Kenneth was pacing in his room, an eye on the clock. An eye on the window. An eye everywhere. An eye on more places than he had eyes to spare. He had emailed his friends about meeting at the local highschool. They planned to break in, have a halloween party, and get out before someone notices them.
Little did he know what the night held.
Outside were the shouts and cheers of drunken, costume clad, idiots. Some pirates, and some vampires, some just plain idiotic people. The idea annoyed the hell out of Kenneth, but it gave him an excuse to get out of the house and do something with some friends. Even if that something was illegal.
He walked over to the bath room and turned on the light. It hurt his eyes the moment it came on and the fact the entire bathroom was white tile did not help. Black tiles would have been easier. He looked into the mirror above the sink and staring back at him was a seventeen year old kid with long-ish brown hair and blue eyes. His forehead was covered in spots and he sighed. He looked at his tooth that he had chipped the previous night by standing on a rogue skateboard and falling, leading to his face and the hard pavement being introduced to each other rather quickly.
Hey, even the mona lisa's fallin' apart. he thought before turning off the light and heading down stairs. He walked into the kitchen and opened a cuboard, withdrew a bottle of imported rice wine and shoved it in a plastic bag. He imported a lot of things from Japan, and many people called him obsessed. But he simply replied with 'I'm not obsessed, just wildly fascinated.' and most things from Japan did fascinate him. Especially the women. Of course, he could only tell that to -- oh who was he kidding he was open about it. Most girls just called him a pervert but hey, it happens.
Kenneth walked to the door and turned the kitchen light off, then made his way to the main door of the house. He took a black jacket off of the coat hanger and put it on. Checking he had his keys -- which he did -- he left into the cold outside wind. He hated the cold, but despised the summer moreso. If he had to freeze to avoid hayfever, then so be it.
He made his way down the street past the houses of his neighbors, most of which were asleep by now save for those who had children, and continued down the street. Within ten minutes he was in town, and it was busy like usual. People in costumes getting drunk, people in costumes about to get drunk, people in costumes throwing up because they're drunk and drunk people trying hard to convince the police that they are not drunk.
Kenneth took a sharp right and entered a video store, knowing exactly who would be working at this time. He walked up to the desk and saw a tall, thin man with bushy hair and a small goatee. This man was Gregory phelps. A local idiot, and stoner, but funny and a nice guy to chill with all the same.
"Yo, man." Gregory said with a dazed smile on his face as if he had spent the past few hours being fed morphine,
"Money. You owe me, man." Said Kenneth smiling,
"oh... Dude... Heavy. Hold on, man." Said Gregory as he reached into the depths of his pockets and placed it's contents on the desk. A peice of fluff, an eraser, a paper clip, a penny, but not money, "Oh... Ok, hold on." He said dozily again as he reached into the other pocket and found his wallet. His wallet consisted of nothing but an elastic band holding his money and driver's lisence together. He took the money and handed it all to Kenneth before smiling and getting his random items back into his pocket.
Kenneth waved and walked out, took a right and continued walking. Six minutes later and he was there. Outside the high school. Pretty nice during the day, pretty sinister during the night. He half expected a thunderbolt to come blasting down and an organ to play some cheesy theme that implied horrors were lurking in the dark. He looked at his watch, a digital one that lit with a dim blue light,
10: 57 PM
