Aeryn winced as the spikes raked across his stomach - though their effect was reduced by his shield, they still hurt with the full force of Drakus' leg behind them. But they weren't exactly crippling, thankfully. As Drakus pulled his so-called dirty trick, Aeryn's response was basic. Seeing as he had his opponent pinned to the ground with a sword through his stomach, he figured that conserving energy was no longer a priority. Aeryn's entire body flashed as a burst of force exploded from his form, relatively weak, but enough to knock Drakus' dagger away. The ice around his shield was fractured, allowing him to - with a wrench of effort - pull it free from the compromised hold.

He was more than impressed at the fact that Drakus seemed entirely unfettered by the sword in his stomach, with regard to the lack of pain and hindrance, but assumed that it was some sort of power that he possessed. Still, having a sword in your stomach had to do some damage, and so to further that cause, Aeryn twisted the blade where it had pierced straight through the man with a grimace. The blade turned, severely worsening the wound by gashing open more of Drakus' stomach.

In the next moment, Aeryn sent a burst of light from his back, forming a similar construction to his springboard, albeit one with less 'spring'. He leaned back on this slightly for support as he lifted his left foot and sent a powerful kick straight towards Drakus' face, aiming to knock Drakus backwards and pull his sword free with the momentum,

Drakus, while indeed in immense pain from the sword, had more important things in life. He'd been stabbed before and he knew it wasn't fatal. An opportunity arose as his opponents spring board came into play, eyes lighting up for the briefest of moments. His hands shot up the moment he saw the foot descending to cover his face, palms aimed outwards. This would mean he would taste his own knuckles as the foot descended, but would give him the perfect opportunity to shove the mans leg upwards over his head, leaving him in a position lacking balance.

Thankfully, Aeryn had thought ahead, knowing that putting all his weight on one foot was risky. Thus, the springboard came into play, stopping him from being toppled backwards, instead only being forced to halt his kick without significant damage being done. He did however manage to wrench his sword free, blood spraying as the weapon was pulled from Drakus' stomach. The silvis then flicked his foot forwards almost casually, sending a burst of weak force out to hit Drakus, again in the face, aimed to stun rather than do any damage, and to distract from the actual assault.

Aeryn swung his sword in a swift arc, easily able to move the blade at a much faster rate than a normal sword, aiming to hack right into Drakus' neck and decapitate him where he sat. This fight was practically already won. Even if he didn't finish Drakus off like this, he'd bleed out within a few minutes regardless of any pain resistance he had. Aeryn's eyes were narrowed and set as he tried to end Drakus' suffering promptly, rather than draw it out as he could do just by walking away and leaving him to bleed to death.

"Sorry, mate, but all's fair and good in war and slash or fighting tournaments without many rules." he muttered.

Drakus snorted. Youths. They thought they had seen it all because they had been in a tournament or two. Drakus two hands were still up, ready for the kick, and thus they stood to withstand the force of the pulse. Likewise, as the sword was swung Drakus raised a hand, using ice as he had before to catch it in his hand. At one his right hand flicked upwards, unleashing a simple glacial burst. It was technically the same spell before that on contact exploded into spikes, however Drakus could activate it when he liked to cause it to spike in the direction of his choosing.

"Correct," was his shrarp rebuttal as the magical ball split into four reasonably sized icicles, launching for various parts of Aeryn's torso (thought roughly the upper and center part, as there wasn't much room to divert from the location). He was making a strong assumption that due to the sword range proximity that his spell couldn't be blocked so easily by shield, but just to make sure he quickly rolled sideways (using his icey grip on the sword as leverage) and swept both for Aeryn's attempting to knock him over.

Aeryn winced as the icicles met their mark, though as they hadn't had much chance to pick up momentum their damage wasn't as devastating as it could have been. The amulet's shield protected him somewhat, but he was still forced backwards as the icicles pierced flesh and knocked him away. A burst of force outwards from his body prevented them from doing any lasting damage -- though it was too late to prevent them hitting him in the first place -- and he was forced back half a step with four gashes in his body leaking blood. Grimacing at the pain, Aeryn once more wrenched his sword backwards away from the ice with another shattering burst of force, before finally managing to hop inelegantly away in time to avoid the sweep at his legs.

"Alright, fine then." he said, rolling his eyes, "Be that way. I'll just let you bleed out."

The silvis backed up a few more steps, though, and his eyes lit up with energy. He was more than aware now that Drakus had some sort of supernatural pain resistance, allowing him to act as an unwounded man despite the hole that went clean through his midsection. So he planned to ready something for when the man managed to come after him, despite his gained distance. Channeling energy for an attack, Aeryn warily watched Drakus for any movement.

Drakus rolled onto his belly than rose up, pressing a hand to the wet patch at his stomach and breathing slowly. He too used magic, though it went two ways. The first was to his stomach, ice, to slow the bleeding and cover the wound. Certainly not as short term effective as cauterizing, but a hell of a lot less painful. He put on an act, bending over slightly to hide the injury from view. "I'm going to bleed out," he calls in a hoarse voice, slightly shaky. Unfortunately he couldn't make his face go pale, or that would have made the act complete.

The other source of his magic was one that could be quickly dispatched of if the need came to defend himself, but for the moment it went towards summoning a familiar, a dragon made of ice to be exact, not in visible view, but underneth the clouds. "I guess I have no choice but to surrender or be put through the painful process of death."

Aeryn folded his arms, raising an eyebrow, "Yeah, you are, unless you intend to break the rules and use healing. When you have a hole all the way through you, mate, short of going through and putting all your insides back in the right place you're fucking screwed. I'm surprised your intestines haven't fallen out yet."

It was obvious that Drakus was faking, though. That last line, seriously? It sounded like he was bluffing a kid's cartoon! The only thing Aeryn could think of that Drakus could do, though, at least as far as he'd seen, was either freeze the gaping hole in him or pull out an entirely new power. Freezing probably wouldn't help, given that it wouldn't stop the internal bleeding (or if it did, it would basically shut his body down) and something else..? Well, he'd have to risk it.

Deciding to go for what would definitely be a devastating, killing blow, Aeryn darted away from Drakus to continue charging his power. He jumped upwards, landing on a platform of cloud higher up, and started to climb upwards. He leaped over several different platforms, winding his way around using the thick clouds as cover to stay out of Drakus' sight as he climbed.

His aim was to reach a platform near to directly over Drakus himself, with only glimpses of him seen as he jumped from cloud to cloud. Even if he failed, it wouldn't be long before Drakus just keeled over and died.

Drakus watched his opponent slowly ascend until they were out of view. Well... that was a pretty obvious maneuver. Straightening up he quickly finishes off the dragon and orders it on its way. The familiar cracked its wings and took off into the air, immediately beating its wings to head upwards. Why it beat its wings Drakus didn't know. The creatures flight was purely magical. There was no such thing as an aerodynamic ice creature. It rose and rose until it bumped into a cloud, much to its surprise. Promptly it latched on and began to crawl until it reached the edge and promptly dug into the side to peer over the edge, only to have the clouds peel away.

Alarmed, it gave a silent squark, mouth opening with a crack of ice as it let go to continue flying, looking for Aeryn.

Stupid thing, Drakus thought. Well, he had a moment. Time to enact a plan. He calmly drew out his sword, finally, and a dagger for a luck in his left hand, then focussed. Magic began to flow from his body as ice spread from his feet outwards across the cloud in a circle. It slowly worked outwards from him, and it only depended on how much time he was granted, relying on the miniature dragon to be his eyes. For now it barely extended a foot.

And at that moment, Aeryn dropped. From twenty feet above Drakus, Aeryn shot downwards like a bullet. Fully encompassed in bright light, the silvis fell from the clouds towards the man with murder in his eyes. He didn't fall at normal speed -- his force propelling him downwards -- but rather shot through the air like a cannon ball. He would impact the ground - and potentially Drakus - in just two or three seconds, and where he did so, it was as a massive fist of energy. His entire body became a weapon, crushing downwards with the force equivalent to being hit by a large car travelling at high speeds.

If Drakus had the mental capacity to react to his sudden fall within the seconds he had, then surely he wouldn't have the physical capacity to actually jump somewhere when his torso was practically frozen solid and he was bleeding out on the inside. In the unlikely event that he did, however, Aeryn would rise out of his impact unharmed, and make to sweep his sword down on Drakus' upper body wherever he had dodged to, if he was within range.

"Cannonball!" was the exclamation that Aeryn made as he cannoned down at Drakus, grinning maniacally.

With the average human reaction rate being under a second, enhanced moreso by Drakus own magic, and with a familiar acting as spotter Drakus did indeed have time to react. However, he did what any sensible person would do. Firstly he ensured he was out of the way of the fist by adjusting his stance, which was as simple as moving his right foot back, then raised his blade, angling it to the side to catch the descending blade. Of course, that wouldn't work entirely with the force the man was coming down at, but the sentiment of parrying was there. Finally, he raised his free hand up, aiming for just past the fist for Aeryn's face with the small dagger in his left hand, this one with an ironic curse of blindness.

Ironic as it was aimed for the face.

Where there were eyes.

The dragon itself had immediately set off, folding wings back to descend at a rapid rate with claws thrust forward, but it was too far away to actually do anything right now.

Unfortunately for Drakus, Aeryn's attack wasn't quite so centralised around his fist as he might have thought. Aeryn met Drakus' sword and was entirely unfettered by it, the field of energy that surrounding him smashing it away if not totally crumpling the metal. The same applied to the dagger, batted away or crumpled. The energy that Aeryn had been channeling into the attack covered his entire body and more, and the giant fist shape that he had formed was wider than the length of an average man's turning circle. If Drakus had not moved more drastically than Aeryn first thought, then it was highly likely that he would come down and impact Drakus, though not as directly as intended, still enough to cause some significant damage.

The force of the impact was enough to break every bone that it came into contact with - likely at least one of Drakus' arms, shoulders and legs as well as a sizable number of ribs, crushing the man downwards and almost certainly knocking him down. Blood splattered into Aeryn's face, causing him to grimace, but as he rose out of the crouch that he had landed in he ignored it, stepping away from Drakus' likely crumpled and broken form.

Where he now stood, Aeryn lifted one hand, panting, and sent a burst of force from it towards Drakus' throat, aiming to put an end to the man rather than leave him in the crippling agony that he was probably in by this point. The attack wasn't very powerful, considering the amount Aeryn had just exerted himself, but it was likely enough to put a stop to what meager life was left in his opponent.

As Drakus' broken body was cast forcefully into the clouds beneath both their feet, Aeryn landed hard in a crouch beside him. The silvis leaned on one hand, taking several deep breaths before raising himself upwards to stand. His eyes fell grimly on Drakus' form, bleeding and crumpled but still breathing. It brought him no pleasure to see what had seemed like a perfectly nice man in such a state, but it could never be said that Aeryn wasn't ruthless when necessity demanded it.

"Better luck next time, eh?" Aeryn murmured, though he doubted that Drakus was conscious to hear him given the amount of damage he had suffered. The silvis lifted a hand, and from it a single burst of force shot. It hit Drakus' throat and punctured straight through the weak point, and the dying man's breathing became gurgling, before lapsing into nothing.

An eerie silence fell over the battlefield as Aeryn watched the blood pool beneath his opponent, forming odd patterns as it trickled over the uneven shape of the cloud. His hand went to one of the numerous gashes he had suffered over the course of the fight, and he winced. He hoped that the healing facilities here were as good as they had been claimed to be.

Aeryn turned and walked away from Drakus' body, staring up through the clouds and into the sky. "Would it be presumptuous for me to assume that we're done here and ask if you could kindly 'beam me up, Scotty'?" he called out to whoever was observing the fights -- he assumed that there was someone, after all, to judge them.
