Fantasy Woods [IC] ( )

Postby Raeka on Fri Oct 17, 2008 5:29 am

You have entered the Fantasy Woods, where everything and anything can exist…

OOC: Fantasy Woods OOC
NO MORE SIGN-UPS! ALL SPACES ARE TAKEN!

+Beginning+
The stillness of the woods is unnerving. No wind, no leaves rustling, not a single whisper can be heard. The forest floor is covered with decomposing leaves, muffling your footsteps, furthering the silence. The track that you were following has long disappeared, you now wander around looking for some sort of indication that you aren’t going around in circles. It’s been hours, you have to be getting somewhere…

+Plot+
You arrive in Fantasy Woods, for whatever reasons you may have. Maybe you’re meeting someone, looking for something, or maybe just adventuring… Whatever the reason, the moment you enter the Woods, it just doesn’t feel right. You begin following your path, but after a while you realise… you are hopelessly lost. Will you find your way out again? And can you achieve your goal, the very reason you entered the Woods?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so it begins...! Join in any time, don't be shy! Although maybe try to space it out a little bit, it might be kinda weird and confusing if everyone met at the same time. I'll start off with my post, and you'll find out that my character Eiko is... kind of a loopy one. (and yeah, my post is long. But I like writing)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eiko trudged along the non-existent track, with a determined expression on face as if she knew what she was doing. Her right hand was extended in front of her, and floating mysteriously above her palm was a ghostly sphere of psychic energy. The little ball of light shed a sallow glow over the twisted trunks and branches of the many trees that had become rooted in the dark forest.

She held her head high, and pretended to know where she was going. In all honestly, Eiko was completely lost, and had been for the past four hours.

Beginning to space out from all the pointless walking, Eiko had unintentionally begun staring into the sparkling depths of her ball of energy in her hand. She wondered if she could drop the ball despite the fact that it floated a few centimetres above her outstretched fingers. Maybe if she dropped the ball, it would set the ground on fire and the whole forest would go up in flames.

Eiko giggled mischievously as she seriously considered doing it, but abruptly stopped dead in her tracks as the thought was completely washed out of her head, and replaced with spectral vision her mind's eye. She watched in ghostly forethought as she tripped over a protruding tree root.

Awaking from her psychic encounter, she looked down at her feet to see exactly the same root lying innocently right at her toe.

"HA!" she shouted triumphantly at the root, while pointing an accusing finger "You thought you could trip ME! But I'm a PSYCHIC! I seen it coming from a mile away!" Eiko then went into a minute long fit of lunatic cackling.

With a final manoeuvre of poking out her tongue, Eiko turned and began to walk in the adjacent direction. She took two steps, and her foot connected with a different tree root and she fell, face first, into the moss-covered ground.

"ARGH!" Eiko screeched in annoyance. "Prevent one thing from happening and ANOTHER event comes up!"

Eiko continued to rant about how useless her powers were, using some silly words, and also some, ahem, more mature and unpleasant words. She was yelling loud enough that ANYONE in the Woods would hear...

((hear that? ANYONE would hear her *hint hint* You have a start point... NOW WRITE!!))
Don't take life so seriously, your not gonna get out of it alive.

This is taking foever! There is no way I have walked this long and have seen nothing. *Azuriel stops in his tracks to observe the forest. As everything looks the same in every direction, he takes a kneel for a moments rest. Noticing the strangest of sights, Azuriel realises a pattern in the trees that go for quite a distance.* No Way!!! *Frantically Azuirel projects a high pressured stream of water straight ahead. In the next moment, he is violently hit in the back of the head, throwing him to the ground with an instant head ache. Azuriel jumps to his feet turning the opposite direction, only to noticenothing is in sight. Again he sends out another stream of water as he looks the opposing direction. Moving with purpose, the water stream has come from the other way. Dissapating the stream, Azuriels eyes widen in complete surprise.* This can't be happening! Not now.

*Taking a seat on the ground, Azuriel thinks back to when he was at the Ridenia Library. Remembering the book on the forest he was in, searching for the ruins of the great dragon God, Alexander, he easily gets lost in though for a few moments. A couple minutes pass by when Azuriel finally leaps to his feet, searching frantically on the ground for a flower.* Where are you damnit. Quit messing with my mind, I don't have time for this. *From the book, Azuriel recalls a whole chapter on a cerain flower within the woods. Some say this flower releases an odorless gas, which, if entering ones body, will cause them to hallucinate, or project an Illusion until the victim goes crazy and eventually dies. Others say the flower has a certain radius, which if entered, the victim is put in a dimension inside their heads, trapped for eternity. All say that when entered, to the outside world, the victims body is renedered unconscious, and that if the flower is destroyed, Everything will return to normal.*

I have to be able to see it! I can't die like this. *Azuriel runs around seemingly insane for search of the flower.*
Aerodynamically; The BumbleBee shouldn'y be able to fly. The Bumble Bee doesn't know that.

[Damon Ryke]

Long had passed this wandering. A battle had ensued between me and the other elemental Ying Yang spirit. My brother thought to fight with me would bring us some closure to this battle. At the winter's wake, he was alright. But in the autumn, he was but a duck unsure of how his fire would sustain in the whipping winds, or how his ice would survive the radiant still heat of the sun.

I searched the forest with my eyes, standing tall and powerful in my every long stretching step- avoiding every root and stone with inhuman grace. In a way, I had a connection with nature, just as my brother and father had. Even my sister, before she died and her power passed on. Autumn was her favorite season, for she was the Fall Maiden, or Lady Autumn. I had heard that the village in which we were brought to physical representation, had successfully incarnated Lady Autumn's power into another. But I had not once bore witness to this person, nor did I know if I'd care to.

A sigh escaped my cool lips as I stared out over the horizon- which was just scattered trees and extending limbs disippating into the distance.
"How much longer? Had I not traveled these woods til' weary eyes would settle to slumber? Why must you afflict me, brother, Kurin Ryke..."

----------------------------------------------------------

[Maple]

"Mmm..." I groaned... I could feel... again... I was... alive... but how?

Last I remember, I was tied against a tree by roots, having a fire burning up at my feet. A beautiful white and green fire lashing at my feet. Falling around me were maple leaves, as a tall man with blond hair falling in waves to his shoulders, named Kurin, sacrificed me.

And now here I am.
And I am not alone!

For I can hear the voices of the trees, moaning in curiosity, leering for me. It was almost frightening, what trees are these?
I stood, looking down to the tribal, or ceremonial, red attire for the old Fall Maiden. I remembered her as a beautiful tan woman with rich red hair falling in gentle waves. Kurin's sister, I believe.

It was a red shirt, without straps, tight against my chest with small embellishments dangling over my bare navel. At my low waist did the pants begin, red pants becoming loose on my lower legs. At my waist lay a belt of small stones of topaz and brown. Just as the embellishments! On my wrists were several bracelets made of the village's ritualistic root. Was I...

The new Fall Maiden?

But I couldn't even remember my name. Just that ritual, and those swirling maple leaves...

"Maple.." I whispered to myself, standing and beginning to walk through the forest, listening to the strange hums of the wind creating a melody with the trees' whispers...

Eiko finished off her shrieking rant with a final curse word and tiny fist slamming into the dirt. Satisfactorily calmed down, she pushed herself up from the ground and brushed some leaves and dust off from her clothes. Her dainty white skirt was now tarnished with brown and sickly green stains.

Sometime during her tirade her energy ball had been extinguished, and so Eiko found herself in an eerie darkness. She was about to summon up more power to create another light source, but was distracted when she saw a figure lying down in the dirt.

"Maybe the tree roots got him too?" Eiko thought.

Walking up to the figure, she discovered that it was a man. She looked curiously at his features. His hair looked blond almost silver, and he was garbed rather strangely too. His skin also seemed to glow faintly. She crouched down beside him, resting her knees on the ground.

She poked his cheek with her index finger.

"Heeeeeeyy, are you alive?" she asked in her squeaky, childish voice.

She got no reply from the man, but by looking at his chest she could see that he was still breathing, and rather heavily at that. Wondering what was wrong with him, Eiko placed a small hand on his forehead, which began to glow an electric blue. Shutting her eyes so there would be no distractions, she placed her undivided attention on sending her conscious into his mind.

With a feeling of elation, then what felt like someone had picked her up and thrown her into a deep pool of water, Eiko found herself within the psyche of the peculiar person. She was then almost immediately nearly knocked off her feet as a crazed man ran past her a top speed.

"What the...?!" Eiko cried out, surprised.

She watched him with a weird expression as he ran around the area of his mind. Suddenly snapping out of it, Eiko remember why she was here, and she began to feel around his head. Eiko felt some unease of his mental state, as if he was in some kind of illusion.

Eiko realised that the guy was trapped within his own mindscape.

"What a dimwit...." Eiko sighed. She then took a deep breath in, and screamed as loud as she could

"HEY YOU IDIOT!!!"

If that wouldn't get his attention, she didn't know what would.

*Searching the ground for nearly an hour, Azuriels search for the flower is turning out a complete failure. He continues running around, hoping that the flower would appear, and so far no sign. As he rushes to the eldest looking tree, Azuriels body suddenly feel weakened, as if something has run through him. He looks up into the sky, holding his hand over his chest, feeling like it's going to explode. In the next moment, the air and environment alike, begin to ripple around him. As if he were a pebble thrown into a huge body of water.* What was that just now?

*Something was naggin at the back of Azuriels mind as he looks around searching for anything out of the ordinary. Staring at the same thing he has been for the past few hours, Azuriel feels like someone is trying to reach him. He takes a seat onto the ground attempting to get in touch with his spirit.* How am I gonna enter my conscious when I'm already in it?

*Concentrating, Azuriel slightly begins to enter a meditation state, feeling that his mind is not alone, or at peace. The feeling of another presence forces Azuriel out of his own mind, bringing him back to the state he was in before. As his eyes grow wide with excitement, Azuriel begins talking as if another person was in front of him.* Is some one there? I can feel a presence hovering everywhere around me. I can feel the warmth. Please tell me some one is there. This is just stupid. No one would be way out here in these forests. I'll be stuck here forever; within my own mind.

I am free. Nothing else matters. She thought to herself as the fatigue finally kicked in with a vengeance. With every step she took her head spin. After two days and two nights of running, it was finally time to rest for a moment. She sat down. Her bridal gown was shredded, caked with mud, bloodstained on a few parts, and filthy. She was starving, exhausted, parched, dirty, and utterly lost, but all of it was worth not being the wife of Lord Duncan Fleming. Being twenty years of age, she was older than most girls her age to be married, but her father wanted to make certain than she would be given to the very highest bidder. Half of her life was spent being treated like a glittering object. One not meant to be earned by love or even affection, but to be sold off to whomever would pay the most. It was a life she grew accustomed quite quickly and even liked a few of her suitors, but Duncan Fleming could hardly be called a man.

Sure his appearance was handsome and his stature strong, but he had a vicious temper and a jealous heart. He had three wives in the past, all accused of adultery even though he kept them locked up in their room every evening and while he was out hunting. Valencia knew the stories. She knew their names. First there was Elizabeth Barstow who was born into a newly wealthy family due to her father becoming a war hero. He wanted her to live a life of absolute luxury and Lord Fleming offered that life. She never saw her family after the wedding and she was hung no more than four months after the wedding. Duncan swore he caught her with a manservant when her returned home from hunting that evening. Marie DeVas and Catherine Harding suffered similar fates however Catherine endured over a year.

She couldn't belive her ears on that fateful afternoon when her father opened her door and simply said "You are to marry his lordship, Duncan Fleming in three weeks. Prepare your things. I'll have you fitted for a dress tomorrow." He heard the same stories. She knew he didn't love her, but surely her own father wouldn't put her to death just so he could receive a higher bride wealth.

She told the seamstress to sew pockets inside her skirts because she wanted to give her husband gifts on their wedding night. Instead, the morning of the wedding, she packed them with a little gold, a flask of water, and some fruit and dry bread. She told her father she'd forgotten a gift for him in her room and ran as swiftly as she could to the stalls. She had paid the entire manor a heavy sum and given all the maids a portion of her jewelry save for her mother's pearls that now graced her neck. The stall keeper was ready sitting atop a strong, young mare. He rode her as far into the woods as he dared. She paid him a little extra and started running. She periodically changed directions and ofen got caught on a branch or tripped and fell.

Now she sat easily ripping off the long flowing sleeves of her god forsaken gown and struggling with the removal of the first layer of her skirt. She needed something to help start a fire. However, she was much too weak. Her arms gave way and dropped to her lap shaking. She finally decided to eat so she pulled out a pear from her cleverly created pockets and devoured it quickly. She laid on her back, unable to move on for the time being and she wasn't sure if she was fainting or falling asleep, but all she thought was I am free. I am safe.

[Damon]

I wandered for a while, and heard something rustling on the edge of his hearing. It almost sounded like tearing.

Riiipp

I turned left, staring into the woods to try and see the sound and its owner. Instead, I saw nothing. But, I was surely willing to find where it came from. My pace increased as I began racing over the exposed roots and under the tree limbs.

I didn't understand why I was so... Needy for some companion or some hope that I were not alone or delusional. Being a spirit, I can only draw up water and cause a storm, neither of which would help in this current situation.

Soon, I caught eye of something. My head tilted to the side, brushing a broad hand through this smooth mess of silky black hair. Something about this girl seemed stressed or weary. She looked... weak.

I moved forward, kneeling beside her, after having watched her try to tear the skirt.

Without being noticed, I let my broad hands meet her skirt, and in one strong tug, I ripped off the first layer.

"Sorry." I said, backing up, knowing the reaction of most from such. "You were struggling with it." I said then, simply in my rich baritone voice.

[Maple]

I found myself walking in circles. And almost, to some strange degree, could I hear the trees snickering like children. I turned my head up to the sky. It would soon be evening, no? Of course. The setting sun threw such colors into the sky. Of course, I remembered a sunset much like this... But... The memory was not my own. It was the Fall Maiden's. Was her memories now mine? How could I not be her, if I were carrying both her power and her past?

Was I different because I was a free will on my own?

That sounded about right.

In my careless staring into the sky, I walked into a tree. And by "walked into a tree", I mean that I literally walked into a tree.

Things were dark, and I could feel the tree's bark wrapping around my skin, taking me in, connecting into me. But as I was completely enveloped, I was lost into darkness...

As light penetrated the darkness, I was elsewhere, watching two people from the tree's perspective. As I leaned forward, my limbs stretched out as branches, before my skin returned and I was normal again.

I stepped out of the tree, and stared at the man, and small child.

"What is wrong with him?" I said softly, kneeling to the man and stroking his cheek.
Then he began to speak.

"Is he meditating? Such focus is strange, when stranded in the forest. For what is it, that you seek?" I whispered, withdrawing my hand.

Strange forest, with strange people.

Eiko pouted unhappily as the guy seemed to ignore her. She was about to give up and leave him to deal with his mind problem alone, but then the obvious realisation dawned upon her. Eiko slapped her forehead and groaned at her own stupidity. Of course he probably wouldn't be able to hear her, people's minds never obeyed the laws of logic and reason. Typical physical means of communication were probably about as useful as a toothpick during a war.

Eiko relaxed her pose, and began to reach out with her mind.

"Hellooooo...?!" Eiko called out as loud and clearly as possible with her psychic waves.

*With his mood changing rapidly, Azuriel speak within his mind, trying to connect with someone who has hacked into his head.* [i]Who are you? You know what, save formalities for later. I need you to find a flower somewhere around my body. Or within the area close by. That flower must be burned in order for me to get out of here. I will be in your debt more than you know[\i]

"Flower? What was this guy on about? Well he said he needed it to wake up, so I guess I should find it... But I could try to yank him out of his own head, but that that could cause psychological damage... Whatever. I'll try and find the flower" Eiko reasoned with herself.

Sending out another thought wave, she answers the man's request "I'll try to find that flower... thingy you wanted. I dunno how long it will take... just stay here. Well you can't move anyway but you get the point" Eiko then relaxed her conscious and gently removed herself from his mind.

Opening her eyes in reality, Eiko noticed there was a women sitting beside the man. She must have got here when Eiko was inside his head.

Looking her up and down, Eiko noted the beautiful red garments she was wearing. She definitely looked like someone of importance. Generally people like that were treated with respect, but Eiko was never one for formalities.

"Hey, Hey Lady! Can you help me find a flower 'round here? Apparently it's near this guy" Eiko said motioning towards the unconscious man. "He might wake up if we get it... I think. Or that's what he says anyway"

Eiko got to her feet, wobbling slightly after being in a meditative state for a while. Putting her head down, she began to walk around in circles searching for this aforementioned flower.
