Manitou Springs, Colorado is a small town located just minutes from Colorado Springs, Colorado. It has a population of roughly 5,000 and has always been somewhat of a conservative town. The town was close knit and it was one of those towns that people never left. It was often the case that people would leave, whether it was for college or a career and then returned to find that they were judged and looked down upon. This follows a family go through many problems, with arguments, loves, losses and all that drama stuff! Just create a small character skelington and then you can RP!

Lexus sat in the kitchen with Alex as they were making cookies. The house was full of her music coming from the surround sound in the living room
"Okay now a cup of the chocolate chips." She sang tossing the bag to Alex.

Alewx let out a tiny giggle and started pouring the cookies into the mixing bowl.
"Yum!Yum!YUM!!!!!"

(loosley based on myself i am completely deaf in one ear and slightly in the other one, i was born early so taught myself to lip read and body language analysis, the strange thing is that i can actually speak perfectly which puzzled the doctors lol. i can sign so i supose i should be able to play this character well hehe.)

Bio: Ali is generally pleasant to be around, he doesn't speak mainly because he can't with out missing half off words and hardly sounding them at all. Ali was born slightly earlier than planned and his eardrums didn't really develop properly causing him to have limited hearing in both of his ears. Other than that he grew up relativley normal, he learnt sign language so that he could talk with the rest of the family as well as teaching himself to read lips and tell a person feelings by their sign language.

Ali's eyes opened slowly his hand lifting quickly to sheild his eyes from the sun, it wasn't really the sun that woke him up it was the pounding vibrations of Lexis's music he could feel it through his feet. Getting dressed he walked downstairs the vibrations actually hurting his head, sticking his fingers in his ears he walked into the living room and turned down the music walking into the kitchen he waved to his siblings as he pulled out a carton of orange juice and poured himself a glass. Clapping his hands to get both Alex's and Alexis's attention he pointed to the carton of juice and picked up and imaginary glass to his lips and pointed to them both his eyebrows raised. So in general he was asking if they wanted a glass before he put it away.

Bio: Hannah is a seventeen year old girl, she loves to read and write and is always seen either writing in her notebook or staring off into space. She is detatched. She is also highly intelligent, wise and very mature.

Hannah woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the faint breeze coming through her window. She rubbed her eyes and pulled back her blue blanket. She got ready then went downstairs waving to her siblings. Hannah did not talk much as she was used to not talking as she had a partially deaf brother. Yawning, she grabbed a bowl and filled it with some peach yogurt and sat down eating it while looking out the window.

While Ali awaited an answer from his siblings he saw Hannah walk into the kitchen, he could never really tune into Hannah as well as the others in his family. She was always so distant and hard to read, sort of like try to talk to a wall almost, Ali and Hannah were in the same engliash and maths class, Maths was fine because he could read what was on the board but english was Ali's worst subject he pretty much had to rely on Hannah to translate things for him when the teacher had to write something on the board. He waved at Hannah and signed to her

"Hannah how is school going? did you do the assingment that our english teacher set?"

He sat down opposite her from the table so he could either read her lips or sign to him clearer.

Hannah looked towards Ali and smiled at him. He was a nice brother, and lovely to be around. She often signed to him what was on the board in their English class. Hannah spoke and signed at the same time to help him learn things. "Yes, of course. Did you?" She finished up her yogurt but set it down beside her. She hated to get up while someone was signing to her. It was like plugging your ears while having a spoken conversation. Hannah was waiting for a response and thinking about the book she was currently on at the same time.

Ali both shrugged and shook his head at the same time, he didn't really like english to many complicated words and things to remember, which was hard to write down due to the order of english written words and how sign language looks written down. It was all in different orders and spelling.

"Not really, could you look at it for me please i'm not sure im doing it right?" He asked smilling at Hannah, Ali and her always got on well it was a shame that they wern't in more classes together.

(an example would be in english written it would be "Hello, What's your name" where as in sign language it's " Hello, your name what?")

Hannah could see his slight confusion with speaking and signing at the same time so she decided to stop for the future. She loved her english class and found it quite fun so her assignments were always well done.

"Sure, where is it?"

Ali smiled and signed quickly " It's in my bag ive been doing parts of it" he said as he walked out of the room and grabbed his school bag and walked back into the kitchen pulling out his notebook and turning to the page where he had written the assingment. Sitting next to Hannah so he could watch what she was doing, handing the assaingment over to her he watched carefully.

Hannah smiled and grabbed the notebook and started to read. When she was done she signed to him. "You need to watch your spelling and fluency. Also, try adding detail in these places." She pointed on the page. "Is that all you need?"

Ali nodded in understanding and looked over his messy handwritting. He smiled at Hannah and signed to her "Yeah that's everything, thanks a lot" he took the notepad off her and placed it back in his bag.He wasn't really sure what he wanted to do next, he could watch tv, go out into the garden, or perhaps play some video games for a while.

Bio: Troubled and growing worse with each day Jude’s parents didn’t have much of a choice but to move to Manitou, though they had been wanting for move for years now. They would have preferred Jude stayed in the same high school and finished but his attitude and growing pot habit wouldn’t allow it, two months into the school year he was kicked out after a bag of weed was found in his locker. He swears it wasn’t his and that it must have been planted there, though he will admit he smokes.

Jude stared out into the neighborhood from a window in his new room. He hated this place, the houses, the people, the smell… he hated it all. His parents thought it was funny to drag his out here, to try and teach him a lesson. But he would make sure he had the last laugh. “Maybe I’ll burn the place down.” He muttered to himself in annoyance, though he wasn’t really thinking of doing it.

Pulling into the drive way was a large U-Haul truck, Phil Asher driving while a buddy sat shotgun. Julia, Jude’s mom, was around somewhere, and a few others were on their way to help unload and organize. Wasting to time, Phil jumped out of the truck and opened the back. Inside was all their stuff, none of it broken. “Well we might as well get started John!” Phil shouted to his buddy that had ridden with him. Quickly the two began unloading the few large objects from the front and moved them inside into the living room. “Jude come help!” Phil shouted as he walked pass the stairs and out the door for another load.

“Do it yourself, old man!” He thought with defiance and began toward the stairs. He didn’t have a choice, one way or the other he was going to be forced to help. As he reached the bottom stair his father walked in the door and handed him his bed frame, telling him to take it up to his room. “I just got down here!” He thought with furry as he climbed back up the stairs with his bed.

Hannah smiled happy he helped him. She stretched her arms and yawned then took her empty bowl and put it in the sink ready for washing up later. Her room seemed most inviting at the moment so she ventured up the stairs and flopped onto her bed. Her bedroom had a blue theme to it, (as this was her favourite colour), her blue curtains, rug and bed spread. Her dresser and bed frame were a dark brown and her walls were a light peachy colour. She had a bookshelf in the corner which held her many favourites, all well taken care of and piled on top were a pile of notebooks with one by its side. Hannah smiled and grabbed her mechanical pencil and her current notebook and sat cross legged on the bed. She never dated each entry, they merely flowed into eachother without pause. They were choppy but it was a record of her thoughts and feelings after all. Hannah didn't like to sketch things except for diagrams, like bedroom ideas. Some of them never got completed. Her artistic ability for mundane objects wasn't all that great. She sat there writing about the morning.

A;o watched as Hannah left the room, he peaked through the blinds at the sight of new neighbours moving in across the street. Digging out his phone he sent a text to Hannah.

New neighbours across the street going to see what there like, if i need you to come and translate for me i'll give you a shout well not really lol.

He sent the text and walked into the hallway picking up his skateboard and leaving the house. Ridding down the sidewalk he slowed down and stepped off his board, looking for a person to try to talk to.

Hannah stopped writing and closed her notebook looking out the window when she felt her phone vibrate. She put her notebook and pencil back up on top of her oak bookcase and sat back on her bed. It was a text from Ali. She read it then texted back.

Yeah, sure. I won't be far.

She sat down wondering what she should do.

Jude quickly made his way back and forth several times from the truck, the living room filling up fast. It was boring work, but at least the day was nice. Handing a box down to his dad Jude spotted Ali riding up on his skateboard, a smile curling across his lips. “Look there.” Jude said to his father and pointed in Ali’s direction.

“Well hey there!” Phil friendlily shouted towards Ali. “Nice neighborhood you have here, very lovely!” Putting the box down Phil smiled to Jude and gave a nod towards Ali. “Your first potential friend.” He whispered with a chuckle.

“I don’t need new friends, I had perfectly good ones back in the city.” He mumbled under his breath as he hopped down from the truck and headed towards Ali. He might not have wanted to meet him that desperately, but it would at least get him away from his father. “Hey, I’m Jude.” He said as he neared Ali.

Ali gave a half wave as someone shouted over to him he couldn't really catch what he was saying since he was clearly shouting. But by his body language he looked friendly enough, the younger boy who approched him and introduced himself as Jude seemed like he didn't really want to talk to him but at least he wanted to talk. He waved again and gave a smile, grabbing his phone he quickly sent Hannah a text telling her to come and meet him so she could translate for him. Using his phone again he typed out a quick message and showing Jude.

Nice to meet you Jude, i'm Ali i would speak if i could but im deaf in both ears. My sister should be here soon to make it easier for you and me to talk.

Hannah felt her phone vibrate and read the text. She walked down the stairs and out the door sheilding her eyes momentarily from the sun. When she was used to the harsh light she saw Ali and a boy across the street. She smiled and waved and walked over towards Ali signing "Hello" to him. She pushed a lock of her wavy hair behind her left ear and smiled at the other boy.

Jude read the message one Ali's phone, shocked and slightly embarrassed. "Oh." Jude said with emphasis as he made sure say the world clearly. He personally never knew anyone who was deft but from tv and all the other stuff floating around on the web he figured Ali was able to read lips, besides Ali understood him well enough during his introduction. When the young girl, probably around his age, walked up towards them he guessed it was Ali's sister. With no idea what she had just signed he felt odd, but how much could a simple signing mean? It must have meant something around the lines of "hey" or some kind of greeting. "I'm Jude, and you are?" He cooly asked as he made eye contact.
