Caleb woke in a haze of sleep. His eyes were cloudy and as he sat up in bed, he rubbed them hard. That time, the dream seemed even more real than the last time. He'd been having such vivid dreams ever since he was brought here. He turned, eying the empty space on the bed next to him with what seemed to be affection. "Jess, darling, time to get up," he prodded the firm mattress, but it didn't budge. To him, there was no void there, but the vision of his girlfriend, Jess. He had made her up in his mind long ago, and ever since, they had been inseparable. She woke and turned to him with a smile. Good morning, Caleb. Your nurse is coming. she said sweetly, throwing her legs over the edge of the bed.
Caleb got to his feet as his Nurse, Gina, waltzed in. "Mornin', kiddo," she said cheerily, opening the blinds on his window to reveal the blinding light of the morning. Caleb snorted. "What's so good about it, bitch?" he turned away from her, staring out the window through the cold steel bars. He never really had much respect for women, most of them just pissed him off. Gina ignored the comment, quite used to it by now, and sat on his bed next to Jess.
Get her away from me, my darling, I don't like her! Jess shrieked for only Caleb to hear. He turned and glared at the nurse. "You can't sit there. She doesn't like you," he muttered. Gina nodded, understanding, for she had been his nurse ever since he arrived here. She walked out silently and continued checking on the other teens, leaving Caleb alone, just staring out the window, wishing he could be out there.

That's all I have now, but now they're missing." - M.E
"Something more it is to find a hand to hold that'll never let go and whose grip never slips as it grows old with yours, nothing more. So if my heart was meant to break apart till it's not a heart at all, I only hope the next heart I hold is just as willing to fall." - M.E
