Grassroots Tournament 2011 (OOC & Sign-ups) ( )

The Grassroots Tournament
2011: Germination

Welcome, newcomers and veterans alike, to the second annual Grassroots Tournament, also referred to as GR2011. Continuing on the success of last year's tournament, I will be hosting yet another T1 Eden Era, Powered, Single-Elimination Bracket. In response to fighter input from the tourney's previous instance, there will be several changes made. First, unlike last year, we are now open to users of any skill level and any site; the ban on top-ranked and professional fighters has been lifted to allow for stronger competition among fighters. Also, due to several participants not being able to fight in the main bracket last year (as a consequence of an odd number of participants signing up), I am making the bracket more flexible in terms of numbers by introducing a group stage. This stage will consist of one preliminary round of three or four player free-for-all battles. However, this will only be implemented if there are an uneven amount of participants confirmed. Furthermore, I have introduced more In-Character locations to increase the possible range of terrain for battle, and stages will be more accurately matched to allow the powers of both characters to be fully utilized.

One last change to the tournament is the emphasis that there is a sabotage element incorporated into the competition; your character will constantly be vulnerable to any In-Character attempts to bring you down through indirect means, with the exception of if they are in battle. There will be an In-Character thread posted shortly after this one, in which you are free to begin posting after your character has been approved. In between rounds, contestants will be given two weeks to a month for In-Character play while I judge fights and update the bracket. Should the contestants as a whole decide they want more or less time, I am open to altering the length of the in-between periods, but the change must be generally accepted by fighters and approved of myself. All users are welcome to stay and continue participating In-Character until the end of the tournament, regardless of their elimination status. Please remember, as a final note, that damage is accrued between rounds*, and your character can and likely will die at least once; for that end I will partially play a character capable to reviving fighters. However, purposeful suicides will not be undone, to prevent indirect healing.

*I am considering not actually implementing this rule. Let me know what you think in this thread.

With the exception of those who are being invited, sign-ups will occur on a first come, first serve basis. Please post your entire character sheet in this thread, or send it in a private message to me, so that I may review it and accept, deny, or ask you to revise. Sign-ups will start at the time this thread is posted until June 6th, 2011 @ 3:00PM EST. For guidelines on what is and is not accepted, please read below.

Power Limitation Guidelines: wrote:- Healing, regeneration, or reconstruction of damaged characters, in any way, shape, or form is disallowed.
- (Reconstruction which doesn't remove damage is allowed, but will be watched.)
- No manipulation of time, space, or opening dimensional rifts.
- Superforms, (example being Super Saiyans and other powered up states) are also banned.
- Canon characters are incompatible with the Grassroots dimension and therefore cannot enter.
- Guns and other projectile weapons will be unable to pierce beyond the dermis (or equivalent nonlethal layer) of opponents.
- Any additional effects the projectiles carry will also be rendered non-lethal.
- Note that different planets may or may not have additional alterations.

And as a "no stronger than this" general guideline:

Anime League Character Tier Guidelines wrote:Level 6 || The charisma and influence necessary to muster an army of elite soldiers, and access to the technology needed to build and operate a small space craft capable of interstellar travel (or a magic dragon from the future, whatever floats your boat). A revolutionary, extremely potent and refined control over one or several elements, usage of alchemy, ninjutsu, etc. Highly adept and skilled weapon dexterity and skill. Superhuman reflexes, speed, and agility. Able to lift 2000 lbs several times. Your powers and skills rival those of Gandalf the White, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Himura Kenshin at their best.

I wish all of you the best of luck.

"May the strongest grass blade grow tallest."

Additional Information:

In Character Locations:

Grassroots Lobby - Now in orbit around Kyrvktz, the lobby has been completely re-worked to accommodate for a much larger amount of guests, and also contains new facilities for various purposes. In the center of the ring-shaped station is a spherical area where terrain of any kind can be simulated, should a highly customized location be needed for battle between contestants.

Terrain Types:
- Miscellaneous

Planet Kyrvktz - Previously a realm for the deceased from other dimensions to wander for eternity, it was captured and converted by Azir for various uses. This was the location for the first Grassroots tournament, and many of the notable areas of the planet are still ready for use.

Terrain Types:
- Swamps
- Temperate Sand Dunes
- Barren Plateaus
- Wasteland Tundra

Planet Sylixzan - A new addition to the list of planets used by the Grassroots Corporation for the tournament, Sylixzan's vast oceans and overcast weather make most of the ground marsh at all times. Because of the dimension's non-standard physics, the core is hollow and contains vast amounts of liquid helium at standard room temperature that run up the sides of the core. The often thick clouds are also mostly solid, and can be traversed on foot with relative safety.

Terrain Types:
- Marshes
- Cloud Plains
- Liquid Helium Core
- Oceans

Planet Gxinit - Yet another newly colonized planet used for the tournament, the vast, overgrown vegetation emits its own light, causing the planet to glow a neon green. The planet relies only on photosynthesis and the decaying carcasses of its native lifeforms for sustenance. There is an occasional area where fields of grass grow on rolling hills without being hampered by larger trees, but these are uncommon.

Terrain Types:
- Neon Jungles
- Canopies
- Grass Fields

Planet Alzipen - The last new colonized planet being used for the tournament, the planet's molten conditions, steep mountains, and cliffs make for a challenging traversal. Molten pits exist around the planet, as well as somewhat cooler mountain peaks. Smog clouds can often be viewed bellowing from the various volcanoes. There also exists a well-known pit which travels down to areas approaching the inner mantle of the planet.

Terrain Types:
- Mountains
- Volcanoes
- Hard Rock Plains
- Lava Pits
- The Abyss

Gado - Accepted

LuckyNumber24 - Remove intangibility from your Ghost-Like Abilities, and remember that transforming into Ravens will not prevent you from accruing damage on your normal form. If you do so and make no other changes, you are accepted. Otherwise, let me know if/when you revise your profile.

I am reviewing the other profiles as well, but keep in mind that I am in finals week and am thus very busy.

I'm very interested in this. Here is my character information: http://razielgalizur.weebly.com/index.html

A few notes, however, are as follows:

I understand the limitations provided above, and I understand that certain aspects to my character's abilities will have to be cut in order for him to be playable in this event. I was curious if it would be fine if I did not completely remove the text of those abilities since I have no other place currently to save the information. I could make a note above the information page stating that they will be inactive in any in-character interaction in this particular event as to avoid confliction of role-play morality concerning the regulations while still not having to remove, re-add at a later date, and still not be claimed as a rule-breaker for this event.

Just to clarify, I know the "Release/Restore" and "Quantum Foam" will have to be cut. Temporal and Corporal management should be fine since space or time manipulation is not allowed anyways, so all it does is use up text-space in the template.

Transformation should be fine, but this is up to you also, as is the Lucifer Blade since it is not absolute.

(I seriously hope I did not just become long-winded with this.)

Thanks!

UPDATE****

Although I am sure I did not do this correctly, I was able to post the above provided information in this website: roleplay/the-multiverse/characters/raziel-galizur/

However, in the segments, there were no spaces for me to add my summons or NPC's into the profile. I am curious if they would be allowed. Well, obviously the Grand Elder wouldn't, since he only exist--as far as the world is concerned--in print. I could remove Sha-von, too, but would love to keep the latter beast in the site for obvious reasons. Thank you for the time.

Ok. I will edit her profile and I agree to the second part.

Ok, so I have a little bit of time on my hands, so I'm able to look through these profiles. Here's my verdict on the current profiles recieved; if I tell you to revise a character, edit the profile and link me back to it in your next post:

Script/Parabola: Make the following changes to your character, and you will be good to go.
- Silverite (Physical) can only generate at maximum 4000 pounds of force per attack, and can only lift that much. These limits should be fairly strenuous for your character to execute, and as such, are expected to not be abused.
- No augmentation of your power through the Rage ability. Feel free to get mad, but as it is, your character's strength is fine. Also, some of your abilities are being limited as they are, so this should go without explanation.
- Mirror Force will shatter if any attack with one or more preps hits with decent contact. (If you put preps into your shield, then your opponent will need to have one prep more than that amount. ie: You prep once. They prep twice. The shield breaks. )

Tiko:
- Although your Ethereal ability is impressively balanced, it is still classifiable under dimensional manipulation, and is therefore not allowed.
- Banish should require one half the number of preps required to summon the creature in question. Add this to your description of the move.

Raziel: This is not a Demi-God tournament. I am unable to imagine ways to tone down virtually everything in your shortened profile without it still being broken way beyond level 6. Don't bring a rocket launcher to a pistol fight, basically. Make another, much weaker character, and submit it if you wish. As an alternative, you can fight with just your Crystal Lattice Sword that hardens based on force put against it, levitation, and no other abilities.

Patch: Approved.

Profile updated. The link in the original PM will still work :) I altered Mirror Force to allow for said prepping to be viable, and I agree to those terms with its use. Rage now only numbs him from pain, an entirely inward mental effect that has no physical connotations aside from the mental capacity to fight through painful injuries. The force limits for the physical energy have been redefined as you specified.

Twilight, I wasn't able to participate in the last one(Mind won't let me focus on one thing longer than a few days, explains why I only like RPs where I only need to post once a week), and I want to be in this one. But you, you trickster you, made it near the time I plan to move. So, instead, I shall watch this, like a hawk. A hawk bent on watching things, a lot. :)

(Im appyling for the tournament with my recently created character Frey.)

Name: Frey D. Tensai

Age: 19

Race: Phoenix

Appearance: Frey appears like your modern teenage boy. He has short, gray hair with spiked tips at the end of each little bang. His skin is a peachy rose color, often becoming pale when nervous or shy. Frey has light teal eyes. Frey often wears black skinny jeans, tucked down into his high top black converses. The converses have white strings, and the heel of the shoe is white, as well as most of the front. For upper attire he wears a fur hoodie that reads the words. "Placebo" designed underneath a picture of an eye in unruly wild text. Underneath the hoodie is a teal shirt that matches his eyes. On his head are a pair of teal head phones matching his shirt and his eyes.
Distinguishing Features: If you look at him the first time, many mistake him for a female.
Weaponry, Equipment, Armour:
Weapons:

Katana - A slimmer version of a sword made in Japan. The katana is made of a cold steel, also known as Iron. The sword when mixed with the power of his various elemental manipulations is seen to change form. But the main forms used are its fire form, and its Light form. Other than that the sword doesn't really change in appearance.

Equipment:
Kojirou Charm: A small silver chain that hangs from his neck. The chain is designed with a small wolf holding a mini katana. The necklace is said to boost a persons mana.

Armour:
Currently he has no Armour.

Talents, Skills and Abilities:

Elemental Manipulation: Using the main for elements of Fire, Earth, Wind, Water, and Lightning to his usage. He is properly trained for elemental like areas able to use all to they're full extent. Though his main elements are Fire, and Lightning.

Superb Senses: Unlike most people, Frey has superb senses able to hear sneak attacks, notice traps, etc. faster than anyone else. Usually he is the first one to react to any surprise movements.

Additional Information:

@TwilightShade: Alright, fair enough. I had an idea that he would be denied, so I'll submit this one in reply. I've read the guildlines above and have made this character subjected to them in every way. I hope this will be acceptable.

Name: Adrian

Race: Human; Arcane Emissary

Physical: His physical form is a fickle thing, but is normally seen as short, slim, and very pale. He is often dressed in suits, top-hats, adorned with a cane or other various objects that make him seem as normal as the next person in the world.

Eyes - Blue
Hair - Subjected to change
Height: Often around 5'7"
Weight: Undetermined

Items -

Cane: Simple, wooden and knotted.
Flask: Silver, obviously for whiskey.
Gloves: Two white gloves, often worn, with sigils marked on the back of the hands.

Diamonds: Although these are formed through his elemental manipulation, it should be noted that crystals--or Diamonds--are based on the element that creates them. Rather than a physical standard, they are subjected as a pathway for Adrian to interact with the world around him. For example: An Earth diamond, that may actually be a diamond, would be condensed sensation in the connection to the world 60 feet around him should they be placed on the ground. Meaning, he could 'feel' something, or 'hear' something through them while they are upon their element. Same is applied to water, ice, fire, or whatever element he is subjected to use.

Christine: A violin, Cello, or a combination of the two all in one. She exist as a necklace around Adrian's neck, able to be given form with a small amount of effort. Although she has no notable worth to the world, Adrian is able to conform her beauty with his Arcane arts. [Notation - Not a combat-related item]

Abilities -

- Emissary of Aether: A super-solid that has restrained form – solid, liquid, gas – and is continuously flowing in many chaotic yet set directions. It is the source that resides within Adrian and it is the substance that allows him to construct his own little pocket of subjective reality both within and around him. This subjective reality is his mind. The substance itself has no actual visual presence and is conformable to whatever it is upon or within, thus it has no measurable form of heat for itself. It is unable to direct any offensive – harmful – motivations of itself to any organic material that originates from the planet, but it is able to read, smell, feel, see, hear, adapt, deny self-adaptation, and understand both inorganic and organic substances and is also able to react as a counter to the previously mentioned substances if they should so attempt to apply harm to the Emissary. If however another substance attempts to force any form of conformity to this substance, this substance acts as a viral infection upon adaptation into the most logical anti-substance existence it is able to take (basically giving a sickness). This substance can both empower him with additional strength, speed, sense, and/or arcane architectural mysticism if withdrawn from the active course back into him-self. (Please note that it isn't really another reality, but the same place given additional animation from his subjective mind; basically making his imagination able to be seen. This substance is for cover reading.)

- Arcane Elemental: A master in Arcane arts – magic, elemental uses, supernatural processes and rituals of causality - Adrian is able to use alchemy and other keen supernatural arts swiftly and accurately. In this, he can also use elemental manipulation, but is limited to one element per act, thus his limitations are heeded each second he bothers to make the attempts. He is an illusionist by nature and uses tiers one through six, in ascending order. It should be noted that his physical abilities conform to whatever element he uses at whatever time he uses it. This means that if he uses water, which is swift, fluent, he is also swift and fluent. If he uses earth, which is hard, durable, powerful physically, he is also so. However, much like his uses in elements, he is limited to the qualities of that one element when he uses that one element.

(It should be noted that the Arcane arts have to be spent in longer amounts of time should the effect be strong. Arcane arts is a fancy way of saying sigils, or seals, which are commonly seen as circles. Magic, supernatural process and rituals of causality are all terms Adrian invented for himself and are not subject to refinement in other terms.)

Oh this looks like fun. I'd like to Submit last year's champ Sirius Leonine as a Judge.

I have a particular character in mind for this years tournament. I'm still tweaking it however. Expect another contestant shortly.
