Favorite Anime Movie? ( )

Postby Shadows Fall on Mon Dec 28, 2009 3:45 am

What's your favorite anime movie and why?

Mine would have to be the Karas movies. They're just so new and inventive, not following along the generic anime idea, and have a solid (yet not readily understood) storyline. It's also dark and just so gory that it's awesome.
It's a superhero movie with swords and demons. Superman ain't got shit on this hero, in my opinion.
I just love it's story, and sidestory: while Karas goes on fighting the demons and while the demons go about killing unsuspecting humans, the Shinjuku PD is investigating these supernatural murders, and it shows how other people are affected by the doings of the demons.

Karas: The Prophecy is the first movie, and The Revelation is the second.
I like Revelation better, because it clears a lot up and is easier to understand. Plus there's a scene in that movie that is too awesome for words.
So yeah, that's my favorite anime movie......what about you?

To me, it's the Baki the Grappler movie. It inspired the American anime of Baki the Grappler, which is my second favorite anime of all time. I've only seen about five minutes of the movie online, but it's connection to the anime series is well-seen to hardcore fans, and it just really does a great job of taking the fighting anime formula to new heights.

traitors to anime
Akira, the original 1980s one. That movie was so epic and badass i've been using Kaneda and Tetsuo as character nicknames ever since i saw it. If you exist as someone who likes anime, you will at least know this title.

so yeah, deffinitely Akira
We are who we are, not who we are meant to be, and anyone who says otherwise deserves what they get...which in my case would be a whole lot of freaking lead.

I like Ninja Scroll. Its probably the first anime movie I've ever watched and after that Highlander: Search for Vengeance is great too.

Karas confused the hell out of me, but I still enjoyed watching it. Akira was great too. But, as of now my favourite would have to be Highlander. I loved it.

I love all of Hayao Miyazaki's movies (especially Princess Mononoke), as well as just Ghibli movies in general (except for Howl's Moving Castle... I liked the book better >_>), but none of them could be considered my favorite.

lol, AlWayZFrE3, Akira is definitely my favorite anime movie out of them ALL! You're totally right.
Though I grew up with the Vampire Hunter D movies, so they're pretty close to my top fav (particularly Bloodlust).

But... my guilty pleasure for 4th fav movie would have to be Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo, or rather The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. ^^ Hehe.

EDIT: pluuuus, there's gonna be a GINTAMA movie coming out soon... >_> <_< and hopefully this list will be altered >=D

Inuyasha: Affections Touching Across Time(woot! fight scenes!), Princess Mononoke(moral/theme), Spirited Away(plot), and Howl's Moving Castle(plot) are cool in my opinion.

Hmm... Well, as far as movies are concerned, I think it would have to be... Hmm, actually, that's a tough one, Howl's Moving Castle, I thought, was excellent as were Spirited Away and Ghost in the Shell. My Neighbor Totoro and The Cat Returns had their moments, too, and I'm tempted to mention Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie sheerly for the sake of how hilariously poor it was. The Naruto movies are... Watchable, I suppose, though increasingly predictable. Of course, none of this really answers the question, does it? Oh, who am I kidding? It's got to be Spirited Away, though bits of it rely somewhat on deus ex machina, its overall weirdness and engrossing stroyline puts it head and shoulders above the majority of films, anime or otherwise.

Damn, everyone's taken all my answers. Akira is probably my favorite because it was the only movie that made me trip balls trying to figure out what was going on at the end. When I rewatched it I got the plot waaaaaayyy better and came out a smarter person because of it... I think...

The first anime movie I ever watched was Porco Rosso. Back when SBS was still cool it had Neon Genesis, Slayers and stuff like that on it, unlike now days were all you get are 24 hour Croatian news updates. Croatian news sucks.

Dare I continue on the tangent of Studio Ghibli? Yes, yes I do.

I've seen a lot of Ghibli and/or Miyazaki but out of them all I've considered Whisper of the Heart the best since I first saw the credits roll. The storyline is simplistic but at the same time, it has depth not to mention it's a cute story. Don't get me wrong, Spirited Away and all the rest of the Ghibli and Miyazaki films were great but Whisper of the Heart stands as my all-time favorite.
Forlorn! the very word is like a bell
To toil me back from thee to my sole self!
Adieu! the fancy cannot cheat so well
As she is fam’d to do, deceiving elf.
Adieu! adieu! thy plaintive anthem fades
Past the near meadows, over the still stream,
Up the hill-side; and now ’tis buried deep
In the next valley-glades:
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?
Fled is that music — Do I wake or sleep?

Hands down, the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, Conquer of Shambala. The drama was excellent, the plot moved more smoothly than even parts of the anime series did. I think this was thanks to a lack of fillers, really. I didn't see it until recently, which is sad considering how much I loved the anime. No spoilers from me, of course, but if you haven't seen it yet, I would really recommend that one. If that isn't your cup of tea, give Howl's Moving Castle a try. It's a lovely romance story.

I'm kind of surprised no one said End of Evangelion. That movie is extremely depressing, but nevertheless awesome.

The Vampire Hunter D movies. I was told I was about as lively and warm as D. Which to me, was quite the compliment. :) Anyways, I think D is the only bad ass who doesn't gloat. Besides, watching him tear people apart was just uber appealing. By the by, I ate BBQ Chicken during the movie. My wife thought I was gross.

Wing takes one step, his image seeming to fade in the breeze before his foot hits the ground. Suddenly, he reappears in the same manner, his molecules converging at a focal point directly behind his opponent. Wing uses the same technique to reform the Soul Zetasabre inside of his opponents throat.> Death, COMING THROUGH!
