The cat’s nudging was immediately reacted to, and Inochi gave into his silently hinted desires. Running her nails into his fur slightly this time as she petted him, she lifted her free hand to rustle her light, pink bangs. Yes, even her hair was an odd shade of pink. Although Inochi saw it as uncommon and a sure trait carried by the Diclonius, the mayor’s not even giving it a second glance let into the fact that things here either weren’t known about or found weird. She looked out onto the stream, which seemed to glisten in the shining sun. While rusting her bangs, one of her hands knocked into her horn, reminding even her as to what she was. “That’s right…” She said, looking down at the cat once more. He didn’t seem frightened at all, although most animals reacted instantly to the vicious nature of the Diclonius. Maybe her pure heart would finally shine stronger than her DNA, or at least she hoped it would, in this small town where she planned on making herself a new beginning.
She smirked a little, calling onto her receptors; invisible ghost-like arms, the main mutation of her kind. Allowing the now summoned vectors to slink down and into the water, she searched along the muddy floor for her prey. The vibration of molecules was no longer invisible once they hit the liquid, for a shift in current followed their movement. It didn’t take long though, for her idea to be set into play. Mere moments after Inochi’s hand reached the cat’s back, a fish appeared to suddenly jump from the stream and land on bridge, below the animal. She’d set just enough force into her receptor to throw the scaly creature out of it’s aquatic home. To play into the feat and keep herself looking innocent, Inochi jumped back at this and called back her arms to take their place inside her. “Ah!” She gasped as the fish jumped around; trying to make it’s way back into the water. Although she was slightly amused for the moment, Inochi knew this was something she couldn’t do often, if ever again. Her promise to her parents kept her from calling on her vectors, she was going to try and live a normal life. “Hurry, hurry! It’ll get away!” She said, pointing to the fish while looking at the cat. He was soft, comfortable, and friendly; if she disobeyed her parents once to please the only kind figure beside them that she’d ever met… she was okay with it.
The short and stocky woman whom greeted Inochi when she arrived was now busily rushing around the small town. With such a lack of people, it seemed word spread fast. Word from the barber made it to her quickly, there was another person lurking in the town of Rosuto. The mayor, of course, wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass her by, she had to grab every chance she was given to inhabit the town. Although cheery and carefree on the outside, she was a trouble woman who was being threatened to lose the entire valley if it’s population didn’t pick up. She quickly searched all of the comfortable, inviting places of the town to see if this new person had stopped to rest in one of the many. After coming up empty handed, she decided to check all of the abandoned homes. When all of the homes inside the valley came up empty, the woman slowly trudged over towards the river, to search the homes opposite where she’d been. As she reached the bridge, she saw Inochi and the large, black cat. “Well, well Hello.” She said to Inochi, waving. She was panting and out of breath, her weight wasn’t helping her newfound duties at all. “Have… you seen anyone else around here?” She asked, stopping mid-sentence to take a breath. Inochi’s eyes light up at the woman asked her, now remembering why she ended up at the bridge in the first place. “Y-yes, I think I have. I thought I saw someone… but when I went to approach them…” She didn’t want to tell the mayor that she was too shy to talk to this person. This town was quiet and friendly; surely someone who strays away from others would be looked down upon. “I got distracted by this adorable kitty, and then a fish suddenly jumped out of the water.” She said, giggling. It wasn’t the truth, no, and she wasn’t proud of herself for stretching it at all. The scene, however, apparently wasn’t uncommon. “You’ve got to be careful, there’s a rare species of flying fish in these parts. Although they’re hard to come by, they just sprout out of the water like it ain’t nothin’.” The mayor said, chuckling heavily. “I like to call ‘em ‘dive bombers.’” She added, still laughing merrily. “About that person..?” Inochi inquired, now interested in the situation a little. “Oh, that’s right!” The mayor said, straightening up. “I’ve already checked all of the houses on this side of the river though, are you sure he was over here?” She asked. To this, Inochi looked down. She honestly couldn’t be completely sure. He was in this direction, certainly not close to her home. “No, I’m unsure...” She said, timidly. “Not to worry, child.” The stocky woman replied, adding “I’ll go check over there now.” With that she stepped around the small commotion the fish was making and went on her way.
It seemed the search on that end of the town would come up fruitless as well, for each of those homes seemed to still be locked and unoccupied. Dumbfounded, she stood and looked back towards her town, wondering if there was somewhere she’d forgotten. Mentally naming off each place as she looked past it’s key, she came upon one she didn’t remember. “Err…?” Thinking about it for a moment, it came to her; it belonged to the old wood cutter. “Of course, his hunting retreat!” It was obvious she wouldn’t remember the place; it was made only for him. When the town once picked up he was in high demand, being the only person able to do the job, he made himself a quiet little get away in a small forest. Although, it wasn’t much of a forest anymore, since the expanding of the town left most of the area for farms, nothing but a few old trees remained. None other than the wood cutter himself ever stepped inside the place, and he used it mostly for hunting and relaxing, but he’d been dead years and the home was completely forgotten. Making her way to the spot she remembered it being in, she slipped through the trees needed to make it to the front door. Just as she thought, no lock. Of course someone would be able to get into this area. Opening the door, she walked through the home looking at all the things left by the deceased man. The sound of movement in water caught her attention, and she followed the sound out back, where she nude man was now bathing. “Not too shabby, son.” She said, making her presence known as she leaned against the back door and looked out at the trees beside the house to keep from making the new male uncomfortable. “When you’re finished come inside, I’d like to have a chat. I’m Rosuto’s mayor.” She said, then walking back inside to give him his privacy.
