A Tear Falls From Heaven

When evil overcomes the land, tears fall from heaven. We are the fallen, those who have come to save this world. We are Heaven's Tears.

History:

The world of Gaia was a place of balance and harmony. The people lived together in the Holy land of Garla, and there was a perfect balance of magic and technology within the community. Over time, certain people tended to favor magic and others favored technology. Only a select few kept the balance of nature. Eventually, a war broke out between the magic dominated people and the technology dominated people. The magic users started calling themselves the ‘Wizards’ and the technology users called themselves the ‘Techs’. The people who remained neutral were called the ‘Balanced’ by those involved in the war. The Balanced moved from the Holy land, escaping the meaningless battle. The war raged on for 1,000 years and was called ‘The War of the Gods’. The two races considered themselves to be the supreme group and fought to clarify who truly was supreme. The winning group would inherit the Holy land of Garla and reign supreme over the entire world of Gaia. For the first 600 years, the Techs had the upper hand, pushing the Wizards out of the Holy land and into unknown terrain. The Techs almost had the battle won, but as they pushed the Wizards into the surrounding forest, they became stronger, tapping into the natural magic energy that flowed though the forest. In the ‘Battle of Nature’, the Wizards gained a significant upper hand by using the depths of the forest maze and the advantage of the natural flow of magic energy to aid them in battle. The Wizards declared the forest a part of the Holy land and named it ‘The Forest of Life’. Gradually over the next 400 years, the Wizards overpowered the Techs with new, advanced magics from the forest. Finally, in the ‘Battle of Blood’, the Wizards took the Holy land, slaughtering over 50,000 Techs. The Techs left the Holy land, spreading across the world. The Wizards then considered themselves Supreme beings with the thought that they were “God-like” beings. It was then that they decided that, being supreme, they were a different race than the ‘weak’ Techs and the Balanced who fled from the war.

The world was then split into three races: the Wizards, the Techs and the Balanced. At first, there were little to no differences between the three, but over time, the differences became evident. Magic was no longer used in the Tech race and Technology was not used in the Wizard race. It was strictly forbidden, and anyone caught practicing the forbidden arts were killed. Eventually, the Techs no longer even had the ability to use magic, and the Wizards could not use technology. The Balanced kept their balance of both technology and magic, and were spread out all over the world. They were the rarest of the three races and the only race that did not live together in a specific part of the world. Their way of life was looked down upon, and if the other races found out that they were of the Balanced race, they were slaughtered.

Ten thousand years pass. Less than 1,000 people remain in the Balanced race. Most of the Balanced live on the outskirts of towns, never gathering in groups of more than fifty people. They were scattered across the lands, and because of this, some of the race adapted a little differently than the others in the way that some Balanced had a little more technology, some had a little more magic and some remained at a perfect balance between the two. They had become masters of hiding their race, and they would only enter towns to buy the necessities. They either worked as mercenaries in the black market or lived off the land.

The world of Gaia consists of three major continents and two minor islands. The main continent is Dellea and contains the Holy land of Garla. It is ruled by the Wizards, considered to be the capitol of the Wizard race, and no Techs live there. The second continent is Puria and is ruled by the Techs, and no Wizards live there. The third continent is Saminea, and is separated by a large mountain range. On the western side, the Techs reign, on the eastern side, the Wizards reign. The Isle of Prosperity is the first island. It is ruled by the Techs, and it is considered the capitol of the Tech race. The Sacred Isle is ruled by the Wizards and holds the base of all magical research done by their race. The Balanced were spread out between the three continents, but did not reside on either of the isles.

Both the Wizards and the Techs improved their skills and plotted to rid the world of their opposing race. The Wizards felt that they were not only the rightful owners of the Holy land, but that they were the chosen race, and that their task was to eliminate the weak and eventually become the only race in Gaia. The Techs held resentments about being pushed out of the Holy land, and they spent the last ten thousand years advancing their technology, pushing it to the max so that they could get revenge for their ancestors and their race, finally proving that in fact, the Techs were the supreme race, not the Wizards. The Techs felt that the Wizards had cheated them by using the Forest of Life’s energy force to gain the upper hand and eventually win the War of the Gods. After ten thousand years of peace, a war breaks out once again between the two races.

The God and the Goddess looked down on the world in disgust. The harmony had turned to chaos, and now the world was divided. They were hopeful that perhaps though the division of Gaia was a sad sight; it might have been what was needed to keep the people from fighting. As the war began, the sight of the people they created killing each other once again brought tears to their eyes. These tears fell from heaven in the form of holy rain, and as they fell for the Wizards and Techs, the rain washed over every Balanced home and nowhere else. In that moment, the Balanced became the chosen ones, the only ones who still walked the path that was laid out for them. To each of them came a vision from the Goddess. It was a vision of the world as it should be, and of the steps which would have to be taken to achieve this perfect Gaia. They were then told to complete the steps for they were the chosen ones and they were to return order to the divided world. The people were supposed to live together peacefully. There was not meant to be division in the world, and there was only supposed to be one balanced race. Things were to return to the way they were at the beginning of time.

When the Balanced awoke from their vision, they were confused. They did not understand how to achieve a task of such magnitude. The steps shown to them confused them. They were told to rebel against the masses, to destroy cities and fight against both sides in the war. They were told to use their master of disguise to manipulate the other races and they were told to be masters of the solitary art of an assassin. They were told to be like ninjas, to appear when necessary and disappear without a trace. They were told to use all their skills they had perfected because of having to stay in hiding. They were told never to group in more than ten people, and that being completely alone was the best advantage. The Balanced were fearful, and many did not truly wish to participate, but they would not dare to go against the word of the Goddess. They would fight, and they would win. They had to.

The object was to get an electrically charged ball into the scoring grid before the opposing team could steal the ball or the ball entered Electrocution Mode. It was a tricky sport that required skill and precise timing. The ball was a virtual time bomb and if no one scored within its countdown, it would shock the player holding it giving them temporary paralysis. This left the player vulnerable to being hit by an opposing team member.
Wild Cat - A topless Bar with exotic dancing in Alexander.

This is the basic history of the world in which this RP takes place. The complete plot will be posted in the beginning of the RP. Everyone will obviously be of the Balanced race. Yes, this means you cannot use your current character. I know this might upset some of you, but the whole point in RP is to explore different worlds and different personalities. You will need to create a different character that fits into this world. You cannot be of any race other than the Balanced, you cannot have more than the approximate of 65% technology or more than 65% magic. The whole point is to be as close to balanced as possible. You may not start on either of the islands because no Balanced live there. I don’t want anyone declaring that they are the only ones or anything along those lines. I want everyone to start in a different place. I do not want a big group of people parading around together. Some towns will be named and some will be left up to you to decide, but I do not want any famous town names (IE: You can’t call the town New York) and I’d like to stay as far away from video game and/or anime rip offs as well. This is going to be an original RP with an original world and original characters. (Though Gaia is used in FFIX, that is not where it originated from and that is not why I’m using it.)

Let me lay down a few guidelines. First, the obvious. No god-modding or all powerful characters that can destroy every enemy with a single blow and can run at the speed of light. Also, your character is pretty much human with more advanced technology and magical powers. No wings, no tail, no cat ears, no dragons, no ten feet tall, no three inches tall, no third eye… the list goes on and on. Your character looks human. The only thing I will allow is purple hair and neon green eyes. You’re hair color and eye color don’t matter to me. Again, your character is similar to a human, so no 5,698,701,367,897 year old characters. You need to be within actual human capabilities. If you want to be 100, go right ahead, but I’d expect your character to be in a wheelchair pretty much incapable of moving. Also, when I say technologically advanced, remember, this isn’t earth. No computers or airplanes or a few other things. I’ll go more into detail on what technology is available to the Techs and how much of that technology is available to the Balanced later. Just a simple guideline when thinking about your character’s technology; for weapon, you can’t say rocket launcher or nuclear bombs. Their technology is more along the lines of guns and smaller weaponry. When I say guns, I don’t mean an AK-47 either. Like I said, I’ll explain that in depth later.

One of my rules will also be to try not to post anything less than 400 words. This is one of the reasons I am discouraging large grouping in this RP. You can’t carry on a conversation without controlling someone else’s character in 400 words unless you really try super hard. You can work together on posts, if you'd like. Besides, 400 words isn’t much. It’s not even a full page on word. One of the forums I used to RP in asked that you post at least 800 words per post. At least I’m not asking for that. Another thing, do not use asterisks (*) in your posts. That is what the italics tag is for, but please don’t overuse it. Asterisks are for AIM, not an RP. Pretend you are writing a story that is going to be published and everyone is going to see it. Attempt to use proper grammar, sentence structure, and spell check. Spell check is your friend. Oh, and be sure to use paragraphs and start a new paragraph when a new person speaks.

Now, as for your character profiles. They need to follow this format and I ask that you post it here instead of the actual thread. The actual thread will be posted up, as I said, in about two weeks or less. Any OOC information will be posted here as well. I want the thread to be nothing but the storyline.

I’ll post mine up a little later. Another thing. You can use more than one character. If you want two, go right ahead. Just make it clear which character you are posting about and make obvious markings when you switch from character to character in a post.

I will control all of the major changes in the story. Please don’t go and annihilate one of the islands without my say so. I will post the story as I see fit. My character will be separate from story development, but don’t take over and decide you’re going to blow up the Holy land. Small, insignificant towns and such, well, alright. But nothing that would drastically change the storyline.

Alright, on to the technology and magic of this world. Let’s start with technology. The Tech world, which has been separate from the Wizard population for ten thousand years now, have advanced in extreme ways. They now have armor that protects against the lower forms of magic. They have gone past ID cards and now have identification chips inserted into their skin, usually in the back side of the neck. It works somewhat like a barcode. Wherever they go in the Tech world, they are scanned and all of their information, criminal record, money and land they own, anything and everything can be seen with this chip. It cuts fraud down to a minimum. Fake chips can be found on the black market, but they are easy to spot as a fake. They only way to get someone else’s information is to take their chip from their body, but if you don’t kill them, all they have to do is report it and all of the information will then be invalid. This inevitably leads to a large amount of assassination attempts on the rich population, meaning there is a high crime rate. They own large battleships made of steel with cannons and heavy artillery. I know I said no computers, but they do have a computer system, it’s just not like ours. Their computer system keeps the information of everything in the Tech world. Anything a Tech does is transmitted back to the master computers, which are located in several places though out the Tech world to prevent someone from destroying them. These chips are placed in them as babies, and everything they do is recorded. However, on the black market, they sell blocks that were originally made for government purposes that will stop the chip from submitting certain information. Their weaponry is quite advanced as well. They have bombs that can break though a magic barrier; they have bullets that can break though solid steel, they even have a small base of chemical weapons. The black market has some interesting things as well. They carry armor that is resistant to mid level magic and bullets that break though the strongest magic barrier. In short, the Techs are very close to being resistant to most magic and they have ways of breaking though most magical barriers. They wear only a small amount of clothing, usually covering only their private areas, but those in the army wear full body armor and oversized helmets.

Enough about the Techs for now. On to the magic of this world. The Wizards have also advanced. The main government has been doing much research on the Sacred Isle, and they have tapped into the natural energy of the earth. They have mastered spells of every element, and a group called the elite have mastered some non-elemental magics that can break though magic armor. They also have an extensive black market, filled with bulletproof armor and powerful magic weapons. The government is extremely corrupt, and they have been damaging Gaia on their quest for magic energies. On the continent Saminea, the mountain range seems to have unexplainable magic energies floating in the atmosphere, and in result were named the Magiceria Mountains. Because of that, there have been countless experiments done there as well, resulting in much of the newer magic. It is said that no one can live there because of the power of the energy. It can mess with your body chemicals and in theory eventually kill you. Several Wizards have gone and were never seen again, but if they really died or not is unknown. Being that the Wizards have no technology, it’s hard for them to get around. They have large wooden boats to move across the oceans, but they are very dangerous if a storm breaks out. They live in houses made of wood and stone, and their streets are all undeveloped dirt paths. Much of their land is covered in trees and wildlife. They have great temples made of stone and jewels where the citizens go to pray for magic power and victory in the war. The king of the Wizard world is Kendolas, and there are large statues of him in front of every temple. He is worshiped all though out the Wizard world and his location is unknown. On rare occasions, he makes an appearance to the people, and only the richest of the Wizards attend. Paintings of him are sold at outrageously high prices. It is the only way other than journeying to the temples to see what he looks like. The people mostly wear long robes, usually colored according to their element, but the elite wear velvet purple robes, and are highly respected.

Now, as for the Balanced and what they are capable of. Some of this has to do with your tech/magic ratio; some of it has to do with which continent you come from. Now, I would hope that everyone’s ratio is corresponding with the population of the continent you live on. Those of you who stayed completely balanced, the continent doesn’t matter. In regards to Saminea, it depends on which side you live on. I hope no one lives deep in the Magiceria Mountains, if so, you must move. You can live at the base on one side or the other, but not deep in the mountains. There are reasons for that which will be revealed during the RP. Let’s start with more tech than magic. This gives you access to more powerful weaponry, stronger shields and an advantage when in an area that has an anti-magic field. There will be places with anti magic fields, so remember that. Magically infused weaponry will become just a normal weapon, any shields made of magic become useless, and of course, you cannot use magic. You also won’t have very powerful magic if you have more tech. If you have more magic than tech, you will not have access to the more advanced weaponry, but you will be very powerful with magic and can make good use out of magical items and infused weaponry. Non-elemental magics are not available to you though, so don’t let me see you casting ultima or anything. Stick with the elementals, and your chosen element is where your power lies. Those of you in the middle have the best of both worlds, but aren’t extremely advanced in either. Technically, you would have the best advantage because when magic isn’t available you can use your technology and vice versa.

Another thing: Wizards are usually short, never exceeding 5’5’’; Techs are tall, up to 7’5’’ and the Balanced lie between these two heights.

Name:Cuirass Styx
Age:21
Starting Continent:The forest at the base of Magiceria Mountains
Eye Color:Red
Hair Color:Dark Blue
Height:5'7"
Weight:185 lbs.

Percentage Magic:35%
Percentage Technology:65%
Element:Darkness

Weapon(s):A stolen standard issue high caliber sniper rifle from a Tech soldier that started scouting near his house and a set of knives and daggers.

Personality:Silent but kind and friendly. He doesn't really like to talk but he never fails to let anyone know if they are ever in danger. His eyes tell his emotions and his hair tells his mood. He usually has his hair frumpy and usually uncombed. If he's happy or excited, strands of his hair tend to rise up and wave around in a swaying pattern. If he's sad, his hair falls down like water and nearly covers his face. If he gets angry, his hair stands up on end and somewhat vibrates according to the intensity of his anger.

History:Cuirass Styx, an orphan since the age of sixteen. His mother and father were exploring the mountains of Magiceria as their second honeymoon and haven't returned since then. Three years later, he was a self supporting person living as a woodcutter and making use of his darkness manipulation abilities he inherited from his parents. Although he has control over darkness, it only affects a small area around him which only engulfs a half meter radius surrounding him in pure darkness. He can also use this power as camouflage by turning his skin so dark that he looks like a shadow. He has encountered several Wizards and saw that his magical power won't even touch a single strand of hair against them. One day, a Tech sniper started scouting near his house. He felt threatened and took a few knives with him and waited for night. The Tech sniper held his position a few meters away from his house but since Cuirass had the advantage of familiarity with the forest, he had the element of surprise and sneaked up behind the Tech and plunged several daggers on the Tech taking it by surprise. Cuirass used his remaining dagger and stabbed the Tech repeatedly until it was dead. He took the Tech's weapons and other supplies. After a few weeks, Cuirass finally thought about how the Techs might know of his deeds against one of their soldiers so he took his cloak, his hunting bag and other necessary paraphernalia and set off for the Black Market to get more supplies and hopefully lay low and defend himself from the Techs.

Is this okay? But I must say, this Rp is very well planned. I like it very much. It's been a while since I've seen anything so original and well planned. Good job.

Nice profile, but if you could, please alter your tech percentage to 65%. Maybe I should bold that part. It's up to 65% for either.

I'm glad you like it! I'm hoping for a good turn-out. This RP has an extensive history and it's one of my favorites to run.

A very long time ago, yes. It used to be a clan, Heaven's Tears, and our star RP was A Tear Falls from Heaven. I've restarted it here as just an RP.

My old profile. I'll be using her this time around, too.

Name: Kitara Medillea
Age: 25
Starting Continent: Dellea
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Silver
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 130lbs

Percentage Magic: 65
Percentage Technology: 35
Element: Light

Weapon(s): A pair of crystal Sai with sharpened points, a small, sheathed dagger hidden between her breasts.

Personality: Kitara has a dark personality. She's not the friendliest of people, and she has been known to do extremely cruel things for money. She is closed off, and she usually keeps to herself.

History: Kitara Medillea lives near the Holy land of Garla, deep within the Forest of Life. Her parents were slain in Garla when they were discovered to be Balanced when Kitara was ten years old. She has lived on her own since, living off the wildlife of the forest and using the magical energies of the forest to stay hidden. Because of the energies of the forest, she has become stronger with her magic, and her technology has dimmed. She's somewhat of a barbarian because of the lack of people surrounding her, but she can speak and act somewhat civilized because of her odd jobs working as a mercenary in the black market. She has become accustomed to living in the wild, and even if she had the choice, she would still stay deep in the forest, away from the people she hated. She can't stand people and their lust for being the best and their material ways. She has no friends, and she'd like to keep it that way. She has strayed from every person in the world, even her own race, and she feels that she will never find someone who thinks like she does.

Read Me

It was pointed out to me that I should add more detail on the Tech in this world.

As previously mentioned, they have identification chips inserted in them when they are young, located in the back of their necks that hold all of their information - where they live, how much money they have and so on. On the black market, there are blocks for sale that will alter the chip to not submit certain information. For instance, one could leave the continent and the chip would not register the information. The only way to get one of these chips is to cut it from a body - no exceptions! Thus, there is a high crime rate, especially concerning the rich, as one must kill the person if they don't want their crime reported. It is said that there is a chip being developed that recognizes its owner's DNA, but it is not available to the public yet.

On to the weapons.

There are a number of things available to the Techs on Gaia. One of the more interesting things I have seen having ran this RP before is a staff-like weapon that holds a kinetic energy charge. They have a small arsenal of guns, but they typically hold bullets that are meant for shattering magic effects and fields. They have a full understanding of electricity and how to use it effectively. Many police officers carry non-lethal weaponry that consists of giving a small electrical charge in addition to the more traditional lethal weaponry.

More interesting weapons can be found on the Black Market. These variations run rampant in the Tech world and can be more dangerous. Remember that the Black Market is pretty indifferent between the races - they just want to turn a profit. So they carry magical items along side tech items. It is not uncommon to see a bastardized mix of both in a weapon. Swords with concentrated magic held within the blade are extremely popular, since the weapon can be used normally in an anti-magic field and can be extra deadly outside of one. They have a command of steel, and they have bombs that carry an anti-magic field that can render a full ten miles a no magic zone, as well as a fairly impressive explosion. They have anti-magic armor that can stop low and mid level magic, and on the Black Market, there are some that can even stop some of the higher level magics.

Be creative when coming up with weaponry - try to avoid the average run-of-the-mill Earth weapons, as they are a different world who has evolved differently.

Hopefully this is a little more comprehensive. Feel free to ask questions.

Postby Xemba on Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:12 pm

Name: Clyde Oakheart
Age: 52
Starting Continent: Gonila
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: White
Height: 6'2
Weight: 185 lbs

Percentage Magic: 60%
Percentage Technology: 40%
Element: Water

Weapon(s): a small silver mace attached to his belt for carrying. This mace can gather water from around it to form a barrier of ice. This barrier of ice allows for heavier spiking. This mace was rather cheap on the Black Market, but that is because it is rather weak. Clyde is not a man of violence.

Personality: He wants nothing more than peace. He is almost like a priest in the way he talks. He wonders about the concept of 'belief' during the time of war.

History: Clyde was born in a small hut deep in the woods south of Gonila. He was raised there, and his mother constantly told him stories of the Wizards and the Techs. He enjoyed them alot as he thought they were old stories as a child. He didn't know that is was a reality. When he was six, the Wizards found out that his mother was a Balanced. His mother was murdered, and there hut was burned down as she did everything she could to hide Clyde away from the Wizards.

Clyde managed to survive in the wilderness for a year before he nearly starved to death. It was then he saw a small Wizard child that had gotten lost. The child was crying, but it had some sort of food with it. Clyde found out that it was fruit as he stole it from the child hiding his face. Clyde felt terrible that night as he cried himself to sleep. He hated the world he lived in of being unable to escape this small wilderness. He had never seen a Tech in his life nor had he seen any dangerous Wizards. Clyde just wanted them to get along for once.

Clyde grew up over the years making peace with the nature at hand. He built himself a small hut to live in, similar to the one that his mother had. It was then that he decided to tap deeper into nature as the Wizards did. Would it corrupt him? As Clyde experimented with magic near a river, controlling water, and the such; he knew that he wanted to learn the other side of the story here.

He ventured into the black market of the Wizards at the age of 17. He was incredibly nervous with a sense of panic in his heart. He bought his mace that could absorb an element around it. Well that's all he found out. During other experiments with the mace he had it shoot out, and it did other Tech like things. This mace was a mystery to him, but he used it to get some insite. He wished he could know what the Wizards and the Techs were really even arguing about. His mother never explained that to him when he was small, and he never found out.

He built a large hut that intertwined with itself using malevolent wood and leaves along the riverside. Clyde lived in this hut for most of his life. He is now quite old still having made no difference in the world he lived in. He just wanted to reach out.

I have been astonished that Men could die Martyrs for religion
I have shudder'd at it - I shudder no more
I could be martyr'd for my Religion
Love is my religion
I could die for that
I could die for you.
My Creed is Love and you are its only tenet.

Name: Sen Akino
Age: Twenty four
Starting Continent: Dellea
Eye Color: Turquoise
Hair Color: Gray/Brown
Height: 6'1
Weight: 217 Lbs.
General Description: He is not exactly tall, though neither is he short. He forms a good median between the two, like he does in many things. His hair is not exactly a pronounced color, though it is naturally brown. His eyes, neither green nor blue, are instead Turquoise. He is not lean, nor is he overly muscular or fat, and his voice is not deep or light. He is, in so many words, Balanced.

Percentage Magic: 50%
Percentage Technology: 50%
Element: Wind

Weapon(s): Carries a Lute, if it can be considered a weapon. He also has a basic non-magical rifle (Blunderbuss). (Explained in history)

Personality: Continuing his pattern of being mostly unremarkable, is apathetic to most things. He doesn't have any particularly interesting traits, aside from that he remains calm under most circumstances, even those that most people might find terribly uncomfortable, or otherwise permit some sort of powerful emotion, which he seems to lack. He has however been a rather happy individual, and is not known to let things trouble him for very long.

History: Born and raised in Dellea, Sen's parents both still held true to the Balance in it's entirety; they believed that only through the harmony of both the Technological aspects of man-made creation, and the magical aspects of the planet and nature. He was raised on the outskirts of a smaller town in the country, his hair being brown in his younger years, and he was quite the free spirited child, despite never leaving his parent's land. As he began to grow older though, his hair turned an odd hue of gray, as if aging before his time. His personality likewise became much more dull in nature.
Around his sixteenth year of life, his father for the first time took him into the town. His father was a lesser known Bard, playing for money and occasionally for weddings, parties, and other things of that sort. His first trip into the purely magical society was a bit shocking, to say the least. The culture was entirely different than that of which he had been brought up under. It was almost unfathomable to him. However, his experience in the city was limited at first. He came with his father whenever he needed work, and learned to juggle, dance, and throw objects fairly well, in order to supplement his father's work.
When he turned eighteen, he started going on his own, and, with his parent's permission, taking the family Lute and playing for money. Most of this he spent on whatever the family needed at the time, but secretly, he was saving up his money. For several years he worked most days, saving up his money, and giving his parents a rather privileged life in the meantime. By the time he turned twenty four, he was fairly well known in the City.
This however, permitted some investigation. One day, as he entered the city, he was stalked by a group of spies that suspected him to be one of the Balanced. In an alleyway he usually went through to his usual location, they casually encircled him and asked him to play. Not expecting more than perhaps one of those lucrative deals his father used to get, play he did; and the group slowly drew closer. Without warning, they jumped him, pinning him to the ground and searching him. Finding no identification, they asked him what magical school he went to. Having never heard of this, he replied with Fire, thinking perhaps they would not ask him to demonstrate in the confines of the alley.
He was mistaken. Upon being asked, he did the only thing he could; tried to cast magic. Failing this, he retrieved his Lute, and smashed it into the face of the nearest assailant. Fleeing from the remainder, he managed to lose them in the marketplace. He had never known fear of being robbed, and kept most of his savings on him in case he saw something that particularly caught his eye; and so, here, in the middle of what may soon prove to be a hostile city, he saw something he could use.
The Market he had found proved to be the Black market. Seeing the man having been out of breath and running from others, an old merchant approached him, and revealed to him a small device, round in shape, black, and with several knobs and buttons on it. When questioned about it the old man simply grinned, his teeth gleaming, and replied that it would help him, if he could afford it. Being still naive, he believed the man and gave him much of his savings for the small device. Feeling perhaps pity for the younger man, and knowing that he did face true danger, he gave him also an older model of rifle, bolt action and requiring loading after each shot, of which he was provided a pouch of, with powder. Grateful to the man, he fled the city, however did not leave unnoticed, given the Rifle in nearly plain view.
The remaining spies trailed him home this time. Upon reaching his home, it being quite late in the day now, his parents greeted him, shocked to find him with a weapon. Explaining himself breathlessly, he soon found his parents had known this may have happened; both returned with rifles, albeit more modern than his own. They told him to run, but instead, he showed them the device he had bought. However, his father looked upon him with pity, explaining that he had been the object of a swindling, which was all too common in cities. Not with wrath he told his son to flee once more, this time heeded as he left, the family Lute still strung to his back, a bag of shot and black powder on his hip, and a rifle in hand. Fleeing, he could hear the sounds of weapons fire behind him, soon snuffed out. Not far away he turned, seeing behind him the burning silhouette of the only home he had ever known. He turned, continued to run wearily, tears now streaming from his eyes to leave a pattern in the dirt that would soon be lost.

There you go, hope you like it! I hope the history isn't too cliche or anything, or, well, his general person. And I didn't state him using his magic because he hasn't exactly found out he has it yet. So, aye! There you go.

Felicus ‘Fellie’ Spera
25
Small town called Gris near an Earth Temple in the mountains.
Eye Color: Hazel brown
Hair Color: Sandy brown
Height: 5’7
Weight: 131

General Description: She has darker skin then most and an athletic build due to the long hours she spends working in the sun on the farm. Her sandy brown hair is naturally curly and has since locked up into shoulder-length dreads. Her skin is rough and weathered and her hands are calloused. She usually can be found wearing men’s clothing, vanity not her top priority. Except for the early hours of the morning and right before bed, she is always covered in dirt or smut.
Percentage Magic: 50%
Percentage Technology: 50%
Element: Earth

Weapon(s): Two small daggers that are held onto her thighs in worn leather sheaths. She also carries around a shotgun. Neither of these weapons have been used other then to aid her in farm work. After she leaves her home, she will infuse her daggers with magic allowing them to poison her opponent if the blade breaks through the skin.

Personality: It would be hard to describe Felicus as parts of her personality which she finds undesirable are suppressed. She does her best to only allow herself to be seen as she sees fit. Felicus portrays a kind, introvert who always takes inconsideration every little thing. A woman of very few words yet profound thought. She is dedicated to prove her good-hearted will to all of those around her and maybe even herself.

History: Alex and Jordan were a couple from a large city on the Isle of Prosperity. A spontaneous marriage that no one believed would last. 10 years of marital bliss was a surprise to everyone who knew the two; Jordan a loud and brash young man who had dreams of joining the army had toned down for the sweet yet seductive Alex. One thing that seemed to be missing from their fairytale relationship was a child to call their own. It was under the assumption that Alex’s petite body couldn’t handle both her needs and her unborn child which resulted in several miscarriages over the years. The two decided it simply wasn’t in the Gods’ plans to grant them an offspring. By that time, Jordan had become a respected officer in the Tech Army and Alex became a brilliant blacksmith who assembled guns and other weaponry.

At the age of 40, Alex became pregnant once again. She hid the news from her husband, knowing all too well the result of the growing life within her womb. She went on for three months in silence. Explaining the morning sickness as common viruses and the weight gain was due to her age. She tried not to get her hopes up as the healthy child continued to grow. By the fourth month, she felt like she was going insane as she began to feel the little life force move as if to prove her previous beliefs wrong. She allowed herself to let go and accepted that she had finally gotten her wish. She was going to have her first child.

Elated, she contacted every friend and family member she could. She couldn’t wait to plan another baby shower, only this time there would actually be a baby. When Jordan returned from a business trip, she cried tears of joys as she tried to communicate the miracle that had happened.

Jordan was in an awkward position. Now 43, he felt too old to raise a child. He was happy for Alex, who had always wanted to be a mother, but felt that this ‘blessing,’ as she referred to it, had come too late. He distanced himself, often taking later jobs, farther from home, more often. He defended his behavior with excuses that working more hours would bring in more money and allow him take a vacation after the baby was born.

He fought the urge to ask her to get rid of the child as his irritation grew with Alex’s naivety. Though the baby was clearly healthy, she was not. As her stomach grew, her lips were constantly cracked; her beautiful brown hair fell out in clumps whenever she washed it; fatigue and sleep ruled her days while nausea ruled the nights; and her weight had dropped drastically. Even the doctors disagreed with her decision to not abort the baby despite her failing health. Jordan was disgusted with her appearance and often lied about where he was as to steal a few more hours away from her. After all, the only thing that would be waiting for him when he got home was Alex struggling to stand on her feet before rushing to the restroom ending in long nights of the sound of her retching over the toilet.

Jordan had been missing for weeks when Alex was found unconscious in her home by a concerned friend. She was dehydrated and malnourished when they took her into medical care. Her only sister Angie, coming from a small town in Saminea called Gris, arrived after receiving word of Alex‘s delicate condition.

After the police found Jordan’s burned remains, Alex’s mental health took a turn for the worst. It turned out Jordan had been mugged and killed. He had been targeted due to his wealth, his chip removed. Angie begged Alex to returned to Gris with her where life was much more simple. Angie was a Balanced with a stronger Tech power due to having grown up on the Isle of Prosperity along with Alex but had left after she turned 21. She sought a greater meaning to the powers that had been granted to them and had found it in Saminea. She spoke of easy living where she had a family of her own, two girls and a loving husband whom she lived with on a farm. Alex refused but the doctors had declared her unfit to take care of herself. It was no longer her choice as to where she lived. After Alex gave birth to Felicus and both Angie and the doctor’s agreed that Alex was healthy enough, arrangements were made for Alex and the newborn to travel to back to Saminea with Angie.

Instead of living on the farm with Angie, once in Saminea Alex dedicated herself to the Gods. She and baby Felicus moved into an Earth Temple, seeking comfort in the idea of a greater plan. Alex raised Felicus with strong spiritual beliefs centered around balance. She also believed that Felicus had a part in the great Gods’ plans and preached that she should uphold herself and become a worthy example to others. With so much evil and hate in the world, those dedicated to the Gods had to create the good. Balance, she claimed was the answer to everything. After her mother died, Felicus moved in with her Aunt Angie, who’s husband had passed away also, at the age of 20. By that time, she was relatively skilled in both of the powers equally. She polished her skills under the training of the Devouts of the Earth Temple and often dabbled in weapon making.

On the farm, she is head of household, taking care of her older cousin and her niece and nephew the best she can. With her experience in earth element magic, the crops and livestock seem to beckon to her more then the average human. If it weren't for her dependent family members, she would dedicate her life as a Devout in the Temple but instead feels that the Gods have a different plan for her.

**Edit: Because for some reason it seemed like a masterpiece at 3am. I tried to shorten it also. Mkay, I lied. It's longer then before. Sowwie.

"Good and Evil" is too complicated. I prefer, "Us and Them".
