when i logged into the new chat i think a java window popped up, but i think i accidently closed out.
now whenever i type into the chat it says that im not connected. and when i press the connect button it says, permission denied.

so yeah.
im ticked.
any help here?

Well, from what I can tell, the 'new chat' (Which is in fact the old chat) is actually just temporary, but if you're still looking to get in, it appears that you just denied it with your browser. A simple restart of that (Closing it and reopening it) should allow you to get in next time. And if that itself doesn't work, restarting your whole computer would do it for sure, although going through that might be a hassle.

If neither of those options work, it's either that it's been denied access through a firewall or you just chose to not run Java when the option came up for you, in which case it's possible to set that back to, but I would need to know what browser you use to help you through that.

Hey... it wont show up on my internet. Though I just had a revolutionary thought of using explorer instead of firefox. I'll give that a go... but if it doesn't work...

Bring back the old chat! I'm actually starting to miss the chatbot!

The chat presents problems to me as well. When I open the chat tab, it says I must allow some ActivX thingy, so when I DO allow it, it opens the tab again, and asks me to validate some kind of install. I do that, and when I AGAIN open the tab, it says I must allow some ActivX thingy, and so on, and so forth. Internet Explorer 7-ish on Vista. Oh well, I'll wait for the new chat to be revealed.

Hm...I accientally just clicked "cancel" or something on the java pop up that you get when you log into the chat. And now I can't get on it... i think i've done the same as eternalfaithx
When i try to go on the chat I get this mesage:
Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.surrealchat.net resolve)

..so yeah. Anyone know how to fix it?

It's okay, I managed to get it working now.
Cause I downloaded firefox, so I got the little window back..and clicked the right thing. Yay!

+ megacya, the same thing happens to me. and even though im on a diff. computer now, the chat isn't coming up at all.
so i think its prlly just something as a whole and not just my computer. :/ i hope it will be fixed though.

eternalfaith, I'm sure no one meant to tick you off with this "internet smarty stuff," but I'd like to note that it's VERY easy to find out what things like that are by using Google or Wikipedia or something.

We are here to help you, but there are always other means to find things out if you don't know what they are or if you are too impatient to wait on an answer from us on the forum.

On the off chance that Firefox doesn't work for this, try an IRC client such as XChat or mIRC, which are almost guaranteed to work for you and even provide lots of added functionality. However, I'll spare the technical details of that until you find out whether the new Firefox works.
