Everyone should know about Gotham City. If you've seen any of the films or even read one comic you'll know what the dark, filthy city looks like. I could have called this forum something that included 'Batman' in the title. But I don't want to do that. Here's why.

While I really would like someone to turn up as Batman and demand that a Joker is there, everyone has two options for there character: enter as an existing character or create your own.

Of course, becoming an existing character means that you can begin causing havoc immediately. You can't make the character do anything he wouldn't normally do or shouldn't be able to do. Two-face can't fly, Joker doesn't save damsels in distress...that sort of thing.

But, if you create a character- and I am encouraging it -try to come up with a plausible story for why he's or she's doing what he's/ she's doing. There are three groups in Batman: The Heroes, the Villains, the normal folks in between it all. With the possible exception of of the normal citizen, every newly created character must start as a normal citizen then create the story that then turns them into the Hero/Villain they remain for the rest of this forum's life.

So, you have to spend a little bit of time explaining their back story before they don the cape or rob the bank.

Cheers for turning up Chulance. I'd prefer you to choose between Batman or the Joker. Its probably easier that way. I've role-played both sides of a fight before and its quite dull. It would better to have a Joker or Batman played by one person only.

Assumed Name (Hero/Villain): The Riddler
Age: 29
Appearance: (as Edward) Red hair cropped just below the ears, pastey skin, but clean cut. He is slender and tall; almost lanky by the standards of villany/heroism. (As Riddler) He has the same build, but covers his upper face with a purple mask and green fedora. He wears a green suit and uses technological weapanry strapped to his waist.
Personality: Edward is a timid man who knows how to follow directions and tends to daydream a little while still managing to keep his reputation as a respectable, common place person. The Riddler is more forward and ambitious in his persuit of crime and a new mental challange. He is border-line narsasistic and would probably be close to the opposite of Edward Nygma
Likes: Edward likes coffee and the sweet sounds of the violin. The Riddler likes... riddles and the thrill of outsmarting others.
Dislikes: LOSING!
Goals:They both want to be recognized, hence, the creation of the Riddler persona
Abilities and skills: Technological mastery and sardonic questioneering.
Brief life history: Edward spent over half his lifetime as a part of the crowd, unnoticed by parents, peers, and passers by. Although his extrordinary talent for unraveling the unknown gained him some notariety, it was passed off as a fluke and ignored. Finally, like men of genius often do; Edward went mad and gained a sort of clarity that led him to the Darkside, thus, the Riddler was brought into the world.

Assumed Name (Hero/Villain): Banshee (Crone)
Age: somewhere between 77 and 88
Appearance: Long white hair framing a thin face with wrinkles and an elongated nose. One eye is electric blue and the other is an amber color. She typically wears black shawls over a brown dress with paton leather boots. Her frame is bony and fragile looking.
Personality: A cantankerous old woman with a slightly lusty humor. She never misses a chance to bring misery to those around her, because... misery loves company. Gardinia's a sardonic wit and would much prefer to spend an evening alone rahter than out with people her own age.
Likes: cats, Monty Python, scaring the crap out of little children and unexpecting travelers
Dislikes: Hip-hop, the nightly news, people who can laugh at nothing at all.
Goals: To live out the rest of her life, making the world a better place by wrecking the hopes and dreams of those whom she finds irritating.
Abilities and skills: Sonic screeching that would send shivers down the spines of mortal men, telekenesis, the ability to creat illusions within the brain. (a power that could be used for either great good or great evil... but mostly evil)
Brief life history: Gardinia was born in Scottland and retains the vast majority of her heratige even in America. Her parents were killed by either illness or famine, whichever came first, and her uncle took her overseas in the 50's to live in Gotham, where he had property near a factory. As a girl, she was nearly drown in a public pool by another gil whom didn't like her at all. There, she spent a brief moment between life and death and was granted powers to preserve herself by forces that she couldn't comprehend at the time. She later threw the girl back and held her beneath water without even touching her.
Her married life was almost as miserable as her childhood. Gardinia's husband, John Filtch, was a known adulterer and mentally abused the young bride he'd covetted for a few months before marrying her. Finally, it was said that Gardinia lost her mind, although she would tell you she'd come to her senses, and she decided to end her suffering.

Brief life history: Reggie left his twenty years of law to pursue a political campaign. He was elected as Mayor of the city his first time running. He is known for a flawless record with the law and his iron fist with criminals.
