This used to be a clan I ran once upon a time. This time around, it'll just be a RP.
A Tear Falls From HeavenWhen evil overcomes the land, tears fall from heaven. We are the fallen, those who have come to save this world. We are Heaven's Tears.History:
The world of Gaia was a place of balance and harmony. The people lived together in the Holy land of Garla, and there was a perfect balance of magic and technology within the community. Over time, certain people tended to favor magic and others favored technology. Only a select few kept the balance of nature. Eventually, a war broke out between the magic dominated people and the technology dominated people. The magic users started calling themselves the ‘Wizards’ and the technology users called themselves the ‘Techs’. The people who remained neutral were called the ‘Balanced’ by those involved in the war. The Balanced moved from the Holy land, escaping the meaningless battle. The war raged on for 1,000 years and was called ‘The War of the Gods’. The two races considered themselves to be the supreme group and fought to clarify who truly was supreme. The winning group would inherit the Holy land of Garla and reign supreme over the entire world of Gaia. For the first 600 years, the Techs had the upper hand, pushing the Wizards out of the Holy land and into unknown terrain. The Techs almost had the battle won, but as they pushed the Wizards into the surrounding forest, they became stronger, tapping into the natural magic energy that flowed though the forest. In the ‘Battle of Nature’, the Wizards gained a significant upper hand by using the depths of the forest maze and the advantage of the natural flow of magic energy to aid them in battle. The Wizards declared the forest a part of the Holy land and named it ‘The Forest of Life’. Gradually over the next 400 years, the Wizards overpowered the Techs with new, advanced magics from the forest. Finally, in the ‘Battle of Blood’, the Wizards took the Holy land, slaughtering over 50,000 Techs. The Techs left the Holy land, spreading across the world. The Wizards then considered themselves Supreme beings with the thought that they were “God-like” beings. It was then that they decided that, being supreme, they were a different race than the ‘weak’ Techs and the Balanced who fled from the war.
The world was then split into three races: the Wizards, the Techs and the Balanced. At first, there were little to no differences between the three, but over time, the differences became evident. Magic was no longer used in the Tech race and Technology was not used in the Wizard race. It was strictly forbidden, and anyone caught practicing the forbidden arts were killed. Eventually, the Techs no longer even had the ability to use magic, and the Wizards could not use technology. The Balanced kept their balance of both technology and magic, and were spread out all over the world. They were the rarest of the three races and the only race that did not live together in a specific part of the world. Their way of life was looked down upon, and if the other races found out that they were of the Balanced race, they were slaughtered.
Ten thousand years pass. Less than 1,000 people remain in the Balanced race. Most of the Balanced live on the outskirts of towns, never gathering in groups of more than fifty people. They were scattered across the lands, and because of this, some of the race adapted a little differently than the others in the way that some Balanced had a little more technology, some had a little more magic and some remained at a perfect balance between the two. They had become masters of hiding their race, and they would only enter towns to buy the necessities. They either worked as mercenaries in the black market or lived off the land.
The world of Gaia consists of three major continents and two minor islands. The main continent is Dellea and contains the Holy land of Garla. It is ruled by the Wizards, considered to be the capitol of the Wizard race, and no Techs live there. The second continent is Puria and is ruled by the Techs, and no Wizards live there. The third continent is Saminea, and is separated by a large mountain range. On the western side, the Techs reign, on the eastern side, the Wizards reign. The Isle of Prosperity is the first island. It is ruled by the Techs, and it is considered the capitol of the Tech race. The Sacred Isle is ruled by the Wizards and holds the base of all magical research done by their race. The Balanced were spread out between the three continents, but did not reside on either of the isles.
Both the Wizards and the Techs improved their skills and plotted to rid the world of their opposing race. The Wizards felt that they were not only the rightful owners of the Holy land, but that they were the chosen race, and that their task was to eliminate the weak and eventually become the only race in Gaia. The Techs held resentments about being pushed out of the Holy land, and they spent the last ten thousand years advancing their technology, pushing it to the max so that they could get revenge for their ancestors and their race, finally proving that in fact, the Techs were the supreme race, not the Wizards. The Techs felt that the Wizards had cheated them by using the Forest of Life’s energy force to gain the upper hand and eventually win the War of the Gods. After ten thousand years of peace, a war breaks out once again between the two races.
The God and the Goddess looked down on the world in disgust. The harmony had turned to chaos, and now the world was divided. They were hopeful that perhaps though the division of Gaia was a sad sight; it might have been what was needed to keep the people from fighting. As the war began, the sight of the people they created killing each other once again brought tears to their eyes. These tears fell from heaven in the form of holy rain, and as they fell for the Wizards and Techs, the rain washed over every Balanced home and nowhere else. In that moment, the Balanced became the chosen ones, the only ones who still walked the path that was laid out for them. To each of them came a vision from the Goddess. It was a vision of the world as it should be, and of the steps which would have to be taken to achieve this perfect Gaia. They were then told to complete the steps for they were the chosen ones and they were to return order to the divided world. The people were supposed to live together peacefully. There was not meant to be division in the world, and there was only supposed to be one balanced race. Things were to return to the way they were at the beginning of time.
When the Balanced awoke from their vision, they were confused. They did not understand how to achieve a task of such magnitude. The steps shown to them confused them. They were told to rebel against the masses, to destroy cities and fight against both sides in the war. They were told to use their master of disguise to manipulate the other races and they were told to be masters of the solitary art of an assassin. They were told to be like ninjas, to appear when necessary and disappear without a trace. They were told to use all their skills they had perfected because of having to stay in hiding. They were told never to group in more than ten people, and that being completely alone was the best advantage. The Balanced were fearful, and many did not truly wish to participate, but they would not dare to go against the word of the Goddess. They would fight, and they would win. They had to.

The object was to get an electrically charged ball into the scoring grid before the opposing team could steal the ball or the ball entered Electrocution Mode. It was a tricky sport that required skill and precise timing. The ball was a virtual time bomb and if no one scored within its countdown, it would shock the player holding it giving them temporary paralysis. This left the player vulnerable to being hit by an opposing team member.

This is the basic history of the world in which this RP takes place. The complete plot will be posted in the beginning of the RP. Everyone will obviously be of the Balanced race. Yes, this means you cannot use your current character. I know this might upset some of you, but the whole point in RP is to explore different worlds and different personalities. You will need to create a different character that fits into this world.
You cannot be of any race other than the Balanced, you cannot have more than the approximate of 65% technology or more than 65% magic. The whole point is to be as close to balanced as possible. You may not start on either of the islands because no Balanced live there. I don’t want anyone declaring that they are the only ones or anything along those lines. I want everyone to start in a different place. I do not want a big group of people parading around together. Some towns will be named and some will be left up to you to decide, but I do not want any famous town names (IE: You can’t call the town New York) and I’d like to stay as far away from video game and/or anime rip offs as well. This is going to be an original RP with an original world and original characters. (Though Gaia is used in FFIX, that is not where it originated from and that is not why I’m using it.)
Let me lay down a few guidelines. First, the obvious. No god-modding or all powerful characters that can destroy every enemy with a single blow and can run at the speed of light. Also, your character is pretty much human with more advanced technology and magical powers. No wings, no tail, no cat ears, no dragons, no ten feet tall, no three inches tall, no third eye… the list goes on and on. Your character looks human. The only thing I will allow is purple hair and neon green eyes. You’re hair color and eye color don’t matter to me. Again, your character is similar to a human, so no 5,698,701,367,897 year old characters. You need to be within actual human capabilities. If you want to be 100, go right ahead, but I’d expect your character to be in a wheelchair pretty much incapable of moving. Also, when I say technologically advanced, remember, this isn’t earth. No computers or airplanes or a few other things. I’ll go more into detail on what technology is available to the Techs and how much of that technology is available to the Balanced later. Just a simple guideline when thinking about your character’s technology; for weapon, you can’t say rocket launcher or nuclear bombs. Their technology is more along the lines of guns and smaller weaponry. When I say guns, I don’t mean an AK-47 either. Like I said, I’ll explain that in depth later.
One of my rules will also be to try not to post anything less than 400 words. This is one of the reasons I am discouraging large grouping in this RP. You can’t carry on a conversation without controlling someone else’s character in 400 words unless you really try super hard. You can work together on posts, if you'd like. Besides, 400 words isn’t much. It’s not even a full page on word. One of the forums I used to RP in asked that you post at least 800 words per post. At least I’m not asking for that. Another thing, do not use asterisks (*) in your posts. That is what the italics tag is for, but please don’t overuse it. Asterisks are for AIM, not an RP. Pretend you are writing a story that is going to be published and everyone is going to see it. Attempt to use proper grammar, sentence structure, and spell check. Spell check is your friend. Oh, and be sure to use paragraphs and start a new paragraph when a new person speaks.
Now, as for your character profiles. They need to follow this format and I ask that you post it here instead of the actual thread. The actual thread will be posted up, as I said, in about two weeks or less. Any OOC information will be posted here as well. I want the thread to be nothing but the storyline.

I’ll post mine up a little later. Another thing. You can use more than one character. If you want two, go right ahead. Just make it clear which character you are posting about and make obvious markings when you switch from character to character in a post.
I will control all of the major changes in the story. Please don’t go and annihilate one of the islands without my say so. I will post the story as I see fit. My character will be separate from story development, but don’t take over and decide you’re going to blow up the Holy land. Small, insignificant towns and such, well, alright. But nothing that would drastically change the storyline.
Alright, on to the technology and magic of this world. Let’s start with technology. The Tech world, which has been separate from the Wizard population for ten thousand years now, have advanced in extreme ways. They now have armor that protects against the lower forms of magic. They have gone past ID cards and now have identification chips inserted into their skin, usually in the back side of the neck. It works somewhat like a barcode. Wherever they go in the Tech world, they are scanned and all of their information, criminal record, money and land they own, anything and everything can be seen with this chip. It cuts fraud down to a minimum. Fake chips can be found on the black market, but they are easy to spot as a fake. They only way to get someone else’s information is to take their chip from their body, but if you don’t kill them, all they have to do is report it and all of the information will then be invalid. This inevitably leads to a large amount of assassination attempts on the rich population, meaning there is a high crime rate. They own large battleships made of steel with cannons and heavy artillery. I know I said no computers, but they do have a computer system, it’s just not like ours. Their computer system keeps the information of everything in the Tech world. Anything a Tech does is transmitted back to the master computers, which are located in several places though out the Tech world to prevent someone from destroying them. These chips are placed in them as babies, and everything they do is recorded. However, on the black market, they sell blocks that were originally made for government purposes that will stop the chip from submitting certain information. Their weaponry is quite advanced as well. They have bombs that can break though a magic barrier; they have bullets that can break though solid steel, they even have a small base of chemical weapons. The black market has some interesting things as well. They carry armor that is resistant to mid level magic and bullets that break though the strongest magic barrier. In short, the Techs are very close to being resistant to most magic and they have ways of breaking though most magical barriers. They wear only a small amount of clothing, usually covering only their private areas, but those in the army wear full body armor and oversized helmets.
Enough about the Techs for now. On to the magic of this world. The Wizards have also advanced. The main government has been doing much research on the Sacred Isle, and they have tapped into the natural energy of the earth. They have mastered spells of every element, and a group called the elite have mastered some non-elemental magics that can break though magic armor. They also have an extensive black market, filled with bulletproof armor and powerful magic weapons. The government is extremely corrupt, and they have been damaging Gaia on their quest for magic energies. On the continent Saminea, the mountain range seems to have unexplainable magic energies floating in the atmosphere, and in result were named the Magiceria Mountains. Because of that, there have been countless experiments done there as well, resulting in much of the newer magic. It is said that no one can live there because of the power of the energy. It can mess with your body chemicals and in theory eventually kill you. Several Wizards have gone and were never seen again, but if they really died or not is unknown. Being that the Wizards have no technology, it’s hard for them to get around. They have large wooden boats to move across the oceans, but they are very dangerous if a storm breaks out. They live in houses made of wood and stone, and their streets are all undeveloped dirt paths. Much of their land is covered in trees and wildlife. They have great temples made of stone and jewels where the citizens go to pray for magic power and victory in the war. The king of the Wizard world is Kendolas, and there are large statues of him in front of every temple. He is worshiped all though out the Wizard world and his location is unknown. On rare occasions, he makes an appearance to the people, and only the richest of the Wizards attend. Paintings of him are sold at outrageously high prices. It is the only way other than journeying to the temples to see what he looks like. The people mostly wear long robes, usually colored according to their element, but the elite wear velvet purple robes, and are highly respected.
Now, as for the Balanced and what they are capable of. Some of this has to do with your tech/magic ratio; some of it has to do with which continent you come from. Now, I would hope that everyone’s ratio is corresponding with the population of the continent you live on. Those of you who stayed completely balanced, the continent doesn’t matter. In regards to Saminea, it depends on which side you live on. I hope no one lives deep in the Magiceria Mountains, if so, you must move. You can live at the base on one side or the other, but not deep in the mountains. There are reasons for that which will be revealed during the RP. Let’s start with more tech than magic. This gives you access to more powerful weaponry, stronger shields and an advantage when in an area that has an anti-magic field. There will be places with anti magic fields, so remember that. Magically infused weaponry will become just a normal weapon, any shields made of magic become useless, and of course, you cannot use magic. You also won’t have very powerful magic if you have more tech. If you have more magic than tech, you will not have access to the more advanced weaponry, but you will be very powerful with magic and can make good use out of magical items and infused weaponry. Non-elemental magics are not available to you though, so don’t let me see you casting ultima or anything. Stick with the elementals, and your chosen element is where your power lies. Those of you in the middle have the best of both worlds, but aren’t extremely advanced in either. Technically, you would have the best advantage because when magic isn’t available you can use your technology and vice versa.
Another thing: Wizards are usually short, never exceeding 5’5’’; Techs are tall, up to 7’5’’ and the Balanced lie between these two heights.
