"Grab 'em!" came the signal. Wonderful, that meant there were more somewhere nearby. Trent ran along the streets, being chased by police. He wasn't a criminal, and did they really need 6 cops to get a kid who snatched a sandwich? The justice system never seemed to be fair. Trent always heard about people getting way with worse crimes. Steal a sandwich and Trent may as well be on America's Most Wanted. Life really sucked sometimes. Trent had been on the streets since... since... well he didn't know, on account of his lack of ever learning much math. He was never able to go to school, which means he couldn't get a job, which meant he had to steal his next meal every day. Because of this, he had to learn early on how to hide until the cops lost interest. After all, a sandwich or candy bar wasn't exactly much to care about.
He was having a little trouble this time around, though, maybe he was getting too predictable? Trent would have to work on that. But for now, he tried getting lost in the crowds. Finding a kid like Trent in a crowd of pedestrians may as well be a quest for the Holy Grail, cause it worked most of the time. This time was no different, "Phew... the things a guy's gotta go through to eat..." he said to himself, now sitting in ally after ducking out of the crowd. He smiled, taking a bite. He hated tuna, but it was either that or dumpster diving. Before he could eat another bite, he saw movement in a nearby trash can. Was a stray dog or cat? Trent got up and walked over toward the shaking can, something was hiding behind it, "Here, kitty, kitty..." said Trent, thinking it might of been a cat. When nothing changed, he whistled and said, "C'mere boy!" maybe it was a dog? Still, no response.
"Whatever you, are come on--" he said, moving the can and then screamed, "Aaaaaah!" as he saw some kind of red reptile.
"Aaaaaah!" it screamed back."G-go away! Shoo!" said Trent, waving his hand at it.
"You go away! I was here first!" it responded.Trent could have died of a heart attack right now, "Y-y-you talk!" he said, quite shocked that the weird reptile could speak.
"Well duh! Doesn't everybody?" it responded, curtly."N-not animals..." stammered Trent, a little calmer.
"Animal? Why I oughta..." it said, offended, but stopped when it noticed how afraid of it Trent was, "Will you calm down? I'd rather you not pee yourself.""Oh... uh... sorry... what are you?" asked Trent, trying to stay normal. He decided this was either an illusion or he was going insane. Either way, he may as well not find out the hard way if it was real.
"Hello? I'm a red dragon, of course! You can call me Spark." said the dragon named Spark.Okay, so he was talking to a hallucination named Spark, "I'm Trent..." he said, kinda timidly.
"Trent? Please tell me your joking..." said Spark."No. Why?"
"You're the one I came for." said Spark, and without warning wisked away Trent to another place, "Welcome to the World of the Fuzors. No, we aren't just a fairy tale, we became real over time, blah blah blah, etc." said Spark, lazily, "You've been chosen to fuse with me and master the element of fire."Of course, Trent wasn't paying much attention, for he was too busy panicking, "Ah! What? Where? What the? What did you do?" he asked, fearfully looking around.
"Will you just relax? Haven't you heard of Fuzors? You know the whole, creatures come, choose children and fuse with them business?" asked Spark, now confused. In truth, Trent had never heard the fairy tale before. He lived life on the streets and had no parents to tell him the story, "No! What kind of Fairy Tale is that?"
"The bottom line is, you and me are partners now, forever, more or less. So just trust me and you'll learn everything you need."Two Months Later
"Ok, you're done. You should be able to control fire whenever you need to. Remember what I said about using blue fire, now. That stuff is EXTREMELY hot and if you screw up it could really hurt us both, so be careful with it.""Right. Got'cha." said Trent. This whole thing was still unreal, but he was no longer afraid of everything that moved, and he and Spark had become good friends, so he was sure he could always rely on Spark. "So what now?"
"There's an evil Fuzor out there somewhere. We need to find him." answered Spark.Trent nodded. Were they really strong enough to make it? He hoped so.
