Wolf looked back, seeing Jade slow down, then stop. He shook his head, then slowed down, turn on his heel, and zoomed back towards them. He closed his fists in frustration, wondering to himself

"I really need to quit being shy around women, especially one I like."

He halted about ten yards from Jade, then just watched her as she was catching her breath. Wolf walked towards her, then said:

"...rest, Jade."

Jade huffed slightly, easing to the forest floor and running one burnt hand over her face. She might have asked him if he had any idea how tiring it was, using a God Sword...but she was fairly certain she knew what the answer would be.
"Why do you always run?" She asked, voice laced with coolness. "It don't make any sense. You say you wanna protect somethin', then take off. Not that I'm in need of your protection, accourse, but it just strikes me as a bit counter productive." She added this last part, just in case, then glanced back over in the direction she had run off on poor Gwen. She felt a pang of guilt as she realized that her friend had appeared from nowhere only to be ignored...but for the moment, she kept her attention on Wolf, serving him with another characteristic glare.
"You really think you're only welcome if you're protectin' something?"

Gwen watched as the man bolted. Jade took off after him.
"Renmith."
"I know." Renmith padded off after them. Gwen, sitting astride him, kept her eyes glued on Jade. Jade had stopped, clutching the tree next to her. Don't overdo it, Jade. You're exhausted enough as it is. She was about to go over to her and offer some help, but the man came back. He's just begging for her attention. Gwen couldn't help but chuckle. The man's soft spot for Jade was becoming more evident with every minute. She found it rather admirable. She remembered that Jade rarely had any fancies for men, and visa versa. Jade had always been a bit gruff, plus the fact that she always passed herself off as a man never helped either.
"You know wolfie, why don't you stop trying to play the poor-unfortunate soul and be more manly. You might find yourself with good results. However, that doesn't change the fact that I'm going to give you as much grief along the way as possible," she said under her breath.

Wolf watched Jade for a moment, taking in the question before solemnly replying:

"Yes, it is my duty to protect the lives of those on this plane of existence. I have very little left, so I took up that vow a long time ago. That is why I'm but fleeting and aloof. You are the first in my trials that I care about, which is why I've stayed longer than I anticipated."

He looked to the sky, watching the clouds roll along, and smiled.

Enzeru appeared next to Gwen, "This Wolf is a bothersome thing." He stretched, a look of bordum edging across his face.
