Don't forget to record the results of your fights in the Hall of Records! With enough prestige, you could win a spot on the top 10 list or even be invited to the Grand Tournament, which only takes place once every two years.

Story

A single man decided to host an open tournament for all fighters that wished to compete for the title of Gaia's greatest fighter--the greatest fighter in the omniverse, across worlds, galaxies, timelines, the multiverse, realms, realities, and planes--using his own wealth, materials, connections, and abilities to construct a stadium for the event. Welcome.

What Is This?

The GTB is an ongoing single-man tournament that has lasted for five years now. Hosted annually, a total of 32 participants come together and pit their characters against one another for a reasonable monetary pot and for the title of the GTB champion. Each round, combatants fight one another in a variety of arenas, eliminating each other one by one until there is one left standing. All fights are judged based on a combination of your roleplaying skill and combat prowess. The more you have of both, the greater your chances at winning.

Bump to dispel a few myths.

This tournament is not only one of the longest-running competitive events out there (the Grand Tournament is only in the middle of its third iteration), it's also one of the biggest. Rumors to the contrary aside, the competition in Gaia's tournaments is actually extremely fierce, and the focus is on melee skill and technique. Needless to say, this event is not for the faint of heart.

Yes, you need to sign up for the forums there, but the social-network aspect of the site is a fairly small price to pay for the opportunity to test yourself against, and learn from, some of the best fighters you've never heard of.

If you think you've got the chops, I suggest you take a crack at this event!
How long will he keep on fighting? How long will his pain last? Maybe only the X-Buster on his hand knows for sure...

Doesn't Tenkaichi mean Heaven and Hell?

Didn't Heaven or Hell already happen?

If not, then is this tournament UM or RM?

I have no idea what Tenkaichi means. However, Heaven or Hell is a team-based tournament; the GTB is one on one. Heaven or Hell has already happened, yes.

That being said, a few things worth pointing out.

Firstly, is that Vintrict (SilentMusician) has more or less ran the GTB into the ground. I advise heavily against joining the GTB. Vintrict isn't a bad guy, but he's also not terribly good at running tournaments, and he more or less ruined the GTB and drove off all the "fierce competition" that QB is touting in his above post. That's why he's recruiting from this site in the first place; because he lost so many from the usual community. Even if the tournament runs, it's only going to be a shadow of its former self. He's had to cut the tournament in half - originally, it was a 32-man competition. It is now a sixteen man competition. There's a reason for that, and it's called bad management. Even the staff Vintrict had originally gathered stepped down from their positions.

I'm not saying all this to try and murk Vin, but because I don't want off-site roleplayers (that is to say, you guys and others) joining this tournament, having a potentially bad experience, and then thinking that all tournaments on Gaia are like that. Because it isn't the case. In this situation, one bad apple does not spoil the whole barrel.

If you want to join a solid tournament on Gaia, another had cropped up to replace the GTB as being the "big" one on one tournament of Gaia.

Heh. I guess I should think twice before running my mouth. It's just that I got thrashed pretty hard in HoH 2010. ^^;

Well, it's not like you're active in the community we have on Gaia; so I know you weren't aware of what happened with the GTB.

Which was why I pointed it out, so you guys would know what's up. A probable majority of the competition you usually see in the GTB or HoH has moved to The Aekea Open after the GTB more or less committed suicide and lost practically all support from the playerbase.

RolePlayGateway is a site built by a couple roleplayers who wanted to give a little something back to the roleplay community. The site has no intention of earning any profit, and is paid for out of their own pockets.

If you appreciate what they do, feel free to donate your spare change to help feed them on the weekends. After selecting the amount you want to donate from the menu, you can continue by clicking on PayPal logo.
