Hi Asperser,

I've noticed you around the site a bit and I keep doing a double take at your username. I keep thinking "Their username is Asperger?" and then I think of the word "aspersion", so...

I will do my best to get back to you with a critique of some of your posts. Other than the two links you provided, however, I will not be able to track down your posts on my own, so you will have to post more links if you want more critiques.

Blessings and peace,

Jan. 2012: I'm researching roleplaying and need any roleplayers to take an anonymous survey. It takes an average of 25 minutes. This is part 1 of 2. The second survey will be released soon.

"Funny you should mention prisoners: This afternoon we were talking about playing out a hostage situation in the bar and we were like 'only Ylanne would play the victim.'"

Haha, I got that a bit on the previous roleplaying site I used to be on. However, it was meant as an insult and I don't really have any fond memories being referred to as asperger. Ironically enough, it was how I learned of that particular a illness. But I do have two more semi-recent posts that critiques would be nice in. Both of them were in a Nation RP I was in.

Age of Magic: A Fantasy Nation RP 1st Post

Age of Magic: A Fantasy Nation RP 2nd Post

Sometimes I feel like my older posts, despite the dismal grammar, had a better selection of descriptive words. Is there any advice in expanding my vocab?

Hi Brantley,

I'm not sure exactly what your question is.

There are really three ways to join a roleplay on this site:

Firstly, if you are at a page like roleplay/as-the-curtain-falls/ which is one of my current roleplays (hasn't started yet), then you click the "Characters" tab under the title of the roleplay. Fill out the form - the minimum required is a name for the system to accept the profile. Most GMs request more information and it is standard to fill out at least some information in each of the categories. Once you have submitted, if the roleplay is open you may post immediately. If the roleplay's GM wishes to approve characters first, you must wait for approval - you can check back to see if your character appears in the "Characters" tab of the roleplay - before posting.

On the other hand if you are looking at a forum thread without a link to a roleplay using the tab system, you will follow the instructions the GM has left in the OOC thread for profiles and character submission.

Lastly, if you wish to join the sitewide Multiverse roleplay which is primarily chat-based, you will need to navigate to roleplay/the-multiverse/#characters/ and fill out the form there. Again, the minimum required is a name. Choose carefully. Capital letters, spaces, and symbols are accepted. Upon doing so, you may immediately begin roleplaying in this roleplay.

Hope this helps,

If you have other questions, please let me know.

Blessings and peace,
Lydia

I'm currently the GM of an RP, and I was wondering if there's any way to make a definite post minimum that would prevent people from posting anything less than a paragraph in length, or do I just put the post minimum in the Rules section?

Thanks;

As far as I am aware, there is no system/computer enforceable way to create a post length minimum. I would post it in the rules, perhaps in bold, underlined, or italicized for emphasis to ensure folks notice. Standard etiquette is for prospective players to review the rules and then to adhere to them should they submit a profile.

Hey Ylanne,

I'm new to this site and am confused about something. Recently, I submitted a character to 'The Black Order'. I got a message saying the character had been accepted and is now part of the black order, but I still can't make any posts. Do you have any idea why this is?

Your character probably wasn't actually accepted. I checked the character's list, and didn't see any there that were created by you.
Review the PM you were sent...?

Also, thanks Ylanne.

No problem, Tsukihana. I took a look at your profile, by the way, and I also have some OCD traits, but not enough to warrant a diagnosis. Mine is Asperger's Syndrome. We're also in a similar IQ range.

Dear Aftershock, as Tsukihana said, your character probably wasn't accepted. Upon submitting a character to any roleplay, the system automatically sends a message informing you a new character has been added. If you cannot post, you were not actually approved by the GM. It's a glitch which ought to be fixed.

Hello Ylanne,

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind reading over my roleplay, AEVUS. I created it more for testing purposes of the tabbed roleplay system (being both a writer and a web designer it seemed like an irresistible opportunity for me to tinker). Since I already have the overall concept and start of the story up, I was looking for critiques. I've been roleplaying for a while, but have been on a long hiatus and I'm afraid I have lost touch with some of my skill. Would you mind giving me any pointers you see I may need them?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide,

Me and a few friends of mine built an RP and were wondering how do we put it so we are all on the game master so we can edit as problems occur? If this is available could you give us a hand please. Thanks a lot

This is not a feature that is available at the time being, unfortunately. We are working to add this feature to the next version of the Tab system down the line.

Hey Ylanne, I was wondering if there was a mentor who would be willing to work with me. I'm rather new to this site, so I'm not sure if I'm asking this in the right part. I tried to PM you, but I couldn't figure that out wither. x.x;

Thanks

Hi Ylanne, I'm wondering if you can either give me or direct me on some information as to how to craft engaging and interesting character profiles. To be honest, I hate creating complex profiles, because I find that I like to develop my characters according to how the roleplay unfolds.

Ideally, I would like to be able to create profiles that capture all the necessary details with brevity and that leaves room for the character to develop naturally throughout the roleplay.

The ones you'll find now are extremely short and boring because, quite frankly, I dislike the process and only spent about 15 minutes on it. However, you can critique them, of course, as an example.

Thank you so much for any help that you can provide.
