Gwen had gone, accompanied by Mar, Zul'saka, and, of course, Renmith. This left Jade with Wolf and Lars. And Xuphratacus. But he was silent and, in Jade's opinion, rather dull. He also lacked the odd glitter that seemed to accompany the Gods' heroes....a silent watcher, nothing more.
"Very well. Let's see about this carriage." She started off in a direction different enough from Gwen's that it seemed likely they would find something of interest. A good deal of walking, many leaves kicked over and trees woven around, and it appeared that they were going to find nothing but more forest. Just as Jade was preparing to kick something and turn around, however, her eyes caught a faint glimmer. Almost unnoticeable, but it was a glimmer, and her deep love for all things of a shiny nature had taught her never to under appreciate even the tiniest of glimmers. Without a word to her companions, she took several wide strides forward, pushing away limbs of trees and bits of moss until there, in a small, humble clearing, stood a carriage. And quite the carriage it was. Made of what appeared to be fine gold, glimmering in the dim light, with tall, sturdy wheels. Every bit and piece was lovingly crafted into an almost fragile looking device, looking quite small from the outside. But looking through the small windows, one could clearly see that there was plenty of room for passengers to be seated inside. The cushions appeared soft and inviting, just the thing for a long journey. Resting inside was a small silvery box, likely full of more helpful gifts from the Siblings. The driver's seat had room for two, and fine golden reigns that almost seemed to glow.
At the helm of the carriage were four remarkable beasts, horses that appeared to be made of nothing but youthful, ready muscle, with manes that nearly shone in the dark and bright, eager eyes. The creatures made no move or sound, simply watching the small group that had finally found them. On each beast's reign was a small symbol...
On one, a raven, clutching a broken stick. Hotay's mark. On the second, a fiery phoenix, resting on an egg. Relna's mark. The third sported a dove, with an olive branch in its beak. Myra. The fourth featured a hawk, carrying and ax in its claws. Zaeken.
Jade strode forward, against her better judgement, and pressed a hand almost reverently to the side of the fine vehicle. It was smooth, sturdy. A grin lit upon her face. She made her way over to inspect the horses...and to her great surprise, they did not startle in her presence as horses generally did. The diluted dragon in her simply never seemed to agree with the animals. But these were calm, and even pressed their noses out for her to touch.
Of course, to any whose eyes had not been opened by the Gods, the carriage would have looked far less than impressive. Pulled by four bony nags, with sunken eyes and badly unkempt mans. A thing of splintery and rotting wood, miraculously held together by rusty nails and frayed ropes.
With a slight chuckle, the cloaked woman tossed her belongings under the carriage into the baggage hold, and clambered up into the driver's seat. "Let's go find the others."
And with a flick of the reigns, the God-given cart rumbled off towards the other half of the group.
