Katrina would be in there, comforting him.

As the two got older, their parents began to fight more and more. Three months after Katrina's fifteenth birthday, and getting closer to Marcus' eleventh, their parents gave them horrible news. They were getting a divorce. Their mother ended up with full custody, and they were allowed to see their father every other day. When she was sixteen, Katrina met Anne and the two became friends. After turning seventeen, close to the welcoming of the new year for 2009, Anne invited Katrina to a New Year's Eve party, and of course she went. This was also the night that Katrina lost her friend-and woud have the secret haunting her forever. Her brother and parents suspected something wrong, but she just claimed it to be female things and boy issues.

Appearance;;
Katrina is a beautiful girl, standing at a height of 5"6 and weighing about 135 lbs. She has a slender figure with just the right sized curves-nothing too big or small. Her face is gentle and kind, a smile always pulled up at the corners of her mouth. Her eyes are a forest-green color, with rings of brown that you can see if you focus your own vision hard enough. Her hair's a deep chesnut brown color, it reaches past her shoulders and stops just a little above her breast. She doesn't wear make-up much, but when she does it's not all that heavy. Her style is usually simple and casual, nothing extreme and pricey.

Sorry to interupt your RP, Charlie & Laurenn, but just thought I'd point something about Little Miss Sin's profile.

youth-t30501.html

The first post of this has a profile of one of my characters. Look at it, and you'll notice that the wording is the exact same as portions of Little Miss Sin's. That's because she's blatantly ripped it off, and to be honest, I'm just going to ask; what the crap? Seriously? I spent forever making Erin, and trying to make her a realistic character. And it's pissing me off that she's just come and nicked her, as if it's nothing :/ so thanks for that Little Miss Sin, way to be unoriginal.

Sorry about interupting here, guys; just thought I'd put that in there. Also, Laurenn, I'm assuming you remember youth? So yeah. Just thought I'd point that out.
