Goodbye Life!
the ooc: goodbye-life-ooc-t35140.html

What a beautiful day for a funeral, Thomas thought as he gazed across the bright green lawn towards the caskets that lay a few yards away from him. They were seperated by rows of white chairs that were perfectly lined up and filled by the large number of mourners. Thomas sat in the middle with his hands tucked into the pockets of his black suit jacket. He was lucky that there was a light breeze that moved the normally hot July air, or else he would have been sweating.

His hazel eyes scanned the rows of people that sat in front of him before they flickered towards the man who was speaking. Thomas didn't know him. The only two people that he knew here were Mr. Weston's two daughters. A third one would be arriving soon, or for all Thomas knew, she could have been there already. He had never met Mr. Weston's oldest daughter but he had spoken to her on the phone and they had arranged to meet at the funeral so that after it was over, Alexis would leave with her two half-sisters.

Thomas ran his hand through his golden hair and sighed in relief when he noticed that the rows of people in front of him were standing and walking towards the caskets to drop their roses on them. As it was his row's turn, he slipped out of the line and walked away from the funeral. He wasn't trying to be rude, but he only did buisness with Mr. Weston and didn't believe that his rose would represnt anything. Besides, he now had to look for Alexis and keep track of Mr. Weston's other two daughters until he found her

It was a dark day for young Aimee Weston, even if it was bright and warm in the hot month of July. For the first time in a while tears stained Aimee's face and made her makeup up. She wiped away tears on the back of her hands, trying her best to regain her composure and be the strong one for her little sister. She sat in the front row, watery eyes set on the two caskets before her. Her parents lifeless bodies occupied them, the realization was slowly setting in. Aimee was still struggling to accept the fact that her parents were no longer with her. Until the day of the funeral Aimee just kept herself busy and pushed the sad truth to the back of her mind, but now she was forced to face the truth head on.

Aimee was barely paying attention to the man that was speaking at the moment, she was too wrapped up in her own thoughts. Things like leaving the life she knew so well behind and starting over with her other sister Alexis. She was still slightly opposed to the idea but there wasn't much she could do about it. One of her fathers wishes was for Aimee and her sister to be with their older sibling, so instead of fighting it, Aimee just accepted it and hoped for the best. 'It might not be so bad, it's better than being shipped off somewhere else with people I hardly know.' Aimee snapped back out of her thoughts as people started to get up and place roses on the caskets. Standing up herself, Aimee smoothed out the creases in her dress and walked up to the caskets and paused for a second.

She placed a hand on her father's casket speaking in a voice that was barely audible. "I'll miss you but I know you and mom are in a better place somewhere. Take care." Placing a rose on both of the caskets she walked off to the side of the chairs, wiping her eyes again. She inhaled deeply and let out a long sigh. They were really gone and Aimee was going to be leaving everything to start back over with her sister. No matter how much she didn't like the idea she was already packed and ready to leave, hoping she would atleast be able to shake off her depression and return back to a somewhat normal state of mind.

Several unopened birthday gifts lay at Marla's feet as she sat on the window seat. They had been a year old at the most. It was a strange habit for her to keep presents for a year and then open them the next, so she knew she had more presents to open. She curled up in her place, putting her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them for comfort. The sun streamed through the window as she leaned her head on the window frame. She was happy, of course. Who wouldn't be happy on a day like this one? A hot and sunny July day? But then she had all the reason to be sad. Or she felt like she had all the reason to. Her good friend's father and stepmother had died in a car accident some time ago and today was the day of the funeral. She couldn't go, no. She hated funerals and all the 'negative presence' she felt around people when she did attend. And though she did want to attend this one to console her friend (though she had no knowledge of Alexis and her father's strained relationship), she still could not bring herself to look somber. It was unlike her. She wanted to be as happy as possible. Yes. Positivity was her energy. She practically fed off it. She reached out and grabbed a bright red cup of cappuccino from a nearby coffee table and set it back down, feeling the warmth wash down with a smile on her face. She flipped open her orange damask-patterned clamshell phone and decided to just send Alexis a text message.

Lexi, are you okay? I can come over if you want. If you want I can take you out as well? You know? Girls night out? Bah, I'm so bad at trying to console people. I'm so sorry about your dad and your stepmom. Reply if you can.
- Marla

She got out of her curled up position to answer the door, as someone had been ringing the doorbell at the same moment she put her fingers to the keypad. She groaned as she stood up and dusted herself off. When she opened the door, she found that it was Damian.
"That was unexpected." Marla said with a little smile. Damian's face turned from a grinning one to a worried one and he took her in his arm, going inside.
"Marla? Something wrong, babe?" he asked worriedly, looking her in the eye.
"No, it's nothing really. It's a friend's problem."
He nodded in understanding and sat next to her by the window seat. He understood her empathy for other people's emotions, particularly the negative ones. He didn't understand why she liked to empathize with others the first time he met her, and even thought she was a lesbian when she'd empathized with her female friends, but then someone explained to him that she was always like that to everyone, even men. "Who is it?"
"Alexis."
Damian didn't speak for a moment.
"You've heard of the car crash?"
"Yeah. Bad one, I heard."
"And she told me that she's taking custody of her younger sisters. Two of them. And a boyfriend? And living alone?"
Hearing the sadness in her voice, Damian bit his lip and held her closer to him. "That's tough." he said somberly.
"I know... I want to help. I'm going there when the funeral's over."
"I'll come too, if you want."
"Alright, just let me change clothes."

Aylin hadn't heard one word that had been said during the funeral. Her blue eyes were fixed on the the black flats that held her feet, and she didn't bother looking up as a man began to speak at the podium. She knew that he was just going to act like he knew her parents and loved them so much. Honestly, Aylin knew that half of the people here were disliked by her high-class parents or spoken about behind their backs. Barely any of them knew her parents like she and Aimee did, and it bothered Aylin to see all of the random people crying as if their parents had made such a big impact on their lives.

Once she heard people fidgeting, Aylin glanced up to see that everyone was moving towards the two caskets to say their final words and leave the roses. Sliding the two roses into her hands, she followed behind Aimee towards the caskets before throwing them towards them and walking away. Aylin had nothing to say. She didn't want to look at the caskets. She didn't want to think about them. She didn't want to have to face the facts that her parents were dead. Gone.

In her mind she told herself that they weren't gone, and that was why no tears left her crystal-blue eyes. In her mind, they were still alive and she wasn't going to change that just yet. Returning to her seat, Aylin stole a glance of Aimee and she quickly noticed that her sister had been crying. It wasn't often for Aimee to cry and even at an occasion like this, Aylin was surprised. She didn't have anything to say about it though, because again, in her mind Mr. and Mrs. Weston were not dead. So, she brushed her golden hair behind her ears and picked up her black Gucci clutch before scanning the area for Thomas, their father's attorney.

"There's Thomas," she said, her eyes darting towards her sister as she pointed past the crowd of people who were leaving. A yonug man stood, peering into the crowd and clearly looking for someone, most likely their oldest sister. Aylin wasn't sure what to do, so she waited to see Aimee's reaction to the funeral ending, and decided that she would just follow her.

Alexis wiped some newcoming tears from her eyes. She was sitting in her small dark blue Buick car dressed in a black dress with thin sleeves; a short white silky jacket hung off her shoulders. She had her dark brunette hair curled and falling over her shoulder. Right now, Lexi was sitting in her car, which was parked behind tons of others at her dad and stepmom's funeral. Although she never knew her stepmother and she wasn't too close to her dad, she still knew she was going to miss them both. Only a couple of years ago she had lost her mother. Now she lost her father, too.

Lexi decided it was time to get out, and meet Thomas, her father's attorney. She straightened her dress out and buttoned up her jacket before reaching into her Buick and grabbing her purse, keys, and black Droid. She then walked over to Thomas, telling herself not to cry. This was the day she'd be signing papers to get full custody over her two younger stepsisters. At first, when she was asked, she was going to say no. But something inside her told her to change her mind, and she did.

"Hey, Thomas." Lexi said as she reached him, a forced smiled crossed her face. She strained hard to keep it on there. The young woman felt her Droid vibrating. "I'm sorry, just a minute." She said softly, scanning through the message her best friend, Maria, sent her. Quickly, she typed back a brief message and turned her attention back to Thomas. "Now what?" She asked, shrugging her shoulders up and down lightly.

I can't right now. I'm signing some papers. I'll see about tomorrow. -Lexi

For Aimee the hardest part was over. She accepted her parents were really gone, though it still hurt to think about and left a lump in her thoat, Aimee would atleast be able to focus on moving on. She knew it was going to take some time to adjust to the absence and change of scenery, but once her parents were buried it felt like Aimee had made it through one of the hardest parts. Now she had to figure out a way to adapt to the new life that was waiting for her. She wasn't really worried about what life would be like, living with the sister she was detached from, there was just a bitter feeling that tugged at her heart when Aimee thought about leaving the place she had called home for so many years. 'It might be fun though and atleast we get to live with someone we're related to.'

Aimee swept some hair out of her still slightly watery eyes and tucked it behind her right ear as she watched people turn away from the caskets and leave. To be honest she didn't know that many of them and figured most of them were just people who had at some point worked with her parents. Thankfully they didn't all crowd Aimee and her sister and suffocate them with questions about how they felt and if they were going to be okay, that was something Aimee was dreading and she was glad they had chosen to ignore the children to some extent and go about their way.

After a few more people had cleared out Aimee looked around and spotted her younger sister Aylin, who was pointing at Thomas, the man who took care of their father's legal affairs. She offered Aylin a smile and walked up to her. "We should get going, we're probably leaving soon." Aimee spoke in a voice that was low and she couldn't help but yawn, sleep hadn't been easy to catch the past few nights and it wasn't until now Aimee realized how exhausted she was.

Starting to walk towards Thomas she saw a female with curled brown hair, Alexis she had guessed, standing by him. Taking in another deep breath she approached the two and smiled again, knowing it was a weak one. She didn't really feel like smiling at the moment but didn't want to be rude. "Hello." She said simply, ready to get wherever she was going so she could catch up on rest. Idly Aimee reminded herself to look into finding another ballet studio once she and her sister were settled into their new home; she had left her other studio shortly after her parents passed but didn't want to completely give up the art.

Marla tied her hair into a ponytail before heading into her room. She often did this when she was going to choose outfits, because she always felt warmer than usual when she was just having a hard time choosing. She was busy shuffling through her closet, filled with so many different outfits that she'd gotten shopping around different places before finally grabbing an outfit that struck her fancy after some very careful selection. She thought the gray suited the occasion very well, as she was going to visit a mourning person. At the same time she set her clothes on her bed, she received a new text message. She picked her Blackberry up and immediately read it.

I can't right now. I'm signing some papers. I'll see about tomorrow. -Lexi

She sighed and sauntered over to where Damian was, seated on the couch looking in her direction, and she leaned her head against his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around her and looked at her with the same worried look. Marla wasn't always this troubled. Except when she ran out of peanut butter or Nutella. Not having Nutella or peanut butter in her refrigerator meant she had to actually sprint to the nearby convenience store to get some. Even if it meant being 10 minutes late for work or going there in a negligee.
"She's got papers to sign. Probably the custody papers." she sighed and looked at Damian. "Dame, I'm so worried about her."
"I know you are." he said. "But you've gotta give her some space, babe. She's still in the mourning process. I think it isn't the time to go and console her just yet. When she's let loose, then I think that's the time you can approach her."
Marla sighed and reached over to touch his face.
"I guess you're right." she sighed.

Thomas relaxed once he spotted the girl who he recognized as Alexis. He had never met her before but had recieved a photograph of her a few days earlier so that he would be able to find her at this moment. She obviously knew who he was too because she approached him and greeted him by his first name. He returned the smile and shook her hand quickly.

"Hey, Alexis, thanks for coming. I know this means a lot to your sisters and clearly your father as well since it is his wish. The funeral has just ended and now we just need to find Aimee and Aylin." He glanced at the exiting crowd before picking out two young girls. "Oh, here they are," he said as he turned his attention back towards Alexis and nodded towards the approaching girls. He offered a smile of condolence before fishing through the pocket of his suit jacket and pulling out a small note which read an address.

"Here," he said, giving the paper to Alexis, "that's where you three need to go now. It's right across the road; only two or three minutes away. They'll have the papers that you need to sign which grants you total custody of your sisters and your father's financial assets. Most of the possessions were quickly auctioned off, so that money will also be included. After that, the day is all your's." Thomas slipped his hand back into his pocket and pulled it out, revealing his Blackberry. He glanced down and scanned a message before sighing and shoving it back into his pocket. "I'm sorry but it looks like I need to get back to the office. My part of the papers are already done so you don't need me. Thanks again, Alexis, and good luck. Call me if you need anything." After slipping a buisness card into Alexis' hand, he walked to the parking lot.
