Well, hey, Colors of Iris! Love the username. I'm Sato, and it's nice to meet you!
When I first joined Gateway all those years ago, I lurked for about two years before becoming a more visibly active member. xD I definitely see where you're coming from. However, in my time here, I've learned one thing - don't be afraid to jump right in! The water's fine, I promise.
If you're new to roleplaying, then hey! Just your luck; RolePlayGateway is not only one of the foremost hubs of text-based roleplaying, but we have a whole section of the website roped off to help new and experienced role-players either learn a new tip of the trade, or sharpen their ability in the craft. It's called the
Role Play Academy and it's full of your fellow users writing helpful guides and discussing relevant topics.
Creative writing, huh? As long as I'm chucking links around, I'm obligated to say that as a Designer, part of my responsibilities are to attend to the
Creative Realm a lovely little safe haven for users to post original works of poetry, prose, music, or artwork! If you have something you've produced, go ahead and share it! There's currently an initiative to bring back more activity to that section of the website, so we could use all the help we can get!
Stumble around if you must; that's the best way to learn. If you become too unbearably flummoxed, come find me! I'm generally always around, and willing to chat.
The last two things you ought to take up is this:
1.
Get your 10 forum posts out of the way! Click that link to learn a bit more on that.
2. Read the
RPG Rules! There's only five of them, and they're short! It's just a good idea so you have a general concept of the standards we hold ourselves to as a community.
Whew. Long inhale. So there it is, words, words, words. This will, hopefully, at least give you a good head start!
